Lately I have been testing out an alternative to pay per click marketing. The alternative is called PPV or Pay Per View marketing. The primary difference between PPC and PPV marketing is that your prospects are lead directly to your site after entering a specific search term as opposed to clicking on a link that will then forward prospects to your site. Now the most amazing thing about PPV is that it costs significantly less than pay per click marketing.

At the moment, the service that I am using charges 2 cents per view. This means that you can get 2500 visitors for as little as $50. This is a far cry from $3 per click with google adwords. In spite of all that, the verdict is still out on how well this method actually converts the traffic to sales. I have been testing the method for a little over a month with affiliate programs that I am promoting and the results have been mixed.

Okay I know you are probably saying, “Wait a minute Omar…Isn’t this blog suppose to be about pay per click marketing?” And you would be right. However, very few come with all the bells and whistles. Normally speaking when you sign up for a web hosting account you will have to purchase additional services that are needed to run your internet business. What additional services would you need to effectively run your internet business? And of course this would depend on your business. Here are a couple of services you will most likely need to run your online business:

An opt-in system to capture emails of prospects.
An autoresponder to email to your leads.
Video creation and hosting system to market your business. (Video marketing is huge online.)
Webinar system. (To conduct online presentations to your customers.)

Okay so lets add up the costs of purchasing all of these systems seperately:

Autoresponder service – up to $49/mo.

Webinar System – up to $49/mo.

That is almost $200 of additional monthly costs not including the lead capture system. Now on top of that I get unlimited hosting capabilities. What does this mean? I can host unlimited domains under one account, which saves me a lot of money monthly.

When starting a pay per click campaign one of the most important things that you must do is choose keywords to bid on. A lot of people, including myself when I first started using ppc services, neglect during any type of research on specific keywords. When selecting keywords many people just choose keywords that they personally would type into search engines. While this is not totally wrong, without doing additional research you may miss out on other keywords that people use to search for in the search engines. So here are a couple of strategies and methods that you can use to come up with keywords for your ppc campaign:

Go to Google Keyword Tool: The great thing about the google keyword tool is that it is FREE. Free is always a good thing right. Basically you would go to Google keyword tool . Once you get to google keyword tool you can type in keywords or keyword phrases relevant to your niche or business you are promoting. Another thing that you should know is if you do not have an adwords account with google for every keyword search that you do you will have to type in a CAPTCHA code. I hate CAPTCHA codes and I am sure you are the same way. The keyword list that google will generate will be broad and it will be up to you to select the keywords that are the best for your niche.
Visitor Competitor Sites: It is nothing wrong with visiting competitor sites. Offline businesses visit the competition do it all the time. You can learn a lot by looking at how your competitors do business. So with that said you can go to any of your competitor site and look at the source code. When looking at the source code of the home page you want to find the tag and you will be able to copy an paste the keywords to your list. How to get the source code? Go to the competitor site > right click your mouse > then select view source code > then look for meta keywords.
Word Tracker: This is another keyword service that you can use to research keywords. They have offer a 7 day free trial and a paid premium service that will cost you $379 for a annual subscription or $69 per month. Click here to visit wordtracker.

I would recommend that you try all of these keyword research tools out and see what tools you like the best. Also try to master using the free keyword research tools before going out and buying a subscription for a keyword research service.

The Big Boys of PPC Marketing

The main two search engines that should be aware as far as reach and volume is Google Adwords and Bing/Yahoo search. Advertising with these two ppc search engines will definitely ensure that you reach your audience or target market.

1. Google Adwords – Google adwords is by far the most labor intensive and can be extremely complicated if you do not understand all the bells and whistles. It can also become very expensive. Your advertisements will appear in the google search engines.

2. Bing and Yahoo Search – This is the pay per click platform or service that is specific to Microsoft and Yahoo. I have not really got into this ppc service but from what I can see it has a lot of features that are familiar to Google Adwords. Bing and Yahoo Search is the result of a major merger between Overture (Yahoo Search) and Microsoft Ads.

There are other ppc search engines out there but these two have the most volume and reach. Most internet marketers say that managing one pay per click account is a pain in the ass much less two. Google Adwords and Bing are where you are going to get the most bang for your buck.

So you have an internet business that you have just started. Then you realize that in order for you to get traffic you have to search engine optimization, blog, article promotion, video promotions, etc….In addition to all of that, you realize that you can pay for traffic too. Then you realize that you have to research keywords, prepare keyword list, come up with bids, manage your bids, manage keywords, track your keywords……

NIGHTMARE!
