I was torn between the two most well known: Wusthof and Henkels. I saw a lot of reviews regarding Henkels about them not lasting long or living up to expectations. According to Wusthof's website, all their knives have the same blades in them, in all their knife lines. Perhaps I misunderstood their descriptions, but this is the meaning I took away from their own website. That being said, the only difference between their cheaper and most expensive (Classic) lines is the handle. I purchased a set of the Classic line for cutting and chopping. They are definitely superior to these steak knives. However, since I am using the steak knives only for dining and not every day, these are more than adequate.

The blades are very sharp and cut easily through all meats. The only thing I can really say isn't perfect, are the handles. They could be better quality. I personally felt, for the amount of use I get from the knives, the handle quality vs. price is worth it. You can spend $100 on a set of Classic line steak knives that you use twice a week, but I think most people would be highly satisfied with this set.

As others have mentioned, nicer blades like these should be treated a little bit differently. Do not put these into dishwashers. They will bang around and become dull, quickly. The heat will also damage the handles. Hand wash and towel dry immediately after use. The steel will rust quickly, otherwise. These are great knives, and they need exceptional care to last.
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>
I have slowly been filling a knife block with Grand Prix II knives for my girlfriend, and it came time to get steak knives. We wanted a good quality knife, but when my girlfriend saw the price of the Grand Prix II steak knives, she said they were just too pricey. I came across these silverpoint knives and decided for the price, I'd give them a shot. If they're not that great, I didn't have a lot of money invested in them, so I ordered them.

We're not disappointed. They are extremely sharp and cut through steak like butter. The handles match the Grand Prix II handles, so they keep the look in the knife block. The only difference I've noticed so far is that they stain if you don't wash them right away, which hasn't been an issue with the Grand Prix II knives she has. I would recommend these knives for anyone who doesn't want to cough up the dough for the Grand Prix steak knives. Just make sure you wash them immediately after dinner.

Best Deals for Wusthof Silverpoint II 4-Piece Steak Knife Set

My wife has been using these knives for a couple of months now and she loves them! Not only are they light weight, but they are very sharp. She told me that we've been married 60 years and you finely bought me a set of knives that I can cut with.

Honest reviews on Wusthof Silverpoint II 4-Piece Steak Knife Set

I have wusthof knives that are more expensive. They have the more expensive handles. I purchased the Wusthof Silverpoint II knife set and steak knives for my daughter and one for my son. They work great. They both appreciate having a nice steak knife set. The old ones were dull and worthless. Great knives! Stay sharp a long time. Get the steak sharpner and they will be just like new after using this sharpner. Be careful not to cut yourself, using new sharp knives are a hazard after having dull knives. They cut right through food, veggies and you want to be careful to keep your fingers out of the way!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Wusthof Silverpoint II 4-Piece Steak Knife Set

I love these knives and use them every day. However the 8" pan is a little too small for the weight of the handle, so it easily tips over. Just be careful.

These pans are well built, heat up quickly, the non stick coating seems to last, no muss and no fuss with these pans. A real joy to cook with, everything slides off. They are a little pricey but well worth the price.

Once you cook with these babies, you'll never want to use anything else.

I have an Emeril Lagasse 10" non stick and less than a year the coating has already worn off and it takes forever to heat up. Easily the worst pan I've owned. Bam! Da Worst and expensive.

I own a 12" stainless steel multi copper core All Clad, it's pretty and shiney and everything but hate the ritual of having to heat the pan and heavily priming it with oil before cooking. If you don't, everything sticks to it. And the clean up is the worst.
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Best Basic Essentials 16pc Stainless Steel Cook and Prep Set Deals

<a href="
Customer Ratings:

This is a decent little set for the money. It pours well but doesn't whistle until it is really boiling hard. It seems to take awhile to heat up but that might just be that I have a flat electric cooktop and the kettle has slight ridges on the bottom.
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>
Not only do I love the vibrant color on this kettle, which the picture is right on, but the easy thumb switch that lifts the spout so you can pour is great. The handle gets hot while boling but not so hot that you can't pick it up. The lid is snug but not hard to open like my Le Creusset was. Overall, I am very happy with this well-made whistling kettle.

Best Deals for Creative Home Sphere 3-Quart Bronze Stainless Steel Tea Kettle

I assumed the inside of the kettle would be stainless steel. My last one had an enamel coating that scratched and wore off. This has a powdery coating who knows what it is. I'm going to get one that has a surface that I can be sure is safe.

The outside is attractive though and I'm sad to return it.

Honest reviews on Creative Home Sphere 3-Quart Bronze Stainless Steel Tea Kettle

I bought this kettle to replace an old one that had seen better days, and in this color because it perfectly matched a new backsplash tile accent I put up a year ago. The box shows the exact same color pictured here, but the real kettle color is more of a burnt orange/apricot than the copper in the pic indicates. It still matches well enough, but when you purchase a teal, purple or apricot colored kettles, I assume it's to match existing color schemes, hence the warning.

