How to enable .Net Framework 3.5 Online/Offline in Windows 8

Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 is an important feature in Windows 8. It ensures that programs or softwares build for Windows platform performs stable.

Did you know that the program files of .Net Framework is copied while installation of Windows 8???. However, this feature is still needed to be enabled manually.

This feature in Windows 8 can be enabled by two methods:
1. Online Method:

In this method, first you have to open "Uninstall or change a Program".
Now on left side menu, click on Turn Windows Features On or Off. Now check on empty box on .Net Framework 3.5 and click on OK.

Now click on Download files from Windows update. After this, files of around 25-40 Mb will be downloaded and this feature will be enabled.

2. Offline Method:

In this method, a bootable disc/USB flash drive of Windows 8 is required. After inserting the bootable Disc/USB flash drive to computer, follow these steps:

Open Command Prompt as administrator. for this open Run program and type cmd.exe

Now enter this command as it is:

Dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /Source:I:\Sources\sxs

where I: is source of my Windows OS installation disc. Change it according to your Windows installation disc drive.

You can see a line showing enabling feature/Installing with percentage completed.

After the process is completed, close cmd. Voila your .Net Framework 3.5 is now enabled offline in Windows 8.

How To Boot in Safe Mode in Windows 7/8 Pro through Explorer

To boot your computer in Safe mode is a required option whenever your Operating System becomes unstable and needs to be repaired.

As you should have known, Safe mode in any Windows operating system can be booted by pressing F8 key just after the first screen appears on monitor/screen.

However, in Windows 8 you can not access Safe Mode directly by pressing F8 key. So I am going to teach you how to boot in Safe Mode in Windows 7/8 Pro. There are two methods for booting in Safe Mode in any Windows OS:

1. Directly on Booting Screen i.e F8 key for Windows XP/Vista/7. For Windows 8, you have to follow a hit and trial method. You have to press F8 rapidly while pressing Shift Key simultaneously on Booting Screen.

2. Through Windows Explorer: For this you have to follow these steps:

Press "Windows Key + R" to open Run program as administrator.
Type msconfig in it and press Enter.
A dialogue box of System configuration will appear. Now move to Boot tab on upper columns.
In boot options below, check Safe Boot. Now it has four options. You can choose any of these options to be loaded in Safe Mode.
Click on Apply and OK. Now another dialogue box asking for Restarting Now or later will appear on screen. Click on Restart Now.
Now your Windows 8 will be booted in Safe Mode

Note: Through this procedure your PC is set to boot in Safe Mode always. So, as soon as your task is performed in Safe Mode, uncheck the Safe Boot option in msconfig to boot in Normal Mode again.

Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570 is a low end smartphone powered with Android 2.2. It's official Gingerbread update has been released by Samsung. So, all Galaxy Mini users in India can now update their firmware to Gingerbread 2.3.6. This can be done via Kies, FOTA( Firmware Over The Air) upgrade or via flashing the official GingerBread update Package via Odin.

So, in this article I will help you to upgrade your Galaxy Mini to GingerBread by flashing firmware via Odin. This method will not brick your smartphone at any cost or damage it, if you follow the procedure completely.

Note: I will not be held responsible for any damage to your smartphone. Flashing the firmware needs skills and proper steps to be followed. However, if you follow the steps correctly, no such damage or bricking of smartphone will occur.

1. Make a backup of everything on internal memory of your handset including SMS, Call Logs, Contacts and any other data.

2. Your Handset needs to be charged atleast 50% so that it does not shut down while flashing of firmware.

3. Download the latest Gingerbread 2.3.6 Indian Update here.

4. Also you have to download TASS_v1.0.ops file from here and Odin Multi Downloader v4.38 from here for firmware upgrade process.

5. Now all you need is a PC running Windows, latest Samsung USB drivers and all firewalls and antiviruses disabled for the upgrade process.

6.Extract the firmware package via Winrar/WinZip or 7-Zip.

7. Run Odin Multi Downloader as administrator and boot your mobile in downloading mode. For this, you need to press "VolumeDown ++ Home Key ++ Power Button" simultaneously.

8. Connect the handset via usb cable to Pc. The computer will connect your handset via Odin and you can see the connected COM Port in yellow box in Odin Multi Downloader.

9. Now choose ops as TASS_v1.0.ops file which you downloaded above. Click on Protect OPS, Auto Reboot and one package. The file of one package is the destination of file present in extracted firmware package from Step 6.

10. Click on Start button and wait for 5-15 min. to flash Gingerbread package in Galaxy Mini by Odin.

11. After the completion of process, the yellow box will turn blue stating PASS command.

So, now you have successfully updated your Galaxy Mini S5570 to Gingerbread 2.3.6.

Note: After flashing the upgrade,if your handset gets stuck in Bootloop sequence i.e restarting again and again, you should remove the battery and then restart your Ace in Recovery Mode. This can be done by pressing "Home ++ Power Button" simultaneously. Now go to "wipe data/factory reset" by volume keys and click on it by Home key. After wiping phone data, go to "wipe cache partition" and select it by home key too. Now after wiping cache partition click on "reboot system now". Now your Ace should power on with Gingerbread 2.3.6 running in it.

3. HDD(ROM): Now it depends on type of data you want to store. If its just the Official Documents, 320GB is more than enough. However, if you decides to store unlimited Games, Movies etc., then 1TB (SATA/PATA) will be a good choice.

4. RAM: Very important selection. Now for a Gaming PC, it should not be less than 4GB. However, in terms of performance and high speed with ROM, additional RAM of 2GB(total 4+2=6GB) is sufficient for all your need.

5. Operating System(OS): Your machine needs a driver to run. OS is most valuable thing of a computer. I personally recommend Windows 8, as it has opened a vast source of development in Windows Apps and utilities. However, you require a touch interface to operate it meaningfully. For commercial use, Windows XP/Vista Business or Windows 7, choice is all yours.

6. Graphics Card: This is required to use Catia 3D, AutoCAD and high-end graphic games on your computer. A Graphic Card of 512MB can run most games but you will not be more pleased to buy a 1GB dedicated Graphics Card and experience the most of your computer.

7.Optical Disc Drive(ODD): Nowadays, Blu-Ray ODD are getting famous for their performance and large storage capacity. So, you should buy an ODD that can play normal disc with Blu-Ray support.

Right click on any program executed at that time and set priority of that above normal. The time of execution of program will get reduced.

4.Clean temporary files of PC regularly. This can be done through freeware software CCleaner which can also remove registry errors from the PC.

5. Always keep your antivirus software updated, otherwise it can create a mess.
