The Steelhead Fishing has been Very good North of Pemberton, BC on The Fraser River in Lillooet BC. I have yet used my Fly Rod this year for them but plan on it next Weekend. In the Video I was using Spudvalley Crocs, Nickel finish with a red slash and a Silver with a prism sticker, both were 21grams. Both are available at Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd. Ice Fishing in Clinton, BC Canada - Gateway to the Cariboo, Chilcotin and Bonaparte

Clinton is home to some of the Best Ice fishing in BC and is the gateway into the Cariboo, Chilcotin and the Bonaparte Plateau. There are over 100 lakes you could visit within 1 hours drive of Clinton. Lakes in the area provide great fishing for trophy Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout and Burbot "freshwater lingcod". Most of the lakes are small in size, shallow, provide awesome structure and have great access. Winters are long and cold, without the snow that the Coastal regions of the Province receive. You will find it easy to get around with a vehicle with Snow tires, most of the roads are plowed because of logging in the area. I have found that most of the people in the area are helpful in pointing out a Quality lake to Ice fish, because there are many of them.

Beaverdam Lake - Brook Trout.
Big Bar Lake and Little Big Bar Lake - Rainbow Trout.
Leighwood Lake - Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout

Ice Fishing Pavilion Lake, BC Canada

Pavilion Lake is located on Hwy 99 between Lillooet, BC and Cache Creek, BC. Hwy 99 offers great access to this lake because it follows along side of it. The lake is approximately 5km long and offers incredible Ice fishing for large Rainbow Trout. Rainbow Trout in this lake average 2lbs and can reach 6-7lbs. One thing you will notice when fishing Pavilion Lake is the water Clarity, you can see your hook a good 30' below the ice. For best fishing in the Winter months, fish the ends of the lake using a "Fish Talk" Zapper tipped with a chunk of Shrimp. Meal worms and Maggots also work well in this lake as bait. Pavilion Lake is located in a narrow Valley and is usually windy, so be prepared for a cold windy day. The use of an Ice Hut makes this lake a lot more enjoyable.
The following pictures are of Rainbow Trout caught at Pavilion Lake. The weather was very cold this day -30c and the fish flash froze.

Ice Fishing Blackwater Lake Near Pemberton, BC Canada

Blackwater lake has been the most productive lake for Ice fishing in the Pemberton Area. The Ice is 8"-10" thick and fish have been actively feeding all over the lake. We have been fishing out near the middle with great results. When fishing in the middle make sure to be using a jig, my favorite is a Trout Talk Zapper. The Trout Talk Zapper is much like a deadly dick, but much thinner and a bit wider, this gives it more mobility "darts, dives, dodges and delivers" getting the curiosity of more fish. Shrimp has been our choice of Bait.
At Blackwater lake last week I witnessed a 26" Rainbow Trout get pulled up through an ice hole after a 20 minute fight, I didn't get a photo because it was quickly released. Here are some photos of fish from last week.

The Ice held together through the warm rain we had last week, Temperature is back down around -5c and the fishing has been great with a few fish breaking the 20" mark. Mosquito lake is only 2hrs North of Vancouver, BC and provides the public with some quality Ice for skating. When Ice fishing the lake, fish near the shore and look for structure. Mosquito lake has approximately 5" of good clear Ice. The fishing has been very good closer to shore "10'-15' of water" with lots of fish ranging 12"- 24". Fishing has been most successful using a Snapper Zapper with a piece of Shrimp. Rolled muddlers have been working for everything. Trout, coho and chum. Lower mamquam bar is pretty good.

Fishing's best first light until 11am it seems then the bite dies down. Coho are holding in slow moving water that is deeper, cast out and retrieve, consistent retrieve matters. Look for coho jumping, if you don't see them keep moving along the river.

Chum are in holding water usually before or after some rapids for rest. Swinging a fly has been producing great results and they're in water 2-6ft deep close to shore. No need to wade all the way out or they'll swim behind you!

Catch and release for all chum and wild coho, you can retain one hatchery coho per day.

Birkenhead Lake has been fishing very well, with lots of surface activity. Larger than normal Rainbow Trout have been feeding very aggressively in and around the 2 major tributaries that feed the lake " Sockeye Creek and Phelix Creek". The Kokanee have pretty well finished up spawning, but there are still a few Bulls cleaning up there mess.

This time of year fly fishing can be very fun at the mouths of these two creeks for large Rainbow Trout and Huge Bull Trout. Try using large Purple Zonkers, Lillooet Killers, Flesh Flies, egg patterns and on the Surface a Stone Fly, Tri-winged sedge, Elk hair caddis, white Wulff, blue dunn.
