Officials from the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office are working with Animal Control Officers to find out who horribly abused an animal found a few weeks ago.

According to WTKR, a dog named Huggies was sexually abused with a broom handle.

She was found running loose on April 29 and brought to the Isle of Wight Animal Shelter.

Huggles was medically screened and seen by a local vet who determined the animal needed serious medical care. The vet was able to spay the dog without any complications.

A few days later, the dog’s condition started to decline at a beagle rescue center. She became lethargic and experienced mysterious bleeding.

Vets thought she was experiencing complications from being spayed and treated her for an infection, but the condition only got worse.

During exploratory surgery, they found a 3-3.5 inch plastic end to a broom handle had been inserted into Huggles. The item was removed and the dog is now recovering from the disturbing abuse.

PETA has offered a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible for the heinous act.

PETA Senior Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch released an official statement:

Someone knows the person or persons who sexually abused and tortured this dog with a broom handle, leaving her to suffer in pain for weeks. PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for this dog’s suffering and urges anyone with information about this case to come forward immediately before the perpetrator acts again.

WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — People who found a dog starving on the streets of Woodbury, CT called Animal Control. Officer Judy Omstead responded and was shocked.“I was very shocked at his health,” said Omstead. “He was skin and bones, totally emaciated. There was no medical reason for him being as skinny as he was.”

Omstead called police and got Rudy to a doctor right away.

“They tested him, they did x-rays, blood work, everything and discovered that he — it was just pure starvation,” said Omstead.

Lockhart-Howard hasn’t had Rudy for a long time. She adopted him from the Connecticut Humane Society in November.

“We just want everyone to know that it’s unacceptable to have a dog in that condition,” said Omstead. “There’s no reason for that.”

News 8 tried to contact Lockhart-Howard, but no one answered the door at her house.

The Connecticut Humane Society does not have strict rules or requirements when it comes to placing animals with pet owners. They do meet with people looking to adopt pets to determine if they would be a good fit for the animal and to see if they would be able to provide them with a safe, loving home.

“What their lifestyle is like, we do counsel with them so we ask them some general questions and we really get one-on-one with them,” said Theresa Geary, Director of Operations with the Connecticut Humane Society. “We’re really looking to get to know these folks as best we can. We don’t have any hard and fast rules.”

Geary says last year, nearly 5,000 animals were adopted at the Connecticut Humane Society’s 3 locations and most of the adoptions are successful ones. But, a situation like what happened to Rudy could cause them to re-examine things — like, perhaps giving their decision-making process more scrutiny.

“It’s sad to us,” Geary said. “We’re sorry that the animal went through that. What we’re grateful for is our animal control officers who came through and rescued the dog. Nobody at the Connecticut Humane Society wants an animal to be put in an uncomfortable or awful situation.”

Rudy is now with another family. We’re told he’s in much better health.

David Desper, 28, is charged with first- and third-degree murder, possession of an instrument of crime and reckless endangering, after  a road rage incident ended in Murder according to Philadelphia ABC affiliate WPVI. He surrendered to authorities around 2 a.m. Sunday, ending a three-state manhunt.

The shooting occurred during rush hour on Wednesday, as Bianca Nikol Roberson was returning home from a shopping trip for college clothes.

The teen and another driver started to merge into the same lane, “jostling for the position” on Route 100 in West Goshen Township, more than 30 miles from Philadelphia, said Michael Noone, first assistant district attorney for the Chester County District Attorney’s Office. Roberson’s vehicle veered from the roadway and crashed into a tree, police said in a statement.

But the officers who responded to the crash soon determined that the teen had been shot in the head, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was nowhere to be found.

“We’re doing everything we can to catch this suspect and bring him to justice,” Noone told The Washington Post on Friday.

West Goshen Township is at the southeastern tip of Pennsylvania, near the border with Delaware and New Jersey, so authorities searched for the suspect — described in initial reports as a white man between 30 and 40 years old in a red pickup truck — in three states.

The truck was last seen exiting Route 202 onto Paoli Pike.

Roberson had graduated from Bayard Rustin High School in West Chester, Pa., and was set to attend Jacksonville University. She had hoped to one day work for the FBI, according to WPVI.

“She was a good girl, honor roll student, looking forward to going to college,” her father, Rodney Roberson, told the news station.

He pleaded with the other driver to help close his daughter’s case.

