sshnas.dll or sshnas21.dll is a component of trojan FakeAlert. The trojan come from malicious websites that ask visitors to download an Adobe Flash Player update or player required to view a movie online.

The filename of the trojan is flash-HQ-plugin. Once started, the trojan will download and install core components: c.exe, msa.exe and sshnas.dll (sshnas21.dll). After it successfully downloads, it will configure itself to start automatically on Windows start up.

Trojan FakeAlert may display many popups and fake security alerts, hijack Internet Explorer, disable Windows Task Manager and Registry editor. Also it is usually installed in conjunction with a rogue antispyware program.

If your computer is infected, you should use an antispyware program immediately to remove sshnas.dll (sshnas21.dll) trojan and other components of trojan FakeAlert.

Description: this is a new version of sshnas.dll trojan (trojan FakeAlert)

sshnas.dll Aftermath and Error Loading sshnas.dll Message

If you are still receiving this error message after you have removed the Trojan, it is likely that your antivirus removed the malicious file, but did not remove the registry key which triggers the program during Windows start up.

This is a common problem often encountered when a malicious file is removed as they often write a command to the registry that tells Windows to load it on startup, but if the registry key which triggers it is not removed with the malicious file; Windows will still possess a command that tells it to run it, thus triggering a missing file error message.

To remove this error message you can open up the Registry Editor (type regedit in Run… and click Enter) and try to find the keys manually and delete any entries that corresponds with the information about registry keys located further up in this article.

Warning: Editing the registry is not for amateurs and may cause serious harm to your computer if a wrong key is accidentally deleted, for the safety of your computer we recommend that you use a dedicated registry cleaner to clean up the invalid keys.

What is causing the problem?

Newdev.dll error messages might appear while using or installing certain programs, when Windows starts or shuts down, or maybe even during a Windows installation, and are usually are caused by situations that lead to the removal or corruption of the newdev.dll file.

If an error occurs you may be presented with any of the following error messages:

“Newdev.dll Not Found”

“This application failed to start because newdev.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.”

“Cannot find [PATH]\newdev.dll”

“The file newdev.dll is missing.”

“Cannot start [APPLICATION]. A required component is missing: newdev.dll. Please install [APPLICATION] again.”

Possible Solutions

1. Restore the deleted newdev.dll from the Recycle Bin. Sometimes files are inadvertently deleted, in this cases the missing file can be found in, and restored from the Recycle Bin.

2. Run Windows Update. Many updates and service packs contain newdev.dll and could repair or replace a potential broken file.

3. Scan your registry for errors. In many cases, dll errors are the result of a poorly maintained registry; by using a premium registry cleaner you can detect potential errors and repair them automatically.

>> Click here to download Reggenie

Alternative Solution

When installing a new modem you get the following error message:

Error loading newdev.dll

Then…

Administrator privileges are required to install, uninstall or configure the DSL software

Visit the manufacturer of the modems website and try to find the latest drivers for the new modem

For some users, there appears to be an incompatibility issue with Internet Explorer 8 and drivers for some modems, you can try uninstalling IE8 and then install the modem drivers again.

The problem appears to be restricted to BT Voyager and USB modems.

If you need a browser we recommend not using IE8, and use Firefox instead, it’s both safer and faster than IE8, but you can, in most cases, reinstall IE8 after you have successfully installed the modem and its drivers.

Tip: Scan your registry for free using Reggenie

Are you one of those frustrated Windows users that is annoyed with error messages, slow performance and a general messy hard drive?

If you are, you’re not alone, everyday people are searching high and low for a solution to end all their performance related issues.

But there are other options though:

Recommended Solution

Scan your registry and repair potential damaged or empty files that are causing computer errors

You could always try Linux, but that’s like a car mechanic trying to do rocket science; there’s just too much configuration needed for the average Joe to comprehend. Or you could opt for a Mac, but that’s like renting a Ferrari to pick up your mother-in-law from the airport; it’s just not worth it.

So you’re stuck with Windows.

