weekend update

After a week of wedding planning appointments, researching photographers, videographers,

flower arrangements, and table decor... I was ready for a low key weekend. I'm not the type of girl

who started planning her wedding at age five, so diving into these details has been a lot of fun, but very overwhelming at the same time. I know it will all pay off next April once it's all said and done.

{Friday}

I met a student of mine and her wonderful family for lunch at the pool.

School has been out for a few weeks now and I'm definitely already missing my little crew.

I had the best class and didn't want the year to end with them. It was great to catch up

with her and relive those summer days at the pool where you swam until you couldn't move.

Weren't those the best naps ever after a long day of swimming?!?!

Later that afternoon, my mom and I met with a potential rehearsal dinner venue.

We are definitely narrowing in on the details for the big day! It's my hope to have a lot of the

details ironed out before I have to head back to Atlanta for back-to-school.

{Saturday}

I predicted it! We took the ferry into Jacksonville for fresh seafood at the best seafood shack around

and made our way to CostCo for the Saturday madness. My Dad loves that freaking place! I stopped off in J.Crew to check out the new styles added to the extra 30% sale and walked away with these two pieces.

{Sunday}

That brings us to tonight... I'm sitting here watching the Miss USA pageant after a day

of spending time with my Pop celebrating Father's Day. We had a blast walking on the beach,

eating a late lunch, and opening presents. Overall just easy and relaxing. After enjoying my own set, I scooped up some of these from Swoozies and a pair of cute trunks for my dad. I'm a pretty lucky girl to have him around!

Happy Happy Friday!

It's the end of the week and the beginning of Father's Day weekend.

This past week was a lot busier than I expected, so I'm looking forward to a chill, relaxing

weekend with my Pops. Since I'm down here at the beach

visiting them for a few weeks this summer, I am sure we will somehow find ourselves

taking the infamous trip to Jacksonville to go to Costco.

Weekend samples and cheaper bottles of wine... he wouldn't have it any other way!

{Splurge} Kate Spade Grove Court Stripe Maise :: I took advantage of Bloomingdale's Friends and Family Sale and finally pushed the purchase button.
{Steal} Target Xhilaration Ruffle Bandeau :: Adorable swimsuit for summer! It's one of those that's just as cute on. If you follow Life with Emily H on Instagram, she snapped a pic on the beach in it.
{Style} J.Crew Carrie Dress in Big Dot :: I should have grabbed this during J.Crew's 30% special. I just wasn't thinking. I would style it with these Jacks, this personalized clutch (perfect gift!) or this, and top it off with a Loren Hope Petra Bib.

Weekend Update

Like most weekends, this one in particular was one that I did not want to end.
{However, being that it is summer and I'm a teacher- week days and weekends
tend to run together. I literally have to check my phone some days to figure out what
day of the week it is. I'll enjoy this for the short time that it lasts.}

(1) Ben and I started our Saturday morning off at the Farmers Market. Leave it

to my brother and sister-in-law to buy apples and healthy snacks, while Ben and I

walked away with a bag full of mini pecan pies, banana nut bread, and chocolate croissants. Whoops!

(2) We took a walk on the beach and missed the memo on the morning training session

two girls were hosting. {Look closely towards ocean.} Tyler couldn't let this become a missed opportunity to participate from afar. {I probably should have done a few leg lifts after the Farmers Market haul.}

(3) Enjoying the BEST dinner I've ever had wearing this dress and necklace from J.Crew.

This necklace is spreading like crazy online. The Brina Box look-alike is pretty spot on and

the price is a lot more bearable for something so trendy. I just ordered this white one

to add to the rotation this summer.

(4) Instagram followers saw these awesome Govino glasses that I snagged from Swoozie's

before our trip down to the beach. There are the best. thing. ever. They're shatterproof,

personalized wine glasses. I used mine at the pool for lemonade and then for a little vino at night!

I like them so much I ordered a set online for my dad for Father's Day.

(5) Thank you eBay for helping me find these J.Crew Mila Ballet Flats in my size!!

They've been sold out for a long time and I finally tracked down a new pair.

