UPDATE: We couple use a few last-minute submissions of general GoT-themed mayhem. Submissions accepted through Friday evening, April 22nd. Thanks!

We’re gearing up to release a new song—one inspired by Game of Thrones and George R. R. Martin—and want YOUR HELP to make the video, because <del>we’re cheap and lazy, and don’t want to do it all ourselves</del> we have the most amazing fans in the world! It’s really easy: email us a drawing of a person or people being killed. Fun, right?

A few more details before you email ’em to us:

It doesn’t have to be great art. I mean, we absolutely will welcome great art, but we’ll equally welcome not-great art. Stick figures? Cool. MS Paint? Bring it on.

Ideally, the person/people should be clad in a fashion that is reminiscent of Game of Thrones. Doesn’t have to be, though. Can’t draw a person in armor, monk robes, or khalssei-wear? Per the first bullet above, no problem.

Keep it on the funny side. Blood and gore are okay, so long as it’s WACKY blood and gore. (But by no means do we require blood and gore.)

Get creative with it, and have fun.

Not into bullet points? Here are a couple of basic examples:

You can totally do that! I mean, what’s that person riding in the second drawing? A horse? Maybe. Why is it dead, too? Dunno. Again, you’re welcome to spend more than the 20 seconds each of those took, but seriously: no pressure.

NOW LET’S DO THIS! E-mail us a digital version of your image—photo of it is fine if necessary, though a scan is better, and the higher resolution, the better—along with how you’d like to be credited. (Name, Twitter handle, website, whatever; we’ll do our best to accommodate all reasonable credit submissions.) DEADLINE: let’s say Wednesday, April 6th.

For clarity’s/officialness’ sake: your submission of your artwork to us grants us the non-exclusive use of said artwork in the above-described music video, in return for screen credit. No other compensation shall be offered or is implied. Additionally, any art you submit must be your own and you must control all rights to its use.

It’s here—the new animated special you’ve been waiting for! Years from now, as you snuggle up on the couch with whomever is important to you at that point, hot cocoa and future-snacks in hand, you’ll forget that there was ever a first time that you watched it. That’s how ingrained it will have become in the collective mind of the world, much like all those Rankin-Bass favorites, “The Grinch That Stole Christmas”, and “It’s Christmas, Charlie Brown!”

So for the first time, please enjoy Part One of The Paul and Storm Nondenominational Perennial Holiday Special, animated by The Brothers Chaps (of Homestar Runner fame), written by Josh A. Cagan and yours trulies, and featuring the additional voice talents of Matt Chapman and Kim Evey. (Along with a few cameos from special friends; blink and you’ll miss ’em!) Part Two will be released in much less time than it took to put together Part 1, which is to say…Soon™.

And of course special thanks to our Kickstarter backers, without whom this almost certainly would never have happened. See the video’s description on YouTube for complete credits.

BTW, if you want the songs for your very own, they’re available on our Bandcamp page.

The fruits of our Ball Pit Kickstarter are ripening and falling off the tree! Please enjoy “This Song”, the first of two new music videos we’re releasing this week. It’s more or less for everyone who’s ever asked us “Did you do that song for [commercial X]?”, or “Why doesn’t [company X,Y, and/or Z] use you for their ads, instead of hiring actors to portray a charming, talented, handsome, and humble musical duo?”*

Big thanks to Director Sean Becker and Producer Kim Evey for making this video look like a million dollars. And of course special thanks to our Kickstarter backers for providing the actual dollars, as well as everyone who gave up a Sunday afternoon to come play with us on video.

UPDATE: THANK YOU to the 2,216 people who backed our campaign, in which we raised $114,136 to create many awesome things. Thank you also to everyone who helped us get the word out–it literally would not have been this successful without your help. If you’re a backer, you’ll receive project Updates as we go along through Kickstarter. Otherwise, we’ll be sharing all the delicious fruits of the campaign (except the PaulandStormonomicon story and art anthology, which is only available to backers) once they’ve been completed, and after they’ve been distributed to backers.

After much planning, deliberation, budget analysis, and (mostly) dreaming, we are finally proud to officially announce that we are finishing up our fifth album, Ball Pit, and that we’ll be making it available first to backers of our new Kickstarter campaign, which will help fund music videos, more RPG songlets (and possibly an RPG soundboard app), and a bonus album of cover song collaborations (which will be called Extra Balls, get it?) with some of our musician friends.

Full details are on the Ball Pit launch Kickstarter page, where you can help contribute RIGHT NOW! Or LATER! (Any time between now at December 14th will do just fine, thank you very much.) But the basic idea is to help us make as big a splash as possible with the new album, and give away some fun rewards in the process (including, of course, the BALL PIT and EXTRA BALLS albums). Our initial goal is $25,000, and we’ve got mayhem planned all the way up to $350,000. Basically, the more we raise, the more interesting and awesome things we can do and make for you. And while we don’t expect to raise $350,000, if we do then we’ll buy an ice cream truck and tour the country in it, giving away ice cream and guacamole along the way. (And we’ll film the whole ridiculous trek.)

