Collision with Pluto-Like Objects Might Have Given Rise to Mars Moons

The Red Planet Mars’ two tiny and deformed moons- Phobos and Deimos, are thought to be as captured asteroids. Although, an alternative theory suggests that they might have been chipped-off leftovers of the old Martian block from an ancient impact.

The argument that these moons not being asteroids are strongly supported by the fact that they both have circular orbits around Mars. They would have comparatively less circular orbits if they were asteroids held by gravity of Mars. A coincidence of one moon having circular orbit would still appear by chance, however, both having circular orbits seems extremely unlikely.

Researchers are now adapting models to study the formation of Earth’s Moon, which is also thought to be formed because of a large collision. The result of the research shows that an object with mass of Pluto impacting after thrown around a thousandth of Mars’ mass into orbit and the edge of the disc would apparently reach beyond the 24,000-kilometer orbit of Deimos, which happens to be the outer moon.

To summarize, materials nearer to Mars would be dragged down by the planet’s gravity. However, the fast spinning outer disk would keep it out of the gravity’s clutches causing collisions, thus resulting into tiny Moons such as Phobos and Deimos. This would explain the fast rotation of the Planet even today.

About 20 People Killed By Suspected Islamic Extremists At Burkina Faso Hotel

The Security forces in Burkina Faso launched a dynamic attack against the gunmen who stormed the Splendid Hotel in the nation’s capital, Ouagadougou, reported the state-owned Radiodiffusion-Télévision du Burkina (RTB) on early Saturday.

RTB reported that there was intense gunfire that lasted for about 40 minutes in the direction of the hotel. It was also reported that about 10 vehicles were on fire, which were parked near the 147-room, luxury hotel in Ouagadougou. RTB had also reported that the Security Forces had freed about 15 hostages, which also included the country’s Public Sector Minister.

A fire raged at the entrance of the four-star Splendid Hotel, and screams could be heard coming from inside the hotel. It has not been revealed how many hostages might be remaining in the hotel.

A nearby, busy Cappuccino restaurant had also been targeted. A Cappuccino staff member, said over telephone that several people had been killed at the restaurant, but was unable to give an exact toll.

The country's foreign minister, Alpha Barry, had earlier told Reuters that Special Forces made up of Burkinabe security, with support from French Special Forces and US intelligence had fortified a boundary around the hotel.

Although Islamist groups have waged attacks across the region, i.e., Al-Shabab in Somalia , the Boko Haram in Nigeria, and the Al-Qaeda in Mali, Burkina Faso was relatively free of extremist violence.

This assault is the first to hit Burkina Faso’s capital city, Ouagadougou.

Friday’s assault on the Splendid Hotel and Café, a place that is frequented by westerners, diplomats and upper class Burkinabe’s, has intensified the anxiety concerning the potential of Islamist extremists to strike civilian targets in Burkina Faso.

Al Qaeda group claims responsibility

The Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb claimed responsibility for the assault, according to the Mauritania-based Al Akhbar news agency. CNN could not independently confirm that claim.

The Ouagadougou attack comes less than two months after a jihadist hostage siege at the luxury Radisson Blu Hotel in the Malian capital Bamako in November, in which 20 people died including 14 foreigners. This assault had similarities to the November hotel attack in nearby Mali, according to one reported witness account.

Witnesses have also said that the attackers were light-skinned and wore turbans. They also spoke a language that was not native to Burkina Faso.

A survivor told Robert Sangare, a local hospital director, that the number of dead could be anywhere close to 20, according to the Associated Press. There were no specifics about the number of dead people, but several bodies were seen lying outside the hotel, the gendarmerie said, according to the country’s state broadcaster, RTB.

About 63 hostages were freed that included 33 wounded after security forces launched an assault to free them, the Communications Minister Remis Dandjinou told AFP.

The U.S. Embassy in Ouagadougou said via Twitter that it is monitoring the situation, and urged U.S. citizens to avoid downtown Ouagadougou. There was also no indication as to whether there were any Americans inside the hotel. In a tweet,

A French Embassy spokesperson told CNN the embassy did not know whether any French nationals were inside the hotel at the time of the attack.

