A very good friend and fellow blogger asked me if they could post a thread for donations to help my family and me, over at their own site. At first I refused.

I then took it to prayer at the foot of the Cross. The answer was given to me with no room for questions or doubt.

This was EXTREMELY tough to post up here. Out of options and really have no choice.

My dear friend Patriot USA is in dire need of both funds and prayers. As many know, Patriot USA had major spinal surgery this last month. He is unable to work, unsure that he will have a job to return to, and the bills are piling up. Recently he had to spend big bucks on the repairs to his car. (OK his wife's car.) Thus depleting his savings. His wife is out of work and has one child in college and a child in High School. Things are getting so bad that even AJ, his dog is feeling the pinch.

I know times are tight. Heck I am short too, but Patriot's need is greater. A few bucks his way will do wonders for his recovery and health.

Yesterday PumaBydesign001 put up post after post after post - all worth the read. She is outstanding when it comes to researching and finding material most of us would be interested in and normally probably does a couple of pieces a day. Her personal commentary is typically brief but one is left with no question about her opinion. Yesterday she just never stopped. If her goal was to channel anger and disgust into something useful/cathartic she sure accomplished that in my opinion. I'm posting below videos of interest, most came from her but she had much more you might be interested in.

Janet Napolitanos' Border Patrol Priorities-from Conservative Observer

This is further proof (as if we needed any more) of the horrible disconnect that so many of our politicians, Commissars, are suffering from, by choice. We are now living with the result of the past elections. Elections have consequences and from the last two Presidential elections, the consequences have been catastrophic for our Republic.

Janet Napolitano is completely removed and disconnected from the agency and people she is supposed to be leading.

I have the utmost respect for the fine people who are willing to risk their lives trying to stem the flow of illegal alien invaders across our borders that this administration and Napolitano want to allow in to further their plans to turn the United States into something worse than a banana republic. When I lived in Arizona many years ago I knew a handful of agents from the Border Patrol. Each one of these individuals cared deeply about their job and the mission of the agency. I also knew them to be compassionate and kind. Compare this with what Napolitano's greatest moments have been and how totally removed she is. Asked about agency morale, she answers that HER morale is fine. Quite revealing and to me, completely and totally reprehensible. PatriotUSA

Janet Napolitanos' Border Patrol Priorities

Those of you who have been here before know that I tend to champion Border Patrol agents, who are frequently stuck between political divisions, the law, the cartels, Eric Holder, and their (lack of ) high level leadership.

Asked about morale and Great Moments in her career as Secretary of the DHS, Napolitano's answers aligns with her boss, the President. The characterization of President Obama and his cabinet members as lying cheats who are out to destroy the Constitution, line their pockets, and hose the American people remains.

The Border Patrol, Local 2544, Tucson Sector, reports on a video conference call where the Boss met with the troops. Here it is, presented in it's entirety, with no additional emphasis on my part.

Priorities

Real leadership you cannot depend on.

"It is great to have a “leader” with her priorities in the right place. During a video-conference session yesterday with agents and managers, Secretary Napolitano once again showed how out of touch she is with the rank-and-file employees who make DHS run.

"In response to a question about the low morale problem in CBP, she answered with a laugh “My morale is high.” Her dismissive comment is simply stunning, but unfortunately, it is typical of the way she has run things.

"Asked about her most memorable moment as DHS Secretary, she said something even more stunning. She said her most memorable moment as DHS Secretary was the time she threw out a first pitch at a Yankees game. This pretty much says it all. She revels in her “celebrity” while leading the largest law-enforcement agency in the history of this nation and the most memorable thing she has done is throwing a pitch at a baseball game. Not attending a funeral of a murdered agent, not meeting with the families of murdered agents, not anything to do with her job (outside her “celebrity” status), but throwing a pitch at a baseball game.

"And please don’t think these were just spontaneous comments. All questions had to be submitted days beforehand so she could select the questions she wanted to answer. This was a scripted publicity stunt designed to show she is “connecting” with agents.

"We have begged for real leadership in this Agency for years, and it’s become painfully apparent that nobody cares. It is more important to lie to the American people about how secure the borders are and to push for another amnesty program than it is to be a real leader of a law-enforcement agency.

NBPC representatives have attended musters and meetings with thousands of agents. We engage in the tough questions. We don’t hide behind some sort of imagined “celebrity” status. We don’t believe rank-and-file agents give one hoot about Napolitano throwing out some ceremonial first pitch at a baseball game. We care about border security, being allowed to do our jobs, being able to take care of our families, getting the equipment and support we need. And we continue to dream about having a real leader who we can respect and trust."

How much longer will the American people allow Obama and his band of thugs and mobsters to rape, pillage, and party at our expense?

