The sun was shining out today!!!

Fried Food is it a heart Risk or a Myth????

It is a "myth" that regularly eating fried foods causes heart attacks,

researchers have found, as long as you use olive oil or sunflower oil.

I love fried sliced potatoes and bacon and french fries, but about 5 years ago the doc told me I needed

to cut back, so I cut out french fries, bacon, no more fried potatoes and I guess it is better

of course I still didn't lose weight???? I guess its my portions, but I do love food. :)

Now I read this and wonder what????? I wonder if I can indulge again????

They say there is mounting research that it is the type of oil used, and whether or not it has been used before, that really matters. The latest study, published in the British Medical Journal, found no association between the frequency of fried food consumption in Spain - where olive and sunflower oils are mostly used - and the incidence of serious heart disease. However, the British Heart Foundation warned Britons not to "reach for the frying pan" yet, pointing out that the Mediterranean diet as a whole was

healthier than ours.

Birthdays- Skylines- the Marina & Beach

My daughter had a birthday. :)

The sky over the ocean it looks like rain but there is none

Took a drive down to Seal Beach today its only 1 1/2 miles from my house so not a long drive. Hubby and I went out for a pancake breakfast at the
local IHOP and had their cinnamon apple pancakes...yummy
then drove around the marina and beach....

a lot of the beach houses have glass balcony's
to shield from the ocean winds

this is a restaurant that has been here
along the beach forever. They have this huge fish
and airplane on it

a lot of the trees in the parkside
along the beach are very curved and appealing
to the eyes

this house is one of my favorites and
is across the street from the beach

Some Fun Crafts for the Little Ones

Good Morning all...
It is sunny here today but a little on the cooler side... :( better than snow I guess..

I thought these were so clever and cute..they are actually switch plates....easy to make..

Look how easy and cleaver these little "bottle boats" are to make for any little one

you could even throw in your GI Joe's.... :) Also a good way to make use of those plastic bottles we all seem to accumulate...directions on "how tos" here...

I love this idea, any little girl would it on her bed. And its such an easy craft to

do... see the easy to follow directions here...

All you need are streamers found at any party store and scissors and tape, now how simple is that?

Here's an easy "Bubble Blower" using a plastic cup...too cute..see how here

I saw the coolest way to use plastic bottles over on "playfully learning's blog" and also over at "child central station blog," these are so simple and really look like a lot of fun..I want to try one, don't you????

A great way to make those LONG bubbles...lol...see all the details at "HowDoesShe?.com"

Of course there a lot of things around the house you can use like:

Straws of all sizes, Open end of an empty plastic soda bottle (blowing through the thin end), Fly swatters, Trash pan with open slats, Small or large funnels

Make a "Basic Bubble Solution":

1 part liquid dish soap
2 parts water

For colored bubbles, add:

1 part washable paint

Another recipe for homemade bubbles is as follows:

1 cup dishwashing soap
6 cups of water
1 tablespoon of glycerin (makes stronger bubbles for bubble-blowing activities)

For colored bubbles, try adding a few drops of some food coloring.

New Year's Word of the Year

This was posted on Alieen's Musing's blog and I just had to post it here because it

is just too cute not to share around!!!

I was over at Debbie-Dabble's blog and she posted her "One Word" to live by in 2012!!

I found that to be really interesting and started to think what word would I choose????

I mean I am "happy" love being around friends and family.....??????

So what.....her word for this new year is "time" and I like that word...

But I need to "Organize" .....

I spent a lot of last year organizing and hosting get together's and this new year I would like to spend more time on my crafts and organizing my folders on my computer...I want to have more quality time to spend with friends and family. I am a very "busy" person and I do so enjoy my hobbies and groups, but I have let some things get way out of hand especially with all my photos on my computer [as anyone that knows me knows that I take a ton of them] and would like to organize them into albums and on CDs and take all of them out of my computer. I do so need to revamp it this new year...

I also wanted to get magazines put into order and get my patterns written out properly and out of my notebooks they are accumulating and I need to "organize" them better, there it is....my word for 2012 is "organize" ...I want to organize my time with my hubby better so that we can enjoy more trips together this new year, and "organize" my group's get togethers better making it not such a burden on myself doing it "all"....maybe this new year I can delegate more functions out to members??

So I will say that my New Year's "one word of the year" will be "organize" and

hopefully next year I will have organized my life even more than I have this past year

to allow more quality time with friends and family!!!

Some Christmas Rush Frustrations and Laughter

Christmas rush FRUSTRATIONS...have you had any???? Well .......over the past few days I have been rushing around trying to tie up all the loose ends of my shopping, making pictures to hang from my chandelier and baking cookies...I do not know about any of you but I have come across some really frustrating incidents...