The attempt to retake the hotel was reported on Twitter by Gilles Thibault, the French ambassador to Burkina Faso. Mr. Thibault also added that an Air France flight from Paris to Ouagadougou was diverted on Friday night to Niamey, Niger.

Both the United States and the French consider Burkina Faso a key collaborator in the war against violent Islamist radicals in West Africa. The U.S. military also has over 60 troops in the country who work with the French troops on security assistance.

It then declared the National Council for Democracy as the new national government.

However, on 24 September 2015, with continuing pressure from the African Union, ECOWAS, and the armed forces, the military junta stepped down, and Michel Kafando was reinstated as Acting President. In November, Burkina Faso elected a new president after nearly thirty years of dictatorial rule, followed by a civil revolt. Roch Marc Christian Kabore, a former prime minister of the West African nation won more than 50% of the votes. .

Pros

The Motorola Talkabout T-400 albeit having a tough exterior, is compact and handy in size. The rubberized grips are easy to hold, with the controls and buttons providing a solid feel. The unit does not appear cheap and the yellow color of the family model makes it very easy to spot. The volume comes forth as good with fairly loud and clear communication.

Cons

However, there are a few aspects where it does not measure up. For example, although it specifies a coverage area of about 35 miles, the actual range will vary depending on terrain and conditions. It should be noted that this range is over calm waters or open plains, and if you are using it in the mountains, you can expect a range of only around two miles or less. While most users also complained that the batteries lasted for just about a day, some users felt that a charging base or cradle, would have made a huge difference. Few users also felt that the unit could have done with an SOS function as well.

Personal Review
I am a big fan of mobile phones and don’t really fancy the walkie-talkie very much. Maybe it is because of the multiple functions that cell phones provide. Truth told, I find it a bit comical to watch people stick something the size of a small brick in to their ear. However, after researching the entire week on the internet, my findings have completely altered my perception about two-way radios. For someone who loves the outdoors, the T400 appears to be pure bliss.

In short, the Motorola Talkabout T400 Rechargeable Two-Way Radio comes across as a nice tough little two-way radio set, with built-in LED torches and a weather radio. It is an extremely useful accessory to have while out camping or on any outdoor excursions in an area where there is limited cell coverage. In short, it is truly rugged, packed with features and ready for an adventure.

Deutsche Bank Mistakenly Transferred $6B To American Hedge Fund Client's Account: FT Report

A junior member of the Deutsche Bank foreign exchange sales team nearly cost the Bank billions at a time when it is already under intense scrutiny from regulators. He accidentally sent a hedge fund client $6 billion while their boss was on holiday.

The client supposedly received a $6 billion payment due to a slip-up from the bank's foreign exchange desk in June. However, the money was recovered the same day. Nevertheless, the incident was reported to the U.S. Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank and the UK Financial Conduct Authority reported the Financial Times.

The details emerged yesterday just hours after the German investment bank said that it would ditch several of its top managers as part of a shake-up of the struggling business under its new British chief executive.

It was believed that the junior trader had erroneously processed a gross amount, instead of a net value. In other words, the trade had “too many zeroes,” one of the members of the staff told the newspaper. Although it was only a virtual transaction, it was enough to cause a scare.

Neither the employee’s name has been announced, nor was the Deutsche Bank available for comment.

Two co-chief executives of the bank, Juergen Fitschen and Anshu Jain had resigned in June following alleged slip-ups and missed profit targets. They were replaced by the new co-CEO John Cryan.

The new co-CEO John Cryan is splitting its investment bank into two separate unit’s structure after €6bn third quarter loss. Cryan plans to shed assets and shrink the bank and has launched a major business and management shake-up, as part of a strategic overhaul

Cryan had sent a memo in July to employees citing “antiquated and inadequate technology” and too much reliance on “manual labor” as core problems, which have hurt the bank’s efficiency.

Bank Errors in the range of $50,000 to $100,000 occur at times, and a big erroneous trade can influence the market. It is unclear whether Deutsche Bank’s June error had any effect on currency prices, reported The Wall Street Journal

Nevil Shute - A Town Like Alice Review

I happened to read this novel, while in school. I was a western novel freak and I still don't know how this novel got into my head. Maybe, it was to show others, that I too read books, other than comics and westerns.

