Fortified with my morning Stoli enhanced smoothie I’m ready to start my annual Golden Globes predictions. I don’t feel this was a stellar year for film but there are some wonderful actors and directors finally within a hair’s breadth of clenching a big award this year and for that I’m happy. Globes is a great night of the year, and not just because it’s the only time you’ll ever see a size zero starlet quaffing Moet and chomping on 1/12 of a bread roll (they really let themselves go at the Globes) but because it brings the mediums of film and TV together for a fantastic awards show. I also look forward to seeing how many people Ricky Gervais can piss off again this year and I hope you’ll be watching – and drinking – along with me. Here goes with the most brutal predictions you’ll see on the ‘net and during the show I’ll put up all the winners from the night.

Best Motion Picture – Drama

Black Swan

Inception

The Fighter

The King’s Speech

The Social Network

The public loved it, the critics loved it, Mark Zuckerberg probably didn’t love it – but Fincher’s The Social Network was one of the highlights of 2010 and I think it’s strong enough to hold off the other contenders. For some reason I can’t shake the feeling Inception might cause a shock here. The other three are stellar films all worthy of winning this award but I genuinely don’t feel they hold the same level of fan/critic appeal that Social Network and Inception do.

Patsy’s Prediction: The Social Network

WINNER: The Social Network

Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy

Alice in Wonderland

Burlesque

The Kids Are All Right

Red

The Tourist

This category is quite frankly, cack. I mean Burlesque? The Tourist?? Popcorn flicks should not get nommed for Globes and the heart-warming + funny The Kids Are All Right will walk away with this one.

Patsy’s Prediction: The Kids Are All Right

WINNER: The Kids Are All Right

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama

Jesse Eisenberg, The Social Network

Colin Firth, The King’s Speech

James Franco, 127 Hours

Ryan Gosling, Blue Valentine

Mark Wahlberg, The Fighter

Mirren was the Queen in 2007, Colin will be the King in 2011. There’s a little bit of noise starting to build in this category for James Franco in 127 Hours, but I don’t see it happening.

Patsy’s Prediction: Colin Firth/The King’s Speech

WINNER: Colin Firth/The King’s Speech

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama

Halle Berry, Frankie and Alice

Nicole Kidman, Rabbit Hole

Jennifer Lawrence, Winter’s Bone

Natalie Portman, Black Swan

Michelle Williams, Blue Valentine

While I feel the movie failed to live up to the hype, (judge for yourselves on January 21st when it’s released, or if you are buds with the IT bloke at work, ask him to burn it off his hard drive, he’ll have it) Natalie Portman is a lethal combination of beauty, fragility and devastation in Black Swan and has Golden Globe winner written all over her.

Patsy’s Prediction: Natalie Portman/Black Swan

WINNER: Natalie Portman/Black Swan

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy

Johnny Depp, Alice in Wonderland

Johnny Depp, The Tourist

Paul Giamatti, Barney’s Version

Jake Gyllenhaal, Love and Other Drugs

Kevin Spacey, Casino Jack

Alice in Wonderland was fantastic flick, although it divided many who thought it was little more than another Depp/Burton lovefest. Feel that way you may, but Johnny Depp brought sinister and soul to the Mad Hatter and while Kevin Spacey is a strong runner here I feel this one is going to Depp.

Patsy’s Prediction: Johnny Depp/Alice in Wonderland

WINNER: Paul Giamatti/Barney’s Version

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy

Annette Bening, The Kids Are All Right

Anne Hathaway, Love and Other Drugs

Angelina Jolie, The Tourist

Julianne Moore, The Kids Are All Right

Emma Stone, Easy A

If there’s a fight for the title, it’s between Bening and Moore but Bening was star of the show in this heart warming indie flick. Can I get an amen for the genius who first conceived the idea to partner her with Julianne M?!

PS: Special mention to Emma Stone in Easy A – she’s one to watch.

Patsy’s Prediction: Annette Bening/The Kids Are All Right

Winner: Annette Bening/The Kids Are All Right

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture

Christian Bale, The Fighter

Michael Douglas, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

Andrew Garfield, The Social Network

Jeremy Renner, The Town

Geoffrey Rush, The King’s Speech

Everyone is talking about Andrew Garfield’s performance in The Social Network as a strong contender for this, but I don’t see it. This one is between Christian Bale and Geoffrey Rush, both of whom should really win more awards and I think Bale’s just about a certainty. Winning a Critic’s Choice on Friday night won’t have hurt his chances either.

Patsy’s Prediction: Christian Bale/The Fighter

WINNER: Christian Bale/The Fighter

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture

Amy Adams, The Fighter

Helena Bonham Carter, The King’s Speech

Mila Kunis, Black Swan

Melissa Leo, The Fighter

Jacki Weaver, Animal Kingdom

Melissa Leo is the odds-on favourite to steal this one away, and after Frozen River, I cannot see her being robbed on a second occasion. Although the same could be said for Ms Adams who like her co-star delivered a fine performance in The Fighter. I still see this one going to Melissa Leo however.

