The wedding ceremony took place in the chapel on the ground of MacCreddin Village, while the wedding photography shoot was centred around the chapel and beautiful gardens of Brookelodge with it’s fantastic gardens, veranda with rustic timber decking and the Wicklow hills as the backdrop, Brookelodge and MacCreddin Village truly is a fantastic wedding venue.

The evening wound down with dinner and reception in Brooklodge. On the night the guests had lots of fun in the photobooth. Brooklodge and MacCreddin Village, is beautiful backdrop for any photographed event.

Fiona and Dennis are a couple who enjoys doing things a little bit differently. Fiona and Dennis were married in Westport, Ireland 2 years prior to meeting me. As a fellow wedding industry worker, Fiona has had the idea to photograph her wedding dress being trashed even before she was married. She approached me about making her idea a reality at a Wedding Showcase that we were both working.

In addition to photos featuring her dress being trashed to the point of destruction, Fiona also wished to have some new photo taken with her twin daughters, as she was not pleased with her original wedding photos.

We began the shoot at their home, where we took another set of wedding photos with Dennis and Fiona and their twin girls. From there, the really unique work began. A trip to a local forest provided the perfect setting for her to trash her dress as planned. The ruins of an old gate tower, the grounds of an old church and the forest itself were all featured prominently in this shoot.

So does flowers, fire, blue paint and a chainsaw.

At the end of the day, we returned to her home, so Fiona and her family could take turns tossing blue paint at the dress. Eventually, Fiona jumped into the nearby River Liffey, where she shredded the dress with a knife, ending a one of a kind shoot that left us with some truly remarkable and unique photos.

Laura who hails from Cork and lives in Oslo, Norway, wanted to have her wedding in Ireland. She planned everything from Oslo and even made online bookings in preparation for her big day. Her biggest challenge was in trusting the professionalism of these remote services.

Unfortunately, the morning of the wedding day got off to a bad start with her make-up artist  turning up a whole two hours late and her hair stylist not showing up at all. We admire Laura’s spirit; instead of getting upset, she managed to get herself an appointment at Pure, Hair & Beauty, Enfield at short notice. We arrived just in time to capture the bride’s hair and make-up being done; Laura later thanked us for putting everyone’s rattled nerves at ease and converting the chaos in the room into positive excitement, which clearly comes through in the wedding photographs. We also got some good photos of the groom, Lars, along with their son and daughter and some of the guests in traditional Norwegian attire.

Laura and Lars had a civil ceremony at the Moyvalley Hotel and Golf Resort in Kildare followed by a wedding reception at the same venue. The couple had chosen deep red as their theme colour; this perfectly offset the whites and made for vivid pictures of the bride’s shoes and bouquet, the pretty bridesmaids, the wedding cake; it was truly a red carpet affair.

The bridal entourage and all their family and friends from Ireland and those who flew in from Norway openly displayed various emotions at the civil ceremony and later at the reception. This gave us a chance to take many natural shots to preserve these special memories for Laura and Lars.

 It was basically a rainy day but we managed to get a short outdoor photo shoot when the sky cleared a little. We also got some unique and playful shots of the bride and groom and their close friends and family. It made us at Paul Andrews Photography very happy to see the happy smiles of yet another newlywed couple as they relived their most precious wedding memories through our photography.

A classy and vintage look was everywhere to be found at Janis and Brian’s wedding. We were in Clondalkin, Dublin where the bride prepared for her big day, which was home to her parents. While the scene was hectic as everyone scrambled to get hair and makeup perfect, the bride herself was glowing in happiness, a look we tried to recreate in every photo.

The vintage wedding theme was in every detail to be seen, from the vintage hairstyle, dress, and accessories down to the car and bus that were used.

The wedding took place in the Church of the Divine Mercy in Balgaddy, Lucan, while the photoshoot was centered in Celbridge’s Castletown House. Castletown House was well in theme of this vintage-loving man and wife. The bridal party wore a one-shoulder blue dress that was both simple and quite elegant in design. The blue stood out in many of the photos with a black and white backdrop.

Lastly, the evening wound down with dinner and reception in the Castleknock Hotel and Country Club, a deeply beautiful backdrop for any photographed event. While weddings can serious, I tried to mix in some whimsy with the vintage feel of the theme. While this is just the beginning of Janis and Brian’s life together, it was a memory they can forever keep with the photographs that were taken.