However, this book was the one that made me start a long over affair with books, other than westerns.

Unfortunately, I am now more dependent on the net and movies now, and it is quite sad for someone who used to read a book a day. Although, I do try and catch up, but my attention wanders soon after. Maybe the love for books will return some day.

It was an uncle who introduced Nevil Shute to me. Uncle Radhakrishnan (RIP) was an avid reader. He used to read and smoke his "Scissors" with a cup of tea for hours. I used to be in awe just watching him. He then used to tell me the stories that he had read. He used to be busy with office work, and slowly and he would ask me to read and complete the story. Looking back, I think that was the turning point, when Alice came in to my head.

Now, you might be wondering what made this book return now.... maybe because, I was watching Alicia Silverstone’s "Clueless" the other day... which by the way is absolutely clueless......and I switched channels to one of the popular music stations... and the song, "Who the f'**k is Alice" was playing.... So, I thought this was a sign, a sort of deja vu... I must write a piece on the book and perhaps that will give uncle the much-needed rest from my head.

So, here it is... I am just "shueting out"

Nevil Shute Norway (17 January 1899 – 12 January 1960) was an English novelist, and aeronautical engineer who spent his later years in Australia. He used his full name in his engineering career, and Nevil Shute as his pen name to protect his engineering career from any potential negative publicity in connection with his novels. Shute died in Melbourne in 1960 after a stroke.

A Town Like Alice is a classic romance (among other things), by Nevil Shute. It was published in 1950, and reflects the bias and prejudices of its time, but it is also a powerful book about a smart, tough, resourceful young woman. It is more of an economic development and romance novel, when Shute had newly settled in Australia.

And a brief review on the story...from Carrie,

Jean Paget, a young Englishwoman, becomes romantically interested in a fellow prisoner of World War II in Malaya, and after liberation emigrates to Australia to be with him, where she attempts, by investing her substantial financial inheritance, to generate economic prosperity in a small outback community — to turn it into "a town like Alice" i.e. Alice Springs.

It is also a story about healing – after the war, Jean feels “About a hundred years old,” and when she finds out that Joe Harmon is alive, she begins to come alive herself again. Joe and Jean are touching, sweet, and sexy together and very funny. It is also a story that is very strong in depiction of place – London, Malaysia, and Australia come to vivid life in the pages. It is a short book full of powerful moments.

Jean survives in Malaysia because she takes time to learn the language, she respects the culture, and she adopts many Malaysian habits that make her life much easier and more comfortable.

I have read this two times, and each time and what strikes you is the way, Jean and Joe accept one another. They are very funny together, and are adamant that they will not attempt to change each other, even though they are both willing to change themselves. They trust each other completely and they balance each other well and they have great sex (off page – it’s implied)

The novel was adapted to a film in 1956 as A Town Like Alice. It starred Virginia McKenna and Peter Finch, directed by Jack Lee. This film was known as Rape of Malaya in U.S. cinemas, and by various other titles in non-English-speaking countries

Customs officers in Vietnam confiscated nearly one metric ton of rhino horns and ivory, which were supposed to have originated from Mozambique.

Vietnamese state media reported on Friday, that custom officers at the Tien Sa Port in Vietnam have seized over 593 kilograms of elephant tusks and 142 kilograms of rhino horn chunks, hidden in fake marble, as reported by Yahoo News.

The shipment of rhino horns and ivory were supposed to have originated from Mozambique, and that the haul was discovered at the central port of Da Nang yesterday, said the Vietnamese Tuoi Tre newspaper.

The rhino horn trade was banned globally by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in 1977. However, the trade has flourished thanks to demand from Vietnam and China, who have been long been accused of being one of the world's worst countries for trade in endangered species, reported The ABC News.

Vietnamese people believe that the rhino horn can cure just about anything including cancer. Local superstitions also credit it with having aphrodisiacal and medicinal properties.

In Aug. 2014, France destroyed its stockpile of over 15,000 pieces of seized ivory products. While, China destroyed six tons of ivory and the United States burned down its ivory stockpile for the first time in Nov. 2014.

