Now darlings, it’s the time of year when Awards Season begins and the first Major kicks off tomorrow night with The Golden Globe Awards. Now, the Globes is not just a warm up to The Holy Grail (a.k.a The Academy Awards), it’s  entertaining show in it’s own right, not least because they give the nominees plenty of booze. Now Patsy has had a look in her crystal ball for tomorrow night, and if you’re a betting man or woman, bookie’s pencils at the ready – here’s a look at the main runners and riders tomorrow night – and who I think is going to take the spoils…

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama:

Anne Hathaway – Rachel Getting Married
Angelina Jolie – Changeling
Meryl Streep – Doubt
Kristin Scott Thomas – I’ve Loved You So Long
Kate Winslet – Revolutionary Road

Patsy’s Prediction: Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married). We’ve already had the leak from the Golden Globe Website! But seriously, she’s the strongest contender for the title aside from Meryl, who she tied with at the CCG’s this week. I would prefer to see Meryl win this one, but the critics are going mad for Hathaway.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama:

Leonardo DiCaprio – Revolutionary Road
Frank Langella – Frost/Nixon
Sean Penn – Milk
Brad Pitt – The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button
Mickey Rourke – The Wrestler

Patsy’s Prediction: Mickey Rourke (The Westler). Everyone Stateside is raving about Mickey Rourke’s glorious turn as a pug in The Wrestler, and you know the Hollywood Foreign Press love a good comeback. Would like to see Frank Langella get this one for his superb performance as Tricky Dicky in Frost/Nixon, but I feel it’s Rourke’s year.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy:

Javier Bardem – Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Colin Farrell – In Bruges
James Franco – Pineapple Express
Brendan Gleeson – In Bruges
Dustin Hoffman – Last Chance Harvey

Patsy’s Prediction: It’s a difficult catagory because there is no leading contenders. I think Javier Bardem might get it for Vicky Christina Barcelona – although Dustin Hoffman is an award favourite, I haven’t heard as much of a buzz for him to win a Globe.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy:

Rebecca Hall – Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Sally Hawkins – Happy-Go-Lucky
Frances McDormand – Burn After Reading
Meryl Streep – Mamma Mia!
Emma Thompson – Last Chance Harvey

Patsy’s Prediction: Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia). It was the film of the year and Meryl was the absolute star. No contest, although to be fair, Rebecca Hall and Francis McDormand are worthy contenders.

Best Motion Picture – Drama:

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button
Frost/Nixon
The Reader Revolutionary Road Slumdog Millionaire

Patsy’s Prediction:Slumdog Millionaire. The absolute feel-good flick of 2009, Danny Boyle has really returned to form with this movie. It’s won rave reviews across the board, and with the exception of Frost/Nixon,  has not disappointed.

Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy:

Burn After Reading
Happy-Go-Lucky
In Bruges
Mamma Mia!
Vicky Cristina Barcelona

Patsy’s Prediction: Mamma Mia. I would like to see Woody Allen’s Vicky Christina Barcelona take this one, but I feel the HFP will play it safe in this category.

Best Director – Motion Picture:

Danny Boyle – Slumdog Millionaire
Stephen Daldry – The Reader
David Fincher – The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button
Ron Howard – Frost/Nixon
Sam Mendes – Revolutionary Road

Patsy’s Prediction: David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button). Fincher is a fine director, and should have won a couple of years back for Zodiac, but was overlooked. Critics are calling this the finest film of his career to date, I doubt the HFP will disagree.

Best Screenplay – Motion Picture:

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button: Written by Eric Roth
Doubt: Written by John Patrick Shanley
Frost/Nixon: Written by Peter Morgan
The Reader: Written by David Hare
Slumdog Millionaire: Written by Simon Beaufoy

Patsy’s Prediction: Frost/Nixon. If Frost/Nixon is to win any award in such a tight year, it’ll be this one. Although John Patrick Shanley stands a very good chance after winning a Pulitzer Prize for Doubt.

Best Performance By An Actress in A Supporting Role:

Amy Adams – Doubt
Penélope Cruz – Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Viola Davis – Doubt
Marisa Tomei – The Wrestler
Kate Winslet – The Reader

Patsy’s Prediction: Take Kate Winslet out of this catagory and it would be a hard call – all actresses gave great performances in their respective roles. But Winslet has got it in the bag.

Best Performance By An Actor in A Supporting Role:

Tom Cruise – Tropic Thunder
Robert Downey Jr. – Tropic Thunder
Ralph Fiennes – The Duchess
Philip Seymour Hoffman – Doubt
Heath Ledger – The Dark Knight

Patsy’s Prediction: Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight). Ledger unquestionably gave his finest performance in The Dark Knight as The Joker and it would be a sin if this was not recognized, especially as will see no more of the like from him.

