But, there are many more, and novelist Giles Coren sheds light on the top ten habits of women that annoy men the most, reports the Daily Mail.

Never ordering a dessert, then eating mine
"Ooh no, I'm full. I couldn't possibly eat any pudding, I'm stuffed," she says. And when my treacle pudding arrives she would have one spoon after another and finish the whole thing.

Failing to grasp that she moults
Every now and then her hair would block the shower plughole for which she would say, "That's not necessarily mine!"

Never packing enough books, or even any books, for a holiday
She'll make a huge fuss about capsule wardrobes but would never pack a book. Just a couple of magazines for the plane, which she leafs through in four minutes after which she grabs the fat thriller you've been looking forward to reading for months. She would hog it for a week, then leaves it on a boat when she's finished and says: "It was rubbish anyway."

Refusing to offer an opinion when asked for one
Which is so very different from not having an opinion. So if we're thinking of going out for dinner, for example, and you say: "What do you fancy, Chinese? Italian? A nice bit of sushi?" She'll say: "I don't mind, whatever you feel like." And when you book an Italian restaurant, she would say, "You know perfectly well that I hate Italian food."

Constantly saying, "The thing that women find most attractive in a man is a sense of humour"
Which just isn't true. What women find attractive is tall, handsome, rich. That is what women find attractive. And that is all.

Giving up in the middle of every game

Using a pure oatmeal scrub to cleanse oily skin or using ripe papaya pulp as a mild exfoliant is a good idea during the monsoon. During the monsoon the air is full of a lot of airborne and waterborne microbes and hence a good anti-bacterial toner goes a long way in preventing skin infections and eruptions.

Using a anti-bacterial face wash is also a good idea. Moisturising during the monsoon is as important as it is during the summer. The rains can bring a de-moisturising effect on dry skin and an over-hydrating effect on oily skin. Remarkably, even in the rains the skin gets dehydrated due to the constant wetting and drying. It also leads to an itchy feeling during this time of the year. Using a non water based mosituriser is good idea if chances of getting wet frequently is high. Impersonation is the best form of flattery, and who better than Bollywood actors to vouch for that. Fans across the world show their admiration by aping their fave actors' looks and clothes. The trickle down effect has been so phenomenal, that Indian wear such as the saree, salwar kameez, sherwanis and lehengas are being sported with great fanfare (of course, with a contemporary twist to it). In an attempt to look like actors Kareena, Katrina, SRK, Hrithik, Ranbir and others, celebrated designer Manish Malhotra's designs are often worn by fans.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Manish has made commendable efforts in bringing Indianwear in the limelight globally. The look is so glamourous, that one doesn't need to wear a bow tie, formal suit or even a red carpet gown.

Only recently, Deepika Padukone wore Indian contemporary wear with chikankari work at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Dressing up can be a chore at times. Especially when you are compelled to look your sparkling best even as you rush from one deadline to another and you don't have the luxury of a stylist to coordinate your every stylish move. Here's where you need to have some simple tricks up your sleeve. A saviour outfit in your closet, a careless accessory here, a bit of touch up there...and you are ready to take on the world.

A multitude of thin link chains that don't look as obvious as a statement piece is my go-to piece of accessory.

It's bright, but neutral enough to go with most other clothes in my wardrobe. My most important trick is to dab the inside corners of my eyes with a little silver shadow that immediately brightens tired eyes.

I just slip into a jumpsuit! It could be a classic white one, which I would embellish with beads and accessories, or even one in a nice print. They are loose and flowy, hence very comfortable and stylish at the same time. I am tall so they add to my frame and I always receive compliments when I wear them.

I just head to a parlour for a quick blow-dry or iron which immediately makes me feel smart. Then I put on heels which make me feel professional and a good watch, which gives me the confidence I need, even if I'm not feeling so great. I've recently bought a Guess watch which arms me well to face the world.

I rely on a pair of dark blue or black skinny jeans, which make me look slim and tall, and a shrug. A shrug always looks co-ordinated and gives a semi-formal look. I team it with any old tank or spaghetti and I don't really have to worry about co-ordinating.