After intense pressure from conservation groups, Hong Kong, in May 2014, had destroyed about 30 tons of ivory seized from smugglers. This marked an important step in combating the illegal trade in elephant tusks, reported The Guardian.

Vietnam could be the latest country to destroy its stockpiles of illegal wildlife products.

Susan Lieberman, Executive Director of conservation policy, Wildlife Conservation Society applauded the move, especially because of Vietnam’s reputation as a global player in illegal wildlife trade and trafficking.

So today, I will share something I do know about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) .. I know about CFS quite well as I've lived with it for over 12 years..

Chronic fatigue syndrome or CFS is a puzzling condition wherein the afflicted experiences fatigue, tiredness and physical pain for a long period of time. It is believed that there are over 2 million people who experience CFS in America. Chronic fatigue syndrome can frequently cause problems with work and social adjustment.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or CFS can be a very devastating problem if not treated with sufficient care and concern. Fatigue is defined as feelings of extreme exhaustion and tiredness. A person who suffers from chronic fatigue feels restless and is not able to perform his daily duties as he or she does not have the energy to do so.

Since I was “technically” an epileptic, I was on the usual anti-epileptic drugs. However, little did the doctors realize that my real problem was narcolepsy and sleep apnea. Can’t blame the doctors because narcolepsy is usually mistaken to be a fainting or a seizure disorder.

As of now, my epileptic seizures have virtually disappeared, thanks to a good stress-reduction plan and my midday naps and good support from all around.

Another point I noticed was that I now rarely sleep off while watching television or at work, which was a pretty common thing during the earlier days. In other words, my sleep apnea and narcolepsy symptoms have also gone away..

But, what is sleep apnea and narcolepsy?

Sleep apnea is an ongoing disorder that is characterized by a reduction or a pause in the breathing during sleep. It is common among adults but is rare among children. While, narcolepsy is a sleep disorder that causes periods of extreme daytime sleepiness. There are instances when the disorder can also cause muscle weakness.

Sleep apnea is one of the more common sleep disorders. It is an ongoing disorder that often disrupts the affected persons sleep. The patient slips between deep and light sleep and as a result their breathing becomes shallow and it begins to pause.

Obstructive sleep apnea is the most frequent type of sleep apnea. In obstructive sleep apnea, the airways of the affected person becomes obstructed or blocked during their sleep and their breathing pauses. Loud snoring results as a result of the shallow breathing. Obstructive sleep apnea is more common in people who are obese, but it can also affect others who are not overweight. The other form, central sleep apnea is more common as it is found in people who use certain medications.

As there are no tests for the sleeping apnea, it often goes unnoticed. Changes in your lifestyle, devices that assist breathing are the most common methods used to treat sleep apnea. Medicines typically aren't used to treat the condition. Sleep apnea is one of the main reasons of daytime tiredness and sleepiness.

The most common symptoms that the affected person has is a sore throat or dry mouth, morning headaches as a result of restless sleep at night, waking frequently at night, memory lapses, moodiness and finding difficulty in concentrating. Narcolepsy symptoms are difficult to identify and it can affect both women and men. Narcolepsy sleep disorder signs generally show up during the teenage years. The disorder is rare in children who are five years and below. People who have narcolepsy sleep disorder usually find it difficult to function at school, work or home mainly due to their extreme tiredness and sleepiness.

Narcolepsy is usually mistaken to be a fainting or a seizure disorder, or sometimes classified as lethargy or learning problems for school going children. It is even harder to diagnose the condition when the narcolepsy cataplexy symptoms are mild. There is no cure that has been found for narcolepsy as of date, but therapy along with lifestyle changes can reduce the condition.

As one gets wiser, I now realize that my epileptic condition is because of the intake of the anti- epileptic drugs and not related to any other condition or problem...

Hopefully, I should be able to go off the drugs soon… amen to that...

Google Reverses Its Policy On The Blogger Adult Content Ban

Days after announcing a ban on publishing sexually explicit images, Google has reversed its decision to impose the said blanket ban on adult content on Blogger.

Earlier this week Google announced its plans to change its content policy on Blogger. In a statement posted online, the company said that from March 23 this year users "won't be able to publicly share images and video that are sexually explicit or show graphic nudity."