The Islamophobia Research and Documentation Project at the University of California at Berkeley

This, of course, is the brainchild of professor Hatem Bazian, who not so long ago was an activist student at Berkeley. Just this past week, he was sharing a stage at UC San Diego with Cynthia McKinney as she struggled to put a coherent thought together (see my post).

So now Berkeley, which is a boffo institution on its best of days, has this what-ever-you-call- it devoted to documenting any thought or utterance critical of Islam and the Islamist agenda of establishing world-wide supremacy over the rest of us and whatever other religion we may believe in.

Never mind that Muslims enjoy equal rights in America and full freedom to practice their faith-as they do in that other country so vilified by Bazian-Israel.

Never mind that in virtually every Muslim majority nation on earth, religious minorities are being actively persecuted by violent and often legal means.

Never mind that just since 9-11, there have been over 20,000 acts of terror carried out world-wide in the name of Islam.

Never mind the virulent expressions of hate spewing forth from the mouths of imams reading passages from the Koran directed toward Jews and Christians in mosques and madrassas around the world.

Never mind that on almost any day, Muslims in Iraq, Pakistan, or Afghanistan are killing other Muslims (Sunni-Shia) while Sufis and Ahmadiya Muslims are also persecuted in Muslim countries.

None of that matters, you see because all that matters is that little things like the above have given some folks a rather negative perception of Muslims.

Except for the fact that most Americans have done a good job of separating the innocent Muslims from the violent jihadists-and their apologists.

But let's take a look inside the pages of this "project" (link above). The first thing you note is the recent 4th annual study of Islamophobia conference (apparently just concluded). I wonder if Cynthia McKinney spoke at that one.

Bazian then goes into a lengthy treatise of the "objectionable" FBI efforts to develop sources of information within the Muslim community and likens it to the COINTEL probes of decades past. Of course, what he doesn't stress is that the objective is to save innocent lives from terrorist attacks. His article, was of course, written before the latest attack in Boston.

Speaking of Boston, there is also this gem by Professor Muhammad Tamdgidi of the University of Massachusetts at Boston, in which he quotes a definition of Islamophobia as adopted by the Runnymede Trust on Islamophobia Report of 1997.

But our friends at the IRDP wish to define Islamophobia as follows:

"Islamophobia is a contrived fear or prejudice fomented by the existing Eurocentric and Orientalist global power structure. It is directed at a perceived or real Muslim threat through the maintenance and extension of existing disparities in economic, political, social and cultural relations, while rationalizing the necessity to deploy violence as a tool to achieve "civilizational rehab" of the target communities (Muslim or otherwise). Islamophobia reintroduces and reaffirms a global racial structure through which resource distribution disparities are maintained and extended."

According to that latter definition, I am can proudly attest that I am not an Islamophobe. Admittedly, the former, at least in certain points, is more problematical for me. I know one thing, however; I don't go around referring to people from other religions as "apes and pigs" and envision the day when I will hunt them down behind the last tree or rock to kill them. I don't know where that fits into anyone's definition of "phobia", but it must fit in somewhere.

What is conveniently missing from this piece is the fact that most of the anti-Semitism in Europe today is by young male Muslim immigrants who are making it impossible for Jews to walk the streets of major cities dressed in distinctive Jewish garb lest they be insulted, spat upon, accosted or assaulted by the aforementioned criminals while intimidated Europeans turn a blind eye. Also missing are images like this, which just may contribute to "British Islamophobia".

But here is where it really gets good. Introducing Professor Ramon Grosfoguel of (where else?) UC Berkeley:

(It means capitalism is bad.)

through an Islamophobic hysteria all over the world, specifically among the
dominant elites of the United States and Israel. The latter is not surprising
given US and Israeli representation of Palestinians, Arabs and Islamic people
in general as terrorist decades before 911 (Said 1979; 1981). The
responsibility of US foreign policy is never linked to the tragic events of 911."

OK. Enough of that. I think you get the flavor. Essentially, everything about the West is bad, which leads one to wonder why the various authors have chosen to live in the West.

This is no Simon Wiesenthal Center, Folks. Keep in mind that as we speak, the 56-nation Organization of Islamic Cooperation is still working hard to get the UN to pass a resolution that all member nations should criminalize any criticism of Islam. So is it fair to ask whether this "research and documentation" project is meant to be a repository of information on all those so-called "Islamophobes", real or imagined? Is there a larger agenda at work here against capitalism, democracy, true freedom and respect for ALL religions, and other institutions we have heretofore held so dear?

How sad it is that this is what passes for scholarship in places like the University of California at Berkeley.

The hanging judge-where are you?

Sadly missing today in America are the hanging tree - and "the honest men."