As far as the kettle itself goes, it's fairly well-made for the price point, has a comfortable handle that never gets hot, is easy to pour, and the wide, flat bottom makes water boil much faster than my old Copco kettle, which is a huge plus when I need my first cup of java in the morning. And this baby's whistle will wake the neighbors when it gets going, unlike another reviewer's comment about it not whistling till it really gets boiling. There's no such thing as blanket uniformity in manufactured goods anymore, no matter what country they're made in, but mine had no such issue. You'd think I lived adjacent to a train track when this kettle sings.

All in all, I'm pleased with this kettle, which will get used 3 to 4 times a day, so I hope I feel similiarly in a few years time. It's got a good look, it's well-balanced, the handle stays cool, so it's both appealing and utilitarian what more could you want?

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Creative Home Sphere 3-Quart Bronze Stainless Steel Tea Kettle

This was purchased as a replacement for a stainless designer model tea kettle that had outlived its useful life. The primary need was aesthetic and this unit filled the bill perfectly.

However, the time it took to receive this item was way too long, which prompted me to contact the seller to see what's the matter. As it turns out, the listing did warn about this eventuality, but I was hoping the listing was pessimistic, so as to ensure greater likelihood of an on-time delivery.

In the end, I am happy with this purchase and would recommend the seller (as long as it's not needed quickly).

Discount simplehuman Flip-Top Dishrack with Bamboo Knife Block,

Appears that the wire grids are thinly coated with plastic; once that flakes off (took about 45 days of use) then the metal is exposed and then its Rust City. Very surprised because we've owned several of this manufacturer's products over the years without problems. Their newer drainers have different wire covering material so perhaps the problem is now corrected assuming you get a newer model.
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>
The design is great, especially with the flip-up expandability. The dishes stand up perfectly in the rack, and we like the utensil holder. At first we didn't think too much of the knife-block cover, but it actually works very well to help the knives dry faster (and more safely). I would have given a five-star rating, except for the poor quality control. One of the hinges for the flip-up section was bent, hindering the movement of the shelf. A plastic cover had to be removed to bend it back into shape. The nice part of having to do this was that I got to test the quality of the welds. I've seen too many spot-welds break when adjacent pieces had to be bent, but the welds on this unit are very high quality. The other negative was that the wine glass hanger (which we don't use anyway) is unusable because poor alignment when the plastic holder was molded onto the stainless wire. Again, a very nice design, but manufacturing quality is pretty bad.

Best Deals for simplehuman Flip-Top Dishrack with Bamboo Knife Block, Stainless

We've had this dishrack for a little under 2 years and while it is the right design and size for our needs, the build quality of the plastic and rubber hole seals just isn't up to par.

The plastic area that holds the drain spout is now cracking and the rubber hole seals are now yellow and hard.

This is likely why they offer replacement drain boards for $20.

I definitely recommend spending your money elsewhere as this dish rack is not a good value when you consider cost and longevity of the product.

Honest reviews on simplehuman Flip-Top Dishrack with Bamboo Knife Block, Stainless

I got this recently, after moving to an apartment without a dishwasher. So far, I love it.

A few people here have asked why there are 3 hinges. This is why:

There is a drain on two sides of the plastic base. You can use one on the long side of the rack, as shown in the picture, or on the short side of the rack (next to the cutlery/knife holder). The bottom of the plastic base has legs on three corners (the hinges). These come folded up into the base. There is no leg in the corner between the two drains.

The legs on the bottom of the draining base are meant to tilt the base (and rack) so that it drains more easily. It's designed for only two to be used at one time: if you're using the drain on the long side, you fold out the two legs on the opposite long side. If you're using the drain on the short side, you fold out the two legs on the opposite short side. Either way, the whole thing is slightly tilted so that the side with the drain is lower and water will flow down to the sink instead of gathering on the base. That's why there's no leg on the corner in between the two drains: it's not about raising the whole rack, it's about tilting it.

By the way, this is one of the things that sold me on this rack. The plastic base for my last rack had a slight built-in tilt, but not enough for the water to drain well. I agree with somebody's comment about directions, though. It's funny to think of a dish rack needing them, but a picture could easily clarify the purpose of the legs. We bought this at a store that specialized in these sorts of things, so an employee told us about its various features.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for simplehuman Flip-Top Dishrack with Bamboo Knife Block, Stainless

Although the most expensive dish rack I have purchased, well worth the price. Had I purchased this 2 years ago, overall I would have saved money as I have thrown away so many inferior racks (mold and rust after very little time). Plenty of space available. The flip up shelf is great. A huge plus is the knife block. The ability to change the direction has opened up counter space. Because of the orientation we only use 2 of the cup "prongs". The only con is that it doesn't always drain without a little manipulation, but I think it has more to do with my counter not being level than the construction and design of the dish rack.

Highly recommended!!!

Cheap Le Creuset Stoneware Tea Cup for 1, Marseille

Customer Ratings:
List Price: $50.00
Sale Price: $34.95
Today's Bonus: 30% Off

I absolutely love my new tea cup for 1. I grew up with teflon, tried out the "titanium waterless cookware" (which was super expensive) and everything burned. I went back to teflon, but my last set was getting all scratched up and needed replacing so I was looking into other options. I had heard through my best friend who is a nutritionist that cast iron is the healthiest and best, but was intimidated by the maintenance. Long story short, after researching everything I decided for the price it was worth trying (half the cost of a Rachael Ray or Paula Deen teflon set). I'm so glad I did! This really is super easy to maintain, I just wipe with a towel after every use and grease slightly with crisco to restore the sheen and they look brand new! I didn't even have to wash or retreat, as they were non stick right out of the box. I liked that they cook evenly and the only other real "adjustment" I had to make to my cooking style is remembering to wear an oven mit when handling. I'm super pleased with this set and highly recommend it!
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>
I took other people's advice and seasoned it before I used it and it works wonderfully. I love how well it cooks my food and it is worth the extra TLC of seasoning it after I use it.