The notice to Bloggers behind the "adult" door read:

"In the coming weeks, we'll no longer allow blogs that contain sexually explicit or graphic nude images or video. We'll still allow nudity presented in artistic, educational, documentary, or scientific contexts, or presented where there are other substantial benefits to the public from not taking action on the content. The new policy will go into effect on the 23rd of March 2015. After this policy goes into effect, Google will restrict access to any blog identified as being in violation of our revised policy. No content will be deleted, but only blog authors and those with whom they have expressly shared the blog will be able to see the content we've made private."

This U-turn was mainly due to public outrage following its earlier announcement. The move could even have seen a mass exodus from the platform, which meant that Google had to take the negative responses into account.

Just three days after saying the material would be banned from public Blogger forum sites, Google, faced with "a ton of feedback", said it would instead "step up enforcement" against commercial and illegal porn.

Google however has said it would focus on enforcing its existing policy prohibiting commercial porn on these blogs.
Google bought Blogger in 2003. It was created by a company founded by Evan Williams, who would go on to co-found Twitter.

Blogging platforms have different approaches to porn and nudity. WordPress permits "mature content", but excludes it from public areas of the service and does not allow pornographic material such as "explicit sexual acts".

Announcing the move on the Blogger Help forums, Google's Jessica Pelegio posted, "This week, we announced a change to Blogger's porn policy. We've had a ton of feedback, in particular about the introduction of a retroactive change (some people have had accounts for 10+ years), but also about the negative impact on individuals who post sexually explicit content to express their identities. So rather than implement this change, we've decided to step up enforcement around our existing policy prohibiting commercial porn."

She added that blog owners should continue to mark any blogs containing sexually explicit content as "adult" so that they can be placed behind an "adult content" warning page. "Bloggers whose content is consistent with this and other policies do not need to make any changes to their blogs," the post said.

Despite Google's U-turn, other mainstream hosting platforms have been cutting down on explicit material. Video-sharing app Vine recently changed its policy to hide pornographic and sexual footage. It did so in March last year, the Verge reports .

Google said that bloggers should continue to mark blogs which contain explicit content as "adult" so they can be placed behind a suitable "adult content" warning on the network.

Newspapers have become passé, and instead we check Yahoo! or Google News or an online newspaper site, the first thing in the morning. Then you move on to look at the blog posts and stories that your friends and people that you follow are sharing via Twitter, Facebook or other social networks.

These people that you chose as your friends and online communities and groups that you have joined, provide your daily news.

It is easier than ever to start and launch a business today, thanks to social media. Church Bulletin Board

Believe it or not, these actually appeared in various church bulletins:

This afternoon there will be a meeting in the south and north ends of the church. Children will be baptised at both ends.

Tuesday at 4PM there will be an ice cream social. All ladies giving milk, come early.

Wednesday the ladies liturgy society will meet. Mr. Johnson will sing, 'Put Me In My Little Bed,' accompanied by the pastor.

Thursday at 5PM there will be a meeting of the little mothers club. All ladies wishing to be little mothers please meet with the pastor in his study.

This being Easter Sunday, we will ask Mrs. Johnson to come forward and lay an egg at the altar.

The service will close with 'Little Drops Of Water'. One of the ladies will start quietly and the rest of the congregation will join in.

On Sunday, a special collection will be taken to defray the expenses of the new carpet. All those wishing to do something on the new carpet, come forward and get a piece of paper.

The ladies of the church have cast off clothing of every kind and they may be seen in the church basement on Friday afternoon.

A bean supper will be held on Saturday evening in the church basement. Music will follow.

The rosebud on the alter this morning is to announce the birth of David Alan Belzer, the "sin" of Rev. and Mrs. Julius Belzer.

Tonights sermon: What is hell? Come early and listen to our choir practice.

For those of you who have children and don’t know it, we have a nursery downstairs.

Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our church and community.

Potluck supper: prayer and medication to follow.

Don’t let worry kill you off...let the church help !!

Lesson in Economics

One day a tourist comes to the only hotel in a debt ridden town in Kenya.

He lays a 100 dollar note on the table and goes to inspect the rooms.

