I had some computer and website problems crop up last week; a stubborn virus that kept popping up here and there plus 204 “not founds” on my website!

Well, I finally got rid of the virus and I’m down to 43 “not founds” –I think I’ve got all the links fixed but it’s not yet showing up in Google Analytics.

While I was at it, I decided I’d better do some much needed maintenance on my computer and website –I’ve put it off far too long!

I’ll be back to regular blogging by this weekend or the first of the week.

At almost 42 years old, Mommy (that’s me!) can still do the bear walk  -but not a head stand. (We won’t even go into cartwheels –tried that at 31 and threw my back out.)

Peppers get hotter when they’re roasted!

A fox’s bark sounds like a cross between a coyote and a wild turkey.

Chickens can lay different shaped eggs! We’ve found tiny ones the size of a pea and big ones the size of a turkey egg (that had to hurt), but this is a first:

Impatiens Pallida -Pale touch-me-not, Pale jewelweed

Jewelweed is blooming now in East Tennessee and The Great Smoky Mountains, plant grows to 5 feet here in the Pawpaw Holler, mostly along the creek.

It’s stems are the best poison ivy remedy, just crush and apply –it does sting a little, but it really dries up the rash. (This is one of the first plants my children learn about.)

There is also an orange variety.

Homeschool Radio Shows’ free program for this week is “The Bet” by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, a physician, major Russian short story writer and playwright.

“The Bet” tells the story of an impoverished music teacher who willingly spends fifteen years in solitary confinement to win a bet -a classic story and cautionary tale you will long remember. Originally aired on Family Theater in 1950.

Also included with this weeks’ radio program is an audio book reading of The Bet.