Best Deals for Lodge 5-Piece Cast Iron Cookware Set, Black

I rarely write reviews even though I buy so much stuff on amazon. This cast iron cook set is absolutely awesome. It is such a good value for the money (don't even talk to me about the $1400 All Clad set I just bought). I bought this for camping but have used it for regular cooking and it works so well. I researched seasoning the iron and decided that I would season with a thin coat of flax seed oil at 500 degrees for an hour. I did this 2 nights in a row and then cooked with them (turn your oven exhaust fan on when seasoning or your smoke detectors will blast awaydont ask me how I know this). One site said do 6 thin coats over 6 days which I may do eventually. Even after 2 thin coats, there was no sticking to chicken curry in the frying pan, and baked banana bread in the dutch oven. I coated a paper towel with oil and left it in the bottom (youtube dutch oven camping trick) and the bread just slid out when turned upside down. The part that did touch the side just wiped off with a paper towel. No washing, no soaking, no scouring needed. The key is keep the iron dry, don't soak it, keep it well oiled after use (I put a little flax seed oil on after each use). Iron is so much healthier than teflon. It's so much cheaper than aluminum/copper/steel. I want to send the All Clad back now..

Honest reviews on Lodge 5-Piece Cast Iron Cookware Set, Black

Received well before the scheduled delivery (rcvd 9/5-scheduled del 9/13). I am extremely pleased that these are still made in the USA and the only cast iron still made in the USA. Makes me feel kinda proud that I am supporting a US business.

I have become so disappointed in the pots and pans they are manufacturing lately. I purchased a brand-new set of t-fal a year ago, and already, the finish is flaking off. The "green" pans are a total lie. Enamel ware eventually chip. Both my mother and grandmother used cast iron and never, ever had any problems with them so, I figured, why not go back to the last thing I knew was the best? Besides, fried chicken always tasted the best when fried in a cast iron frying pan!

These came ready to use right out of the box, but still, I rinsed them, dried them, and put a coating of Crisco Shortening on them. Yes, shortening or lard...that's the way it used to be done and still should be done. So far, I've used the frying pan for, you guessed it, fried chicken and I couldn't be happier with the results! You just have to remember to use a lower heat because the heat travels better in cast iron. Also, the handles do get hot so you just can't grab onto them to move the pan. I tinkered with the idea of getting the handle covers, but the reviews are so mixed that I'll just continue to use the pot holders...just like grandma and mom. At least I know they work properly. There are some other pieces that I may purchase, but this is the major pieces needed and I'm so glad they came in a set.

Thank you Lodge and thank you Amazon for carrying this set.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Lodge 5-Piece Cast Iron Cookware Set, Black

This set is currently listed for $107. I just put all these items in my cart individually and it totals $68.32. I love my lodge cast iron, but for the life of me I can't figure out why the set costs more than the pieces purchased individually. If you're interested in this set (and it's a great combo) do the math first to find out which way is cheapest.

Also, season your pans a few times before using them. I rub on a thin coat of coconut oil, put them in a 350 degree oven for an hour, then let cool. A few times of this and they are amazing to use.

UPDATE: Instead of using coconut oil, I now use avocado oil. Both are healthy oils, but the avocado oil has a higher smoking point. Above that temperature the oil could possibly turn carcinogenic so I go with the oil with the higher smoking point. Instead of boring, bland muffins, the Nordicware Sweetheart Rose pan makes 12 1/2 cup roses in intricate detail, including rosebuds and leaves. I use Baker's Joy to grease the pan before baking, and add a light dusting of confectioner's sugar to the finished muffins / cakes so as not to cover up the details. Cleaning is a snap: normally, there is no batter left in the pans, ever with all the nooks and crannies. The pan is also a good solid weight, something sorely missing in all those "made in China" knock-offs (Nordicware is still made in the USA). This is an easy, beautiful presentation for teacakes, muffins, and cupcakes that look like you bought them at a bakery.
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>
I own the same brand in heart-shaped form, and I've been very pleased with the product. The muffins always turn out so well and unsticking them from the pan is effortless (which is more than I can say about several other brand tins out there). After baking with this pan I realize how nice it is not to be concerned with effectively removing the baked good and knowing that the product will look beautiful is also great.

The only downsides are the cost, heaviness, and the fact they're not very space-efficient-only two of these can fit in a conventional oven and one better use both hands to remove the pan. Though $30 is a lot of money for something that bakes so few goods, it is well worth it based on its reliability and durability. As a person who baked 3 times a week, I got my money's worth.

Best Deals for Nordic Ware Cast-Aluminum Nonstick Muffin Pan, Sweetheart Rose

Heavy pan that bakes evenly. The cupcakes I made looked beautiful. It was also a good value for a pan of this high quality.

