Hmmm...now what happened to my photos on the last post???? Did anyone see them???? Shoot and they were so cool....

Have any of you made anything with "duck" tape? I mean the tape my dad and hubby always use to hold it together with...now it comes in a "rainbow" of colors and designers are making such amazing gems with it...it is called ....ready for it.... "Ducktivities" lol...really check it out ....there's even a "Duck Tape" club...I'm not making this up...here's a great place to find lots more crafts to make with the tape...

These flower rings are made with the "duck" tape....I love them and I am going to try and make them. I just bought the pattern...They are in "Quiet Mischief" Etsy shop...check her out...

Something I didn't know either! I asked my Doctor why do I and other people
urinate so much at night time. Answer from my Cardiac Doctor = Gravity holds
water in the lower part of your body when you are upright (legs swell). When
you lie down and the lower body (legs and etc) seeks level with the kidneys it
is then that the kidneys remove the water because it is easier. This then ties in
with the last statement!
I knew you need your minimum water to help flush the toxins out of your body, but this was news to me.
Correct time to drink water... Very Important. From A Cardiac Specialist!

Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its effectiveness on the body:
2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure

Helpful Hints to Help Us With Less Frustration

I know some of these are old but I found quite a few very insightful for helping with things that are normally a challenge to do especially the key ring idea.. :)

Use a (clean) dustpan to fill a container that doesn’t fit in the sink

Use a staple remover to save your fingernails when trying to add things to your key ring!

Put wooden spoon across boiling pot of water to keep from boiling over.

Use bread clips to save flip-flops with split holes.

Use sunglasses or a small convex mirror to avoid people sneaking up on you while wearing headphones at work

Use a post it note to catch drilling debris.

the art of creating versatile textile out of ordinary pop (soda)/bear/soup/fruit/other can pull tab woven together with fabric, ribbon, cord, wire, jump rings or any other material.

also referred to as "pop topping"; and in conjunction with the terms "trashion" and "upcycling"

Tabistry is a recently coined name for the art of using soda can tabs to create larger items. Often people use soda can tabs to create pieces of clothing or jewelry. These projects are a synergistic accompaniment to aluminum can crafts.

It looks a bit like "Steampunk" but her work is amazing...do go check her blog out...like

Steampunked Upcycling using an old item you have and recycling it into something else that might be more useful giving it a new look. Mich in LA always does this with her jewelry making. But she uses things she finds at the $1 store to "revamp" them into masterpeices..

I thought this was interesting??? ☺ I don't know about everyone else but airline prices have skyrocketed....OUCH!!! Ö With our fuel costs I guess it can't be helped, but it sure slows down those who fly often and visits to family out of state. I know that we have been trying to get a cheaper flight for months now to back to NY to visit my sis. :-(

Come with me
to a third grade classroom..... There is a
nine-year-old kid sitting at his desk and all of
a sudden, there is a puddle between his feet and
the front of his pants are wet. He thinks his

possibly imagine how this has happened. It's
never happened before, and he knows that when
the boys find out he will never hear the end of
it. When the girls find out, they'll never speak

named Susie is carrying a goldfish bowl that is
filled with water. Susie trips in front of the

No one knows why they do it. Yet each fall, thousands of starlings dance in the twilight above England and Scotland. The birds gather in shape-shifting flocks called "murmurations," having migrated in the millions from Russia and Scandinavia to escape winter’s frigid bite. Scientists aren’t sure how they do it, either. The starlings' "murmurations" are manifestations of swarm intelligence, which in different contexts is practised by schools of fish, swarms of bees and colonies of ants. As far as I am aware, even complex algorithmic models haven’t yet explained the starlings’ aerobatics, which rely on the tiny birds' quicksilver reaction time of under 100 milliseconds to avoid aerial collisions—and predators—in the giant flock.

Despite their tour de force in the dusky sky, starlings have declined significantly in the UK in recent years, perhaps because of a decline in suitable nesting sites. The birds still roost in several of Britain’s rural pastures, however, settling down to sleep (and chatter) after their evening ballet.

Two young ladies were out for a late afternoon canoe ride and fortunately one of them remembered to bring her video camera. What they saw was a wonderful murmuration display, caught in the short video - URL is below. Watch the variation of colour and intensity of the patterns that the birds make in proximity to one other. Materials Needed for Rag Curling Hair

To rag curl your hair you will need a number of long strips of fabric. The fabric should be smooth, so it doesn’t catch the hair; knits with a bit of stretch in them work well. Old T-shirts can be cut up to make excellent curling rags, and old stockings are ideal for longer hair. The strips should be at least twice as long as your hair.