This is a statement made by Andrea in her post "When Hillary Clinton died."

The words stuck in my mind and I seriously worked this over and then the light came on! The Hanging Tree, the Hanging Judge Issac C. Parker of Fort Smith, Arkansas circa 1875.

A few years ago I read a very good book about Judge Issac Parker. The Branch and the Scaffold by Loren D. Estleman is very well written and researched. I cannot say the author breaks any new ground in this novel but he does a masterful job of bringing the all the characters to life and all of them are based on the real characters. None of the characters in this book are made up and Estleman uses the historical facts about the characters to weave a fine, fast moving and easy reading novel.

Parker was well known for handing down justice. He was very strict and did not hesitate to send a criminal who deserved death, to the gallows. The judge should have been better known for his compassion for the victims and families of the criminals who ended up in in Parker's courtroom. The judge was hated, vilified and badly misunderstood by those who did not live in the Indian territories where crime was rampant and lives were cheap. Many politicians, newspaper editors, lawyers and citizens who lived on the east coast had no idea what life was like on the western frontier. These were some of Parker's harshest critics. His job as judge took a heavy toll on his personal life.

One of the best parts of this novel was the way the author describes in exacting detail how the hangman or executioner went about his 'trade.' The quality of rope was very carefully chosen, the rope was cleaned and oiled to make sure it functioned as required. Knots and nooses were almost a form of art to those who practiced this trade. It was very interesting to learn that this was not a position that was horribly looked down upon by the citizens of Fort Smith or in other territories.

The book is well worth your time, especially if you like the American West, American History or want to read about some of the most colorful bad guys that were brought to justice and sentenced in Parker's courtroom. Belle Starr, Ned Christie, and the Dalton Gang, just to name a few.

OK, so you might be wondering where is PatriotUSA going with this, or you might have fallen asleep?

This is where I am driving to; the United States, from coast to coast needs a few 'hanging judges.' We need judges who will have no fear of the liberal progressive agenda or politicians who squeal every time a severe sentence or the death penalty is handed out. Judges who will not care about securing their positions for life nor worry about the damning reactions of political correctness. Judges that will honor what the victim(s) have gone through, lost at the hands of criminals, showing compassion and kindness, no mercy nor quarter for those criminals who have committed heinous crimes. Many of the judges that serve on the bench today and nothing more than limp dish rags who have no moral foundations, no ethics nor values, based on the Constitution of The United States and have forgotten who they serve. We have judges who have been bought off by politics, greed, favors, unions and the cronyism of the worst kind.

Judges who will take a look back at what truly worked for justice in this country. The style of law and knowing the law. We need judges like Judge Issac C. Parker.

I am not advocating for the return of hanging as a method of execution, so please do not go there nor read that into this post but we do need a to seriously look at the code of West and Frontier justice. Perhaps this is a bit harsh and why should we go back to that? Because it worked and what we are doing today in our justice and legal system is an epic fail in so many ways. Call me whatever you want. I can think of quite a few politicians who I would like to see go through Judge Parker's courtroom, starting with the current POTUS and those responsible for Benghazi. That is just for starters. Impeaching Obama, finding him and his cronies GUILTY of crimes against the United States for treason and sending them all to prison for LIFE, would be just fine with me. Meanwhile, I will just wait in the shade of the hanging tree. PatriotUSA

Hatem Bazian-Cynthia McKinney at UC San Diego

Last Thursday, UC Berkeley Professor Hatem Bazian and Cynthia McKinney spoke before a packed hall of about 40 students.....

..... from the Students for Justice in Palestine and the Muslim Student Association as part of the week-long festival of hate against Israel at UC San Diego. No, I wasn't there, but people I know were, and they took copious notes.

According to my reports, Bazian was his usual complaining and boring self while McKinney gave one for the ages. It will be forever known as the Cynthia McKinney San Diego Address-as opposed to the Abraham Lincoln Gettysburg address. The only similarity was that both consisted of few words, but at least Lincoln's made sense. Already rambling from apples to French fries, about half way through, she completely lost her train of thought and paused repeatedly for painfully long periods at one point trying unsuccessfully to put a film up on the screen as a student had to run up from the audience to help her. I am told it was embarrassing.

But that's nothing new for Cynthia.

Bazian, as usual, whined about the "harassment and discrimination" that pro-Palestinian students face on University of California campuses then went on to complain about US support for Israel.

Here is a summary of McKinney's speech:

"Oh, I'm sorry........"

"What I'm trying to say is that one team shows up on election day. Another team shows up and the other team wins......Uhh....

....."try to talk about the way we organize................." PAUSE

......"What is this? ...Well, where I wanna go is............"(long pause)

"One moment.....Ok, uh.. That's it."