Honest reviews on Nordic Ware Cast-Aluminum Nonstick Muffin Pan, Sweetheart Rose

This pan turns out gorgeous muffins. Life is short, why not inject a little beauty whenever possible? I own a number of the Nordic Ware brand bundt pans, and this is one of my favorites. The pan may seem a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. I have replaced so many thin muffin pans over the years I have lost count. With a little care, like not using metal utensils or scouring pads on the pan, it should last a lifetime -and it creates a distinctive looking muffin. These are great for bake sales, holiday gifts and look wonderful on any party buffet table. I, as other reviewers, use Baker's Joy (a cooking spray that includes flour -plain cooking sprays do not accomplish the same result.) I liberally spray and then turn the pan upside down and let it drain on paper towels while I am preparing the batter. Since light colored muffins show up more of the detail one of my favorite recipes for the pan is blueberry muffins. Just be sure you use small pieces of blueberry (dried blueberries work well) but even plain muffins with mini chocolate chips (they don't sink to the bottom like full size chips), finely chopped nuts (again, so they don't sink to the bottom) or poppy seeds are wonderful additions.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Nordic Ware Cast-Aluminum Nonstick Muffin Pan, Sweetheart Rose

I bought this pan to make mini rose-shaped pound cakes for a baby shower. It's a great buy! The cakes came out beautifully and this pan costs a fraction of what it sells for in the gourmet kitchen stores. Make sure you use "Baker's Joy" spray so that the cakes/muffins will not stick.

Review of B2B Food Strainer & Sauce Maker

<a href="
Customer Ratings:

just used the "back to basics 220 strainer" and the results were wonderful

the machine is well built, and the instructions were made designed the way you could follow them easily. most products i buy, the instructions do not have empathy for the user who must assemble and use the product.

it worked great on the tomatoes. the seeds, peels and core came out the "discard end" and the pure "pulp juice" came out the front. i processed 200 tomatoes without a problem. bang for the buck, you can't beat the production this machine will give you the tomato season
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>
This model was recommended by a family member who has had theirs for years. It is a solid machine that will definitely last. Processing food is extremely quick--just as an example, a gallon of cooked apples can be turned into applesauce in less than five minutes.

One thing to consider is where you will store this machine. Because of the awkward size and shape, the only option is to clean it and put it back in its box, which probably takes up a cubic foot of space.

Best Deals for B2B Food Strainer & Sauce Maker

We have used this product for both canning tomatoes and applesauce and are extremely pleased with how quickly we get results. No more peeling mess. My 8 yr. old grandson loves to turn the crank. The machine does an excellent job on applesauce, tomato sauce, salsa (I love to roast the tomatoes, garlic, onions, and hatch chilis for an incredibly delicious salsa). This is great for anyone interested in making simple delicious food, purees, pumpkin, canning, jelly, etc. I have a foley food mill but find this so much easier to crank and use.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for B2B Food Strainer & Sauce Maker

My first Back to Basics Food Strainer arrived damaged. The product box was sorely lacking in padding material and the metal handle had shattered the white plastic squirt guard. This was an issue with the product packaging and not Amazon's packaging. Amazon immediately sent a replacement and the replacement was in perfect shape (despite the lousy packaging material again).

The strainer works like a charm. My tomato harvest is at 140 pounds now and still going strong, so the strainer has been getting a lot of use. It definitely has been saving me tons of time.

My only concern is with the durability of the product. I don't like all of the plastic parts, particularly the thin and seemingly brittle clear plastic spout, which has to be SNAPPED onto the screen. Let me guess which will be the first part to go! Also, the shaft is not stainless steel and tends to get rust spots if not fastidiously dried.

When I searched for tomato strainers it seemed like they all had the same issues (cheap plastic parts) so this model is really no better or worse than the others. Just wish SOMEONE would build these things for durability.

IMUSA GAU-80300 Electric Arepa Maker Nonstick Surface, White Review

Customer Ratings:
List Price: $49.99
Sale Price: $35.79
Today's Bonus: 28% Off

While this product is well made, I did not feel the pre-set cooking time was sufficient to produce a properly cooked arepa. It wasn't broken, per se, but I was always a little worried about fires when I plugged it in. ;) This Imusa one is great! It makes the arepas much thinner than that Oster one which we like. Less "doughy." The light on the front that tells you when they're done is really convenient, too. I recommend it!

Cheap Reco White Baked Bean Pot

<a href="
Customer Ratings:

The pot arrived right away and was put to use immediately. The shape is usual and it's nice to have a white pot. The drawback is the "handles" and knob on the lid. They are MUCH too small to be useful when picking up the pot using pot holders or mitts. To take it out of the over you must get a good grip on the body of the pot NOT the handles. If you try the handles using mitts your hands will simply slip off. The dish is deep enough to accommodate veggies and meat, and the conical lid can be lifted from the top without any mitten. The hole on the cone allows the steam to get out but still keeps the moisture inside. What I love about this tagine is that it retains the heat long after I removed it from the stovetop.

