“Else how can a man enter into a strong man’s house and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man, and then spoil his house.” (Matthew 12:29)

Now what is Christ speaking of here in Matthew chapter 12, verse 29? What did He mean talking about this binding of the strong man, and the spoiling of his house?

Well, the doctors of the church today claim that the Bible isn’t clear on whether or not Christ descended into Hell. The doctors of the church today claim that the Bible isn’t clear as to what Jesus did in Hell if He did therein descend. But I say to you, the Bible does specifically speak to the work of Christ in Hell!

Indeed, in the early church the teaching was plain. The binding of the strongman was understood to mean that Christ, as He descended into Hell, did, as the great and mighty warrior of God, bind Satan in chains.

Then the spoiling of his house was understood to mean the work of Christ breaking down the gates of Hell, and setting the captives free, even calling them forth by His own words of the Gospel of the Kingdom!

For proof, hear Eusebius of Caesarea from early 300 AD: “Christ, caring for the salvation of all, and bursting the eternal gates, opened a way of return to life for the dead bound in chains of death.”

Or the words of Saint Athanasius again from early 300 AD: “While the devil thought to kill one, he is deprived of all cast out of Hell, and sitting by the gates, sees all the fettered beings led forth by the courage of the Savior.”

Or the words of Theodoret from around 430 AD: “To the devil Christ declares … I mean to open the prison of death for the rest, but will shut up thee only. Thou wast justly despoiled of all thy subjects.”

Or the words of Cyril of Alexandria in around 412 AD: “Traversing the lowest recesses of the infernal regions, after that He had preached to the spirits there, He led forth the captives in His strength. For when death devoured Him who was the Lamb on behalf of all, it vomited forth all men in Him and with Him. Now when sin has been destroyed, how should it be but that death, too, should wholly perish?”

There are countless additional proofs of the early church teaching that it was Christ who entered into the domain of the strongman (that is descended into Hell to do battle with Satan) and then spoiled his house (that is broke down the gates of Hell and set the captives free!).

So what is our take-away here? A very powerful one. For understanding that this Jesus has passed through the flesh in order to bind the strongman, break down the gates of Hell and set the captives free, we can go forward in true power and victory. For Christ has stripped Satan of all his power. Satan has lost his rule over this earth. Men no longer are in his employ. All the nations of the earth now pay tribute to its new Master, Jesus Christ. This is one of the most freeing doctrines of the faith!

We leave you with one further quote regarding Christ’s triumph over Satan, this one from St. Chrysostom in the late 300’s AD—listen closely to the power this simple truth had for believers in the early church:

Christ, he asserts, not merely opened, but broke in pieces the gates of brass, in order to make the prison useless; where there is neither door, nor bar, whosoever enters is not detained. What God destroys, who can set up again? Earthly kings indeed set free prisoners, yet leave untouched the prison gates; but Christ broke in pieces the gates of brass. Christ went to the utterly black and joyless portion of Hell, and turned it into heaven, transferring all its wealth, the race of man, into His royal treasury. In this, too, Christ surpasses kings, for they send messengers, but He went in person to set the captives free. So again, he says: ‘Our Lord, when He was in Hell, set free all who were kept prisoners by death.’

Today do not let anyone lead you again into bondage to Satan. Christ has already defeated him. Embrace your glorious estate in Christ!

How does your view of the Great Commission determine your systematic theology?

Or is the question: How does your systematic theology affect your view of the Great Commission?

I guess the important part is this: What is your understanding of the Great Commission?

In today’s church, a church enveloped in the most desperate crisis in history—a church where over 80% of its children choose to leave once they hit the college years—in today’s church the basis of most all its activities is the effort to fulfill the Great Commission. Their systematic theology has taught them that this is their role in life.

The problem is that this is not a view shared with them by the early church! Nor is it a view shared with them by the earliest Protestant reformers!

In other words, today’s church is living a life not sanctioned by its past! The systematic theology that formed the basis of almost 2000 years of church history never made fulfilling the Great Commission the role of the church!

In fact, any historical review of the church shows that the systematic theology underlying the foundational beliefs of the historic church taught that the Great Commission was fulfilled by the Apostles in their own lifetime! In their own generation!

So this invention by the modern church to make fulfilling the Great Commission the focus of its reason for existence is a pure invention of its own unfounded systematic theology. History does not support its present path.

So your decision today revolves around this question: How is this recent invention in the church affecting my faith, and what am I missing in losing the historic faith of my fathers?

In truth, you’re missing quite a bit!

For in the historic faith of Christianity, rather than teaching how much of a “sinner” you were, the church taught and focused on how perfectly you had become a “saint.”

What is Fulfilled Theology?

