What's for Sale is a local community based social network. The purpose of the app is to help users to exchange sale information. For example, we want to have a yard sale or we find some sale are worth to notice. We can share these information by simple steps with the assistance of What's for Sale.

Geographic location is also another point in What's for Sale, each listing accompanying with a GPS log. The nearby search in What's for Sale queries items according to distance. Therefore, most search results are within an amount of range with the center our location and we can also expect a possibility of that people can meet each other. Owing to the reason, What's for Sale includes a built-in message system. It allows us to contact each other and have further communication via What's for Sale.

By What's for Sale, we want to carry out a concept that people can share sale information easily by an extreme casual way on iOS devices.

After years of using Facebook, I find I have built a habit to avoid speaking certain topics in my timeline. The reason is our identities. We have to be very careful of anything related to privacy issues because of the violation can cause some unwanted consequence. For that reason, Tutti is born to solve this consideration. In Tutti, posting is anonymous. However, other users still can comment or exchange ideas through a specific topic. Besides, Tutti is also integrated with a message system, users are able to contact each other by it. Via Tutti, it allows us to anonymously share or confess what's really been in our mind and build a greater connection and gain support from others.

Mercurius - A Google Talk Client App for iOS

Some people probably would know that Google Talk is a popular service in business area because many companies adopt Google Cloud Service like Google App Engine as their business solution. For iOS platform, I was surprised that there is no official Google Talk Client App. Even in Google I/O 2013, Google claimed and released Hangouts to integrate Google Talk. The operation concept is still far away from my cognition. For example, you can't recognize which user is online or which user is offline in Google Hangouts for iOS. There is even no traditional contact list in it.

Since it's been a long time that I didn't develop any my own app after I was employed by a company, I decided to develop a Google Talk Client App to meet my need. Basically my requirement is that the App has to be light, straightforward and able to receive messages in background. Therefore, Mercurius is born according to these criteria.

Mercurius only has two views for different purpose. One is for roster list and another is for conversation. I try to avoiding to push different view pages just in order to access a certain feature. So most operations can be done in the root view which is also a roster list.

As to change profile pictures, change status or subscribe a new contact into list, just swipe to move the roster view and click the menu behind the roster view directly. In consideration of account security, Mercurius also adopts OAuth 2.0 as a way of authentication. The advantage of OAuth is that Mercurius doesn't memorize user's name and password. As some people might know, some services they store username/password in their server. Usually this kind of app would ask you to create an extra account through their activation process. Because gmail account is very important to me in many ways, I am extremely reluctant to let other services to get my username/password.

Mercurius has been on App Store and it's free now. If you are using Google Talk and also an iPhone/iPad, maybe give it a try. Cheers!!

Plurkid Tutorial: The Way How to Send Private Message to Certain User

About the way how to send private message to certain user, the way is easy and it is divided two steps.

First step: Please click the user's name to enter his public profile page.

Second step: In the public profile page, just press the right-bottom button to enter the editing page.

After sending the text, the message will be restricted only to the user in above public profile page.

WOW!! The Year 2010 is almost over. Don't know if is there anybody would still get the image files made by Alcohol 120? I just updated my another work "MISO-J", actually the previous version 1.2 was released in the Oct 2007….(Far from now, I know…Orz) Anyway, maybe I should introduce it again. MISO-J is a file appending utility which is able to convert multiple segment of image files which are groups of "xxx.mds, xxx.I00, xxx.I01, xxx.I02" or "xxx.mds, xxx.mdf, xxx.md0, xxx.md1" into one ISO image. In this newer version 1.3, I added a simple disk benchmark display and added a 64bit mode for it (64bit mode is no big deal, just owing to this one was compiled on Snow Leopard…XD)

Finally, about the operation is very easy, just drag and drop the MDS file into the table view of MISO and then click the "JOIN" button….that's it^^

A Tutorial for Plurkid Widget

The operation is very easy.

