As a business owner you know sometimes the process of hiring and firing can feel like a revolving door, what you may not realize is that having high turnover can also affect your unemployment tax rate if it is not managed properly.

Employers can have their unemployment rates rise in direct proportion to unemployment claims of terminated employees. In other words if your business has a high amount of employee turnover, typically you can expect to pay a higher unemployment tax rate. Unemployment tax rates will also fluctuate based on company payroll and unemployment benefits charged against your company.

Some people have been heard saying they “like being able to fire people”, next week some of those same people may be heard saying they like to start people on fire…. who knows why people say what they say.

Seriously, does anyone really “LIKE” to fire people? I mean, nobody could really “LIKE” to fire people could they… well I’m sure there are a few individuals that truly do like to fire people, but my belief is that the majority of us would just prefer, and wish people provide the level of service that we expect, that way we’re happy and the individual can stay employed a while longer.

I’m back… and I’m excited about 2012.

So I took a short sabbatical over the holidays, I hope everyone had a fabulous Holiday Season, I certainly did… but I’m back and I’m more committed than I’ve ever been to building recognition of the PEO – Professional Employer Organization Industry.

The conversations I’ve had with others in the industry would indicate that we are positioned for a banner year.

Here’s my message, if you are a small to medium business, you need to be using the services of a quality PEO, HRO, or ASO. If you are a business owner, for you to be spending you time dealing with employment rather than focusing on your business, its time to make a change and find yourself a PEO, focus on your business, and have a outstanding 2012.

As always, if you are in the PEO Industry, and have a positive message, article, story, email me at blog@peo.com and we’ll share it with the world.