You will also need some hair elastics or rubber bands to secure the rags.

How to Rag Curl Your Hair

Start with thoroughly detangled hair. If you are making the ringlets as part of a planned hairstyle, part your hair where the hairstyle requires it. This reduces the need to break up the finished curls in order to arrange the hair.
Use a wet comb or spritzer to dampen your hair without soaking it – this helps the curls to set.
Take a section of hair, as much as you want in a curl, and hold one end of the strip of fabric as close to the roots as possible. Wind the section of hair around the rag corkscrew-fashion. The more open the spiral of hair, the droopier the curl will be – so for tight, bouncy curls, wind the hair close to itself so the rag is not visible. You will then have what looks like a sausage of hair with the rest of the strip hanging from the bottom of the sausage.
Take the rag strip close to the end of the hair and wind it upwards, corkscrew-fashion, around the hair. The aim is to cover all the hair to protect it. Make sure the ends of the hair are secured inside the rag.
When all the hair is covered, secure the rag close to the scalp with a hair elastic or rubber band.
Continue curling sections of hair in the same manner until all your hair is curled.
Leave the curling rags in your hair for several hours or overnight. Hair holds curl best if it goes from damp to dry, so don’t take a shower before taking your curls out or they might soften.
Carefully unwind the rag from the hair, then the hair from the rag, to release each curl. The curls can then be broken up into smaller curls, frizzed, brushed out to make waves or left as-is. A quick spritz of hairspray will help them hold their shape.

Tips for Making Rag Curls

Some hair holds curl better than others. Experiment to see how long you need to keep the rags in to set the curls, and how many curls you need to make. Fewer curls are quicker to make, but contain more hair and are thus looser and more likely to droop. If your hair doesn’t hold curl well, making lots of curls with small sections of hair is the way to go.
For hair that is very resistant to curl, smooth some mousse or setting lotion on your hair before making the curls.
There’s no need to cut up old stockings – use one leg for a curl on each side of the head.
Hair in rag curlers is not particularly fetching. Often women curl their hair in the evening and sleep on the curlers; but if you find this uncomfortable or want to time the curls for an evening event, cover your curlers with a scarf, Rosie-the-Riveter style, to keep yourself presentable!

Amazing Quilt Art in the Snow

This is amazing, this artist, Simon Beck spends days prodding around in the snow to perfect these quilt look designs. He did these in France. Each one is the size of 3 soccer fields! WOW!!! He does it continuously by touching it up daily as the weather takes its toll on the designs. He claims that it is the best form of exercise for him working sometimes 5-9 hours a day, since he has problems with his feet and can no longer ski. This man is definitely energetic. He uses math to get the effects and sometimes it is 3D....

Off To Hollywood with the Red Hats

I got to meet Darth Vader and fight with him...lol....No not really, they were outside while we were waiting to enter the Hard Rock Cafe, Wednesday, it was the Red Hat Society's 14th Birthday celebration in Hollywood.... I went with 2 other gals and we had a wonderful day! They rented the entire Hard Rock Cafe, there was entertainment, catered food..yummy, we all got goodie bags, and then we marched down 1 block playing our kazoo's to "happy birthday" with a Red Hat banner... after we got to go to Madam Trousseau's Wax Musem, and then to a premiere of the new movie, not yet released, "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" too funny...with Judi Dench, Bill Nighty, and Maggie Smith..A must to see!!!!!j

The Red Hatter's line up there were over 300 of us there at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood!!

I got to meet the Royal Queen Mum Sue Ellen of the Red Hat Society

I love "Sea Glass" its all over any beach and can be used to make jewelry, dishes around the house, paintings, or anything....It is colorful and is already dulled by nature.... :)

This is an amazing sand castle built with those pretty "sea glass" pieces you can find on the beach....

“THIS house is called " Clingstone" — a faded, shingled and, yes, very rough 103-year-old mansion set on a rock in Narragansett Bay — and Mr. Wood, its owner, built by a Vanderbilt in 1895.

But in fact it’s the rough edges and salt-encrusted surfaces that Mr. Wood, a 79-year-old Boston architect, treasures most about Clingstone. For nearly half a century, he has kept them (more or less) intact, and the house standing, through his own hard labor and that of others. He and a crew of family and friends who share his passion for the place’s “deep bohemian funk,” as Nicholas Benson, a stone carver from Newport, put it, have dedicated their time and skills (plumbing and wiring experience are always particularly welcome) to keeping the place from slipping into the water forever.