Hotel owner takes the note and rushes to pay his debt to the butcher.

Butcher runs to pay the pig farmer.

Pig farmer runs to pay the feed supplier.

Supplier runs to pay the prostitute, who in these hard times gave her services on credit.

Prostitute then runs to pay off her debt to the hotel owner for the rooms she rented for her clients.

Hotel owner then lays the 100 dollar note back on the counter.

The tourist comes down, takes his money and leaves as he did not like the rooms
.
No one earned anything.

But the town is now without debt and looks to the future with a lot of optimism.

And that is how the world is doing business today!

The way India is going, it won't be long before India gets into this cycle of economics as well....

We have to wait and watch...

The Current Market Mindset

One of the most hottest ideas or let me put it in a better way "thing" in today’s minds is female masturbation…..

Personally, I have nothing against it nor anybody pleasuring himself, or for that matter herself.. it is just the fact that I don’t own a vibrator store.. at lease could have made a killing out of this mindset..

Leaving bad investments and dreams aside, if this mindset continues we can definitely expect a lot of "ideas to flow"... As they say, let your love flow..(music courtesy, Bellamy Brothers)..

The most interesting and humorous aspect is that the female community is going at it with no hang-ups let alone any qualms in discussing same... it is just another finger in the pie aspect.. worst case... fingers in different pies... atleast from their point of view…

They don’t even need a gynaecologist these days….

Does this mindset extend to the male species, some of you may ask…..(this is what which has always confused people!)

While the male has been at it for centuries... Unfortunately this turn of mindset has been quite shocking for the member... He for one has never thought of competition from the opposite species... In a way the male member has lost its usual regalia and position and as a result needs some coaxing to even to get in to his previous position... let alone get going...

The jamming is so much that he misinterprets any ideas and as a result he ends up in the man-hole.. this for sure ain’t the right path to ecstasy...

It is funny that all this while, the male species had their fingers in any hole they could find.. suddenly they are out of a job and landing in their own...

Absolutely a drastic thought….

We need change...

For starters, we could try and think the opposite ... with their members and the male man-hole...

Let's wait and watch.. jill out guys...

IGATE Hit By A New Sexual Harassment Case

The New Jersey-based IT services company IGate has been hit by yet another sexual harassment case, with a senior executive accused of harassing a female employee who resisted his sexual advances.

In a lawsuit filed in a California court, the employee, Karetha Dodd, alleged Mukund Srinath, her immediate supervisor in the company’s legal department, repeatedly sought a sexual relationship with her. Dodo has alleged she was promised a promotion, which never came. Things worsened after she complained about Srinath. “Unable to endure these conditions”, she resigned, she said in her lawsuit.

Dodd who was employed as vice president and head of legal (Americas) at iGate quit in August 2013. However, the man charged with sexual abuse, Srinath, continues to serve at the company as a senior vice president (Legal) and corporate secretary.

In her lawsuit, Dodd has asked for lost wages, other damages and attorney fees. She said her compensation package at iGate, including benefits and stock, was worth around $300,000 per annum. She has also asked for recovery of punitive and exemplary damages.

Dodd further said that during her employment, Plaintiff was subjected to retaliation by her supervisor and other senior-level iGate executives in the form of negative employment actions when plaintiff gave truthful testimony about the possible sexual harassment of another iGate employee, Araceli Roiz, at the hands of iGate's CEO Phaneesh Murthy.

In May 2013, Murthy was sacked from iGate for failing to disclose his relationship with a subordinate, Roiz, and alleged sexual harassment.

The case was settled out of court. Confirming the development, an iGate spokesperson said: "We have completed a thorough investigation into this claim, and have found that it is unequivocally without merit." iGate intends to vigorously defend this action.

The firm has zero tolerance policy on harassment of any kind and is committed to maintaining a caring and nurturing workplace, she added.

This was the second time Murthy had been charged for sexual abuse. Over a decade ago, the 49-year-old tech wizard had resigned from Indian IT bellwether Infosys on similar charges.

Dodd has claimed in the suit that Srinath was "close with all top level executives at the firm, particularly global head of human resources, Srinivas Kandula, former CEO Murthy and the CFO Sujit Sircar.
