It was great to be joined this year by Old Trafford, and we hope that is the beginning of PeaceWeek spreading to other boroughs.

A big thankyou to everyone who gave time and effort to help make it all happen and generate lots of positivity about this area and people. Don’t stop now - our hope is that PeaceWeek will inspire many to positive action in the community all year round.

Particular thanks to all our sponsors, and to Whitworth Art Gallery for hosting three events.

An Urban Miracle is a regular prayer group, primarily for the Gun knife and Gang culture we currently live in.

A place for faith and non faith-based people to come together and pray, focus and visualise together for the young people, families, friends and community members who have been or are affected. Also community leaders and other outside agencies that are involved within this remit.
An evening of prayer stations so that you can either light a candle, write an affirmation/words, say a prayer, meditate, have a quiet moment.

Future dates for 2009: 7 April, 12 May, 9 June, 14 July, 11 Aug., 8 Sept., 13 Oct., 10 Nov., 8 Dec. (second Tuesday of the month).

5.30pm: Meet at Old Trafford Community Centre, Shrewsbury Street.

The route will go down Shrewsbury Street, right on to Ayres Road, then right onto Northumberland Street and straight through Seymour Park and into the Old Trafford Youth Club, where light refreshments will be provided.

Please accept my heartfelt apologies for my needing to cancel my previously planned meeting with you during the Manchester Week of Peace. As you know I am totally excited about and sold out to the vision, aims and objectives of the Week of Peace as this is also a celebrated programme of events I facilitate in London. Unfortunately in this case, a meeting I had already booked for the earlier part of the week to be with the British Council  to plan project activities which are mutually beneficial to social agendas in the UK and 12 participating African countries is now scheduled to take place in Tanzania and not London as I had originally thought. It’s a unique opportunity to interact with key leaders and people from all over Sub-Saharan Africa to explore global and local cultural issues, and put inter cultural dialogue into practice.

It will form a key tread that will influence the inter-cultural dialogue between the UK and Africa and with the African diaspora community.

I do apologise for the great inconvenience caused to many and do hope I can continue to work with you in the future.

I wish you all Gods blessings in the week ahead and pray that the peace will be the anchor that sustains and preserves our communities.

In July 09 Young Identity will send six of their brightest and finest poets to compete in Brave New Voices international poetry slam in USA. This competition will guarantee the winner a place on that trip.

International Women’s Peace Week Netball Tournament at the Power House.

Women don’t need to be in teams can just turn up on the day as teams will be mixed to incorporate working and playing together in Peace.

• • Players must arrive by 1.00 to register.
• • There will be a presentation at the end of the day.
• • There will be food, music, on the day.
• • Open age.
