Popes Simmentals are now using Facebook and Twitter to promote their top quality genetics.�

Following the launch of their new website, Popes Simmentals are now utilising social networking to promote their high quality genetics. Pedigree Farmer� have now integrated all news and 'for sale' listings to automatically update their Facebook and Twitter pages.

Pedigree Farmer are delighted have just launched a dynamic website for the Lancashire based Popes Simmentals herd.

Popes Simmentals breeding is now found throughout the UK in many of the top British Simmental breeding herds. The original cows, many of whom went back to the first import into the UK were Tintoside Nellie, Cloford Cadette, Greenside Trixie-Bell 5th and Revlex Lottie cow. While the Revlex breeding was phased out early on, the other three families still remain in the herd to this day, with all of their offspring for generations, breeding some of the top UK Simmentals both on the male and female side.

Black Welsh Mountain Sheep Breeders' Association Website Redesign.

Pedigree Farmer have just completed a redesign of the Black Welsh Mountain Sheep Breeders' Association website.

The newly designed site has been developed using Drupal, an open source content management sytem that provides a simple interface for the BWMSBA administrator to easily create new content and update existing content.

Apparently these sheep are an easy to manage small breed with a natural resistance to disease. They will graze well on rough grazing but are also happy on the lowlands or a smallholding. They also produce lean meat with an excellent meat to bone ratio and a full flavour. We've just had a chat about these lovely black sheep in the office and we want some!

Owain Llyr Now Selling Bull Semen

Owain Llyr, is now the exclusive semen agent for KBS Genetic in the UK. Pedigree Farmer were delighted to further develop his website at www.uklivestock.co.uk to take online semen enquiries.

The site is fully dynamic and Owain has already uploaded 11 bulls with full descriptions and images. Each bull also has a link to the latest performance data and a live link to BASCO pedigree and EBV data where available.

The Sterling Simmental Herd has, since its foundation at Boddington in 1978, led the way in the UK both on the show circuit and sale ring. Sterling Simmental males and females repeatedly make top prices at the major sales and persist in taking the top prizes at major national shows.

Very intense selective breeding over a very long period has resulted in modern Sterling Simmental cattle that guarantee a dependable and high return breeding value to cattle breeders. Cattlemen who are in the market for top quality, rapid growth and long lasting bloodstock and who are serious about increasing the quality, improving the value and getting a higher cash return for their own production, be it pedigree or commercial, have to consider including Sterling blood in their herd.

Pedigree Farmer are delighted to see the launch of a new dynamic website for Pasturefields Livestock.

Pasturefields Livestock was founded in 1983 with the introduction of the Pasturefields Simmental herd. Since then Roger, Boomer and Steph Birch have grown the business to include Boomer Blues herd of British Blue Cattle, Silver Birch Simmentals and have recently added Pasturefields Limousins.

Pasturefields Livestock also includes Pasturesfields Border Leicesters, Pasturefields Beltex and Pasturefields Suffolks.

Rare Achievement for Elderly Jersey Cow

A Jersey cow owned by a client of Pedigree Farmer has achieved the unique status of being classified 'Excellent' for the ninth time in succession.

Pentonywyn Pippa, part of the Bland family's Clifton Jersey herd based at Abbott Lodge near Penrith, Cumbria is now 14 years old and is reckoned to be one of the most elderly cows in Britain to gain the Excellent classification.

Abbott Lodge is a 230 acre tenanted farm on the Lowther Estate in Cumbria.

In February 2002 the Clifton Herd of Jersey cattle was formed with the purchase of the entire Ventonwyn Herd of Richard & Christine Tonks and additional heifers from the Farlam and Tarn Herds of Arnold & Mary Thompson and John & Caroline Elliot.The herd is now in the top 50 of MDC evaluations. �

�The North of England Mule Sheep Association (NEMSA) has launched a new website designed and built by Pedigree Farmer.

�The new site has been built using Drupal, an open source content management sytem that provides a simple interface for the NEMSA administrator to easily create new content and update existing content.

NEMSA was formed by enthusiastic breeders in 1980 to publicise and promote the Mule to the benefit of both breeders and purchasers. The Association is organised into nine branches and has about 1000 members.

Banksgate Fell Ponies Site Goes Live

�Banksgate Fell Ponies founded by Tony & Elyned Ashcroft have launched a website to promote their fell pony stud located North Stainmore, Cumbria.

Established in 1999 Banksgate is now the only fell pony stud on Stainmore and lies within the home range of the fell pony breed between 1000 & 1300 feet above sea level.

Many of the ponies have been shown successfully at the highest levels with several County level champions and prize winners. The site showcases the herd of 24 and promotes the licensed stallions at stud and ponies for sale.

Marlepark Limousins Herd Goes Live

Marlepark Limousins at Castlewigg Farm, Whithorn breed and sell top quality Pedigree Limousin bulls, heifers and semen from their high EBV stock bulls. They also cross selected pure Limousin cows with the British Blue, producing black calves with lots of shape.

The herd was established in 2001, with females bought from the Normande, Earnockmuir and Lucevalley herds and now consists of around 100 pedigree cows and 100 pure Limousin commercial cows.

Each pedigree animal on the site is linked direct to live pedigree and EBV data provided by BASCO/SAC.�

Crossrigg Holsteins Herd Goes Live

John and Debbie Harrison have launched a new website to promote their herd of Holstein cattle, and particularly a family of cows descended from one award-winning animal.

The site details the dairy cattle kept by the Harrisons, of Crossrigg Farm, Cliburn and the undoubted star is Ewefields Lucy 7, a tremendous cow that is still performing well at the age of 13. Situated in the North of England in Cumbria, Crossrigg Farm is a holding of 300 acres with a dairy herd of 130 cows plus 150 followers.

Each pedigree animal links directly to pedigree data powered by the CDI database.