The tagine arrived very fast and very well packed, but it did not contain any care instruction. Not a problem. A quick Google showed me that I needed to season it first. I submerged the tagine overnight in the biggest bucket I could find. The next morning, I rubbed the entire tagine (inside and out) with the olive oil before putting it in the cold oven. I turned on the oven to 300 degree for 2 hours. I let it cool down in the oven, then wash and dry. Now it's ready for cooking! I use my tagine with a heat diffuser (costs only few dollars) in a medium to low heat setting. The food is ready in two hours, from my stovetop to the dinner table -very simple and delicious. Highly recommended!

PS this tagine is considered "extra large." The company also offers "Large" size tagine for $10 less. If you are considering buying tagine, this one is a much better deal because the dish is deeper so that liquid won't seep out. (The other dish is more shallow.) Cleanup is a breeze! Make sure it's completely dried before storing away.
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>
With a little prep work and research on the internet, we were able to make sure that our tagine was set to go. Be sure to follow some online instructions before you use it. It requires some soaking in water, covering in oil and heating (my girlfriend did most of the prep work). After three dishes made so far, it works like a charm and we've had no problems with it so far.

Best Deals for Moroccan Large Tagine Free Shipping By Treasures of Morocco

I cannot begin to express how disappointing this tagine has been. I ordered this as a gift for my husband. He has traveled the world and is always excited by any opportunity to try new foods. When the box arrived, I was impressed with the care they took in shipping. When my husband opened the box we were both impressed with how lovely the tagine was. It was very handmade looking and rustic (we appreciated this a lot). There were no instructions provided, however my husband is a planner by nature and obsessively researches everything. We spent time researching dishes and spices and how to season and prep our tagine carefully. The vendors own instructions on Amazon clearly state that it is for cooking ON or IN the stove. It also says that no diffuser is needed when cooking with electric or glass stovetops. Our oven has a glass top but we even went the extra mile and contacted the maker of our stove to find out the actual temperatures that line up with the number indicators on our burners. We were told that 5 is around 295 degrees. We decided on a Moroccan Chicken dish and cooked it slowly for 1.5 hours on 3 and 4. We turned down the tagine to the lowest setting for approx. 15 minutes before serving. When my husband removed the lid we saw a huge deep crack that went completely through the base. It was only after washing it that we saw the extent of the crack. It ran from the center to the rim of the base and even went around the base halfway.

We emailed the vender for a return. Their response was to ask what temp we cooked on and if the crack was leaking. We supplied the information and they responded by telling us that it is recommended to only use the tagine in the oven as it is not in direct contact with heat. I was flabbergasted! Why would you recommend this and not inform potential buyers of this information on the items page? They also stated that UPS will not pick up the package unless the original packaging was included. Of course we threw away the (plain) brown shipping box and bubble wrap along with all the other present packaging the day after Christmas. They then stated that they do not accept returns for used items (cooking once with great care is used?). They have offered to replace the base. We feel that isn't good enough. I wanted a tagine that we could cook on our stove and oven with and have flexibility. There are certainly tagines out there that can do all of that. We wanted something authentic and a fun cooking experience and instead we have ending up with a huge headache. I would certainly not recommend this tagine to anyone in good conscience!

Honest reviews on Moroccan Large Tagine Free Shipping By Treasures of Morocco

A fine and beautiful pot. (Photo is accurate.) Very useful size. Arrived packed with exceeding care (large box & very thick layer of bubble wrap) and in perfect condition. Cooks a mean tagine!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Moroccan Large Tagine Free Shipping By Treasures of Morocco

I love this Tagine. We followed the marinating instructions and used a big tupperware storage container to soak the tagine in. We did have to open the hole on the top a little more since the glaze covered it. Every dish we cooked in the tagine has been fabulous. Since a lot of liquid is produced during cooking, I always leave out the addition of liquid if it calls for it in the recipe. I love combining my ingredients with William Sonoma's tagine spice or jars of tagine sauce. Only negative is that even though this is extra large, you can only cook for about four adults with this Tagine.

Discount Lodge 2HHC2 Hot Handle Holders/Mitts, Red Pepper, Set of 2

<a href="
Customer Ratings:

These are perfect for all lodge skillets and I also use them on the older pieces of Calphalon that get hot handles. These are so much handier than having to pick up a pot holder repeatedly, you can just slip them on and leave them right through to clean up.
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>
This product works pretty well, fitting onto the handle well. The issues with it have been mentioned in other reviews: It's somewhat on the thin side, and can get hot if you leave it on the handle while cooking. Taking it off and back on everytime you manipulate your iron skillet can be annoying, especially if you forget and burn yourself however, the learning curve is rather short, especially after you burn yourself. And since the skillets are guaranteed to hold an even temperature throughout the whole skillet, you are assured of a nice, even burn to your entire palm.

I would pay a couple of bucks more for the Lodge Max Temp Handle Mitt it's thicker (so you feel less of the metal handle, giving you a psychological edge in being able to grip it firmly), stays cool longer, and although it's not in festive colors and pattern, it's utility-driven.