And this woman is a former US Congresswoman and studying for a PhD at Antioch University!!

To be sure, she made references to AIPAC and that pro-Israel lobby that has such an influence on all political aspects of our lives. She referred to an article by (Jewish Daily) Forward that described how the lobby is able to get Jews elected to Congress. She even quoted that great statesman (and Jew-hater) Gus Savage, who spoke about the influence of the pro-Israel lobby on the House floor back in the early 1990s.

Gus Savage: Sexual predator, corrupt Congressman, race baiter, anti-Semite. And this is who McKinney quotes.

I should also note that McKinney quoted Savage in May 2009 at UC Irvine when I asked her a question about how much the Jews had cost her her last election. She was too stupid not to take the bait.

In addition, McKinney told the "audience" that she had just returned from a 17-hour flight from Kuala Lumpur the night before. She also told of being recently in Capetown, South Africa at the -get this- Bertrand Russell Tribunal on Palestine and being told by "many" South Africans that the apartheid of the former South Africa "paled in comparison to the apartheid in Israel."

Which begs the question: Who is paying for this dim bulb (McKinney) to travel around the world-or any of them for that matter?

From what I am told, the UCSD week of hate was pretty much like the UCI week of hate. The average turnout was about 30-40 MSA-types, 3-5 pro-Israel types, and 3-5 curious students here and there-probably getting extra credit to attend from their radical professors.

An AMERICAN citizen stripped of his CONSTITUTIONAL rights in New Jersey or perhaps New JERKSEY or New JERSEYISTAN? Watch this video and tell me if James Kaleda was out of line or rude?

The passion of Mr. Kaleda is very clear to me. Senator Norcross should have been the one removed.

In my opinion, he was not and what he speaking were words of truth that that gun grabbing progressive liberals hate and have no answer to. All they do is pass laws that are restrictive to law abiding gun owners and reduce the chances of self defense or coming to the defense of others who may be in harms way. This is how they handle dissent in New Jersey

On April 30, 2013, Second Amendment activist James Kaleda was forcibly ejected by armed guards from a hearing in Trenton, NJ. He was making decent points. He wasn’t belligerent or violent. But he was tossed out by armed government agents – and he only got heated when he was interrupted in the middle of his testimony. Deprived of First Amendment rights to petition government for a redress of grievances by armed guards, while being deprived of his Second Amendment rights.

James Kaleda explains that the proposed NJ Gun Bills will not save any lives but will endanger them. He is ejected by Committee Chair Senator Norcross. This took place at the NJ Senate gun control hearings in Trenton on April 30, 2013

Thank you Nicki. Those two words jerked me upright at what should be obvious after all the times we have been taken for fools. No, this is not the first time, and it is not new, but because we want to believe in good - we missed what is just more manipulation. More evil.

Publicly/Brazenly? Perhaps because they already know that the powers that be will ultimately not do a damn thing of substance about it.

This is just another false flag folks - and it will NOT be the last.

The MSM - all of em - ABC, CNN, NBC, CBS - all simply outraged for a change. Nice touch. Give the foolish conservatives what they have been praying for - an awakened media!

And congress is all over it! The House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight (playing their part just fine and no grass under their feet!) which has jurisdiction over the IRS, is investigating the reports of how the agency treated the conservative groups and is holding hearings Friday.

And the little people (that's thee and me) will believe - ONCE AGAIN INCORRECTLY - that there may be hope for a government that will do the will of the people!

UC San Diego Preventing Videotaping of MSA Events

Here is an update on the situation at UC San Diego as the Muslim Student Association began their week of anti-Israel events. Below is my initial report:

Last night, private security hired by event organizers prevented any video recording or audio recording of the event by outside persons.

This morning, a friend of mine called the UCSD Dean's office to inquire about the policy and to inform them of how the issue had been resolved at UC Irvine the previous week. My friend was told by an unidentified woman that the UCSD had a "different interpretation of the law", had consulted with their own attorneys, and that the "organizers of the event" had requested that no public filming be allowed. She further advised that they would send their policy to my friend in writing.

Stand by.

Meanwhile, here is a video from The United West from May 2011 at UCSD. Watch what happens when Tom Trento and his team arrive to videotape the MSA events. This is good stuff.

I must make one correction to the video. The Muslim Brotherhood is not a designated terrorist organization.

(But it should be.)

When Hillary Clinton died (brought on by massive doses of "couldn't give a shit" running thru her veins if it didn't further her need for power) the world said - what difference did she make?

Hillary crystallized for me what I said in an earlier post - that American's can no longer claim a "we the people" status. The Benghazi hearings and the lack of give a shit by the average American, as seen by the lack of any outpouring of outrage when truth was brought to light, foretells our future as a conquered nation by those who plan to enslave us.

