Orlando, FL, February 25, 2020 – Claudia Menezes, vice president and co-founder of GoPegasus, was honored by WITTI (Women in Travel and Tourism International) as one of the  Top Women in Travel and Tourism at the recent Connect Travel Marketplace in Kissimmee, Florida.

Menezes was selected by a panel of travel industry peers as one of the Outstanding Women in Travel and Transportation. The award was presented by Kelly Craighead, president and CEO of Cruise Lines International Association, during a February 20 ceremony. Recognized for her trailblazing and innovative business approach, Menezes – along with her co-founder Fernando Pereira – has grown their family-owned transportation company into a global operation, servicing leisure and corporate clients in all aspects of travel planning and management.

WITTI was founded by Laura Mandala of Mandala Research to serve as a forum for networking, advocacy, education and professional development for women working in the travel industry. According to WITTI, research by the Peterson Institute for International Economics shows a positive correlation between the presence of women in corporate leadership positions and profitability. In fact, the findings from a survey of more than 20,000 firms globally, indicated that those companies increasing their representation of women in senior leadership roles by 30  percent experienced a 15 percent increase in profitability.

Menezes began her travel career in her native Brazil. She has been inspired by many women along the way, but none more than her mother whom she claims as her greatest mentor and role model.

“I am very honored to be recognized along with so many incredible women in the travel industry who work hard every day to go above and beyond to create a quality experience for their clients, “ said Menezes. “And I’m especially grateful to WITTI for their part in raising the profile of women in all roles who make a positive impact on our industry.”

Pack your passports because today we are traveling to the French and Italian Riviera at Walt Disney World’s newest resort! This Resort is themed to portray the beautiful European Riviera and was inspired by Walt Disney’s trips to the region.

Throughout the resort you will find odes to the region from which the inspiration arises. From the names of the restaurants, to the European inspired Disney art, movie posters, and memorabilia from Walt’s own travels to the Riviera, its a sight to see. We highly recommend that guests take their time to walk around the resort and see all of the breathtaking art.

Rooms

Disney’s Riviera Resort opened mid-December 2019 and became the newest Disney Vacation Club Resort. The rooms were designed to give you the comfort of a home away from home including dishware and even a kitchen for the villas. While the resort is part of Disney’s Time-Share, you can book a room at any time.

Remember the stunning Disney art that we mentioned? Every room is also beautifully adorned with Disney works of art to add a nice touch of elegance. Guests can book studios for 5 adults and villas for up to 12 adults! The most innovative room offering however are the Tower Rooms designed for couples which includes a couch with a murphy bed, a deluxe bathroom and a romantic balcony!

Entertainment

The resort is filled with fun things for guests to enjoy! On top of the typical Disney entertainment like trivia and movies under the stars, the Riviera comes with fun games such as a life-size chess board as well as the European classic Bocce ball. There are also games inside at the cozy Voyager’s Lounge where guests can play scrabble, cards or checkers while they sip on their espressos.

Guest can also take a break from the Florida heat and swim in one of the two pools at the Riviera while the little ones splash around the kid’s water playground S’il Vous Play (pun intended).

True to its European counterpart, the Riviera resort has dining options for every occasion. Take a look at some of the savory options.

Le Petit Café – True to its name, which is a nice nod to Disney’s Aristocats, this quaint little café serves delicious lattes and pastries all day and at night they serve delicious French cheese and wine!

Bar Riva – This elegant and relaxing poolside bar will make you want to order an Aperol Spritz and feel transported to the Riviera. The bar offers diverse Italian inspired drinks as well as tasty snacks for a relaxing pool day.

Primo Piatto – Do not be fooled, this might be the Riviera’s quick-service but it does not lack in taste or luxury! Guests are able to order delicious Italian flatbreads, pastas and gelatos without having to break the bank or wait for a full sit-down meal.