(6) My little pup checking in with the doc. Here's to hoping her hair will

begin to make a comeback, now that her cancer treatments are over! #hiphiphooray

{Funny that it's only her white hair. The black hair decided to stick with her on this one!}

Today marks the day that I leave for the beach for 3 whole weeks.

Yes, THREE WHOLE WONDERFUL WEEKS!

Over Memorial Day, I purchased a few things that were on my Summer Wish List.

This J.Crew Pom Pom top sold out pretty quickly from the Factory Store online.

It's as cute in person as it is online. If you happen to go into a store and see it, I would most

definitely pick it up! As for the GAP shorts, I had all intentions of getting the

cropped pants in this print, but was unlucky. I scooped up the shorts

(25% off online with code GAPGIFT) instead, and have enjoyed wearing them with these

Target ballet flats and this chambray shirt (25% off with code SUMMER).

Sophie Kinsella (author of the Shopaholic series) came out with "Wedding Night" in April.

I picked it up from Barnes and Noble the day it came out, but it's been collecting dust ever since.

It will be nice to finally break it open on the beach this weekend!

The other items are just a few things that I just love. Plain and simple.

"May"cation

So I've been a little MIA lately. I guess you could say I took a little maycation from

my blog. There's no real reason in particular. Everything in life is as good as I could ask for.

I guess I just took some time to focus on some other areas. I found myself immersed in the blog

world for a while. Everything I saw, I wanted and every blog I read was so creative that I began to

question what in the world I was doing with my little blog. With wrapping up the end of the school year and everything I was feeling, I just needed a little time away. I needed time to just take it all in and find my creative side again. I enjoyed coming home, going to the gym, walking my dog, and cooking a few dinners with Ben. For a while there, I enjoyed the extra time where I "unplugged" for a little while in the evenings and tended to things I was neglecting. It didn't take long to miss Peach Gingham- after all, it is my creative outlet and a journal of events in my life.

So here I am, refreshed and ready to start blogging again. I did some "blog-soul searching" and

found that the blogs that I love the most are not always the high fashion ones (which is what first pulled me into the blogger world). While I enjoy seeing the latest runway fashions, I can't really expect to live that life as a first grade teacher in Atlanta, Georgia. The blogs I enjoy the most are of those people just like you and me (Emily, Caitlin, and Ashley) who are making the most of every day, sharing realistic every day outfit inspiration, and give me a little glimpse into their daily lives.

Here's a few small snaps of what I've been up to during my maycation...

(1) Getting ready for swimsuit season (2) Spending more time with my freckled (costs a millionaire dollars to take care of) friend (3) Purging the closet and selling a few things on Poshmark

(4) Cleaning out and moving my classroom

The final pictures explain my blog absence a little bit more. I have been teaching at a wonderful

school in Buckhead for the past two years, but decided to return back to my previous school

for next school year. There are many reasons behind this major decision, but ultimately

I'm seeking an opportunity that is not available in my current school system. My commute will definitely increase. Work is no longer just around the corner. Change is hard, but good!

I really look forward to seeing colleagues that I haven't seen in a while and sharing the wedding

planning process with them will be really special.

So there ya go! Thanks for hanging in there during my absence.

Be on the look out for some fun, new posts coming soon! I'll be spending

the next three weeks at the beach, so I will have plenty of time to work on posts!

I posted this J.Crew Linen Dot button up last week. I'm back today to let you know how I styled it for today. It's a very basic and easy look, something just about anyone can pull off. The weather has been yucky for a couple of days, so this outfit was a simple go-to. Classy, comfortable, and simple... What more could you ask for?

I can't always capture my outfits on Instagram (let's face it- selfies are awkward + hard to capture) or do a photo shoot, so I'm hoping this new Styling Series will help you jumpstart ideas for styling items you have in your closet or are on the fence about purchasing. The weekend flew by. I felt like it was Sunday night before I knew it.

This time of year, I don't really mind when it does that because it means I am getting

THAT much closer to summer time! One of the best perks of being a teacher.