From Daniel Greenfield - With Blood on Their Hands - "What is a traitor?" Lady Macduff's son asks his mother, before being murdered by Macbeth's assassins. "Why, one that swears and lies," his mother replies. "Who must hang them?" her son asks. "Why, the honest men," she answers.

The American public continues to rely on some "other" faction of government to find justice where it need be found. What "we" are not getting is - the United States Constitution reads - "We The People" - NOT - We The Government!

Sadly missing today in America are the hanging tree - and "the honest men."

Official PatriotUSA Update-Slowly healing

My apologies for not getting this update done sooner but all I will say is life is very rough right now here at Schloss Homer. Some of you will know what I mean and I will not divulge further details.

I have included a rare picture of me and of course AJ, the wonder dog. All that is missing is my ceegar and bottle of whiskey. I really have never liked to have my picture taken and now you can see why.

I am now past eight weeks since spinal fusion surgery and the recovery has been very slow. I was told a couple of weeks ago to not even 'think' about returning to work for another eight weeks, maybe longer. This is of course, depending on whether I have a job to go back to. First the incisions got infected, then they did not stop bleeding for almost the first month. This finally stopped and was due to me being on the table for five hours and the nasty but necessary work the surgeon did to remove as much of the old hardware as possible. She had to leave some of it in place. She and her surgical team used 'specially customized' Craftsman tools to get some of the old hardware out. The surgeon showed me the set of tools right before they knocked me out. I wish I could recall what the set was but no such luck.

I was finally able to start pool therapy which has been wonderful but it is a very slow process. A few hours after therapy, I have increased swelling and the pain has never really gone away. From the surgery itself yes but the damage to the nerves not so much. Still have pain, numbness, tingling almost all the time in my left leg, down into the left foot and toes. The surgery was supposed to have relieved much of this but so far, not much at all. I never went into this with any promise of great pain relief. If get some or a lot or not much, just the way it goes and stability was one of the main reasons for undergoing this procedure. The GOOD news is that I have better stability and do not feel like I am going to fall all the time. The pain and nerve stuff MAY or MAY NOT get better over time and I was told 12-18 months may be the time frame for all of this. I do not know if this is fusing yet or not. If this does not fuse, then I HAVE TO go for another fusion from the front and back but not thinking about this too much. A most nasty procedure.

AJ is the beneficiary of a lot of walks. We went six miles yesterday, a very slow six miles but this is a great improvement and it is because I am more stable, not mentality of course. I am out of the back brace I had to wear for the first six weeks but still must wear when I walk any distances. I can only do so much on the computer, read so many books, and I am literally going whackadoo from being good and behaving. No yard work no bending over, no heavy lifting, etc. I am concentrating on getting a website up and running for my fan restoration, sales and service mini-business to maybe be able to work from home down the road. I am very blessed to have a very good friend offer to help me with the website as I am from the days of gear, pulleys, chains, belts and am NOT tech savvy at all.

I will just close this out by thanking all who have prayed for me or sent in some SOS donations to help us through this extremely rough stretch. For the first time in my entire life I, we are at risk of missing a house payment and more. I am trusting in the Lord to watch over us and protect us. Not much else I can do right now except ride this storm out.

MSA Intimidation at UC San Diego

I have been advised that the UC San Diego Muslim Student Association is kicking off their own version of Hate Week today through Thursday. I have also been advised that last year, the MSA, with the cooperation of the university, was able to prevent audience members from videotaping. Here is the sign that appeared last year.

I have also been told that the MSA uses their own security to enforce the video ban.

As previously documented on this site, UCSD was until recently under the leadership of a Lavern and Shirley team identified as Chancellor Marye Anne Fox and vice chancellor Penny Rue. The new chancellor is Pradeep Khosla. They need to be set straight as to the law.

At a public event on a public site at a public university, audience members have the absolute right to videotape.

This is another example of intimidation, pure and simple. At UC Irvine last week, we didn't let them get away with it. I hope they won't be allowed to get away with it at UCSD. ....and Hatem Bazian, who, no doubt, will roll out his old power point presentation and read his talk. Hopefully, somebody in the audience will ask him about his reported past statements at Berkeley, where he allegedly called for intifada in the US and referred to all the campus buildings with Jewish names on them. I have asked him about these alleged statements at UCI, and all I got was a song and dance for an answer.

I mean really, it’s not as if Muslims have ever found anything particularly objectionable about that irritatingly venomous little Teutonic Hun with the toothbrush moustache.