Best Deals for Lodge 2HHC2 Hot Handle Holders/Mitts, Red Pepper, Set of 2

The first thing you need to realize is that when cooking with cast iron, the entire piece gets HOT. It is an even heating surface, and yes, that even includes the handles. That's why Lodge made the Hot Handle Holder Set, and they really hit the nail on the head with this one. The holders fit perfectly on the handles of the pans that they make. They slide on easily and can remain there while you're cooking the item, if it is not near an open flame of course. They protect your hands from heat, even when holding the pan for extended periods of time like while you're cleaning it after cooking. It also makes the handle more comfortable, and provides a pretty good grip. The red peppers are my favorite, but I also have a set of the green salsa holders and they're nice too. Lodge is a company that is known for their quality, and this product is no exception.

Honest reviews on Lodge 2HHC2 Hot Handle Holders/Mitts, Red Pepper, Set of 2

May shield heat a touch better than a kitchen glove. They are OK if you are going to use them on the cast iron handles for a few seconds at a time. Anything longer than that and they will get hot and so will your hands. So, unlike what a previous reviewer said, you cannot leave them on while the pot is on the stove, unless you are not cooking long enough for the handles to get hot (and in that case why even buy them), or if you want to get burned. The choice is yours. Hope this helps.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Lodge 2HHC2 Hot Handle Holders/Mitts, Red Pepper, Set of 2

These handle covers are very handy and work well. I bought them with a Lodge cast iron skillet. Glad I got them since I know it would just have been a matter of time before I had burned my hand since I usually use more modern skillets. I am sure I would have forgotten to pick up a pot holder or an oven mit at some point before grabbing the iron handle. I have a gas stove top so the other thing I like about these sturdy handle covers is I don't worry about cloth hanging down from the handle to catch fire.

Buy All Clad 421349 Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Bonded Dishwasher Safe

Customer Ratings:
List Price: $190.00
Sale Price: $149.99
Today's Bonus: 21% Off

The usable dimensions of this pot are actually 3.5" deep by 8.25" across, much smaller than listed in the description or the "Product Dimensions" sections.
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>
This is basically the same pan as the 3-quart saucier, for less money and with more convenient handles. I hand washed it using a sponge.

Discount Kingsford KNS77 Skillet

<a href="
Customer Ratings:

The Kingsford skillet works great on our outdoor grill. Non-stick surface provides easy cooking and cleaning.

Honest reviews on Kingsford KNS77 Skillet

I don't pamper my cheap gas grill or the very few accessories I have for it. They survive or they don't and when they don't, they get replaced. I came to this point of view after several rehabs of a cheap gas grill over several years (new grilling surfaces, new burners, new grease drain cups and hangers, power washing the flaking enamel off the inside of the lid, using a wire brush to scrape this and that, etc. etc., over and over and over). I was determined to get my money's worth out of that thing! Then when it was time to do it all yet again, I started adding up the money and realized that it was cheaper to junk the old grill and just get a new one. About the time I came to this realization, the big box home stores started offering free grill assembly (or even better, pre-assembled grills in stock that you can just pick up and take home). Haven't looked back since.

That's a long way of getting around to saying that if you're expecting this very inexpensive skillet to last for decades, your expectations may be, er, unrealistic. If I get two years out of this guy I'll be ecstatic. If I get one year out of it I'll be more than satisfied. This is a great product to have for any number of food items that you might want to grill and I would never be without one, just don't imagine that you're buying something intended to last more than a season or two or maybe three at the outside. It's not. Relax and enjoy!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Kingsford KNS77 Skillet

The handle is unstable. As long as you're careful with the non-stick coating, these pots should work for a lifetime.

Purchased this model specifically for the pouring notches. With the cut-outs on the lid, this design works perfectly. And the cut-outs are centered with the direction of the handle, so you always know where they are, you can keep them closed to keep the inside sealed for heating, or turn them 90 degrees to vent/pour.

Highly recommended.
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>
This is my 7th Calphalon purchase and I'm hooked. Their pans are incredible, well made and easy to clean. This pan is thick, keeping a very uniform temperature and cooking everything just right. It's really nonstick, allowing me to decrease the amount of oil in my recipes, which is healthier. I love that it has the pour and strain feature, so l can use it for a lot of things: pasta, broths and sauces. It's very practical.

Best Deals for Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 3.5-qt. Pour and Strain Sauce Pan

The pour spouts and straining holes in the lid are fantastic! No more trying to strain my noodles and hoping I don't move the lid too far and lose them down the drain! I would defniitely recomment this pan. The only small drawback is that it is kind of heavy, like most of Calphalon's pans.

Honest reviews on Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 3.5-qt. Pour and Strain Sauce Pan

Bought this piece for my wife to use on our gas range. Our old stainless cookware had handles that would get so hot you couldn't pick them up without a pot holder. These handles stay much cooler. The nonstick coating is great, and the strainer built into the lid is great for boiling vegetables, pasta, etc.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 3.5-qt. Pour and Strain Sauce Pan

I was looking for a larger sauce pan than came with my Calphalon set. This sauce pan is perfect for cooking pasta or large quantities of vegetables. It is definitely not one that I use every day, but one that comes in handy. This is the same great quality as the pots I bought for a lot more money.