However, not all sunglasses block UV rays. According to a research conducted at Harvard University, "Tinted glasses without UV protection cause more harm than wearing no glasses at all. It is important to look for sun shades with the clear protector which blocks harmful ultraviolet light." And though sunglasses do make for interesting style accessories, it's the quality of the glasses that should actually catch your eye. Look for UV protection:
Don't be deceived by colour or cost. The ability to block UV light is not dependent on the darkness of the lens or the price tag. Always choose sunglasses that are labelled as blocking 99 to 100 per cent of UV rays. Some manufacturers' labels read: 'UV absorption up to 400nm'. This is indicates 100 per cent UV absorption.

Shape matters:
Wrap-around sunglasses offer added protection. Sunglasses that wrap around the temples prevent the sun's rays from entering from the sides. Some studies have shown that enough UV rays enter around standard sunglass frames to reduce the protective benefits of the lenses.

Price tag:
Always purchase a pair of sunglasses from a reputed optician and not from roadside vendors. Opt for a good quality pair, even if it means shelling out more bucks. At the same time, don't be misguided by price. Inspite of the high prices, check for all the above.

Check lenses for quality:
Look for a uniform tint, not darker in one area than in another. To check for imperfections in the lenses, hold the glasses at arm's length and then look through them at a straight line in the distance, such as the edge of door. Slowly move the lens across the line. If the straight edge distorts, sways, curves or moves, the lens is flawed. Also UV-absorbing contact lenses should not be used as substitutes for sunglasses.

Tweezer and eyebrows

Many women have their eyebrows tweezed or threaded professionally, but doing it at home regularly ensures that you always have the perfect eyebrows giving you that clean look.

The biggest mistake is to tweeze too much. Avoid over-plucking as it can take months for brows to grow back. The space between your brows should be equal to, or a little wider than, your eyes. Take an eyeshadow brush or pencil and hold it parallel to the side of your nose. Where the brush meets your brow is where your brow should begin. The best brows have a slight arch. To find yours, hold the brush parallel to the outside edge of the coloured part of your eye. Where the brush meets the brow is where the highest part of your brow should be.

- Invest in a good pair of tweezers with a slanted edge.

- Stand near a window with light pouring in or under a bright light with a good mirror.

- Pluck hairs in the direction they grow. Don't grab too many hairs at a time. It's a myth that brows should never be tweezed from above.

- You want both the bottoms and tops to be smooth. Stop regularly to step back and look at what you're doing. If you over-pluck, you're stuck. Unlike most hair on your body, your brows won't always grow back once they're yanked out.

- Once you're done plucking, apply aloe vera gel to calm the redness right away.

It is said that a pair of well-fitting jeans may be hard to find, but once found, we stick to it, and it becomes our second skin.

Heavy denims are worn throughout the year – winters, summers and even monsoons. And come what style – boot-cut, basic blue, acid washed, straight fit, anti-fits or the skinny variety – one adapts to the ever changing style.

Added to this, is the never-ending aspiration to flaunt a petite figure. People do everything, like the wiggle-waggle dance to struggle to fit into the super- tight skinny denims, despite the constant discomfort it causes. This is where the problem begins. "I can't bend, my jeans are too tight" becomes the oft-used phrase. Some claim that they "Can wear it all the time. Probably even sleep in them." The discomforting point is that we might be suffering for fashion, say experts.
'Weather' it's the right attire or not

General practitioner, Dr Meenakshi Rajput, says, "Denim is not for the Indian summer. People wear denims throughout the year – winters, summers and monsoons. And it can lead to some big problems which you realise only later." Many collegiates and even office goers prefer the same pair regularly which can cause hygiene issues, given the lack of ventilation and lead to ulcers near the hip bone. Dr Ramandeep, a consultant at Max Hospital, says, "Denims cause a lot of sweating which means accumulation of moisture, especially in this weather. This can lead to fungal infection."

