Wheelchair Hoists

Depending on the size of your vehicle and the size of your wheelchair we will be able to give you solid advice on which hoist is best suited for you. So What’s the Result?

Two years on, the reality is a world apart from the original vision. 79,000 ESA claimants have entered through the doors of the Work Programme all hoping for the support needed to get back to work.

Who Does This Affect?

- DLA will be replaced by PIP for all disabled people between the ages of 16 and 64.
- You will be affected by these changes regardless of whether you an indefinite or lifetime DLA award.

What Is Staying The Same?

- PIP, like DLA will be comprised of two separate components: daily living and mobility.
- Each component will include two different rates of payment: standard and enhanced.
- PIP will not be means tested
- PIP will not be taxable
- PIP will be paid regardless of whether the claimant is in or out of work
- DLA will remain for children under the age of 16 until they reach 16 when PIP will replace DLA.
- DLA will remain for those aged 65 and over (on 8 April 2013)
- If you receive War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement, you will not be affected by these changes.

What Do You Need To Do?

At any point between August 2013 and Spring 2016, the Department of Work and Pensions will write to you to inform you that your DLA is coming to an end and advise about how to apply for PIP.

You will continue to receive DLA until a decision on your PIP application has been made; at this point DLA payments will end regardless of the decision on PIP.

For those suffering with mobility problems which has limited or completely restricted the use of your legs, hand controls allow you to drive your vehicle safely and confidently.

The hand controls do not affect the overall look of the vehicle and they come with 3 year warranty and servicing. The great thing about our hand controls is that you are able to operate the car without the use of your legs but if somebody else required the use of your vehicle, they can use the pedals.

Carony Seat

A significant difficulty that wheelchair users face when travelling is the process of transferring from the car seat to the wheelchair. Our Carony seat is a car seat that actually converts into a wheelchair to make the entire process much less stressful and these systems are either automatic of manual.

We do a lot of work for Motability, but what exactly is this scheme that currently helps over 600,000 people, and how does it work?

The Overview

The Motability Scheme was set up to allow disabled people affordable access to transportation that had the potential to change their lives, and in the 34 years since its foundation it has helped over 3 million people lease cars, scooters or powered wheelchairs.

What Does the Scheme Include?

Although the key component to the Motability Scheme is the brand new vehicle it provides every three years, the benefits of joining don’t stop there.

When you sign up you will also receive:

• Insurance cover from RSA Mobility;
• Servicing, maintenance and breakdown assistance, including windscreen replacement or repair;
• Many adaptations where necessary, often at no extra cost.

Am I Eligible?

Understanding whether you are eligible for the scheme is simple, and all you require is to be a beneficiary of the Higher Rate Mobility Component (HRMC) of the Disability Living Allowance (currently £54.05 per week), or the War Pensioner’s Mobility Supplement (£60.40). Note that the DLA will be changing next April to the Personal Independence Payment (PIP). Keep an eye out on our newsfeed for more information regarding these changes.

You will need to have at least 12 months’ of your HRMC award length remaining to lease a car through the mobility scheme, however it is important to remember that no other parts of the DLA will be affected.
