I Had To Start Somewhere

Most of you may know, that this blog was created 2 years ago with the intention of chronicling my small craft & cooking projects. But the major obstacle in achieving that was the absence of a camera to substantiate them. So this blog was just existing. And I was just 'looking' at and drooling over the lovely things others created.

Then I came across this beautiful Quilt Along at Rachel's Blog and wanted to join for three reasons

1. It looked beginner-friendly

2.To get to know how it 'feels' to be on a quilt along

3. There are some babies I would love to make some quilts for and thought this would be a great motivation to come out of my procrastinations ;-)

Hence, I joined the Quilt Along at Rachel's Blog. This is my first ever quilt and my first ever quilt-along.

In that event, you may wonder whether I've got a camera now to show what I've been up to. The answer is still a 'no'. But I had to borrow my student + neighbor's camera to get the photos for this. She's such a sweet and helpful soul. I just had to mention it and she was so willing to help me with this and "admonished" me to call her for the next projects. I am so grateful for her help.

Here's how it all began;
I chose some 'Timeless Treasures' from Hawthorne Threads, Garden Party & Annabella from Fab Fabrique, Some Kona Solids from CVQuiltWorks Shop and Some white fabric from my Mom's stash which she gave me.

Then I cut them into 2.5" strips. And followed the instructions to make the quilt top. The Original size was 60"X80" but mine is just 1/4th of it, because I am a beginner and it is for a baby :-)

Please forgive the wrinkled top. I ironed it soon after I finished it but it was folded and unfolded several times before the camera came thus this state. And when it came I was too excited to remember to iron it ;-) I promise I'll iron it before taking a photo next time :-)

Here's a close up with all the 10 fabric's chosen.

I know it is wonky and not perfect, in fact, I didn't want to post these here. But I was inspired by the quote I saw at stray stitches blog.

So that's the story of my first quilt top. It may not be 'the best' or 'the perfect' but I am so happy that I joined the QAL and actually made some thing that I can gift to a baby.

UH OH!!!

I sent my wish list to Santa and he had packed all of them in a lovely package for me, as I have been good this year ;-)

Along with several other surprise goodies.

But unfortunately, instead of the package I received only a small note from Santa saying that -

On his way from the north pole, due to the harsh weather conditions they had to do an emergency landing on an unknown land. And during the process, some packages have fallen off the sleigh without Santa's knowledge.

Neither Santa nor his helpers can remember where they landed, as they had to hurry on with their distribution around the world in time.

As a result I didn't get my presents yet :-(

I wonder..........

who got them..................?

and what they did with them?

And I am sorry for the others who didn't get their presents too, because I know how sad it makes you feel.

I am patiently waiting to get my presents and I hope Santa's helpers could find them soon.