A Tutorial for Plurkid

Hi~ Guys!!
I'm very sorry it's a late tutorial. I should write this introduction earlier, but it really takes lots of time to make the App "Plurkid" more functional and smoother executing.

Plurkid is a social network App for Plurk on iOS platform. Owing to the dual post-processing of transmission, the advantage of Plurkid is that it is able to display vivid graphic content of Plurk. We can compare the followings two.

The left one: it displays inline thumbnail with dual post-processing.
The right one: it is a standard raw content of plurk.

However, in order to make the most use of the Plurkid, I still recommend to spend a little time in reading this tutorial. It will be helpful and guide us to figure out how it operates.

First, let's us know the main screen of Plurkid. The screen will be displayed when the first time we launch the Plurkid.
The upper orange part is segmented control, we can switch the type of plurk content for reading. Besides the right-lower edit icon is the function of posting new plurk. We can enter the editor view by clicking edit icon.

Second, if we would like to read the responses of certain plurk. Just click the digits numbers of each column. After entering the responses view, we can click the right-lower edit icon to reply the plurk. Or click the profile picture/nickname (left two orange circles) to reply to certain plurk user.

Third, personal profile picture in the main screen is also clickable. We can choose to enter "Mobile Plurk" mode which is for raw content display of plurk to save bandwidth under lower speed of internet, or "My Profile" to view favourite plurk/change background by right-upper flower icon, or "Logout" to switch plurk account.

Finally, let me explain a little bit of settings of Plurkid.
Input Method: We can turn Basic Mode Off to enter the advanced editor view of Plurkid. The editor mode is more complicated, each column object is able to be re-ordered and it's also support maximum four photos uploading.

User Interface: We can turn background off if we don't want to display background picture. And the lower slide bar is to control the opacity when background setting is on.
Notification: When the setting "Plurkid Buddy" is on, Plurkid will add Plurkid buddy as fan automatically. It's a notification mechanism to inform some latest news of Plurk actively.

Yeah, the latest update is optimized for iPad in 720P/1080 Profile. It takes more time to encode but quality is much better. BTW, I also fixed a bug in 2-Pass Encoding!!

Finally, I got time to address some improvments of PEnGUIn Encoder. This new edition added two-pass encoding support for x264. Users can activate it from the Preferences' setting.

Btw, the Broken DivX Encoding is fixed too. Just noticed that problem days ago. Maybe fewer and fewer users use DivX encoding as Intel Inside Mac is getting more and more popular.

So please take a look of the recent update in the download section of right column.

The Closed Caption is a preliminary support in the PEnGUIn Encoder 0.98b7. Actually I only tested it with the recording of EyeTV 3, because I only have one device Huppage WinTV‐HVR‐950. However in theory, PEnGUIn Encoder should be able to support most mpeg2 format/TS format with closed caption.

Please get the file from download section of right side.

The operation is the same as usual.

Hi, there~
Added 720P default profile in this b2 version, and iPhone profiles are changed to 480x272x30fps/480x360x30fps (16:9 & 4:3).
For some subtitles errors, suggest to use the software subcleaner to repair subtitle files first. To me, it solved lots encoding error!!!

PEnGUIn Encoder M4V 0.98b1 is almost the same to the PEnGUIn Encoder MP4 0.98b2 in operation basically. The different part is the subtitle support. PEnGUIn Encoder M4V 0.98b1 can encode "soft subtitle" now. It means that users can switch On/Off subtitle in the application such as iTunes, Quicktime or Devices such as iPod Touch, iPhone, AppleTV.

PEnGUIn Encoder M4V 0.98b1 is the first public release, please give it a trial^^ Enjoy!!

Don't know if there are many users still using irshell. To me, it's been a long time that I didn't trace the update of it. Recently, according to users reply, just know that ther version of irshell > 4.7 have to be with newer version of nethostfs 2.1. Thus I added this alpha release of PEnGUIn HostFS and only tested with Intel Mac, for PPC, might work or not, wish someone can test it >_<
