Child Bed Frame has an upper bunk and beneath is a chair that can fold out into a single bed for sleepovers and it is mobile. There are also shelves underneath.

If you’re single, she would love to meet you. You are a male, not tall/not short, not lanky/not fat, slightly balding, with the biggest, kindest, most gorgeous brown eyes she’s ever seen. 2 respectful house sitters available again on Pender Island throughout the July, August, and early September 2012 summer months. Spent 5 years (2005-2010) living on Pender while volunteering with the local camp. 2 of those years we lived mostly as house sitters for local island homes. We’ve got many references from Pender Island residents that I’m sure you would probably know!

We often tag team sitting jobs since we both volunteer our time at the local camp all summer. Depending on daily schedules, one of us can make it over to feed & walk pets, etc. at regular times during the day. We’re both clean and respectful 24 yr old females. We don’t smoke, drink, party, or have animals. However, we generally love animals and are open to sitting homes with pets.

Playgroup “Everybody Welcome” Meeting

The Pender Island Playgroup Board invites all members – current, old and prospective, as well as interested supporters to a meeting Thursday May 3 from 1-3pm at the Playgroup.

The purpose of this meeting will be to better understand how our society serves the membership and community, while also examining how it might better meet our needs. One of the goals of the meeting will be to generate a prioritized list of action items to direct the Board and interested members in the coming months.

If your family is unable to attend the meeting but would like to participate in the dialogue, please email me at anna.lundeen@gmail.com or catch me in person and I will do my best to make sure you are included.

Come with your ideas, questions, enthusiasm, and an open mind. Feel free to bring a snack to share if you wish and, of course, children are totally welcome.

Interested in Hosting an ‘Intro to Biodiesel’ Presentation?

Perhaps by now you’ve heard that it’s possible to make your own biodiesel from used cooking oil, and you’re interested in learning more.

The Dreamer Propulsion Project is offering by-donation workshops in homebrew biodiesel production. If you are willing to host a workshop in your home, office, community centre or any other venue, we are willing to travel to your community (limited to Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands) to share what we know.

What we offer is a 90 minute presentation that covers:

-basics of transesterification (biodiesel production)
-how to make your own backyard biodiesel refinery with off-the-shelf hardware parts for less than $500
-how to start a biodiesel co-op with friends and neighbours to share costs and effort
-how to convert your diesel vehicle to run on straight vegetable oil
-the future of biodiesel; alternate ingredients and processes

This lecture is offered in easy to understand language. You need not be a mechanic, engineer, or chemist.

Ideally we like to present to 5 or more people and pass the hat to cover travel costs. This is simple oral presentation that can also be offered as a demonstration if you are able to supply used, dewatered and filtered vegetable oil, methanol and lye.