Patsy’s Prediction: Melissa Leo/The Fighter

WINNER: Melissa Leo/The Fighter

Best Director – Motion Picture

Darren Aronofsky, Black Swan

David Fincher, The Social Network

Tom Hooper, The King’s Speech

Christopher Nolan, Inception

David O’Russell, The Fighter

It has to be Fincher although Aronovsky stands a firm chance – I don’t believe Black Swan is his best work though. Christopher Nolan, a favourite of many a buff could shock the lot and take the spoils here.

Patsy’s Prediction: David Fincher/The Social Network

WINNER: David Fincher/The Social Network

Aaron Sorkin wrote The Social Network. Yes, that’s why it was so blimmin’ good. Remember the opening dialogue – did any of you feel like it was a conversation between Josh and Donna in the West Wing? Has to win or everyone in the HFPA should be spanked.

I’m hoping Cher, because You Haven’t Seen The Last of Me is a great song, if not award winning. Just as long as it’s not bloody Gwyneth with her bloody country and western tune.
For someone who is rubbish at predicting these things, I’m usually on the money with the winner for Best Original Score.
At the time of writing I’ve yet to view any foreign language films this year, which I’m hoping to do between now and the Oscars so I’m replying on hype for this one. Biutiful has an impressive cast which includes the wonderful Javier Bardem and Oscar nominated director Alejandro González Iñárritu but I Am Love is one many feel is cruelly underrated.
Not living in the States or worked out how to get around Hulu I haven’t seen any of these at all (The Pacific was shown over this side of the pond but remains the lone exception). You Don’t Know Jack looks a worthy contender for this from what I’ve read about it, having Al Pacino star couldn’t hurt it either. But epic series The Pacific from the creators of Band of Brothers has been an awards favourite and I think it’ll edge out Pacino’s production in this category.

Al Pacino, You Don’t Know Jack

Dennis Quaid, The Special Relationship

Edgar Ramirez, Carlos

Edgar Ramirez would be a fantastic choice here, but I believe he is the underdog. Pacino and McShane are the front runners here and a side note – great to see the fantastic Idris Elba get a nod for Luther – although I don’t think it’s his year.

Claire Danes, Temple Grandin

Judi Dench, Cranford

Romola Garai, Emma

Jennifer Love Hewitt, The Client List

Cranford has got folks yapping on both sides of the pond and has been received scores of award nominations, Judi Dench seems the obvious choice here, although she faces competition from rival Claire Danes for Temple Grandin.

Patsy’s Prediction: Judi Dench/Cranford

WINNER: Claire Danes/Temple Grandin

Steve Carell, The Office

Thomas Jane, Hung

Matthew Morrison, Glee

Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory

I have long stopped caring who gets nominated or who wins this category because it’s usually the same people every year and more or less the same winner (Alec has won this three times but it feels like more). So I’m going for him because Steve Carell isn’t that funny anymore, Matthew Morrison was never able to act or be funny, Jim Parsons has a shot but I think it’ll be another predictable year for this category.

Patsy’s Prediction: Alec Baldwin/30 Rock

Tina Fey, 30 Rock

Laura Linney, The Big C

Lea Michele, Glee

Toni Collette won this last year and The United States of Tara while good, has not done anything spectacular this year; the latter also true of Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie) and Tina Fey (30 Rock). And I can’t stand Lea Michele – can you imagine how unbearable she’d be if she won a Golden Globe? So who does that leave? Oh, Laura Linney. Love her, I’m going for her.

Patsy’s Prediction: Laura Linney/The Big C

Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad

Michael C. Hall, Dexter

Jon Hamm, Mad Men

Hugh Laurie, House

At this point I’d say Hugh Laurie shouldn’t even bother showing up, he’s won two and he ain’t getting no more, despite the continual nominations. Jon Hamm has been pretty damn <del>sexy </del>amazing in Season 4 of Mad Men so it’s a deserved win if he gets it. I’d just like to see the Globes maintain the edgy rep and pick someone else, like Bryan Cranston.

Scott Caan, Hawaii Five-O

Chris Colfer, Glee

Chris Noth, The Good Wife

Eric Stonestreet, Modern Family

David Straithairn, Temple Grandin

I would rather love this one to go to the deliciously witty Chris Colfer who as Kurt in Glee outbitches even myself – no mean feat I can assure you. While he has been the runaway star this season, I feel the HFPA will plump for an actor in a more dramatic role and throw it to Straithairn for Temple Grandin, although Noth shouldn’t be ruled out. Oh, and WTF is Scott Caan doing in this category?

Patsy’s Prediction: David Straithairn/Temple Grandin

Jane Lynch, Glee

Kelly MacDonald, Boardwalk Empire

Julia Stiles, Dexter

Sofia Vergara, Modern Family

I have a feeling it’s Jane Lynch’s year, in 2010 a lot were left shocked when she missed out on this one. While I’d love to see Sofia Vergara pick this one up, she’s a first timer who needs another GG nomination under her belt before she triumphs. Another trophy for Sue Sylvester to add to her collection.

Patsy’s Prediction: Jane Lynch/Glee

WINNER: Jane Lynch/Glee

We’re only happy about one of these splits. And it’s Spencer “Aptly named” Pratt and Heidi Moonboobs. Not that we ever loved Gavin and Charlotte but you know, there’s kids involved there.