But don’t just take it from us. Take it from us in this video:

Wanted to give you all the full breakdown of our schedule for Dragon Con this year, because we’re doing kind of a lot.

First off, we will be sharing a merch table with several of our friends in the Marriott Marquis. Your best bet to find us there is to watch our Twitter feed for the specific times we’ll be manning the merch table.

Our “main performance” at the con will be here:

Gonzoroo II
Sat., Aug. 31, 8:30 pm – Marriott Atrium Ballroom
An evening of music, geekery, comedic delights, and surprises galore! With Bill Corbett, Molly Lewis, Sylvester McCoy, Mike Phirman, Ken Plume, Aaron Poole, Adam Savage, Joseph Scrimshaw and James Urbaniak.

In addition, we’ll be doing the following panels:

FRIDAY, AUG. 30

11:30 am – Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (on Average)
Grand Ballroom East – Hilton
Live podcast recording. Neat! Guests? Maybe!

5:30 pm – FRED Entertainment Panel-Palooza-Extrava-Thingee-a-Doodle
Grand Ballroom West – Hilton
A panel that really only exists for the sake of frolicking, bantering, and geeking about with special guests and an Irishman. Host: Ken Plume; other guests: Bill Corbett, Molly Lewis, Aaron Poole, Joseph Scrimshaw and James Urbaniak.

SATURDAY, AUG. 31

11:30 am – I Heart Video Games
Grand Salon D – Hilton
Are videogames modern man’s final art form? Our panelists write, podcast, broadcast, and sing about them…let’s talk about why! Host: Veronica Belmont.

2:30 pm – How to Do Comedy Wrong the Right Way
International North – Hyatt
Learn the dark arts of the funny in this panel about comedy theory and practical application with professional comedians and musicians. Host: Joseph Scrimshaw; other guests: Bill Corbett, Molly Lewis and Mike Phirman.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 1

4 pm – LearningTown: The Webseries: The Panel
Atlanta Ballroom – Westin
A loving look back at the first season of “LearningTown”, the 2013 web series from the “Geek & Sundry” YouTube channel. Other guests: Greg Benson, Kim Evey, Mike Phirman, James Urbaniak.

8:30 pm – Gonzo Quiz Show IV: The Quest for Quiz
Regency VI – VII – Hyatt
Teams of celebrity guests are led through a series of panel show games that you entertained. Host: Ken Plume; other guests: Bill Corbett, Molly Lewis, Sylvester McCoy, Mike Phirman, Aaron Poole, Adam Savage, Joseph Scrimshaw and James Urbaniak.

And that about covers it. If anyone shows up cosplaying as Paul and Storm, that would be awesome. Just sayin’.

*does not imply that you are actually camping

Satire is not for the faint of heart, friends. There we were, innocently opening up w00tstock 5.0 in San Diego by playing our song “Write Like the Wind” when, without provocation or warning, an act of great violence was perpetrated upon yours trulies. Sure, we may have touched a sore spot by imploring George R. R. Martin to write faster. And yes, we may have called him the Great Bearded Glacier. And YES, we’d been warned by Neil Gaiman that George R. R. Martin is not our bitch.

OKAY, FINE…we deserved it. And we should also be grateful that only our guitar was harmed, considering how poorly musicians fare in ASOIAF. So enjoy our comeuppance in three-camera HD by UAT Digital Video (below), or witness it in Veronica Belmont’s scoop video. And yes, if case you were wondering, it was a “Stark”-brand guitar.

We’re still not entirely sure how it happened, but on July 3, what had been literally a dream of ours will come true: a song we wrote will be in a Hollywood summer blockbuster movie. DESPICABLE ME 2 (!!!) to be precise. And the song is “Another Irish Drinking Song”, which we wrote back in our Da Vinci’s Notebook days.

For those familiar with Despicable Me (i.e. Just About Everyone), it will be no surprise to know that “Another Irish Drinking Song” will be sung by the Minions (!!!), the main character Gru’s energetic, adorable, gibberish-spouting and accident-prone…uh…minions. More than that we cannot say, mostly because we signed a non-disclosure agreement. But know that knowing what we know, we are SUPER-excited about how “Another Irish Drinking Song” is featured, and we are going NUTS waiting until July 3 to see it on the big screen.

You can also find the original DVN recording of “Another Irish Drinking Song” on iTunes, Amazon mp3, and other fine digital distribution networks, and can listen to on the CD “Brontosaurus“.

Special thanks to our friend Len Peralta for rendering us as Minions (no, to the best of our knowledge we’re not appearing in the movie!)