So I am out trying to make photos at this Kiosk at Target...and there is a gal behind the counter and she is chatting with another employee and sees me at the kiosk and keeps chatting, I stick in my chip and touch the screen and nothing??? Its black???? another lady by now has sat down at the kiosk next to me and sticks in her USB and has the same problem, we look at each other and wonder what's up. So I try to get this gal behind the counter's attention, not an easy task???? Finally aggravated she says "yes" and I asked what was I doing wrong??? She says, "Oh is the screen black?" both myself and the lady next to me say, "es" and she then proceeds to tell us that she has turned off all the machines because she is so busy with orders that she has no time to make any more photos???????????? Now I ask you why didn't she just tell us to begin with? And why is she standing there chatting if she is so busy???? Grrrrrrrr
I went to Penny's to pick up some shirts that the gal had to order for me as the color I wanted was not available. When I went up to the register, after standing in line for some time, I was told that all pick ups were downstairs and I would need to take the elevator to get there. So off I went to the elevator that took me down to yet another LONG line as this was also the catalog pick up area. When I finally got to the front, mind you I am carrying several bags and my arms are now really tired and I am fumbling to get the receipt out the gal says oh we don't need that just give me your phone # so I so that and re-grab all my parcels and get organized with coats and scarf in hand. She returns and says I need to see your driver's license for ID, so I put all my parcels down again and my coat and scarf and get out my driver's license and she says OK and she asks if I want boxes for these items, as I am now re-grabbing all my parcels and scarf and coat [it was hot in the store so I had taken it off] when she turns and says oh I need to see all your receipts before I can give you any boxes....WHAT???? I could have reached over and clubbed her one as this was really tiring to keep putting down and picking up all this stuff..I felt like I was rehearsing for an "I Love Lucy" show!!!!LOL
Then yesterday I went to pick up photos I ordered through Snapfish to pick up at Walgreen's store and there were about 115 of them so I got a great price of 15 cents each...when I get there I opened them up to find about 1/2 of them with the heads cut off. The young man said to give him a minute and he would fix them so I went to shop around. He then hunted me down in the store to tell me that he would be unable to fix them as they were sent over in that condition and I would need to bring in the chip and sit at their machine and edit them and he would redo them. So he refunded me for those photos that I returned. I did have the chip in my bag so I waited in line [1/2 hour] to edit these photos, then when I finished because I was redoing these photos and it was under 100 they now cost me 29 cents each. :( When I went up to the counter about an hour later the young man said that he was now too busy and to come back tomorrow but they would be fine this time around. So today I went back and also had to pick up pills I had ordered over the phone, there again I was delayed as they said there was something wrong with the order and I would have to wait till they filled them, so off I went to browse the store again....meanwhile I went and picked up my photos but did not open them as I figured they would be fine this time. Got my pills and off I went...When I got home I opened my photos and guess what??? Yup...the heads were still cut off!!!!! grrrrrrrr

It can get a bit "harry" this shopping over the holidays, but I sure am glad that I am all done doing those photos, I just wonder why it has become so difficult to get things completed???? Maybe its my age ??? maybe its that time of year...???? Whatever it is it was quite an experience and one that makes you just sit back and laugh at it all.....thank God for laughter...

First I decorate the whole house inside and out over Thanksgiving weekend...then the festivities begin, my stitchin group goes every year to a craft fair and this little pot belly piggy is always there, usually he has his Santa hat on but this year it was quite windy so it wouldn't stay put. Believe it or not, the man that owns him takes showers and sleeps with this pet. Pot belly pigs are very clean and never get fleas, but in bed, I think not!!!

Christmas Decorations

I have been seeing all these pretty table center pieces around with glass vases and bulbs so I decided that I would try my hand with one...

I went to Walmart and got a mixed bag of bulbs
I had a beautiful vase from flowers last the my DD had given me
and I added a couple of Christmas glasses to each side

This is the finished project!!! I love it!!

Good Morning Bloggers...it is December and the busiest time of the year for me! I had a loooooong weekend with back to back gatherings and parties with friends and clubs....what fun....Thursday was my "Stitch n; Chicks" party, and although it was a smaller group this year, due to illness and such, we still had our usual terrific evening! Patricia won the door prize Angel, Debb [me] won the "Christmas" colors contest. We exchanged gifts and of course sang our Christmas song[with changed wording to match our group] and ate a yummy meal!!!

Next Friday was my Red Hats party with the Social Butterflies.... :) It was at the Vice Queen's house and she put on a fabulous affair...we entered to her player piano playing Christmas songs, all indulged in song yummy food and then drew tickets to choose our gifts that were under the tree, I got a beautiful cashmere scarf and gold pin, then the VQ continued to serenade us with Christmas songs that we all joined in on singing...a fantastic evening...I even won the cutest toy soldier ornament as one of the door prizes....thank you ....

Saturday a few of my stitching gals and I went off to our usual Christmas craft fair in Norco....it is always a favorite as they make and sell the best Gingerbread cookies ever....mmmmmm just smelling them makes your mouth water.... and my BFF stopped by to join us for lunch. :)

Sunday DH and I went to our car club's party...it was a dress up affair and they had rented the whole restaurant...wow....it was an Italian restaurant....yummy!!!! There was a lot of chatting and munching on scrumptious hors d' oeuvres and they had an excellent band where DH and I got to put on our dancing shoes and swirl around the floor several times.... ate a grand dinner and played a fun Bingo game....

After Thanksgiving Decorating and Crafts

OMG I just made this entire post and it all "zapped" away!!!! DRAT!!!!

So I will try again....

Hope everyone had wonderful Thanksgiving...we did we went to our daughters and she put out a beautiful spread of delicious food.

I of course wore the turkey legs headband ....lol....

The men sat and watched the game and the gals were in the kitchen. :)

Then we all stuffed ourselves till we could hardly walk.. lol...

Today I started my decorating and DH started to hang lights outside...

This cute chandelier wreath from Martha Stewart Crafts is not too hard to make and inexpensive. It would look cute hanging anywhere in the home....

Martha Stewart also has an idea for making these pretty Christmas snowflakes....

I thought of an easier way to make them too, use a pretty glitter scrapbook page or how about some glitter felt, then cut out your snowflake or even a candy cane...

I love snowflakes and Martha Stewart's Christmas workshop has directions to make paper ones to hang on your porch or in the house.

I really like this Peacock Feather wreath especially since feathers are the newest "rage" this year...