The OS that is affordable and comes pre-installed on your computer, but just a tad too complicated for the average user to maintain.

But today, that search to end all problems may be over!

But first:

What’s wrong with Windows?

The reason there are so many issues with Windows is that there is just so much going on under the hood that affects the performance.

Simple everyday tasks make system changes that can cause internal conflicts, installing programs overwrite critical files and uninstalling programs delete them.

Everything you do get stored within a very critical file system that is extremely fragile; the registry.

So what’s the Registry?

The registry is the very core of Windows, the place that tells everything else what to do. It stores your configurations, program settings and everything related to the daily operation of your computer.

The problem is that the registry does just that; it stores everything! Something as simple as changing a username is changed and stored in the registry.

But what’s the problem with that?

The problem is that it never deletes the old settings; if you uninstall a program, the program is gone but the registry keeps its settings, it keeps everything!

I still don’t see the problem!

The problem is that the registry becomes cluttered, and every time Windows wants to execute a task, it needs to access the registry to find the settings and operations protocol for that task and it has to go through all those files to come to the right one, which not only slows down performance, but eats away at CPU power.

And it becomes even more frustrating when Windows or installed programs start to overwrite files and settings. This causes internal conflicts and programs can’t locate their system files, because another program overwrote or moved it, so they stop working properly, triggering error messages and system crashes; blue screen anyone?

It sounds complicated, but you can compare it to trying to build a tree house and your kids always runs away with the hammer, you can’t build the tree house without a hammer so the operation can’t continue until they return it. So you go to them with your error message hoping they’ll fix your problem.

So how can you deal with this apparent self-destructive behavior?

Well the solution is to properly maintain your registry; get rid of old outdated settings and commands, fix broken links and repair corrupted entries.

As you can probably imagine, this is not some task you should try to do manually.

You see, in the wake of all these Windows issues a new type of software has entered the market aimed specifically to deal with system related issues.

These are known as registry cleaners; they will scan your registry and system files and look for potential errors, find outdated files and then start to fix the issues it has found.

And they are growing in popularity as more and more users understand how important it is to have a good and solid maintenance system running in their computers.

>> Click here to scan your computer for free using Reggenie

This causes your computer to not only perform better, but it stops errors and your computer will live longer.

Do I really need one?

Well, why do you people install antivirus? It is to protect their computers from harm and save money on expensive repairs. And just like antivirus keeps your computer safe from outside threats, a registry cleaner keeps your computer safe from internal threats.

Just imagine yourself spending lots of money on internet security, but what ultimately kills your computer, is poor maintenance…

How to Fix This Error

To fix this error you will need to make sure the Software Licensing Service (Slsvc.exe) is running while performing the update.

To achieve this follow the steps as detailed below:

To make sure that Slsvc.exe is running before you start the upgrade process, follow these steps:

Click Start, type services in the Start Search box, and then click Services in the Programs list.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

In the Services control panel, verify that the Software Licensing service is Started.

Use the download link from your purchase confirmation e-mail to start the upgrade process again.

Other Solutions

Improper maintenance to the Windows registry is often the underlying cause of most Windows errors, and any computer will benefit greatly from cleaning the registry for abundant and corrupted files on a regular basis.

The best way to go about this is to use a registry cleaner; these programs will automatically remove useless files and repair most errors with the click of a button.

We recommend using Reggenie because of its strong repair and optimization capabilities, you can download it here and get a free scan to check your computer for system related errors.

Most internet users are well aware that a firewall and some kind of malware protection software are essential to protect their computers from threats that can potentially harm a computer. But what is the difference between a firewall and a malware protection and removal application?

To put it simple; a firewall can be compared to a fence that keeps intruders out, a kind of border police, whereas a malware protection application finds and discards intruders that found its way into the computer already, this is the local police that patrol the streets of your computer and puts criminals to jail.

Firewall

A firewall is a program which is designed to defend your computer from any kind of attempt to infect, intrude or otherwise access your computer without authorization. This can be anything from malicious programs attempting to infect your computer, to hackers trying to access your computer to either destroy or obtain private information.