Impotent factor
While women have the option to replace their jeans with skirts, dresses or shorts, the males, especially those who prefer the skinny variety should seriously rethink their choice of denims. Dr Vikram Sharma, Urologist, Max Hospital, says, "Jeans can cause infertility, as it decreases sperm count. Tight jeans makes the testicles rub against one's body and pushes it towards the body, thereby raising its temperature, which means lowering the sperm count. I advice all my patients who complain of impotence to avoid wearing jeans."

Survival of the fittest?
Just how tight is too tight? The guys at stores suggest that one should "buy a size smaller, or a tighter fit as jeans adapt to your size and stretch accordingly within a few days." This ends up squeezing the body. Further, forcefully pulling up jeans and trying to fit into it can also pose a health risk like tingling thigh syndrome etc. Dr SK Sogani, senior consultant, Neurosurgery, Apollo Hospital, says, "Tight clothing affects the body posture and can hamper blood circulation. Fabrics of hard consistency is one of the reasons."

ATP Ramani, official spokesperson for Levis Strauss and Company, claims, "We use high quality cotton and other materials. We don't use any chemicals or treatments which should harm anyone. The safety of our consumers is important to us. We have had no complaints of any health issues, as a result of wearing our jeans."

Cheap Jewelry can be a Nightmare

Scientists from University of Giessen claim to have found the reason why cheap jewellery cause painful rashes on women's skin.

Many women who wear a pair of alloy earrings complain of painful red swelling and blisters. Even coins and belt buckles may also cause an unpleasant allergic reaction when they rub against the skin.

The research team claim that the reason behind allergies is that they all contain nickel. Nickel binds to a particular immune-system protein normally involved in detecting harmful invaders.

In susceptible people, this results in the body recognising nickel as an infectious agent and triggering inflammation.

As the immune system goes into overdrive, it produces the classic symptoms of burning, itching, redness, swelling and blisters.

The study appears in journal Nature Immunology.

It's not just your hair and skin, your leatherwear too needs attention in the rainy months. You might have the most enviable collection of leather bags, but the best of leather can turn lacklustre when it rains cats and dogs.

Contrary to popular belief, caring for leather is a breeze, and with a little bit of effort you can restore it to top-of-the-world condition. Leather aficionado and founder-president of Hidesign, Dilip Kapur shares some valuable notes on handling leather in monsoon.

" Getting your leather bag wet is not such a huge issue especially when it is a vegetable tanned leather bag. Natural oil and extracts from barks and seeds replace the original fats in the hide giving a unique look to vegetable tanned leathers with deep colours, good body and long lasting strength. The age old technique also ages your leather bag beautifully. Rain water just becomes another element and the leather reacts in a natural way, it lets the water evaporate on its own," explains Kapur.

The best way to save a rain-soaked vegetable-tanned leather bag is to empty it out and leave it in a dry but airy place for a few days. Even better, leave it before an air-conditioner as it dehumidifies the bag. Kapur warns never to leave your bag anywhere near a heater or under direct sunlight as it will dry out the natural oils in the leather, making the bag look dull. He adds, in the long run this could make the leather hard and develop cracks on the surface.

Did you know that like your skin, your leather too needs moisturising? "You should buy an appropriate cream or wax for your leather bag that contains natural oils. The oils seep into the leather and nourish it. Unfortunately, the ones available in the market only manage to gloss the surface, and not nourish the leather. After drying the bag, gently rub some cream with a soft cloth," says he.

In the rains, a light rub so much as every other day will keep your leather supple and prevent the growth of fungus. Exclaims Kapur, "If you've already started giving your bag a light rub, by the time you are done you'll notice, it looks as good as new."

Ready reckoner

- Pat your wet leather with a soft dry cloth.

- Leave it in a warm dry place to dry naturally. Never leave your bag near a heater or under direct sunlight.

- Use an appropriate leather wax after drying your bag to restore the balance of natural oils and enhance its natural shine.

- Always store your leather bag in a cloth bag to protect it from dust and moisture especially in a humid environment.

- Periodically take out your leather bag and air it.