I was able to grab one in this light mint color for $20. I definitely was surprised how close

Friday Five

Recently, I discovered the blog, Life with Emily H. She's an adorable

girl from North Carolina with a style that is realistic. While I love the high fashion blogs of

Blaire, WhoWhatWear, and Pink Peonies, I have to keep it realistic that I teach first grade

and I have to be comfortable to truly do my job. I can only imagine the looks I'd get if I

walked in to school wearing heels to read on the carpet or stand at recess duty.

Every Friday, Emily hosts the Friday Five highlighting five events from the week.

I think I'll hop on this little weekly trend and highlight five things from my week...

{One}

Shopbop had a 20% off sale this week, so I jumped at the chance

to finally scoop up the Joie Marciel Dress seen here on Liz and here on Kendi.

I've been eyeing this polka dot number for weeks, but couldn't cough up

the money to make the investment. With the extra 20% off and no shipping,

I bit the bullet and ordered myself an early birthday present!

It will be perfect this summer when the heat is on and clothing requirements

are nothing clingy or complicated.

{Two}

This weekend has a little more on the calendar than just cleaning and errands.

Tomorrow, I am meeting up with a former student and her awesome mom for lunch.

We've become such great friends over the years and it's been wayyyy too long since we've

had a chance to catch up! Funny story- one day while I was teaching, I saw that "said student"

was playing around in her desk with a little notebook. I nicely asked her to put it away and

focus on what we were doing in class. After several failed attempts to regain her attention,

I just had to know what was so interesting about the notebook. It only took one little

peak to realize she was a girl after my own heart. Inside were outfit designs that she

had been drawing with pieces that she owned or wished to own. It was her fashion journal.

That was it... A+++++ for her!

On Sunday, I will be meeting up with several college girlfriends for dinner.

I'm so excited because we don't get to do this often. With husbands and babies in the mix now,

we have to mark off a date early to ensure it all works out! I love when we all get together.

It's amazing to see how our lives have unfolded after all these years.

{Three}

This was the first week back after spring break. It's been exciting sharing my

news with coworkers and my students. I got some pretty funny responses from

my kiddos and stories from parents about the news, but there are two that take the cake...

"So what are you going to name the baby?"

(Ummm. "NO! I'm getting MARRIED! Did you hear that right?!"

Last thing I need is a parent thinking their child's teacher got knocked up and is

eloping this weekend! I guess in a first grader's mind you get married and immediately have kids.

I already have 23 kiddos and a dog that needs as much attention as a child, I'm good for now!)

"Miss Arnold got married on a pirate ship over spring break to

a boy who is a foot taller than her!"

(I'm pretty sure once full wedding planning mode kicks in, I will

be wondering where that pirate ship is and willingly hop on for simplicity!)

{Four}

I have been battling a major decision since January and it is mentally wearing me down.

I can't disclose all the details right now for many reasons, but it's been a humbling and stressful

process all in one. I know that through prayers and deep thought, I will make the right choice.

However, I am the WORST at making a decision. I can argue the pros and cons for each

side like no other! Maybe I should have followed my father's wishes and studied law because I have convincing points for any side you want me to take. It's terrible and it's causing me to toss and turn at night. Have you ever had a decision that you just could NOT make? How did you finally decide? It's gotten to the point of being so bad that I might just simplify it by tossing a coin.

{Five}

Let's end on a light note- Old Navy has the most amazing tees right now on sale.

They are Buy One, Get One Free. I picked up this cute polka dot tee to wear under blazers

for less than $10. The dots are very summery and bright. Hurry though, the cute colors and

styles are being picked over!

Saturday night, we went over to my brother and sister-in-law's house to grill out and celebrate.

After unpacking and cleaning all day, I had to throw on something simple and go!

There wasn't much time for planning an outfit and loading up on accessories.

My 1969 dot skinny skimmers from GAP are the. best. jeans. ever.

They are by far the most comfortable jeans I own.

aruba

We just got back from an amazing trip to Aruba.

I enjoyed every minute of it. I will definitely miss floating around in a calm

sea void of waves, the non-stop caribbean breeze, and the endless umbrella drinks.