Let’s bundle off to Budapest where anti-red demonstrators commemorating the 50th anniversary of that city’s protest against Soviet occupation found themselves going a bit green at the gills after being blasted by police determined to derail their dissident display of disaffection.

Next up is quaint Kashmir where quarrelsome government employees get the royal treatment. In an unexpected commonality not seen since Gandhi apprenticed his solicitorship on the Dark Continent, Indian and South African coppers both display a peculiar affinity for the colour purple.

Not to be outdone, in what can only be described as the world’s largest open-aire spray tanning salon, South Korean constables made sure that protesters of an August 2008 visit by then American President George W. Bush came away with an appropriately summery flush.

So, there you have it. Like frogs take to water, the French should cordon off and take dye-laced water cannon to these gatherings of arse up Muslim wankers; then detain each and every bespattered one of them for illegal assembly, obstructing traffic, not to mention generally being the most monumentally annoying fecking shites ever.

Finally, once again we return to Indonesia for a last lingering look at what happens when the tanker lorries run dry. As is well known by now, not only do Muslims excel at doing the most possible harm to other Muslims, but Islam has a verschluginer fatwa for every last detail of human existence right down to exactly how much faecal matter is allowed to remain underneath one’s fingernails after defecating and performing istinja, the cleaning of a person’s body. Knowing this, daringly devious Indonesian riot police use their erstwhile emptied water cannon to deluge disruptive Muslim demonstrators with freshly pumped raw sewage. All of which makes the Israeli “Skunk” approach seem quite humane by comparison. Then again, we are sadly unable to report as to whether there is any distinct change in the overall body odor of these sand loving lamb eaters, but that’s for them to worry about and not us. Eh?

America is becoming a more tolerant nation, we are told. Each new thing that we learn to tolerate makes us more progressive. But tolerance is a relative thing. For every new thing we learn to tolerate, there is a thing that we must stop tolerating.

Tolerance can only be allocated to so many places. The balance of tolerance and intolerance remains the same no matter how progressive a society becomes. A tolerant society only allocates its intolerance differently.

America today tolerates different things. It tolerates little boys dressing up as little girls at school, but not little boys pointing pencils and making machine gun noises on the playground.

The little boy whose mother dressed him up in girlish clothes once used to be a figure of contempt while the little boy pretending to be a marine was the future of the nation. Now the boy in the dress is the future of the nation having joined an identity group while the aspiring little marine is suspected of one day trading in his sharpened pencil for an assault rifle as soon as the next gun show comes to town.

The Duke of Wellington once said that the Battle of Waterloo was won on the playing-fields of Eton. What battles will the boys playing on the playgrounds where dodgeball is banned and finger guns are a crime win and what sort of nation will they be fighting to protect?

The trouble with tolerance is that there is always someone deciding what to tolerate. A free society does not tolerate people; it allows them to live their own values. And a tolerant society is not free. It is a dictatorship of virtue that is intolerant toward established values in order to better tolerate formerly intolerable values.

A free society does not tell people of any religion or no religion what to believe. A tolerant society forces them all to pay for abortions because its dictators of virtue have decided that the time has come to teach this lesson in tolerance.

An open society finds wisdom in its own uncertainty. A tolerant society, like a teenager, is certain that it already knows all the answers and lacks only the means of imposing them on others. It confuses its destruction of the past with progress and its sense of insecurity with righteousness.

To the tolerant, intolerance is the most powerful act possible. They solve problems by refusing to tolerate them. School shootings are carried out with guns and so the administrative denizens of the gun-free zones run campaigns of intolerance toward the physical existence of guns, the owners of guns, the manufacturers of guns, the civil rights groups that defend gun ownership and eventually toward John Puckle, Samuel Colt, John Moses Browning and the 82nd element in the periodic table.

None of this accomplishes a single practical thing, but it is an assertion of values. The paranoid mindset that cracks down on little boys who chew pop tarts into deadly shapes, little boys who point pencils and fingers at each other, is not out to stop school shootings, but is struggling to assert the intolerance of its tolerant value system over the reality of violence.

It’s not about preventing school shootings, but about asserting a value system in which there is no place for the aspiring marine, unless he’s handing out food to starving children in Africa in a relief operation or serving as a model of gay marriage to rural America.

To understand the NRA’s argument about the moral value of a gun deriving from the moral value of the wielder would require a worldview that is more willing to accept a continuum of shades, rather than criminalizing pencils and pop tarts for guilt by geometric association. A free society could do that, but a tolerant society, in which everything must be assigned an unchanging value to determine whether it will be tolerated and enforced or not tolerated and outlawed, cannot.