Antivirus

Antivirus is malware protection, and it is designed to find and destroy threats already located on your computer. Another important feature of an antivirus application is that it monitors your system for potential threats, such as when you download a file; your antivirus application will scan it, and see if it has any malicious code. If a threat is identified the antivirus will take steps to either remove the threat or quarantine it to prevent it from causing harm to your computer.

Many people wonder if it is really necessary to have both kinds of applications installed at the same time, but the truth is having both of these types of applications installed is essential to have the proper protection from harmful threats.

If you need an all in one solution, you can look into Antivirus and Security – All in one Suite, this program have both antivirus protection and a firewall for full protection of your computer.

Doing scheduled pc clean up tasks and keeping your system as clean possible, clearing out temp files and temporary internet files is all good, but what about other things on your computer wasting space?

By default, Windows XP creates tons of restore points on your computer, every 10 or 24 hours, every time you install a new program or update windows and you can manually create restore points if you feel you need them. The downside to this is that you end up with a large number of restore points that you don’t need, and these restore points can be quite large.

But before you clear them out you need to be sure your system is stable because there will be a brief period where you will not have any restore points.

Just use common sense, if you recently installed a great deal of new software or system updates, you would be better off postponing this technique a week or so to ensure the recent changes isn’t causing any problems.

Click Start, à All Programs, à Accessories, à System Tools, à System Restore.

Click to add a check mark beside Turn off System Restore on all Drives, and click Apply.

You will be warned that all existing Restore Points will be deleted, click Yes to continue.

All system restore points are deleted. Now you should manually create a restore point.

Click Start, à All Programs, à Accessories, à System Tools, à System Restore.

Click Create a Restore Point, and then click Next.

Give you restore point a name, like “date and restore point after deletion”.

Tip: Cleaning up you registry and removing invalid and corrupted entries can dramatically increase computer performance, download Reggenie today and scan your computer for errors and get a faster computer.

What Causes the High CPU Usage Explorer.exe Error?

The common cause of this error is that some type of malware has entered your computer and has taken the name of explorer.exe to deceive unsuspecting users. A common indicator for an infection is that when you boot your system everything loads fine, but suddenly all the icons and other desktop properties disappear, leaving only your background visible, and then reappears after a few seconds.

The virus in question is a Trojan that infects the system and takes the name of safe files and processes to disguise itself and it will allow malicious users to remotely access your computer and steal personal information. These backdoors are commonly indicated by high CPU usage spoolsv.exe and explorer.exe errors.

To fix this problem you will need to do a scan of your system to find the malware causing the problem, download Spyware Cease and do a scan of your system for malware and remove any threats it detects.

If the scan comes back clean you should run a registry cleaner and scan your system for explorer.exe related errors.

Stop all running programs as they may interfere with the installation process.

It is often caused when there is not enough space on the hard drive, free up hard drive space using the Disk Cleanup utility in windows.

Right click C: drive, properties, tools, disk cleanup.

The Temp directory is not clean or it is full, delete all temporary files.

Navigate to C:\tmp and make sure there are no files in this folder.

Make sure you have administrative privileges on the system account; some files may be locked and cannot be overwritten.

Read the following pages to find out how to get administrator privileges.

Windows Vista: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555910

Windows XP: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/tips/advanced/adminaccount.mspx

If you are on a corporate computer and the system administrators is unable to grant you administrator privileges due to company policy, forward them to the following site to learn how to create an installation that always installs regardless of User Privileges.

http://kb.flexerasoftware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=Q105140&sliceId=

Finally, there may be traces of files from a previous uninstall left behind on the computer.

Run a registry cleaner to check your registry for errors and remove any invalid or corrupted registry entries left behind by previous uninstalls.

Note: The Fatal Error 1603 is a very generic error message and only indicates that something went wrong during installation and can be caused by numerous issues, if the above steps does not resolve the issue contact Microsoft technical support or the vendor of the program you wish to install and request a solution.
