My client, a translation agency, sent me a PDF file to rebuild in InDesign. Unfortunately they didn't had any fonts or their names. I have asked my friends about those fonts but they were so rarely used that none of them could help me. So I turned to internet for help. I have found this site: http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ . It delivered exactly as promised. So please feel free to share if you have other ideas or if you know better tools for this job.
Don't forget to bookmark and come back once in a while as I will share more interesting stuffs.

The cartridge is over when you had something important to print.

Your cartridge is more expensive than the new printer.

Your printer is ideal for from pov of size, speed, quality but the cartridge is extremely small.

You have to refill your cartridge several times a week.

You a re tired of messy refills.

You want comfort and savings at the same time.

Then the answer for your problems is CISS, that comes from continuous ink supply system, also known as ink system, bulk system, or in French systemed'encre continu and German Dauerdrucksystem. This science wonder is the equivalent of stepping up from the vinyl discs to CDs. Having a CISS is like you have simultaneously comfort that you don’t have to deal with messy refills anymore, savings of up to 95%, confidence that you will not run out of ink in the middle of an important job.

CISS ease of installation makes it more like a toy, even a child can install it, while it takes only 5 to 20 minutes. Its external tank refilling makes it extremely practical. Imagine only having to refill 8 cartridges of 3-5ml of different inks!

The quality and the consistency of colors it makes CISS even better than some original or compatible cartridges. I dare to say that thinking at the time when to cartridge is almost empty and you don’t have the same colors. CISS on the other hand has enough ink to fill 20-30 cartridges.

Chips – what can be more annoying! Even that a new cartridge can be used several times, the printers manufacturers are using the chips to force you to spend more money. CISS comes with write protected chips that can be used for long periods.

Waranty! Using the CISS means you keep printer waranty as it not make permanent changes. You can return to original cartridges any time.

CISSmarket

Client support – of big corporations is virtualy inexistent or ineficient. The guys from CISSmarket and their dealers are small companies client oriented where you will benefit of genuine human understending and support.

If you read, imagined and understand the ideas presentred above you too will say: CISS is the future of printing!

You have to start by downloading a free evaluation copy of 3-Heights™ PDF Extract. I use PDF Extract Shell. After you downloaded EXPS200PreWIN32Eval.zip, extract the contents in a folder. Copy the PDF from which you want to extract the fonts from in the same folder. Giving the fact that this software it is a command line version I recommend you to rename you PDF to make it easy on typing. With win+R or Start->Run, open a command prompt window. Navigate to the folder with pdfextract.exe. and run it. The result will be a list of commands and attributes which enables you to extract almost anything you want from your PDF.

After you run pdfextract.exe you will see something like this:

As I said before you should bring the PDF in the same folder and rename it to a shorter file name. TIP: If you are using Windows Xp or newer versions you could open the command prompt in the folder with pdfextract.exe and hit Tab several times and until you see what you want.

To extract all the fonts used in the PDF you command line should look like:

pdfextract.exe -lf -x filename.pdf

where filename is you know what.

Hit Enter and you are done.
The result of the command you just gave is a number of files (eg. .ttf's, .otf's, .cff's) the fonts used in the PDF you indicated.

For many of you and most of the times this is enough, but in some cases you will need more.

I will come back tomorrow with more info.

Update!
If you get *.cff files and you don't know what to do with them read this!