Oh, and the cute, little Dutch boy who served us chocolate + banana crepes every night

after dinner! Every minute of the trip was special.

We decided to do something totally different and booked a day trip on this pirate ship, Jolly Pirates.

We sailed, snorkeled, and did the rope swing off the side of the ship. I was not very enthused about this

excursion and was honestly trying to take one for the team, since Ben wanted to do it. It ended up

being one of our favorite parts of the trip. The pirates were a blast and the secret Pirate Potion cocktail was really, really tasty. If only I knew what really went into making it...

I came back with an unexpected, sparkly souvenir from Aruba.

Yep, we're engaged!! Ben proposed on our second night. I was definitely thrown

a curve ball. We've been dating a while, so I knew we would most likely be taking that

next step soon. However, I had myself convinced it would maybe happen around my birthday.

I was completely wrong! It was the best surprise. Since I didn't expect anything like this to

happen, I didn't purchase the international plan for my phone. I figured we would go to Aruba

and I would truly cut myself off from blogs, Instagram, email, texting, and Facebook.

I was really excited to just shut down for five full days. We definitely talked to our

parents after it happened, but I had to wait to talk to everyone else until we arrived back in

Atlanta. It was kind of nice to enjoy the moment, instead of spending the rest of the evening

on the telephone calling people to tell them what just happened.

So, now we're back to reality and I'm headed back to work tomorrow.

I'm counting down the days until summer. Not much longer! I can already see myself

spending days at the beach with my mom this June + July ironing out wedding details.

spring break

I don't think I've looked forward to a day like I have looked forward to this day in particular.

Today is the last day before our long awaited spring break. My first graders are about to bust

through the windows if we don't have a day off from school soon. Once 3pm rolls around, I will

head out of the school parking lot and begin packing my bags for Aruba!

I can hear my tires skidding now.

Ben and I are headed to Aruba tomorrow morning to do nothing, but relax.

I can't wait! Bright sun, warm weather, tropical drinks... I can't think of anything better.

I can already tell you a piece that will be on constant rotation now that the

If the weekend were a person, I'd kiss him... or her.. whatever it may be, because I am

so stinkin' happy to have two days off to sleep in and hang out with my favorite peeps.

Tonight, we are trying a new restaurant with my brother and sister.in.law for my brother's birthday.

Happy Birthday, Tyler!!

Yes, I have a brother named Tyler and my name is Taylor. Let's make it worse by adding

that my middle name is Lawren and his is Lawrence. No, we are not twins and yes, it can

be quite confusing for many people. There's actually three years between the two of us.

Most important, he's the best big brother a girl could ask for and I'm so excited

that I am able to spend tonight celebrating HIM!

The rest of the weekend will be spent pulling out my spring and summer wardrobe

from storage. Not only is warmer weather on the way, but Ben and I are headed to Aruba in

ONE WEEK! I can't wait. So, I'll be unpacking plastic storage bins this weekend and

laying aside my favorites to take on a long overdue, sunny getaway.

I hope all of you have a wonderful Easter weekend.

I definitely miss the days of trying to find the "golden egg" after church.

Outfit :: Fan Fringe and Stripes

We're back in business! I finally got my camera battery fully juiced and ready to go.

I'm still not sure what happened with the whole 'charging' situation, but we're working now.

No complaints coming from this direction.

Warmer weather is on the way and I can't wait!

I'm excited to spend my weekend playing around with my camera using the photography hints

of Julia over at Gal Meets Glam. She and her husband do an awesome job of highlighting the main

functions everyone needs to know in order to take quality pictures...

even a beginner like me will find them very easy to follow.

This J. Crew Fan Fringe necklace has been making it's way around Instagram lately. Honestly, this was only the second time I've worn it. With the aqua and coral colors, I guess I was waiting on the weather to warm up a bit. I got tired of waiting and decided to put together something to make it work. This necklace speaks for itself, so you don't have to think too hard to style it. With all of the sales J.Crew has been having lately, it's hard to pass up!