“If you don’t even think it was your fault, and have a conscience, come forward and give us some closure and explain in your own words what happened,” he said, according to the news station.

While speaking to reporters on Thursday, Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan also directly addressed the other driver.

“To that man who fired that shot, turn yourself in now,” Hogan said. “Every second you are out there, you are only making this worse for yourself and making this worse for this young lady’s family.”

EVERETT, Wash. — Police and firefighters were called Tuesday morning to Coastal Community Bank on 19th Ave SE for the report of a fire.

When they arrived, crews found the drive-up ATM had been set on fire.

Aaron Snell with the Everett Police Department said the suspects used a blowtorch to try and access the ATM’s cash box.

In the process of doing so, they accidentally set the money on fire.

John Dickson, Chief Operations Officers of Coastal Community Bank, said the suspects were not able to get away with any money. He told Q13 News that masked men tried to break into the bank’s cash deposit box just a few weeks ago.

Dickson bank said the bank will be providing surveillance video of the incident to Everett police.

The Everett Police Department issued these surveillance photos and video of the suspects. Police said one of the suspects is Jason Kovar, 31, of Everett. Eli Steen, who was originally named as a suspect, was cleared by police Friday.

Around 5:45 a.m., witnesses driving southbound on State Road 14 near Newhall Avenue in Santa Clarita, California, filmed an road rage altercation between the motorcyclist and the driver of a silver sedan, according to California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Joshua Greengard.

In the video, the motorcyclist appears to try to kick the sedan on the right. In response, the sedan veers to the left and briefly collides with the motorcyclist before losing control and crashing into the highway divider wall.

The momentum from the crash sent the sedan toward the middle lane of the highway, where it collided with a white Cadillac pickup truck, causing the truck to overturn.

The driver of the truck suffered “moderate” injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Greengard said. The driver of the sedan stayed on the scene and was not issued a citation, Greengard said.

After the collision, the motorcyclist continued driving southbound and did not stop Greengard said, adding that police are actively following leads that may reveal his or her identity.

The incident is still under investigation, Greengard said.

The witness who took the video, 47-year-old Santa Clarita Valley resident Chris Traber, said he was on his way to work when he saw the incident.

Traber, who works for a local power company, was riding in the passenger seat when he noticed the motorcyclist pass them in the fast lane, he told ABC News.

About 100 yards ahead, Traber said he saw the silver sedan, which was in the carpool lane, swerve to the right to enter the fast lane, almost hitting the motorcyclist.

“Obviously, it really scared the motorcyclist,” Traber said, adding that he could tell by their hand gestures that the two motorists were then engaged in a heated argument.

Traber knew he should start recording when he saw the motorcyclist kick the sedan’s passenger side door, he said.

“Hey, something is gonna happen here,” Traber said he thought to himself.

By the time Traber began recording, the motorcyclist had driven to the other side of the sedan and kicked the door on the driver’s side, Traber said.

After the crash, Traber called 911and he and his partner stayed on the scene until first responders arrived. Another witness pulled the driver of the overturned pickup truck out of the vehicle, Traber said.

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. -An assistant prosecutor called the Sept. 29, 2016 incident a “savage attack” that went on for several minutes. He asked jurors to find 19-year-old Christian Hillman guilty of second-degree murder.

Hillman’s defense team called the incident a tragedy, but said the teen was assaulted and, overcome with emotion, beat William McFarlan along Whitneyville Avenue SE. They asked jurors to consider the lesser offense of voluntary manslaughter, which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

Hillman, who turned 19 in March, will return to Kent County Circuit Court for sentencing on July 24th. He is facing up to life in prison.

Kent County Assistant Prosecutor Blair Lachman said he was pleased with the verdict.

“Anytime you have a second-degree murder case, it’s an emotional case for both sides,” he said. “I feel for the families on both sides of the case, but we’re very pleased. We think a just outcome came.’’

He said the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter was inappropriate given the overwhelming evidence against Hillman, including eyewitness accounts that he kicked McFarlan several times after McFarlan collapsed beside his pickup truck.

“I think just because someone gets angry in a road rage incident, it doesn’t justify assaulting and killing a man,” Lachman said. “I think if they came back with manslaughter, the excuse for people would be we can handle these situations violently; it shouldn’t be that message.’’

Attorneys for Hillman declined comment.