Topolino’s Terrace – This stunning restaurant is the flagship of the resort, which is no surprise since it is the Italian name for the best Mouse around, Mickey. In the mornings, guests get to meet the the mouse himself along with his friends adorned with exclusive costumes for the Riviera Resort. Showing off their artistic European inspired hobbies, Mickey is a painter, Minnie is a poet, Donald is a sculptor and Daisy is a ballerina. At night, the theme switches to luxury. Guests are surrounded by breathtaking views from this rooftop restaurant and can even enjoy the fireworks from their tables or from the terrace while they dine on refined hand-made Italian pastas.

The Riviera boasts the same transportation services all Disney resorts have including buses transportation to the parks and Disney’s Magical Express to the Airport. WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort

The 2017 D23 Expo already showed us that Disney has BIG plans for the 50^th anniversary of the Walt Disney World resort with exciting additions like a TRON roller coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and a lot of new additions to Epcot including a Guardians of the Galaxy coaster! New this year:

New at Epcot

Epcot is the park getting the most attention; it is going to be completely reimagined, including a completely new entrance and park center. On top of that some exciting new additions are:

Moana

The popular Disney movie is coming to Epcot with the addition of a water maze area, Journey of Water, will have inspirations pulled directly from Moana. This is on top of a new Nature inspired pavilion to be called World Nature, replacing the current Land and Seas pavilions.

Mary Poppins!

The world’s most famous nanny is flying to the UK pavilion in Epcot with the inclusion of a whole new ride and a new “Cherry Tree Lane” neighborhood straight from the movies!

• The Guardians of the Galaxy coaster will be called Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and will feature the first reverse launch into space!
• Near it, the new space themed restaurant will be called Space 220 Restaurant and will open this winter as an out-of-this-world culinary experience with the celestial panorama of a space station, including daytime and nighttime views of Earth from 220 miles up.
• The France pavilion is getting a new creperie AND a new ride: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opening summer 2020.
• The name for the new permanent Epcot fireworks show has been announced. HarmonioUS will debut in 2020 after the temporary show, Epcot Forever finishes its limited run. The new show will celebrate how the music of Disney inspires people the world over, carrying you away harmoniously on a stream of familiar Disney tunes reinterpreted by a diverse group of artists from around the globe.

Disney Springs

Disney shared some information about the highly anticipated new Cirque Du Soleil show coming to the Walt Disney World Resort. Disney has been working closely with Cirque to create an exciting new show that tells the story of Disney Animation with live performers interacting with animation on stage. The story follows the daughter of a Disney Animator as she discovers the world of animation and will premiere on April 17, 2020!

Avengers assemble! A new expansion is coming to DCA! Now guests can be recruited to join the best superhero team with exciting new attractions. Phase One will open in 2020 with exciting rides including a Spider-Man Experience where guests will test drive the latest “Web Slinger” invention. Guests will also be able to meet their favorite heroes including Ant-Man and the Wasp, Black Widow, Doctor Strange and much more!

Phase two will open in the future with the Avengers headquarters and a brand-new, highly technological ride, that takes you to Wakanda to fight alongside The Avengers

New at Disneyland Park

Disneyland is getting a whole new parade in spring 2020! The new Magic Happens will travel down Main Street and celebrate awe-inspiring moments of magic including brand new floats honoring Coco, Moana and Sleeping Beauty with a color changing dress!

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World early 2020, is also coming to Disneyland’s Toontown in 2022!

DISNEY CRUISE LINE

As you might know, DCL is getting three new ships. However, this weekend we learned that the first new ship has been named! The fifth Disney Cruise Line ship, Disney Wish, will set sail on January 2022! The ship’s atrium will be a bright, airy and elegant space inspired by the beauty of an enchanted fairytale and the ship will make sure to make all your wishes come true!

The cruises are also getting a second private Disney Port. On top of the beloved Castaway Cay, guests will now also get to travel to Lighthouse Point in the Bahamas and experience the spirit, culture and natural beauty of the area!

THE STORY

Our journey takes place in Batuu, a planet not yet explored in the Star Wars Universe, but that does not mean that guests won’t be able to interact with the characters they have grown to love.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge takes us to Black Spire Outpost, a rugged village for people looking to lay low, far away from trouble. Turns out trouble has a way of catching up to us, even in the most isolated of places. The First Order has recently flown to Batuu and they are looking for something…What could it be?