Yes it’s true darlings, the Twitts Pratts have called it a day as have Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson. Since the latter one is the latest story we’ll talk about that one first. The News of the World exclusively revealed today the couple are to split after 5 years and two children, Ruby and Dexter. Gavin has reportedly moved out of the £1.2 million mansion the couple share after telling friends: “It’s over”. A source told NOTW:

“It is an incredibly sad state of affairs. Both Gavin and Charlotte are deeply distraught.

“But after a lot of soul-searching, they realised this is the best course of action for them and the children. It was a mutual decision.” Yeah I’m sure….

The news comes after the couple announced their engagement 6 weeks ago while Charlotte appeared as a judge on BBC 1’s Over the Rainbow and Gavin appeared falling out of many pubs *Quelle Suprise* Although it’s sad when a long term couple splits, we are glad Char has finally ditched Tango Man. Onwards and upwards lady.

Kudos freisin for Heidi Montag, who dumped her total penis of a husband, Spencer Pratt as according to her bezzie mate (who of course blabbed all to TMZ) he was holding her hostage from friends and family. Methinks him calling her mum a “vagina” a few weeks ago prolly pushed her over the edge. Still, we’ll imagine this will all be great material for when Montag starts filming her new reality TV show in July. Or am I just getting cynical in my old age….?!

Some sad news today.

Corey Haim, former star of The Lost Boys and BFF of Corey Feldman was found dead in his apartment in the early hours of this morning. LAPD sources told website TMZ.com that they believe his death was caused by an accidental overdose. Several bottles of prescription drugs were found in the actor’s home.

Haim had been in and out of rehab many times battling addiction but claimed recently he was doing well when asked if he was sober.

Corey shot to fame in the 1980s alongside other stars such as Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Patric and Charlie Sheen but was best known for his role in The Lost Boys and dating Victoria Beckham briefly. His career had sadly been on the downslide for a number of years until he teamed up with friend Feldman to star in reality TV show “The Two Coreys”. Prior to his death he had been involved in numerous projects.

RIP Corey.

Every movie fan, critic and bookmaker has been debating who will be the big winners at Sunday night’s Academy Awards. It’s Cameron v Bigelow, Avatar v Hurt Locker, and Meryl vs Sandra. It’s not what one would dub a vintage year for film, but there’s been a few little gems and some of the Oscar wins are too close to call. Let’s see if Patsy Stone can fare any better this year than last:

Best Actor:
Jeff Bridges is the front runner here for his turn in Crazy Heart and at this point should be doing the rounds with a wheelbarrow given the number of awards he’s won for his performance as Bad Blake. While in another year you would gift that statue to any of the four other contenders – there has been a lot of noise about Colin Firth and Jeremy Renner in particular, Bridges has taken the spoils at almost every major awards ceremony and not a single contender is close on his heels. The term “shoe-in” is an understatement.
Patsy’s Prediction: Jeff Bridges

Best Actress:
I’ve a feeling there could an upset in this category – Meryl Streep‘s performance as Julia Child was faultless. Then again the Academy might just stick with being predictable this year and go with Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side. Bullock who is one of three first time nominees is Hollywood’s Prom Queen this year and thanks to popularity may just shade it. But if Streep picks up Oscar No: 3, remember I did say she might. Personally if I had to pick, it’d be between Streep and Gabourey Sidibe.
Patsy’s Prediction: Probably Sandra. But maybe Meryl.

Best Supporting Actor:
In the week leading up to the Oscars, there has been talk of the dark horses in this catagory – namely Matt Damon for Invictus and Woody Harrelson in The Messenger. But logic suggest this one is Inglorious Basterds Christoph Waltz‘s for the taking on Sunday night…basically because he’s won everything. Despite the dark horses, Waltz has a clear lead on other contenders.
Patsy’s Prediction: Christoph Waltz

Best Supporting Actress:
Another award that’s a shoe-in for one contender, yet at the same time it’s hard to overlook the others. Anna Kendrick proved her acting chops in Up In The Air and would be an interesting choice…but then along came Precious and Mo’Nique’s devastating performance as an abusive mother. Maggie Gyllenhaal is a possibility but ultimately faces too stiff a competition. This one, deservedly, will go to Mo’Nique.
Patsy’s Prediction: Mo’Nique

Best Director:
The one every movie buff has been debating since awards season kicked off. Will it go to James Cameron for the revolutionary Avatar – or his ex wife Katheryn Bigelow, for powerful war film The Hurt Locker? Since Katheryn’s win would make her the first female ever to win this award, methinks that factor will sway it for the Academy – but it’ll be neck and neck.
Patsy’s Prediction: Katheryn Bigelow

Best Picture:
For the first time there is 10 picture nominations in this category. Despite excellent competition it might as well have been between 2 – it’s Avatar vs The Hurt Locker. The latter has picked up momentum on the awards circuit of late and Best Film along with Best Director are the strongest categories for a win. Even the bookies can’t predict this one so I’m a bit stumped. But if Bigelow gets best director, maybe they might hand this one to James Cameron for Avatar.
Patsy’s Prediction: Avatar