Best Animated Picture:

Bolt
Kung Fu Panda
Wall-E

Patsy’s Prediction: No one saw Bolt. Kung Fu Panda was great and had Jack Black and Angelina. But Wall-E is Pixar, and every critic in the world salivated over it when it was released. A no brainer.

Page 3 Girl Lucy Pinder became the first Housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother House last night.

Lucy, who was nominated by Head of House Terry Christian for being the “least talented”,  shrieked with delight when her name was called out by Davina, and said “Thank God”.

Her fellow nominee Ulrika Johnson sobbed uncontrollably while Davina spoke to the house.

Lucy left the House to cheers and told Davina in her interview: “I think maybe people thought why is she covering up. I don’t mind being seen just as a pair of boobs but it’s been very cold.

“I’m probably quite boring because I’m quite normal and I don’t really like to listen to the sound of my own voice.”

Meanwhile, Housemates are working off the Christmas pounds in their latest Task – making a fitness video to Eric Prydz’s Call on Me.

Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway shared the spoils  at the Critic’s Choice Awards when the two actresses tied in first place for Best Actress at the ceremony last night.

Streep won for her performance as a nun in the film Doubt, while Hathaway was awarded for her well lauded performance in Rachel’s Getting Married.

Other winners on the night were Oscar favourite Kate Winslet, who won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Reader and Sean Penn took Best Actor for indie flick Milk.

There were also awards for the late Heath Ledger for his performance in the Dark Knight and feelgood film Slumdog Millionaire took Best Picture.

The 14th Critic’s Choice Awards marks the start of Awards Season which will continue this weekend with the Golden Globes.

“little piece of TRUE information:

we did NOT break up!

According to the latest from TMZ.com and Hollywood Access, Lindsay Lohan and Sam Ronson are officially over. No statements from Ronson’s or Lohan’s camp yet, but we will keep you posted.

Love her or hate her Mrs. O is pure entertainment. And none more so when she gets her claws into someone. Literally.

On the Charm School reunion Show on VH1 Sharon threw down with former contestant Megan Hauserman when she insulted her husband Ozzy.

After Megan was kicked off the show in December she filed a police complaint against Sharon for assault, so things were bounds to be tense on the reunion show.

Sharon began by telling Megan that she “should not be allowed to breed my dear” after Hauserman talked about getting her dog neutured.

“Only one of you should be allowed” she finished.

Megan retaliated by saying that Sharon was only famous for managing her “brain dead” husband Ozzy, upon which Sharon hurled a glass of water over the blondes head and went for her.

Head of House and self-proclaimed Pantomime Villian (future careet methinks?) Terry Christian has nominated Page 3 gal Lucy Pinder to join Ulrika Johnson for for the first eviction vote off.

After selecting Lucy as the least talented Housemate after a “Talent” Show Terry tried to make excuses.

“She’s a really lovely girl in every way,” he says.

“I’ve never ever heard of her.”

“Or seen her in anything. Or seen her in a bikini or with her waps out.”

Terry, unless you are a connoisseur of naturally large breasts, you haven’t missed much.

Meanwhile,  Shameless (actress) Tina Malone has beef with rapper Coolio.

“He says nice things to everyone,” says Tina.

“Except me.”

I’m sure Tina, when he thinks of something he’ll say it.

On a personal  note – my favourite moment of the night was when Ulrika was performing that heart warming weather forecast she mentioned she had 4 kids. Upon hearing Coolio yells out “Baby let’s make it 5!”

They just don’t make gentlemen like that anymore….

Girls Aloud songstress Cheryl Cole (she’s dropped theTweedy yet again) has forgiven her cheating husband Ashley Cole after he cheated on her – after realising she can’t live without him.

The Arsenal star reportedly slept with three women, paying two of them for their silence, was outed by the Sun in January of this year.

The Girls Aloud beauty was left devestated by the claims and fled to sunnier climes with her fellow bandmates for comfort.

But after talks with her hubby, Cheryl has decided to take him back.

A source revealed to The Sun: “She has spent a lot of time thinking about what she should do. Ashley can kiss goodbye to nights out with the lads now.

“He has a lot of groveling to do before things get back to how they were.

“Ashley’s family have been talking about how the couple are back together. Ashley has been confident all along that she would come back.”

Cheryl sweetie – a piece of advice: keep that wedding ring off your finger and stay away from him – you could do so much better.

Typical Hollywood. The ink is barely dry on the latest sheaf of your divorce papers and you are seen with an arm casually draped around the waist of a hot model. Well, sort of. Brooding actor Sean Penn was seen posing for pics with James Blunt’s ex Petra Nemcova at Elton John’s AIDS Foundation party on Sunday night. Penn recently split from his wife of 11 years, Robin Wright Penn several months ago.

When asked to comment on the their relationship, Nemcova replied “Yes, we are friends. He is on the advisory board of my charity.”

Is that what they’re calling it now?