That is as true of Newtown as it is of Boston. The same tolerant liberalism that can see deadly menace in a pencil or a pop tart is blind to the lethal threat of a Chechen Islamist. If a gun is innately evil, then a member of a minority group, especially a persecuted one, is innately good. In the real world, it may take bad guns to stop good Muslims, but the system just doubles down on encouraging students to recite the Islamic declaration of faith while suspending them for chewing their pop tarts the wrong way.

Liberal values are at odds with reality and they are not about to let reality win. In their more tolerant nation, there is more room than ever for little boys who dream of one day setting off pressure cooker bombs at public events in the name of their religion, but very little room for little boys dreaming of being the ones to stop them.

The little boy in a dress has put on the uniform of tolerance while the little boy making rat tat noises with a pencil is showing strong signs of playing for the wrong team. The wrong team is the one that solves problems by shooting people, rather than writing denunciations of them to the tolerance department of diversity.

The complainer is the hero and the doer is the villain. Reporters and lawyers are the heroes because they are the arbiters of tolerance. Soldiers and police officers are the gun-happy villains because they respond to realities, rather than identities. They unthinkingly shoot without understanding the subtext.

A free society is practical. It acts in its own defense. A tolerant society acts to assert its values. The former fights terrorists and murderers, while the latter lets them go to show off its tolerant values.

This is the clash of values that holds true on the playground and on the battlefield of war. On the playground, little boys are suspended for waving around pencils and on the battlefield, soldiers are ordered not to defend themselves so that their country can win the hearts and minds of the locals in the endless Afghan Valentine’s Day that has stacked up a horrifying toll of bodies.

In their cities, men and women are told to be tolerant, to extend every courtesy and to suspect nothing of the friendly Islamists in their neighborhoods. It is better to be blown up as a tolerant society, they are told, than to point the pop tart of intolerance on the great playground of the nanny state.

Not many people are aware that the Drug Enforcement Administration is active in Afghanistan. I have received the below message from the Association of Formal Federal Narcotic Agents, of which i am a member. One of our retired agents, Doug Driver, was critically injured in Afghanistan by an IED. As the below letter describes, he needs some help.

Recently the AFFNA Board of Directors met at the Western Regional Conference in San Diego. During our meeting it came to our attention that one of AFFNA’s own, retired DEA Group Supervisor Doug Driver needs our support.

Many of you no doubt know Doug Driver of Jacksonville, FL. Among his many accomplishments during his DEA career, Doug was the DEA Case Agent whose investigative efforts led to the arrest and conviction of Carlos Lehder, a principle member of Colombia’s Medellin Cartel and one of the most important investigations in DEA’s history.

When the investigation began, Lehder had acquired Norman’s Cay in the Bahamas and was using the island to transship tons of cocaine from Colombia into the United States. Pursuant to Lehder’s arrest in Colombia he was immediately transported to Jacksonville, Florida where Doug spearheaded DEA’s successful conviction of Lehder and his co-defendants. Doug also worked in DEA offices in Los Angeles, Savannah, Georgia, Washington DC and Panama City, Panama.

Upon retirement from DEA, Doug began working for a company that provided law enforcement support to our soldiers in Afghanistan. He was embedded with U.S. Army combat units in remote areas of Afghanistan, providing leadership in conducting investigations into those groups responsible for the manufacture of IEDs against U.S. forces. Our young soldiers always expressed amazement at what a 62 year old man could do physically in a demanding climate and terrain so they nicknamed him, “Superman.”

In 2010, while on a mission to arrest two Afghan brothers who had manufactured an IED which had killed two American soldiers, Doug was severely injured by an IED.

Because of Doug’s meticulous investigation of the IED which killed the two U.S. soldiers, he identified the two Afghan brothers responsible. While attempting to make the arrests in a remote village, another IED intended for Doug and his unit exploded and killed several Aghan citizens in the vicinity. Doug, who was close to the explosion, initially suffered a severe headache but later that night suffered a massive stroke, which left him in a coma for a period of time until he was transported to Germany and subsequently to the U.S for treatment. As a result of the stroke Doug has been left partially blind, with the inability to talk or walk and requires 24/7 medical assistance at his home in Jacksonville. Doug has all his mental capacity and is cognizant of everything but simply has limited use of his body.

As you can no doubt imagine the last few years have been very difficult for Doug and his wife Becky. His rehabilitation has been a long and difficult journey but both Doug and Becky have always been fighters. Along the way, they have had to battle against the insurance company to cover their medical costs and have had limited success due to several factors. Some of their current needs are to obtain rehabilitation equipment for their home, making their home accessible for a handicapped person and many other requirements.

The AFFNA Board of Directors is offering our members the opportunity to assist and join in the our efforts to support Doug’s valiant fight and determination to get well by asking that our members donate whatever they can in support of his requirements. We know that Doug and Becky will appreciate any contribution, no matter how great or how small. The most important thing we can do as brother and sister DEA agents is to let Doug and his family know that they are not forgotten and we stand together with them in their struggle.