Best Original Screenplay:
Luckily for The Hurt Locker it’s not against Up In The Air here so it stands a decent chance of bringing this one home. But the wickedly delightful Basterds screenplay has more than a possibility of taking this away from Hurt Locker and I wouldn’t bat a false eyelash if it did.
Patsy’s Prediction: What the hell…Inglorious Basterds

Best Adapted Screenplay:
Without a doubt this one should really go to Reitman and Turner’s Up In The Air. But I need to stretch this to more than one line so considering the other nominees Nick Hornby’s An Education would be a good choice too.
Patsy’s Prediction: Up in the Air

Best Animated Feature:
Before I saw Up I would have thought Coraline had it in the bag. But it seems critics loved it, movie goers and voters it seems: not so much. Pixar pretty much own this category and Up is one of their best animated films for a long while so it’s a no-brainer. The Fantastic Mr. Fox has the slightest of chances here too.
Patsy’s Prediction: Up

Best Foreign Film:
There has been a lot of talk about Un Prophete among the critics and rightly so, after it picked up a host of awards across Europe. However Das Weisse Band won the Palm D’or and a Golden Globe – based on win history you could see Un Prophete losing out to it’s rival nominee.
Patsy’s Prediction: Das Weisse Band

Best Original Song:
I don’t know about you lot, but I hate when they do the film songs bit. It’s like an upgraded version of Eurovision sans Wogan. But every now and then there’s a gem or two in this category and T-Bone Burnett and Ryan Bingham’s The Weary Kind (Crazy Heart) is indeed a gem. Randy Newman has 2 nominations here but I’ll lose the will to live if the Academy give it to him.
Patsy’s Prediction: The Weary Kind (Crazy Heart)

Best Original Score:
Michael Giacchino’s Up seems to be the score in the lead here with a rake of wins. Avatar is running close behind – it is James Horner after all, and the man has shamefully only won 2 Oscars. But I don’t expect surprises in this category and Avatar will clean up elsewhere.
Patsy’s Predictions: Up (Michael Giacchino)

Best Visual Effects:
There are only three nominees here and one of ’em is Avatar (The other two are District Nine and Star Trek). So…..
Patsy’s Predictions: Avatar

Best Cinematography:
This will be an interesting one, even for those of you who watch only to see what actor/film/director wins what. Das Weisse Band has been heralded as the one that should win by critics and cinematographers alike – in fact it recently won an award from the American Society of Cinematographers….but then there’s Avatar. While undoubtedly the latter film will trounce others in most awards it faces a tougher competition ina category like this and it’ll be interesting to see what way Academy voters swing.
Patsy’s Prediction: Avatar (but if the Academy is feeling a mite rebellious…Das Weisse Band)

Best Editing:
This is yet another 2 horse race between The Hurt Locker and Avatar and given that the former feature picked up a prestigious ACE for editing, I’m inclined to believe Hurt’s Chris Innis and Bob Murawsk will need to make room for Oscar on their respective mantelpieces.
Patsy’s Prediction: The Hurt Locker

Best Art Direction:
Avatar has made awards like Art Direction self-guaranteed- and there’s few films that can touch it. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is another visually stunning film but doesn’t stand a chance against Cameron’s masterpiece.
Patsy’s Prediction: Avatar

Best Costume Design:
Unless there is a particularly strong contender, it seems period flicks always win this one. And what do you know – we have a period flick! Love the elegant style of Coco Before Chanel but The Young Victoria will leave it in the dust.
Patsy’s Prediction: The Young Victoria

Best Make-Up:
Another short category with only three nominees – Il Divo, Star Trek and The Young Victoria. As the English period feature was the only one to win a major (BAFTA) for Make-Up it’ll most likely pick up the Oscar here too.
Patsy’s Prediction: The Young Victoria

Best Sound Mixing:
Avatar has already won a CAS and a Golden Reel for Sound Mixing and Editing and there’s really no one stronger than it this year.
Patsy’s Prediction: Avatar

Best Sound Editing:
It’s not always the case that the same film will win both Sound Mixing and Editing but Avatar will likely be an exception to that rule.
Patsy’s Predictions: Once again…Avatar

Best Short Film (Animated):
I’m slightly biased with this one: I really want Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty to win, it’s Irish and a quirky little short with stunning visuals but it’s up against Nick Park’s Wallace and Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death (great title). And as Nick Park is the Daddy of animated shorts the other nominees stand little chance against him, even though some of them such as Logorama is extremely enjoyable.
Patsy’s Predictions: A Matter of Loaf and Death

Best Short Film (Live Action):
I’ll be straight up here: Not seen a single one of these short films. But I have been looking at how they’ve done at other awards ceremonies and who the critics think might win the award and it’s all about Kavi, a tale of a young boy forced into slave labour in India. Sounds like a riot….The Door is another short with more than a chance in this category and I’ve heard nothing but good about it.
Patsy’s Prediction: Maybe it’s wrong that “child with dreams+India+forced into indecent labour” screams SLUMDOG!!! to me and therefore shouldn’t win but given I haven’t seen the film that’s my initial take on what I’ve heard. Kavi will probably win but The Door sounds like a far more interesting choice.