Cheap Alessi 9093 B Replacement Bird Shaped Whistle Black

<a href="
Customer Ratings:

I had a Le Crueset whistling kettle with a broken stopper. I looked all over for a replacement but couldn't find one. This item looked similar in size, but I couldn't find dimensions posted anywhere. It's slightly smaller than my original, but fits well enough to whistle. In case you have the same problem with a slightly different kettle, here are the relevant dimensions. It is 3/4" in diameter and sinks 15/16" into the kettle. The widest point of the stopper (not counting the bird) is slightly larger than 7/8" in diameter.
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>
I bought this for my white Le Creuset kettle and it works! The fit is functional, though less than perfectly snug--if I could find a little rubber washer of the correct size then it would be perfect. I worry a little that the little metal friction wires it uses to keep it secured in will damage the spout insides after a while, I'm planning on bending them so they're a little less taught and easier to go in and out.

Amazingly, you can remove the whistler with your hands without getting burned, as long as you catch it soon after it starts whistling and you turn off the gas or remove it from heat first so that the steam isn't coming out! The wings and tail make a perfect grip, and it hasn't been hot yet--just don't put your hands in a stream of hot steam! Also, the whistle can be balanced upside down on the wings and tail while you pour your tea, if you have a flat surface. (You probably don't care, but I don't want the 'inside' part to touch my stove.)

If this were a whistle for Le Creuset, I'd give it 4 stars, but it gets 5 since it's beautiful, functional, and so well made that it works well even for the wrong kettle!

Best Deals for Alessi 9093 B Replacement Bird Shaped Whistle Black

I had initially written a not-too-happy review here; I ordered the whistle to replace a melted/useless one for a Le Creuset kettle, and another review suggested it would fit. That first whistle that arrived did fit -but didn't whistle! When I went to return it, the vendor immediately instead sent out a replacement, free of charge. The replacement *does* whistle. It's not an incredible, shrill whistle that will beckon me from the other side of the house, unfortunately, but it works. And I was very pleased with the service -communication was fast and friendly, and the remedy was immediate. If the replacement had still not worked, I've got no doubt they'd have courteously accepted the return.

Honest reviews on Alessi 9093 B Replacement Bird Shaped Whistle Black

The black bird looks so great on the kettle but the replacement is hard to attach in the spout. I have to maneuver the metal side prongs to put it into the spout. The most disappointing is that the bird does not whistle. It only steams. I am now considering a different kettle.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Alessi 9093 B Replacement Bird Shaped Whistle Black

Just what I was looking for to revitalize an old teapot I had found at an estate sale....was just as described. I have been cooking professionally for 19 years now as a certified licensed working chef. I teach culinary school and the most asked questions I get are about knives and which ones to buy. Through out most of my career I've used Messermeister knives which were great and held up for many years, but like most German knives, they don't hold their edge. The first time I held a Shun knife was at a supply store. Once I held it in my hand I had to have it. I highly encourage my students and my colleagues to give Shun knives a try for I assure them that they won't be disappointed.
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>
This knife is fantastic. It's not only beautiful but cuts like no other. I'm a huge Global knife fan but thought I would try the Shun just for comparison. It completely met and exceeded my expectations. It's very well balanced and fit nicely in my hand. I highly recommend this knife for anyone looking for a smaller utility knife with some style.

Best Deals for Shun Premier Utility Knife, 6-1/2-Inch

BOTTOM LINE

Shun Premier Knives are made with the same technique as traditional samurai swords. After months of moderate use on the toughest items, my Shun Premier knives haven't dulled, chipped, scratched, or otherwise marred their initial perfect finish. I know what I want daily in the kitchen and by my side in the Zombie apocalypse. However, consider looking for a better price elsewhere.

SHARPNESS AND STRENGTH

I have used other Shun Premier knives for cutting through the toughest things, like pineapple. The outside of a pineapple is as hard as wood, and my Santoku cuts through it with only gentle application of force no sawing required. After months of use on only the tough stuff (I use different knives for pairing, poultry etc), this knife still hasn't dulled noticeably. Notice, this knife is a little small for use on pineapple, but I mention the pineapple as an example of how sharp Shun knives are generally.

BEAUTY

This knife is a thing of beauty it has a beautiful wooden finish on the handle, and the knife has this pretty blotted ink look, referred to in the description as Damascus. I love to show off my $160 knife to all of my friends.

SHARPENING

Shun allows you to sharpen their knives easily by sending it into a discounted, professional service center for professional sharpening and restoration. The price is cheap (25% off of $3 per inch of sharpening). Just google "Shun Sharpening."

I won't risk sharpening my knife at home because I don't know how to properly use a whetstone. I have a Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Sharp Duo Knife Sharpener for use on my cheaper knives, but the instructions on the Shun recommend you don't use that kind of sharpener, since this knife is sharpened to a different degree than European knives.

PRICE

Surprisingly, the price on Amazon is not the best price I've seen for the blade. You may want to check your local high-end home-goods or kitchen-goods store like Crate and Barrel. Still, I would consider ordering from Amazon, simply because shipping to my door is so convenient.

ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE

I'm so impressed with my Shun Premier Line's ability to cut through poultry, ligaments and all, that I'm already planning on how to adapt my knife for the zombie apocalypse. Considering these things are made like samurai swords, I'm confident I'll be more well-equipped than my regular knife wielding buddies when we're out of bullets and the zombies are inevitably bearing down upon us.