UC Irvine Hate Week Wrapup

The above picture of the "infamous" Apartheid Wall is truly representative of the week of events fostered upon the UC Irvine campus this week by the Muslim Student Union, with added sponsorship by Students for Justice in Palestine, the Black Student Union, and MECHA. The newly refurbished wall wound up needing more refurbishing after rain washed out the noon event at the flagpoles and forced the event indoors. In addition, Monday and Thursday's noon slots couldn't be filled with outside speakers. Not even Amir Abdel Malik Ali was available this year.

As it was, the events couldn't draw flies aside from the MSU kids themselves, most of whom appeared bored from listening to the same old lines they have been hearing for years from boring speakers that nobody ever heard of. It was clearly the scrubs filling in this year. Most of the events drew about 35 people- at the most 50-60. The biggest drawing event was on Wednesday night when their enemy Daniel Pipes appeared with a panel in a separate hall. As I noted in my early reports, the MSU spent the first couple of days trying to keep me from videotaping. Finally, it took the Dean of Students to advise them that we have something in this country called the First Amendment. They seem to think it only applies to them-certainly not to Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren or Gary Fouse.

What we heard this week was the same old drivel from a bunch of angry misfits who continue to preach victimhood to their bored and exhausted listeners. I say exhausted because hate week is certainly labor intensive for the MSU. Every morning, they have to pick up that "wall" from some storage place, truck it to UCI, assemble it, then sit through the events, take it down at 5 o'clock, then truck it back to the storage place before being on time for the 7:30 event, which apparently they never were because the two events I went to started late.

Of course, as always, the MSU insists on giving their recitation from the Koran and reading a preamble that insists they are not anti-Jewish and reject any form of bias or hate, be it ethnic or religious. Yet, I noted one interesting fact this year. Virtually every recitation from the Koran, when translated by the speaker into English, was focused on God's punishment for the disbelievers. How interesting. (I did not capture these on tape because, as a teacher at UCI, I do not feel it is appropriate for me to take pictures of students or film them.)

So that is pretty much what we heard. You know what we didn't hear?

Not a word about the flames burning throughout the Middle East, which Israel has nothing to do with.

Not a word about the violence, hate and persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt.

Not a word about the murder of our diplomats in Benghazi and the craziness on-going in Libya.

Not a word about Syria, the 70,000+ killed, and the flight of the Syrian Christians.

Not a word about the mad mullahs in Iran, their developing nuclear bomb, and persecution of gays and Baha'i.

Not a word about the on-going massacres of Christians in Nigeria at the hands of Islamic Boko Haram.

Not a word about the Sudanese genocide against black Christians and animists and the refugees in Darfur.

Not a word about the killings between Sunnis and Shia in Iraq nor of the anti-Christian persecution in that country.

Not a word about the Sunni persecution of Christians in Pakistan as well as the persecution of Ahmadi Muslims by the Sunni.

Not a word about the last remaining Jews trying to get out of Yemen.

Not a word about the forced migration of some 700,000 Jews from Arab nations in 1948-49.

Not a word about the vicious anti-Jewish rhetoric across the Middle East.

Not a word about the daily harassment of Jews across Europe by young Muslim male immigrants.

And, of course, not a word about that most recent of events-the Boston marathon massacre.

No, folks. The problem, you see, is Israel.

I would like to make another point, which I made during a previous year; If non-verbal communication means anything, I think the MSU is sending a wrong message to the rest of the student body. Aside from the angry rhetoric and some speakers with their anti-American rhetoric (a wave to my friend Sohail Daulatzai), what kind of message is the MSU trying to send with their militant-looking black and red t-shirts with the word "Struggle" emblazoned across, the red bandannas and armbands? Are they trying to intimidate people? If so, it is not working. All you have to do is watch the UCI students passing by on their way to lunch or class. With rare exceptions, they do not stop. They do not look. They just keep going. If non-verbal communication means anything (and I pay attention to non-verbal communication), they are either oblivious to it or annoyed.

Because that is what the MSU is on our campus-an annoyance. It is because of the MSU activities over the years (need I mention Michael Oren?) that UCI has suffered a black eye in the view of the nation when the other 99% of students have made it an otherwise great university. The only thing the MSU is accomplishing is lending credence to the notion that they are radical and threatening. After all, when you routinely bring in radical speakers, you do take ownership of them.

But that is what I told the MSU last May when Amir Abdel Malik Ali called UC President Mark Yudof a "Zionist Jew".

Final verdict? The MSU flopped this year.
