Dear internet friends:

I am on my out the door for a month long tour from coast to coast! I will be touring with Leslie and the Lys, Ramona and the Swimsuits, and Pennyhawk! This is my 5th tour with Leslie, oh the places we have and will journey to. Please click on the tiny jetpack picture below for a link to our tour dates. After tests and trials I have decided to start a tour tumblr just for daily pictures from the road. I decided that my phone will be doing all the work and it seems to have a smoother ride with tumblr... BUT we will see. Apps can be frustrating eh?!? What a time to be alive. Here is one of my favorite tour pictures ever: Karen getting a home perm in a hotel bathroom on a day off. Oops we curled her bangs up real nice!

I made Ramona and the Swimsuits a bandcamp page! We recorded some songs and so I decided to put them online so we have some sort of identity. Our first EP is called MAKE A SPLASH. It is fun to be in a band with people who are so musically gifted, they can fix any problem it seems. I also had shirts printed by the lovely Cortnie at the White Rabbit in Iowa City, they will be for sale on the road.

SO JUST TO CLARIFY: for the next month plus this blog will be stagnant and all excitement will be happening on 2012 TOUR lady travels. When I return I will be updating this guy more frequently. After tour the spring will be exciting: I will have an art show in Des Moines, I'll be returning to host PUB QUIZ, I have lots of kids classes lined up and have too many ideas to contain.

Our household has gotten a new washer. It is so amazing. I purchased a mountain of amazing dresses for myself from someone this fall and had been wanting to wash them. I didn't want to wash them in the top loader because I was afraid I would destroy them. Anyways, this dress had a stain on it and was in general very dirty. I washed it in the new front loader and it is clean with no harm to its delicateness.

Fall 2011 Fiber Arts Class

Wednesday was my last day of fiber arts with the kiddos for this semester. These girls were so creative, and quick with the needle. We splurged on a pack of fabric markers for this class and it changed everything. The last class period we got so much done.

My favorite part of this whole semester was the last day. I gave them the general idea of how to make a hat and they helped each other finish them while I added elastic to their skirts.

Sweater and tee: from my aunt. She bought this couch potato shirt in San Fran in the 80s and thought I'd love it. I DO. She has long arms so she saves me all of her nice wool sweaters that have shrunk.
Pants: new high waisted jeans from H&M. I try not to buy new, but I have been wanting a pair of jeans like this for a year now! Finally. They are perfect.

It was the Friday before Halloween so I loosely dressed as Cindy Brady for work. It certainly got me rethinking all of these thick polyester dresses. I was refusing to wear them, but they are alright in the winter. The colors are always so bright and for this reason I love looking at them but not usually wearing them....

YO GABBA adventure

OH WOW! Last Sunday Carissa and I drove to Des Moines where we met up with Cat and Andy and all rolled on down to Kansas City for Yo Gabba Gabb LIVE! It was so fun to see Leslie, eat food, and watch Andy watch Yo Gabba Gabba. His mouth was open the whole time, we weren't sure if he was enjoying it. Then Monday I got a phone call from Cat and Andy and he kept talking about"YO GABBA," and then he told me he loved me. I win major aunt points care of Leslie. BOOYAH.

Here are the photo highlights of our adventure.

He even made me tell make believe stories about Leslie on the way home and when I would introduce other characters he would stop me and make me talk about her more.

22. It was so fun to see everyone. DJ Lance and Cassidy: two of the nicest people on the planet!

23.WEEE! DJ Lance gave Andy a signed picture. Andy was much less afraid of him than Leslie.

headbands

I made some headbands on Wednesday after my class. I had so many things I could have/should have made but alas I made headbands. It is the scrap hoarder in me that wants to justify keeping small pieces of fabric by making SOMETHING out of them. I brought them into the White Rabbit. They are $6 each. I am wearing this one today. I love the way it is kind of warm on my ears, but not as hot as an official ear warmer. As you can see I have greasy hair, which headbands work well for covering up.

Here are 2 dresses that I altered and brought into the White Rabbit to sell. The first one came with that green triangle insert, but had a high neckline and was super long. The second dress had giant sleeves so I removed them and made it shorter! Just went to the thrift store today and am wishing that I just didn't require sleep so that I could get to all of these projects!