Today

It's Wednesday!

On today's agenda:

1. Teach 23 first graders how to read final stable syllables -fle, -gle, -tle at the end of words.

2. Sit in a very long meeting after work because that's what everyone wants to do after working all day, right? Ugh.

3. Coordinate with my camera man, aka Ben, to snap some long overdue outfit pictures.

4. Head to the gym to work off the 5 pounds that I have gained hibernating during this extended winter. I'll blame the gain on the weather. It's been catching the heat lately for everything...{my mood, my students' moods, my weight gain, unmotivation... we're all feeling it.}

5. Settle in to watch Nashville. I'm hooked thanks to my mother. She recommended it while I was sick, so I downloaded the season pass on iTunes and literally spent hours on my couch watching every episode. If I had a dinner table full of family to share my pit and peak of the day, this would most certainly be my peak.

Where Are You Spring?

It's been hard lately putting together an outfit for this continuous cold weather.

I am trying to pull out the bright colors, {hence the green jeans} while still managing to stay warm.

Atlanta had snow flurries today for goodness sake! So much for that global warming idea.

It's freezing out there! My closet is ready for a new season.

A little side note, I finally have a solution to the mysterious dead camera battery.

Get ready- an outfit post should be on the horizon come Thursday! Don't get too excited. :)

I never thought I'd see the day again where I'd WANT to wear Keds again.

I can still remember getting a fresh white pair before the school year

began and being so upset when someone stepped on my new shoes on the bus, leaving

a huge footprint on the top. Day definitely ruined. Now, I'm loving the new line

Keds introduced just in time for spring. The polka dot sneakers are absolutely

adorable! Throw them on with a pair of boyfriend jeans and I'd be in heaven.

I just need to decide which color to get! What's your favorite?

My gym shares a parking garage with Target. Yep, bad news.

Every day I go to work out and find myself wandering the aisles.

I've been impressed with Target's spring pieces. The boyfriend jeans and cropped

pants surprisingly have an awesome fit, and the mix and match swimsuits are adorable.

{Seriously, go check out the boyfriend jeans. I could sleep in mine.}

I love a good, cheap find that allows you to stock up on several colors and patterns

without breaking the bank. Let's just hope the warmer temps stick around.

Outfit posts to come again soon! For some reason the battery for my Nikon isn't
wanting to charge, so I'll be paying a visit to my friends at Wolf Camera this afternoon
to get it checked out. If you've ever had this problem, help! I bought the camera less
than a year ago, so I don't understand why there's a hiccup already.

Lately :: Weekend Update

Since I started feeling better, my feet have hit the ground running. I can't stand

to just sit inside, so I made up for lost time. Here are a few snaps of what's been going on lately.

1. I dusted off the old running shoes and finally found my way back to the gym.

2. Pops sent the best little care package this week. Inside was this adorable J.Crew top I've

been eyeing since the Spring 2013 line debuted. Yep- my dad can shop. Lately, he's been

sending me little packages of goodies totally on his own.

3. My J.Crew got another shipment of the Coral Floral Necklace, so I made sure

to scoop it up. I hesitated the first time I saw it and regretted it ever since.

Thanks to everyone posting about it on Instagram, I finally made up my mind to snag

it as soon as I could!

4. Good Mail Week! My Easter gift from mom and dad arrived a little early... A Silhouette Cameo! Yes, I'm a nerd. Tons of teacher bloggers out there have created the cutest things using this machine.

I spent my Sunday afternoon playing around with it. I think I'll have everything monogrammed before
it's all said and done.

5. While I worked on the Cameo, these walnut brownies were baking in the oven. Mmmm!
With a little powdered sugar on top, they are too yummy to pass up.

The sadness that I feel from Florida losing the SEC Championship is being

nursed by the fact that March Madness starts Friday! I absolutely LOVE this time of year.

Even if I could care less about a team, it's always exciting to see how the bracket works out and

who becomes the Cinderella team of the tournament.

Alright, I'm off to do a few laps around the neighborhood.

I'm feeling a little guilty about those brownies.