Best Documentary (Short):
The Last Truck: Closing of a GM Plant is a truly fascinating and insightful documentary given the current global economic climate and has garnered fantastic reviews thus far. However China’s Unnatural Disaster, the story of the 2008 earthquake in China is powerful, harrowing and surely brought a tear to the eye of the most hard hearted viewer. The Last Campaign is another nominee that provoked great debate on the subject of assisted suicide, but considering the subject matter has a political backdrop and the Academy’s hesitance to “go there” it’ll likely lose out.
Patsy’s Predictions: China’s Unnatural Disaster: The Tears of Sichuan Province

Best Documentary (Feature):
The Most Dangerous Man In America carries some clout here with it’s win at the National Board of Review. But I’m wary to back a win for any film up against one that’s sad with kids/dolphins in it – and Which Way Home, a story of Mexican child migrants is a fellow contender. Speaking of dolphins, movie buffs are calling this award for The Cove, which has 23 award wins this season and remains the most honoured documentary of 2009/2010 – I think they might be right on the money.
Patsy’s Prediction: The Cove

Cheryl Cole’s Management finally announced the news this afternoon that the Girls Aloud singer has seperated from her rotten, lying cheating scumbag husband. Cheryl, 26, who left the United Kingdom last week for LA after her performance at the Brits returned this morning just as her rotten, lying, cheating, scumbag husband departed the country, fearful his wife would hobble him permanently after she learned explicit images of Ashley had been sent from a mobile phone to several women. Since the allegations first appeared in a national tabloid newspaper, other women have come forward and stated they had slept with Ashley. The footballer has denied all claims (well he would, wouldn’t he?). The Sun Newspaper revealed last weekend Cheryl texted Ashley from LA and told him to move out before she returned home. This afternoon, shortly after 4PM, Supersonic Management issued the following press release:

“Cheryl Cole is separating from her husband Ashley Cole. Cheryl asks the media to respect her privacy during this difficult time.

We have no further comment to make.”

As a nation – several nations in fact – cheer and applaud loudly at the news Cheryl finally got sense, one has to feel sorry for the poor love. Cheryl, whenever you’re feeling up to it, I’m throwing you a divorce party. I’m off to open a bottle of Bolly.

Anne Hathaway and Academy president Tom Sherak announced the Oscar Nominations this morning. Tres predictable after the Golden Globes and the SAGs but there have been a few surprises thrown in for good measure. Avatar, The Hurt Locker and Up In The Air have done well with numerous nominations, however none for Julianne Moore (sad face) for her role in A Single Man or Saoirse Ronan for The Lovely Bones. No nod for Clint either for directing Invictus. The Oscars take place on March 7th.

Here’s the full list of noms – Cinematography, Foreign Film n’ all…after you’ve done reading, leave us a comment? Good choices for nominations or was some actor of film FUCKING ROBBED? Share. We care.

But it’s alright because Stace was talking about her girlhood dream of becoming a vet someday.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Solomon (20), reveals her two main ambitions as a child were to have a a ‘baby-pink Disney palace’ and to be a vet.
Lucky for us Stacey went to an X Factor audition instead where she wowed judges with her version of “Wonderful World” and finished the competition in 3rd place.

The proclaimed Dagenham Diva also spoke of the rumours about her and fellow contestant Olly Murs sharing a kiss: “They (the media) said there was a kiss and everything – ughh! Olly is the spitting image of my brother, and the fact that people are writing that we kissed… I’m like, “Ooh, that’s disgusting.”

On Jedward: ‘I love Jedward. There is not one bad bone in their body, and I just think that good things should happen to good people. Everything they say is completely honest and just the first thing that comes out of their head, and I am the same.’

Solomon also addressed a story that appeared in the paper by an old friend who claimed she pole-danced in a nightclub: When you go into this business you accept that this kind of ludicrous story will be written. Not everyone is going to like you – I know that from real life in general. I know I could go into a room of a hundred people and ten of them could like me and the other 90 could be, “Well, I don’t really like her”. But I know that I am a good person; I know that I have never lied and I have never been mean, so if people want to write horrible stuff, let it be on their conscience.

You can read the full interview with Stacey in the Daily Mail Here

The News of the World newspaper has reported today that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are set to split.

The couple who have been together since 2005 are supposedly in talks with lawyers about splitting their $330 million (yes you read that right) fortune and the custody of their 6 children. Mars Bar if you can name ’em all without resorting to Google.

The UK tabloid revealed exclusively that legal papers signed in secret by Brangelina in January detail how all their homes and assets will be divided.

Rumours about the split began last year as it emerged a tell all book about the couple: “Brangelina: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie” was being published which gave an insight into their tumultuous relationship, rows and sex life.
Reports in the National Enquirer followed, stating the famous pair’s steamy relationship was on the rocks for some time. This rumour was further substantiated after they were seen less frequently together and Jolie made controversial comments about fidelity.

Brad was previously married to actress Jennifer Aniston. The marriage ended in 2005 amid stories he had been courting Jolie on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Jolie has been married to Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. She and Pitt are not married.

When asked to comment to News of the World Brangelina’s representatives refused to make any statement.

Do you think it’s true? We’ll hold out until we see the “Team Brad/Angie” t-shirts.