First off, the modern church has long ago left Fulfilled Theology, now teaching a futuristic sin/guilt based theology. A change that is a direct harm to you and yours.

In reality, Fulfilled Theology is the original theology of Jesus Christ and His Apostles. It is therefore the ONLY theology that will not only save you in the next life, but also make you a priest and king living here in this life in the earthly realm!

Now who among us has defined this Fulfilled Theology? The Early Church!

So this is the basis of our teaching. The original teaching of Jesus Christ and His Apostles, as recorded in the Bible, and evidenced by the writings of the Early Church Fathers.

What are the basics of Fulfilled Theology? What is the main differentiating point of Fulfilled Theology? This—it posits all doctrine on the teaching that Christ has already fulfilled His role for both salvation and redemption. He has already freed us from all sin and made us saints. He has already removed sin from us and lifted the curse over creation.

As we said earlier, these are all things that the modern church lost long ago, having replaced them with a sin/guilt based theology. In fact, the truth be told, the Early Church Fathers would all be cast out of today’s churches as heretics!

So our goal is to submit to you this day that you learn more of Fulfilled Theology, and see if you might not be happier in the original faith of our Lord and God Jesus Christ; if you might not be happier living as a saint as opposed to a sinner.

Here is an article you might find interesting—at least in the sense of how amazing it is that non-believers will go to such lengths to avoid the truth of God.

Here we have an intelligent man—at least by the world’s measure—talking fantasy in a “scientific” forum. And what’s worse, others that take him seriously!

Well, anyway, here it is… enjoy! And remember—there is no alien life out there! And our creator, Jesus Christ, will hold us accountable for every word that passes our lips.

London — For 50 years, scientists have scoured the skies for radio signals from beyond our planet, hoping for some sign of extraterrestrial life. But one physicist says there’s no reason alien life couldn’t already be lurking among us — or maybe even in us.

Paul Davies, an award-winning Arizona State University physicist known for his popular science writing, said Tuesday that life may have developed on Earth not once but several times.

Davies said the variant life forms — most likely tiny microbes — could still be hanging around “right under our noses — or even in our noses.”

“How do we know all life on Earth descended from a single origin?” he told a conference at London’s prestigious Royal Society, Britain’s academy of sciences.

The idea that alien micro-organisms could be hiding out here on Earth has been discussed for a while, according to Jill Tarter, the director of the U.S. SETI project, which listens for signals from civilizations based around distant stars.

It does matter what day you keep the Sabbath. . .

Why? Because only one day will keep you forever in Christ!

By keeping Sunday as the Sabbath, this practice will first and foremost always keep you living in the New Testament world, and away from all those who would drag you back into the Old Testament polity. As children of Christ, Sunday is our natural calling.

Second, keeping Sunday will remind you on a weekly basis of the captivating story that is God’s love. This one day will remind you every seven days how, some 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ passed through the flesh on that old wooden cross. And then immediately, upon His descent into Hell, made war with Satan on our behalf and cast him into that bottomless pit.

Then, having set Satan aside, you will remember that Jesus Christ broke down the gates of Hell, calling forth the captive saints. This is known to us as setting the captives free.

Having brought them forth from their dungeon cells that Good Friday afternoon, you will then remember that He celebrated with them there the final Saturday Sabbath. This fulfillment of the Saturday Sabbath is know historically as “Holy Saturday.” On that day our Lord was preaching to and teaching these Old Testament saints all the wonders of the universe.

Finally, it then reminds us that on the third day, that being Sunday, He rose from the dead, initiating the Sunday Sabbath; even showing Himself unto many on that first Sabbath of the New Testament Age.

With such an amazing story behind the Sunday Sabbath, how, or why, would any Christian want to keep any other day?

The law is plain. As Christ changed the law regarding the priesthood, ending the Levitical priesthood and initiating the Melchizedek priesthood—He did the same for the Sabbath day. He fulfilled the Old Testament Sabbath on that final Saturday Sabbath some 2000 years ago, then immediately initiated the new Sunday Sabbath the very next day, the Sabbath day for the continuing eternal reign of the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ!

Don’t be fooled! The day you keep is important.

This is why we keep the Sunday Sabbath!

Here it is, just a few days after Christmas and what’s on my mind? Why, being positive of course!

Now why do you think this is?

I think it’s because of our focus on the Kingdom these past few weeks leading up to Christmas…

It’s hard to not be positive when you spend week after week focused on the wonder of the Kingdom–a Kingdom that came to earth in the infant body of the Christ, and was then fully implemented by Him just a few short years later.

If we keep this amazing Kingdom our focus day-by-day, it will become the foundation of our every thought. For it is only through the full and successful implementation of this Kingdom some 2000 years ago that we are even able to truly know God.