In October of 2012, Tom and Laurena walked down the aisle and married each other in a beautiful Church in Celbridge. Wedding preparations began at Laurena’s parents quaint home located in Ballyfermont, Dublin. Shortly after arriving, I began photographing the lovely bride as she got ready to marry her soul-mate. With elegant beading her dress caught the light wonderfully in the photographs.

The ceremony began a few short hours later, and Tom and Laurena wed in front of their family and friends at St. Patrick’s Church in Celbridge. The church offered many ecclectic photography settings and was the backdrop for many of the photos with the bride and groom. Once the ceremony was completed, family and friends joined the newlywed couple at the Springfield Hotel in Leixlip. Before the reception though, the bride, groom and wedding party stopped at nearby Castleton House to snap a few photos. We used a lot of fun and quirky props, some of which Laurena even brought herself, and everyone in the photos brought a lot of energy to the shoot, which translated into the final wedding photographs.

The reception was tastefully done, and the newlywed couple danced their first dance as the band On the Up Side played one of their favorite songs. The night wound down as a few more photos were snapped of the couple sharing intimate moments, and of their family and friends enjoying themselves at the reception. Laurena and Tom ended their night with a grand celebration with their family and friends, and their love was felt throughout the reception hall.

Edel and Andrew had a magical Irish wedding in August 2012. We got to the parents’ home in Walkinstown, Dublin, by about 10 a.m. to shoot the beautiful bride gearing up for her big day. As relatives called at the house all morning to pass on their best wishes to Edel and her parents, we were reminded that weddings are truly a time to celebrate family bonds. Her brother even flew in from the States that very morning to an emotional reunion as the siblings hadn’t met for quite a few years.

Thankfully, the overcast sky that threatened to ruin the celebration earlier in the day was replaced by the glorious sun by the time the bridal entourage made their way to St. Agnes’ Parish, Crumlin, for the nuptials. The beautiful interiors of the church looked lovelier with various floral arrangements by Candlelight Weddings. And what’s a wedding without a fancy car. Edel and Andrew chose a vintage Beauford from Gold Cars, which brought timeless elegance to their pictures.

After the newly-weds were congratulated by their friends and family that attended the wedding service, we took a short trip to the green expanse at St. Patrick’s within Maynooth University for some romantic couple photos.

We were not far from their reception venue at Springfield Hotel, Leixlip and made it in time to witness a jovial gathering. We’re proud to have captured many special memories for Edel and Andrew to treasure forever.

Sarah and Stephen’s April wedding saw somewhat changeable weather. This didn’t stop the happy couple or their well-wishers from enjoying the wedding or the reception at Leixlip’s Springfield Hotel. When I arrived at Sarah’s parents’ home, the atmosphere was relaxed and happy, with none of the last-minute panic typically associated with a wedding morning. We created a record of the outfit Sarah had chosen for her special day: a classic and simple wedding dress adorned with a vintage jeweled pin and ivory satin pumps with ribbon-rose details.

The wedding itself was celebrated in Ballyfermot, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. The interior of the church was the perfect photography backdrop for some memorable images.

Following the ceremony, we paid a visit to Castletown House, an amazing Palladian country house. The weather was on our side and we were able to take some wonderful photographs, with the period features of the house providing the perfect foil for a stylish young couple and their wedding party. The light was excellent, it was everything wedding photographers what, enabling me to capture the fetching colour scheme chosen for the attendants’ clothes: the bridesmaids’ pale turquoise dresses and the tan suits worn by the groomsmen.

At the reception, there was a wealth of interesting subjects: the imaginative floral arrangements and charming room decor from Candlelight Weddings were a joy to photograph. A pink and white theme was chosen for the flowers.

It was truly a day to remember and I was very happy to create a record of such a special time.

Wedding Day details are an important part of every wedding, with some couples sparing no expense. The right decor and subtle details can really transform the ambiance of a room, from mood lighting, the choice of chairs, to bird cages, candle holders and many other options they can all add to the special mood of the day.

Subtle little details like this allow the bride and groom to add their unique personalities to a venue and make it more there own. Some ideas follow.

An amusing wedding cake topper can bring a sense of the whimsical to a formal wedding. Cut glass candle holders add to the elegance of the day’s events. Little additions, such as small dogs or bits and bridles, allow the interests of the bride and groom to be acknowledged in a subtle manner without being overwhelming.

These details are limited only by the imaginations of the bride and groom. This is the time to really let their personalities shine and share their special gifts with all those in attendance. As a wedding photographer the little details and lighting help when capturing the mood of a wedding.