In Batuu, you will find Storm Troopers roaming around looking for rebels and maybe even Kylo Ren himself! At the same time, the Resistance has taken advantage of the many mountain-like petrified trees and forests surrounding the outpost to set up their temporary base. Keep an eye out for Chewbacca or Rey going on missions to find supplies for the resistance.

With both of these teams in close quarters, who knows what sorts of trouble and adventures guests will get into?

Immersion

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is truly immersive, unlike anything guests have ever experienced before. Cast Members have their own storylines and approach guests to help them in their missions, and so might famous Star Wars characters.

As if that was not exciting enough, guests will be taken inside the story as there will be a lot to interact with throughout the land. What creatures will you find lurking around? To bring this interaction to another level, guests will be able to use the Disney Play app to interact with various items in the Black Spire Outpost. For those who don’t know, Disney Play is a free app that guests can download to interact with Disney parks by playing interactive games that fit the area that they are currently visiting. At Galaxy’s Edge, the app will allow guests to translate galactic languages to participate in missions or interact with various objects like droids, ships, fountains and media screens.

Did you know? The citizens of Batuu even have their own sayings! Bright Suns means good morning and Rising Moons good evening! To say goodbye you should say ‘Til the Spires or May the Spires Keep You!

Merchandise

To take immersion to the next level, even the merchandise tells a story and was created specifically for the land. Guests will be able to build their own customizable lightsaber like never before at Savi’s Workshop. No saber would be complete without a kyber crystal at its heart to create its light.  Which path will you choose?

Guests will also be able to visit Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities to find rare and antique items that tell the ancient stories of the Star Wars Universe including Jedi and Sith artifacts. At the Creature Stall guests will find fascinating beast from around the galaxy, both friendly and foe. Who can resist an adorable Porg? The Toydarian Toymaker will offer handcrafted artisan-style plush and toys.

For the guests that have chosen which side they want to stand with they can visit either the Resistance Supply or the First Order Cargo store to pledge their loyalty.

Lastly, at the Droid Depot guests will be able to build and customize their own astromerch droids who will be capable of interacting with the elements in the land and respond to guests’ behaviors! For those who love the classic droids, guests will also be able to purchase pre-built droids like the famous C-3PO.

Food

The land will also boast a culinary immersion through its many food options. Guests will be able to visit Oga’s Cantina for unique drinks, after all: who doesn’t need a break after so much adventuring? All drinks are inspired by the Star Wars universe including drinks like the Jedi Mind Trick and the Jabba Juice. A true Star Wars cantina would not be complete without iconic tunes for guests to enjoy. The best part? The DJ, Rex, is someone guests might recognize from the original Star Tours…

For guests looking for something a little more substantial, they can head on over to Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo for exotic meals ranging from meat roasts to noodles and vegetarian friendly spreads that will please all appetites. For something quicker, guests can head over to Ronto Roasters for barbecue and sandwiches. For the true fans, there will also be a Milk Stand offering the blue and green milk seen in the beloved movies. Which one will you choose?

Attractions

There will be two new state of the art attractions in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge: Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, guests are able to come aboard Han Solo’s iconic ship in a one of a kind mission as either the pilot, flight engineer or gunner. Unlike other rides, how well you perform will have an effect on the ride! If you crash your ship a lot, the Falcon might look damaged when you walk out and you might get a reputation as a bad pilor! Will you succeed in this mission?

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will make guests new recruits for the Resistance, in what promises to be the most advanced and immersive experience that Disney has ever created. However, danger is never far behind. Guests will find themselves coming face to face against the First Order and their leader, Kylo Ren. Will you be able to escape? This ride is set to open in December at Walt Disney World, and in early 2020 in Disneyland.

So When Can I Go?

Galaxy’s Edge is already open at Disneyland and will open in Walt Disney World on August 29^th.  When planning your trip, please keep in mind that the land will open in phases, meaning that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will only open on a later date. On top of that, for the first couple of months, passengers at the Walt Disney World resort will not be able to book FastPass+ for the land’s attractions. Please note that some experiences like Oga’s Catina and bulding your lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop require a reservation, reservations are already open for both coasts so book fast!