For when Jerusalem fell and the destruction of the Temple was complete, then it was fulfilled (our Lord’s saying) that the godly would worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

Now, think about this; how can anyone who worships Jesus Christ in Spirit and Truth, be anything but positive? For of such worshipers our Lord says “there is therefore now no condemnation” for them!

Meditate on this simple thought: There is no means by which anyone or anything can condemn you!

And as you meditate on this simple thought, I ask you make certain of one thing–by the power given you by Christ Himself, stop condemning yourself!

No more “sinful” self-talk.

In every moment, remind yourself that you are truly a saint. Totally saved, not totally depraved. And by His command, you will find yourself more and more living a truly uplifting life, taking all “circumstance” and turning it into yet another learning experience about which you can be nothing but positive.

Now that Christmas Day has passed, we must work to keep the spirit of Christmas alive!

How? Well, it all starts with remembering that Christmas is about the Kingdom Come. By remembering this, we can keep the spirit of Christmas alive by doing our part to daily build Christendom in the power of this present Kingdom.

And how do we do this? Step-by-step. . .

First, we daily work on building that Kingdom within ourselves. Spending time in the Word is a great way to do this!

Then, we daily incorporate our family into this Kingdom building lifestyle, including learning to love one another more and more. Simple common courtesy amongst family members is a great goal for this one!

Finally, we leverage the growing Kingdom within–and amongst our families–by joining with other Christians in our communities. Doing this allows us to powerfully influence the world by building the foundations of our society upon the Christian ethic and rule of law. The end result being the building of that city on a hill which cannot be hid!

So remember as we move past this Christmas season in the year 2009 of our Lord’s reign, that while the holiday season might be past, the celebration of His Kingdom continues!

And do your part to keep the spirit of Christmas alive! In your life… in your family… and in your society!

It was 3 or 4 BC, just a little over 2000 years ago, and the wise men from the East had been traveling afar. They had been visited by an Angel–the star spoken of by the Apostle Matthew–and were following his directions toward what, by then, was the new born King.

The directions were not yet specific enough to identify the exact location, so they were forced to visit King Herod to get further instruction. Upon hearing from Herod that it was Bethlehem they were looking for, they continued their journey with great anticipation.

Even better, upon resuming their quest, the Angel visited them again. This time, the angel not only spoke with them to confirm they were heading in the right direction, that is toward Bethlehem, but even tarried with them and led the way!

Then, as they entered that little town of Bethlehem, the Angel entered into the very place in which the manger was that held that babe, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, so gently wrapped in swaddling clothes. Even standing over where the young child was.

As the wise men entered therein, they were in awe; and falling down on their knees, worshiped Him.

As you come before this King today, will you be as the wise men? Will you be in awe? Will you fall down on your knees in worship to this great King?

This is our calling today. . . to remind you to really grasp what’s going on in the celebration of the birth of Christ. It was indeed the literal coming of the Kingdom of God; a Kingdom unassailable and thus now in place for over 2000 years.

Consider the glory and majesty of this most incredible celebration, and, as the wise men did so long ago, allow yourself to follow that star right into that place where the King now resides, and you will find yourself, as did they, unable to do anything but fall down on your knees and worship Him.

May we all be as wise as these wise men of olde. . .

In this wonderful season of Christmas, we would do well to remember that even as we celebrate the Kingdom Come, life still goes on in the real world, and for some, this means great heartbreak.

I’m thinking of one young girl, my daughter’s friend Michelle Louise Spegel and her yet unborn child baby Kayden Matthew, who were killed recently in a tragic accident in northern Michigan.

We can only imagine the pain of her family, from Roman, her bethrothed and father to baby Kayden, to her parents Maggie and Gary, and her siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, in-laws, other family and friends.

Having passed on from this life to the next as a believer in Jesus Christ on December 11, 2009, with her body laid to rest a few days later on December 15, this will now be her loved one’s first Christmas.

Now I can’t say I know why such things happen, but we all know that they do. And I can’t say that I know any words that will make it all better, but we all know that a simple prayer will help–that God’s grace is greater still than all the heartache this life can dish out.

So in this season, where we celebrate the joy of God’s Kingdom Come, and remember the glory of this Kingdom such that Michelle and baby Kayden are now in Heaven, celebrating there in the literal presence of God; take a moment to remember the hurt of those left behind. Maybe even pray that the communion of the saints will be a very real presence for them, and that this might provide a supernatural comfort unknowable apart from our faith in God.

And, if you get a chance, along with your prayers, remember to call, or maybe even visit, someone hurting this holiday season. You don’t need the perfect words, just a simple show of compassion can work wonders.