UPDATE: Perez Hilton has reported that Brad and Angelina’s reps have said they are NOT separating. Hilton is a great source but we’re still holding out…

…And TMZ say that multiple sources close to the couple have stated to TMZ the rumours are “BS”.

Ok kids, once again it’s time for Patsy’s Annual Golden Globes predictions. Last year we didn’t do so well and considering I haven’t seen a lot of the stuff nominated it’s unlikely I’ll do much better this time around. I must say I love the Globes even if Brangelina is a no show this year because it has awards, booze and celebrities which really is a genius combination if Mariah Carey is anything to go by. Adding to this salivating mix is The Office and Extra star Ricky Gervais who takes on hosting duties this year and if there’s one thing I might predict correctly: this show is set to be an absolute cracker. Right here goes:

<img aria-describedby="caption-attachment-316" loading="lazy" data-attachment-id="316" data-permalink="https://patsystone.wordpress.com/2010/01/16/313/the-hurt-locker/" data-orig-file="https://patsystone.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/the-hurt-locker.jpg" data-orig-size="621,800" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"0","credit":"","camera":"","caption":"","created_timestamp":"0","copyright":"","focal_length":"0","iso":"0","shutter_speed":"0","title":""}" data-image-title="The Hurt Locker" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="<p>The Hurt Locker, nominated for several Golden Globes</p>

Best Motion Picture – Drama
Avatar
The Hurt Locker
Inglourious Basterds
Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire
Up in the Air
The Hurt Locker created a buzz at the Critic’s Choice Awards taking home the Best Picture over much lauded rival Avatar. It’s a war movie that offers an insightful perspective on Iraq and war movies and awards go together like peas and carrots as Forrest would say (Gump, not Whittaker). The win on Friday night is an indication that this film is a serious contender for plenty of awards, despite extremely stiff competition from the amazing Avatar and I feel it’ll have the slightest of edges come Sunday night.
Patsy’s Prediction: The Hurt Locker

Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
(500) Days of Summer
The Hangover
It’s Complicated
Julie & Julia
Nine
I really think Nine might win this, purely because it’s got that stellar cast. There are so many famous people in Nine the 3rd AD was probably a celebrity. Julie and Julia may have received mixed reviews, but the critics loved Meryl and many movie fans called for an Oscar nomimation for Streep’s warm and engaging performance as Julia Child. The Hangover which has had huge popularity could have an outsider’s chance here but Nine will have to win some awards and has tougher competition in other categories.
Patsy’s Prediction: Nine

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama
Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart
George Clooney for Up in the Air
Colin Firth for A Single Man
Morgan Freeman for Invictus
Tobey Maguire for Brothers
There are 3 serious contenders here. Tobey Maguire was good in Brothers but not Golden Globe Winner good and Clooney, who must be 2009’s Hardest Working Actor delivered in the delightful Up In The Air but stands little chance against the remaining nominees. I mean, Morgan Freeman is playing Nelson Mandela for Christ’s sakes! He would have that Globe in the bag if her weren’t up against Colin Firth, who is both wonderful and heart breaking in A Single Man and Jeff Bridges, who has blown everyone away with his performance as a broken down singer in Crazy Heart. Will any superficial similarity to The Wrestler hurt his chances? This is a hard one to call.
Patsy’s Prediction: I could be wrong, but I think Jeff Bridges will collect.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama
Emily Blunt for The Young Victoria
Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side
Helen Mirren for The Last Station
Carey Mulligan for An Education
Gabourey Sidibe for Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire
Every actress in this category is a strong contender and it’s almost impossible to say for certain who will take the spoils – but Hollywood has been raving about rising British star Carey Mulligan for a few months now. Sidibe and Bullock provide stiff competition. This could be the award that provides the biggest surprise of the night.
Patsy’s Prediction: 2010 is Carey Mulligan’s year.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
Matt Damon for The Informant!
Daniel Day-Lewis for Nine
Robert Downey Jr. for Sherlock Holmes
Joseph Gordon-Levitt for (500) Days of Summer
Michael Stuhlbarg for A Serious Man
I’d love to see RDJ win for Sherlock Holmes, not just because he was deliciously roguish as Sherlock Holmes but also because he is blimmin’ fit. This one is between him and Daniel Day, a man who seems to have a strong awards magnetism.
Patsy’s Prediction: Daniel Day Lewis (but wants Robert Downey Jnr to win)

Meryl Streep: Nominated for It's Complicated and Julie and Julia

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
Sandra Bullock for The Proposal
Marion Cotillard for Nine
Julia Roberts for Duplicity
Meryl Streep for It’s Complicated
Meryl Streep for Julie & Julia
It’s Meryl vs Meryl here. I think Meryl might win.
Patsy’s Prediction: Meryl. Oh alright then – for Julie and Julia.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture

Matt Damon for Invictus
Woody Harrelson for The Messenger
Christopher Plummer for The Last Station
Stanley Tucci for The Lovely Bones
Christoph Waltz for Inglorious Basterds
Patsy really really wants the incomparable Stanley Tucci to win for The Lovely Bones. He really should. But he probably won’t. Bollocks anyway.
Patsy’s Predictions: It’ll probably be Christoph Waltz but I don’t know why. Even Matt Damon should win over him.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Penélope Cruz for Nine
Vera Farmiga for Up in the Air
Anna Kendrick for Up in the Air
Mo’Nique for Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire
Julianne Moore for A Single Man
Anna Kendrick has captured the attention of critics and movie-goers alike in Up In The Air and she’s one of the only Twilight crew that has really shown versatility. That’s just my humble opinion incase some R-Pattz fans decide to take me out. I think she’s a favourite here, but remember Oprah is a producer of Precious so it has to win something at the Globes because no one dares piss Oprah off. And by many accounts Mo’Nique gave a great performance. I’d love to see Julianne Moore win for her turn in A Single Man (why hasn’t this woman got more awards?!) but it seems every year she is nominated she has tough competition.
Patsy’s Prediction: Mo’Nique – she’s already winning awards for her performance.

Best Director – Motion Picture
Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker
James Cameron for Avatar
Clint Eastwood for Invictus
Jason Reitman for Up in the Air
Quentin Tarantino for Inglourious Basterds
It’s Bigelow against Cameron here. And what’s brilliant is that they used to be married to each other. Well maybe not brilliant, but interesting nonetheless. Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds is good, but not one of his best and Reitman is talent personified but once again, it’s another tough category. Clint Eastwood’s for Invitcus would be a wonderful choice but it has not generated the same noise from critics as others have.
Patsy’s Prediction: Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker, but only if it trounces Avatar in the other catagories.

Best Screenplay – Motion Picture
District 9: Neill Blomkamp, Terri Tatchell
The Hurt Locker: Mark Boal
Inglourious Basterds: Quentin Tarantino
It’s Complicated: Nancy Meyers
Up in the Air: Jason Reitman, Sheldon Turner
Up in the Air’s screenplay is a little gem and it won a Critic’s Choice Award, but will it conquer the unstoppable Hurt Locker? District 9 has to win at least one Globe which might cost Up in the Air here.
Patsy’s Prediction : I’ll take a risk and say Up in the Air. It deserves to win.

Best Original Song – Motion Picture
Avatar: James Horner, Simon Franglen, Kuk Harrell(“I See You”)
Brothers: U2, Bono(“Winter”)
Crazy Heart: T-Bone Burnett, Ryan Bingham(“The Weary Kind”)
Everybody’s Fine: Paul McCartney(“(I Want To) Come Home”)
Nine: Maury Yeston(“Cinema Italiano”)
James Horner is the Mac Daddy of scoring film and probably has won more awards than he has had hot dinners, but this time he is up against a Beatle and Bono. But the best song of the lot has got to be The Weary Kind and as everyone is currently all over Crazy Heart T-Bone Burnett’s work stands a serious chance.
Patsy’s Prediction: The Weary Kind (Crazy Heart)

James Cameron's masterpiece: Avatar

The Informant!: Marvin Hamlisch
Up: Michael Giacchino
Where the Wild Things Are: Carter Burwell, Karen Orzolek
Up has beautiful music but James Horner’s powerful score for Avatar is worth a nod, and the film has to win a Golden Globe or two – without Special Effects the film will not win as many as people think it will.
Patsy’s Prediction: Avatar (James Horner)

Best Animated Film
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Coraline
The Princess and the Frog
Up
Cloudy… and Coraline were two of last year’s best flicks if a little bit dark (as was The Fantastic Mr. Fox) but everyone, especially Awards Peoples loves a Pixar film.
Patsy’s Prediction: Up

Best Foreign Language Film
Los abrazos rotos
Baarìa
Das weisse Band – Eine deutsche Kindergeschichte
La nana
Un prophète
I won’t lie to you, I’ve never even heard of these films although I am a fan of foreign films in general. In fact I’ve starred in a few in my heyday but that’s a story for another time. So I’ll just plump for the one that won at Critic’s Choice because I haven’t a clue.
Patsy’s Prediction: Los abrazos rotos – if it was a favouite with critics the HFP will probably go for it too.

“Mad Men”
“True Blood”
I could be really predictable and say either House or Mad Men, both great shows. But True Blood has a strong follow and Dexter is a cult favourite so either could cause an surprise.
Patsy’s Predictions: I’ll say Dexter, I think it’s about time it was recognised by the Hollywood Foreign Press after 7 nominations.

Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy
Nominees:
“Entourage”
“Glee”
“Modern Family”
“The Office”
“30 Rock”
As much as I love 30 Rock, I am sick of it winning everything. Glee is musically fabulous but it’s plots are weak, Modern Family, while not what one would call ground breaking comedy has it’s moments and could win here but I’ve a sinking feeling Tiny Fey’s comedy will win it’s 107th Globe.
Patsy’s Prediction: Oh feck it – Glee then. It did well at People’s Choice.