In 1961, when Mr. Wood bought the house with his ex-wife Joan, who is also an architect, for $3,600, it had been empty for two decades. All of its 65 windows were smashed, and its slate roof was wide open to the sky. Vandals had been creative: on the second floor, the interior shingles were embedded with marbles (they still are), which had been blasted there by some sort of firearm.

The house, he learned, had been built by a distant cousin, J. S. Lovering Wharton, from Philadelphia, who had a summer house in the Fort Wetherill area in south Jamestown.

Working with an artist, William Trost Richards, Mr. Wharton designed a shingle-style house of picture windows, with 23 rooms on three stories radiating off a vast central hall; its plan is less a blueprint than a diagram of arrows indicating sightlines.

He built it like a mill, Mr. Wood said, with wide planking, sturdy oak beams, diagonal sheathing and an odd flourish: an interior cladding of shingles, put there, Mr. Wood conjectured, because Fort Wetherill’s cannons went off so regularly in training exercises that they cracked the plaster in the neighbors’ houses.

Mr. Wharton loved his new house, and spent every summer there until his death just before the hurricane of 1938, which the house survived with little damage.

After his widow died, in 1941, the house stood empty until Mr. Wood and his wife came upon it. The story, Mr. Wood said, is that Mr. Wharton’s three sons disliked one another so much, they couldn’t agree on who to sell it to. “I think they only sold it to me because I was a relative,” he added.

Every spring for a decade or so after the sale, Mr. Wood said, he cursed “this albatross,” his roofless, windowless, floorless, powerless, waterless house. Wrangling what had been a rich man’s plaything, attended by servants and even its own shipyard, into a working couple’s weekend getaway turned out to be much more than a working couple could handle. Eventually, though, as the Woods mustered the talents of their friends, Clingstone and its maintenance evolved into a communal lifestyle, and ultimately a kind of religion. What a story. :)

Handmade by Stacy just solved it!

One hint on how to make a wreath a lot less expensive I saw on Handmade by Stacy's blog,

she used a foam tube and stuff it with plastic bags and then taped it together. They are cheap

and you can find them at any hardware store. I know we use them to cover our pipes at the cabin

for "winterizing" it. What a great idea!

Cleaning the Pond!

Every year we have to empty out the top of the falls and clean out the pads and the "bio-balls" that are in

a net and keep our pond's eco-system in check! So this past week-end Mr. Bob tackled the job. Our pond is called an "Urban Oasis Aquascape Pond" that means that the pond has an effective and a low maintenance system. There are no chemicals involved, just natural bacteria and enzymes to help keep the water naturally clear and sparkling. Plants and fish complete the natural "eco-system" cycle. There are 2 pumps at each end of the pond and the fish make their own livable pond living off plants and algae. We do throw the fish their pond food so we can see and touch them occasionally but we don't have to. :)

It was a happy weekend, my Birthday and Easter...I made my daughter an Easter "pink" bunny bouquet, I also made my son's girlfriend a birthday bouquet as it is her birthday on the 13th and I won't see her. The cute "belly dancer" was crocheted by one of my members in my stitching group and they gave her to me for my "b" day, isn't she adorable?

hubby gave me a Lilly plant. :) [tradition] the family had fun eating and foolling around, the g-daughters are growing like weeds, and my niece sent me a china "April" tea cup and tea, and the eggs are the ones my g-daughters colored.They were really pretty. :)

What to do with those Stray Socks?????

I absolutely love this idea!!!! Take a stray sock and make a the sock bun. It’s an easy way to create lots and lots of curls or wear it as a bun on top of your head! Wow...who would of though????. Yes, you will need a sock for this! If I can just make a recommendation, don’t use a white sport sock as if you have dark hair it may pop through and you will see it, unless you like the look??? A darker sock, or better yet, one closer to your hair color works the best...

And some funny things to do with those socks:

Make a :Stress Sock" just fill it with Mashed potatoes [the instant ones right from the box, not the potatoes made lol] then when you feel a little stressed just squeeze it! Be sure to tie the open end after you add your DRY instant mashed potatoes. :)
Put a sock in your mouth before entering an elevator...takes practice, then tell everyone as loud as you can with the sock still in your mouth that you just got socked in the mouth!!! lol
Want to have a party and invite lots of people? Give everyone you want to invite a sock, only one and then tell them they will get the other one when they come to your party. and when they get there make it a game....put all the socks in a pile and the first one to find their match wins a prize...or make up enough little $1 store prizes for everyone to choose from when they find their sock mate...lol...fun game I just thought of huh??? hmmm I think I am going to play this one at my next event...

Have the church address printed on them. Then, hand them out, one at a time, as you're visiting in the community. Tell people that they'll get the other sock if they come to the service this week!
