It was on those days, when the toast had burnt in the morning, she had missed the bus to work, the heel on her brand new pretty patent shoes had broken…it was those days when she would reach into the memory box at the end of her bed and hold aloft a little sign that said “Be Happy Now”.

And suddenly, the sun would shine, she felt just so fine and she knew it that even when disaster struck, when she felt lost in a rut – it would always be a wonderful day…

Things are a little bit slow here at the moment.

We’ve been sick. Time has become filled with hospitals, tears and a whole lot of frustration.

But we’ve still noticed some pretty things along the way. Like these little pops of colour on a walk the other day.

And we hope to be better soon.

Get Crafty: DIY Paint Dipped Chopsticks

Being a huge fan of paint dipped anything, I couldn’t resist doing my own little paint dipped DIY.

These are super simple and very easy to make, and best of all you can use recycled wooden chopsticks to make them earth friendly too.

You can scoot over to Poppytalk for all the steps of this DIY as it is our first post as their new crafty contributor.

We are very exited to be regularly sharing our DIY ideas with the Poppytalk crew.

We have been asked by the lovely Jan at Poppytalk to be a regular DIY contributor and we couldn’t be more chuffed!

Our first DIY project will be launched this week.

Stay tuned for a very simple Sunday afternoon project that includes pops of colour, some recycled wooden things, and of course, as always with Penelope and Pip – cuteness galore.

I live in a beautiful city.

But sometimes I dream of a life in a place some ways away.

Where our home is made of bricks instead of wood.

And where the sunshine sometimes shows another season or two.

Brisbane? Melbourne? Or maybe even here?

52 Week Pattern Project #4: Inspired by a walk in the woods

Can you see the little trees in the forest of triangles?

I wanted to do something geometric this week as it seems everyone is geometric crazy at the moment! But, when I drew these triangles I thought they still needed something a little organic to make them a little less…well, triangly (pretty sure that ain’t a word!).

I really loved the little pops of colour in this one and the texture too (thank you Totally Rad!).

We might have to check back in another time on the geometric inspiration – I kinda like it.

Photo Journaling: Free Paisley Press Templates

I stumbled across the amazing work of Liz Tamanaha a while ago via her blog Paisley Press.

Liz creates journal pages for digital scrapbooking (I use to be a scrap-a-holic back in the day), and I love her beautiful minimalist designs.

This page was a freebie she very generously uploaded at her Ozscraps shop and there is even a “How To” file included so novice Photoshoppers need not fear!

You could use this design to create a page in a photo book or on your personal blog.

PS. Clare and I took these photos on a trip to the park last year. How cute is my little niece!