Taking Chance
I am a big big fan of Grey Gardens, having seen it for the first time at Christmas. It’s won almost every award it was up for, even Ken Howard got an Emmy and he must have been on screen for less than 10 minutes. No point in looking at the other nominees, Grey Gardens has this one.
Patsy’s Prediction: Grey Gardens

Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television
Kevin Bacon for Taking Chance
Kenneth Branagh for “Wallander”
Chiwetel Ejiofor for Endgame
Brendan Gleeson for Into the Storm
Jeremy Irons for Georgia O’Keeffe
Branagh and Gleeson are my two favourites here, although I have always had a soft spot for Jeremy Irons. Thing is Georgia O’Keefe seems like a poisoned chalice where awards are concerned and Branagh/Gleeson have already won awards for their performances which bodes well for Sunday night.
Patsy’s Prediction: Kenneth Branagh to shade it over Brendan Gleeson

Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television

Joan Allen for Georgia O’Keeffe
Drew Barrymore for Grey Gardens
Jessica Lange for Grey Gardens
Anna Paquin for The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler
Sigourney Weaver for Prayers for Bobby

It’s disappointing Georgia O’Keefe got it’s ass whooped by Grey Gardens at every awards bash, but the latter is infinitely better. Drew really should win for her performance as Little Edie Beale but critics love Ms Lange.
Patsy’s Prediction: Jessica Lange

Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy
Alec Baldwin for “30 Rock”
Steve Carell for “The Office”
David Duchovny for “Californication”
Thomas Jane for “Hung”
Matthew Morrison for “Glee”
Love Matthew Morrison as well as the talented David Duchovny and Steve Carrell. Don’t watch Hung, although I’ve heard good things. And see my earlier 30 Rock rant if you’re wondering why I am not bigging up Alec Baldwin. There’s no one here who really stands out for me.
Patsy’s Prediction: That around the time they announce this award I’ll be filling the kettle. Erm… Thomas Jane (why not?)

Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy
Toni Collette for “United States of Tara”
Courteney Cox for “Cougar Town”
Edie Falco for “Nurse Jackie”
Tina Fey for “30 Rock”
Lea Michele for “Glee”
Toni Collette beat hot favourites at the Emmys for United States of Tara and she could do the same at the Globes – but then Tina Fey can never be ruled out and Edie Falco’s dark, pill popping morally corrupt Nurse Jackie has garnered a lot of critical interest.
Patsy’s Prediction: Toni Collette

Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama
Simon Baker for “The Mentalist”
Michael C. Hall for “Dexter”
Jon Hamm for “Mad Men”
Hugh Laurie for “House M.D.”
Bill Paxton for “Big Love”
I bet others predicting the outcome of the Golden Globes will say Michael C. Hall for Dexter. And Jon Hamm + Hugh Laurie ÷ Hollywood Foreign Press = 0. So who wins then?
Patsy’s Prediction: Michael C. Hall because Dexter is really really good.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama
Glenn Close for “Damages”
January Jones for “Mad Men”
Julianna Margulies for “The Good Wife”
Anna Paquin for “True Blood”
Kyra Sedgwick for “The Closer”
I haven’t seen The Good Wife yet, but Julianna Margulies looks quite good in it. If the 30 second ad for the show is anything to go by, she should win. Frankly I think she’s owed a Globe by the Hollywood Foreign Press, given how she was blatently ROBBED the year Snakes on a Plane came out. Kyra Sedgwick is nominated too often for The Closer, at this stage they should just give her one (an award that is, you sick minded lot).
Patsy’s Prediction: January Jones – because if Mad Men don’t win anything, I’ll expect the sky to fall.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
Michael Emerson for “Lost”
Neil Patrick Harris for “How I Met Your Mother”
William Hurt for “Damages”
John Lithgow for “Dexter”
Jeremy Piven for “Entourage”
It’s about time Neil Patrick Harris won an award for the hilarious How I Met Your Mother. That is all.
Patsy’s Prediction: Neil Patrick Harris – unless the HFO have a thing about rival awards presenters winning one of their awards.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
Jane Adams for “Hung”
Rose Byrne for “Damages”
Jane Lynch for “Glee”
Janet McTeer for Into the Storm
Chloë Sevigny for “Big Love”
Jane Lynch is fab as acerbic gym teacher Sue in Glee and I think she’ll have it tough against Janet McTeer and Rose Byrne. Glee has got to win a GG or I’ll eat my Phillip Tracey.
Patsy’s Prediction: Jane Lynch

So what about you? Who do you want to win what and why? Leave a comment!

BREAKING NEWS: While I was wasting the day away on Twitter Dannii Minogue announced on her Twitter page that she was expecting her first child with rugby player Kris Green. Around 11AM GST Dannii tweeted “Woohoo! I’m gonna be a mummy! :)” The announcement comes after a months of speculation Minogue was pregnant and a denial earlier this week from Dannii’s publicists who finally confirmed the news.

Minogue’s spokesman Simon Jones said: “Dannii and Kris are very excited and can’t wait to start their family in 2010.

“Rumours and stories surfaced across the weekend about Dannii being pregnant and having already had her 12-week scan.

“These stories were incorrect. Dannii had her 12-week scan this week and was given the results today with the all-clear to make an announcement.”

Hopefully this big news about Dannii makes up for my rotten blatant lie about my Cheryl News a while ago!

Patsy is thrilled for Dannii and Kris – congratulations! And of course congrats to Kylie, whose gonna be an Aunt!