Honest reviews on Shun Premier Utility Knife, 6-1/2-Inch

The sharpest blade I've use. "Slides thru potatoes and slices onions with ease." Holds it's edge. Lightweight. Recently bought the paring knife.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Shun Premier Utility Knife, 6-1/2-Inch

This knife is my new best friend. After decades of cooking can dicing vegetables suddenly become fun? With this knife--YES, it cut through carrots and parsnips like butter. The short, round, small diameter handle fits my hand like no other knife I have ever used. I have now ordered the 81/2" chefs knife. I have both a Wusthof and Henckles slicing knife which are both pretty much useless so they will soon be getting the axe.

J.A. They have yet to need sharpening, and the semi-matte sheen of the handles is in pristine condition.

Two points to remember: Don't try to cut metal items with them, it will ruin their cutting edge, and dishwasher use is not recommended.

The blades are great for everything from plant stems to raw fish and chicken, and the tips of the blades are very sharp and will get into tight places. For instance, it's the perfect instrument for preparing artichokes, from neatly cutting the thorny tips, to getting inside to the fuzzy center.

Being left-handed, I appreciate its balance, and ambidexterousness, and I think no matter what your hand size, your fingers will fit comfortably.

A function I use a lot is the serrated inner grip for opening bottles and small jars...it does the job better than anything else I've used.

For garden, kitchen, or workplace, they will cut just about anything non-metallic, they're easy to clean, attractive to look at, and will serve you well for many years if used as intended.
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>
I use these at least once a day. One of the more useful qualities of the scissors is that you can easily take them apart for a thorough cleaning and then reassemble them.

They've stood up well to two years of cutting apart chickens, trimming flowers, slicing boxes and all around opening of food packaging.

On top of that, I took them in for sharpening with our other househpold scissors and was told that the edge was fine on them and they didn't really need to be worked on.

Another fine quality product from Henckels.

Best Deals for J.A. Henckels Twinshear Kitchen Shears

I have had these shears for over 10 years they have withstood everything. I put them in the dishwasher regularly without any problems. They are as sharp as the day I bought them. I have had other less expensive shears and scissors during the same time they just don't stand up to the use/abuse that these do.

Honest reviews on J.A. Henckels Twinshear Kitchen Shears

We have a complete Henckels Four Star knife set put together over time. There is not a better kitchen tool set available at any price.

The Kitchen Shears were the last item we added. They compliment the knives perfectly and work just as well. Feel solid and secure in your hand and can cut everything from coupons in the Sunday paper to heavy string or plastic. Hold their edge very well.

An excellent kitchen tool.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for J.A. Henckels Twinshear Kitchen Shears

These little things from off the rack at Target can't be beat. I was all set to buy a set of forged, high end shears for triple the price. Glad I bought these on a lark. Never fail, always strong, cant be beat. Handles are confortable, and I don't worry about pinching any skin when I use them.

Reviews of Le Creuset Heritage Stoneware 4 1/2qt Covered Bean Pot, Flame

<a href="
Customer Ratings:

WOW!! I received this as a present and I could not be happier with it. I made baked beans today that even my husband, the bean-o-phobe, loves. This pot cooks the beans evenly, so they're creamy and delicious while still firm. I was also exceptionally pleased with Amazon's customer service on this. The first pot arrived chipped and cracked as the result of poor packaging. Two days later I had a new one that was packed properly and delivered intact. Thank you, Amazon!
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Homichef 15.75 Inch Round Stainless Fry Pan Review

Customer Ratings:
List Price: $100.00
Sale Price: $82.09
Today's Bonus: 18% Off

Great pan for those big crowds. Anyway, it is as billed. A heavy cast iron enamelled dutch oven that you can stick in the oven. Too obvious? For a non-cook like me, the whole braising concept was only an emerging idea. But it works. Things turn out so good, and it has nothing to do with my skill level. Every meal should basically start with tossing bacon, a bottle of wine, and some meat into a big pot and coming back four hours later. You can't go wrong. And... I'm going there. It's pretty. It's red and shiny and I like it the way I liked matchbox cars when I was a kid. I don't even put it in the cabinet. It sits on top of a shelf in full view. So go ahead, spend too much money on a pot. You'll justify it with occasionally cooking pasta sauce in it, and say, "See! It was worth it! We use it all the time!" It's not just for braising!
Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>
Not impressed with the enamel-coated finish; appears to be refurbished or factory-second. Not what I had expected from top of line cookware. Maybe the cocotte I received was a lemon, as most reviewers have high admiration for the fit and finish of Staub.

Final purchase price at Amazon was less than $100 with shipping included. While the pits and surface imperfections in the exterior enamel finish may not affect the cooking process, this could lead to more serious issues later in the form of rust or bacteria. So far, the only issues are superficial or cosmetic, but I have requested a replacement in hopes of getting an unblemish cocotte I can proudly display.

PS The added bonus; a Staub silicon kitchen spoon and magnetic trivet was a welcome addition at no additional charge, however the value of $45.00 placed on the two items were so extreme honestly I would have preferred them lower the price of the pot then give away gimmicks to make you think you are getting a good deal and to top it off the Trivet you would think would be round like the pot to place the pot on instead it is oval and too small to do a lot with, if the items weren't free you can bet I would have never bought them at that price especially for something that isn't the same dimensions as the pot I am buying obviously I would have bought a round one common sense!
