Umbrella’s and sneakers in January? That’s Erie, PA for you! Even though the weather was less than desirable we made the most of their e-session while they were home on Christmas break. These two are so in love and so cute together that they would have looked great anywhere! We started at a really unique location with painted buildings and ended up in the walkway between the BayFront Convention Center and The Sheraton Hotel.

Hali also made and brought her own little chalkboard sign to include their names and wedding date. What a great idea for save-the-dates!

We are really looking forward to their upcoming June wedding at Lawrence Park Golf Club. Thanks for the fun guys!

First off I’d like to say HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of our family, friends, and awesome clients! Our 2011 was challenging but great and we are looking forward to what 2012 will bring.

I’d also like to say CONGRATS to all the couples who are celebrating your recent engagement! We have only a few dates left for 2012 so don’t wait to contact us!

So, I’m finally finding the time to post about one of our favorite weddings ever! We could not have asked for a better way to end our 2011 wedding season! Melissa and Jim pulled out all the stops from the dress down to the decorations. Their colors were black, purple, and glitter! Melissa created mostly everything herself and we were really impressed with how she incorporated the colors, the glitz, and tiaras. Everything was perfect!

The ceremony at the exquisite St. Peter’s Cathedral in downtown Erie was the start of the awesomeness. The ambiance in that church is just fantastic to shoot in and we really enjoyed capturing the entire surroundings and celebration.

After the wedding vows the bride & groom left us plenty of time to visit a few locations for some super fun pictures. I absolutely love couples who are up for not-your-average backdrops and a different look. We had a great time playing on some train tracks at Union Station, moved on to a graffiti wall [done by some amazing artists!], and then we stopped at Frontier Park for pictures with the fall leaves.

This was possibly my favorite part of the day! Anyone who knows me knows I have a love for butterflies. We released monarch at our own wedding 6 years ago. This was the second time this year that we were graced by these beautiful creature. Check out Kim & Brian’s engagement pictures at Goodell Gardens for more butterfly pics.

The reception at The Avalon Hotel was spectacular! The decorations and table settings were great and DJ Posey’s up-lighting made everything come together. Reception pictures have so much dimension when there is extra low light in the room and we loved it!

I have seen candy bars before but this one “takes the cake”. Melissa put the entire thing together herself. Nice job girl!

The bride & groom’s 2 year old daughter was the cutest flower girl ever! Every time I pointed the camera at her she was ready with a big smile to go along with her pretty blue eyes.

We had such a blast at this wedding and ended up staying until the very end. Our favorite part of the job is meeting awesome people an the friendships we make. Melissa and Jim are the exact type of people we love to work with and we are so grateful for meeting them. We wish you the very best in your marriage and best wishes for your family!

On the day of Kina and Josh’s country club wedding it was sweltering hot out! We had a hard time figuring how to dress to be the most comfortable to shoot all day in the high 80 degree temperature heat. I can’t imagine how the bridal party felt in formal dresses and tuxes! But we all survived and the wedding was beautiful!

The ceremony and reception all took place at the Riverside Golf Club in Cambridge Springs, PA. The setting was perfect for a ceremony right on the greens in front of a unique door/archway with a pond and  fountain as the backdrop. The staff was wonderful to work with and even provided the entire bridal party (including us!) personal golf carts to use. We had a lot of fun with that and were able to travel all over the grounds for picture locations.

One of our favorite details of the day were the bride and groom’s puppy dogs. It was so cute to see their yellow labs all decked out in a tux and tutu! I also loved the use of peacock feathers included in their theme. Very nice touch. The bride, groom, and their party looked spectacular. And the flower girls were the cutest ones yet!  These are just a few of our favorites from the day…

This one was one of the best E-Sessions I’ve ever done! Why? Because of this super HOT couple, the beautiful scenery, and we got to play with a LIVE butterfly!

Kim & Brian requested the beautiful Goodell Gardens nestled in downtown Edinboro, PA. This picturesque location was perfect for this gorgeous, outdoorsy couple. Their cowboy boots and Kim’s cute sundress were a great choice for outfits for the day. We had a wonderful time playing with all of the beautiful flowers, barns, benches, and even a corn field!

My favorite part of this day was when a friend of mine [that works there] came out with a freshly emerged monarch that was ready to be released. She asked if we wanted to include her in the pictures. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! YES! Anyone who’s been around me for awhile knows of my love for butterflies. She carefully placed this one on my future bride’s hand and she stayed there for a few shots before she was ready to start her long journey to Mexico. What a cool experience!

I had so much fun with these two kids and can’t wait for their August 2012 wedding!

So I just realized that I haven’t posted the entire summer! We have been crazy busy with wedding pictures, music festivals, camping, and much more! It’s hard to find time to do much of anything extra! My plan is to play catch up in the next few weeks and post some of latest photo shoots and happenings.

This week I attended a wedding photography business seminar with award winning photographer Sal Cincotta. Wow, I learned so much and returned with a few freebies! One of the things I came away with was a wonderful program to create video slideshows so of course I had to try it out with a recent engagement shoot! This was a trial run so it’s short and sweet but shows their love.

A couple after my own heart. Kate & Justen have an earthy wedding planned for June 2012 that’s centered around the Tree of Life. What would be more appropriate than an engagement session set in the natural landscape of Wintergreen Gorge in Erie, PA? Later we stopped at the famous Nittany Lion on the Penn State Behrend campus to show spirit to their alma mater. These two met at college and have a deep history with this school. Glad we could capture that for you guys!

It was always been a little dream for my mom and I to make it to the Sea World in San Diego. We’ve been to the other 3 in Ohio, Orlando, and San Antonio and now finally made it to Cali! When I grew up we went to the Ohio Sea World every summer and now we were able take our own kids. We also got to spent the time there with our friends and their 5 kids! So much fun!

We met up with a pro-photographer friend of ours that took a few family shots for us.  Are we a family of clue eyes or what?!

Wouldn’t you love to get married here?! This is a Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints in La Jolla, San Diego, CA.

This church is gorgeous and there was a wedding party being photographed while we were visiting. Jealous!

Who’s ready to get out of the house and enjoy the fresh air?! Me! Me! If you’re anything like me you have been suffering from a bit of cabin fever lately. (it’s way worse as a mom I think.) I used to love winter and the snow but that was when I had the time and energy to hit the slopes as often as I want. Life just doesn’t allow that anymore. So I am thoroughly ready to open the windows, hear the birds chirping, and enjoy the warm air.

Every year there are weddings that stand out as our favorites.  This past year there were several we want to feature like  Dawn & Doug, Charlie & Julie, and Emily & Mark. (Emily and Mark are expecting their first baby and we are very excited for them!) Our absolute favorite wedding this year was Megan & Nick‘s classy ceremony and reception in downtown Warren, PA. This cute couple along with their great locations, wonderful families, and unique reception made this one the highlight of our year. We had a wonderful day! So, I thought I would use my favorite shots from their day for my first attempt at a video slideshow. Let me know what you think!

There have also been some talks of a possible Special Mini-Session Day in the last weekend or two of  May this year. We have a couple open weekends and many of our friends have been asking me to take family and children portraits. We came up with the idea of shooting everyone  in the same day at the same location in mini time-slots. The plans are in the works and we will announce the date & location as soon as the details are ironed out. We are thinking of an outdoor location in the Erie, Edinboro, or Mckean area. What would you prefer? Any suggested places?