McFarlan, a retiree from General Motors, died nearly five weeks after the beating in southern Kent County. He suffered several fractured ribs, broken facial bones and a fractured skull. Emergency room doctors gave him little chance of survival.

Hillman was initially charged with assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder, a 10-year felony. The charge was upgraded after McFarlan’s  death on Oct. 31.

According to testimony, Hillman was riding a dirt bike after sunset along Whitneyville. McFarlan was returning from a fishing trip. McFarlan’s pickup was behind Hillman; the driver began flashing his bright lights and sounding the horn.

Hillman pulled into a church parking lot; McFarlan followed, defense attorney Michael Bartish said.

“Whatever happened, Mr. McFarlan is following Christian into that parking lot,” Bartish told jurors in closing arguments on Thursday. “There is no reason for that vehicle to have followed him into that parking lot unless the intent was for a fight.’’

Bartish said voluntary manslaughter is proper because the fight happened in the heat of passion, was caused by adequate provocation and there wasn’t adequate time for Hillman to cool off.

Lachman, the Kent County assistant prosecutor, said Hillman continued the attack on McFarlan long after McFarlan fell to the ground.

“What takes place after the man is unconscious alone is second-degree murder,” he told jurors during closing arguments.  “He’s kicking him in the head with a steel-toe boot after he’s unconscious and lying in his own pool of blood. Second-degree murder? There is no question.’’

Hillman previously said he defended himself when McFarlan grabbed his neck.

A former nurse who prosecutors believe could be responsible in the deaths of up to 60 Texas children has been indicted on two new murder charges.

The Bexar County district attorney’s office said in a statement that Genene Jones, 66, was indicted Thursday in the deaths of 8-month-old Ricky Nelson in 1981 and 4-month-old Patrick Zavala a year later. She now faces four new murder charges, all filed in about the last month. Last week, she was indicted on a murder count in the 1981 death of Rosemary Vega, and she was indicted on a murder count last month in the 1981 death of 11-month-old Joshua Sawyer.

Jones is serving concurrent 99-year and 60-year sentences in state prison for the 1982 killing of another toddler and the sickening of a 4-week-old boy who survived. She was scheduled for release in March under a mandatory release law in place when she was convicted, but District Attorney Nico LaHood has previously said he’s trying to ensure she never leaves prison because she’s linked to the deaths of many more children who died in the early 1980s either during her shifts or shortly after.

“I believe that she should take her last breath from behind bars. And that is our intent,” LaHood said at a Thursday news conference.

LaHood has said the latest indictments were prompted by new evidence and the re-examining of decades-old evidence.

“Justice demands for all of these innocent children’s deaths to be investigated and accounted for,” he said. “We will continue to follow the evidence wherever it leads us and work diligently to account for every child whose life was stolen at the hands of Jones. This remains an open and continuous investigation.”

That investigation aims to build cases to support indictments “for as many deaths as the evidence can prove,” LaHood said.

Prosecutors said the fresh material they’ve reviewed includes a 2011 letter from Jones to the Texas Board of Nursing in which she apologizes “for the damage I did to all because of my crime.” In the letter, obtained by Texas Monthly and ProPublica for a joint report published Thursday, Jones said she “was not of sound mind” and looks back on her actions as “heinous.”

Jones, whose case has been chronicled in two books, a TV movie and numerous articles, had previously maintained her innocence. It’s not clear if she has an attorney to address the most recent allegations against her.

During Jones’ time working at a San Antonio hospital and a clinic in Kerrville, northwest of San Antonio, children died of unexplained seizures and other complications.

Prosecutors at Jones’ 1984 murder trial said the nurse lethally injected children at the Kerrville clinic to demonstrate the need for a pediatric intensive care unit at a nearby hospital.

Other prosecutors theorized that Jones’ tactic was to take swift medical action and save some of her victims, making herself appear to be a sort of miracle worker.

It’s not clear why Jones’ actions, involving so many suspected victims, were not detected earlier. But Sam Millsap, a previous district attorney in Bexar County, told KSAT-TV in 2013 that medical records at the San Antonio hospital at one point were accidently destroyed, hampering efforts by investigators to prove their suspicions.

BOULDER, Colo. — The victim told officers with the Boulder Police Department it happened Sunday afternoon.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s, about 5-foot-11 to 6-foot with a thin build and trimmed facial hair.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing salmon-colored swim trunks and had two children with him.

Police also say it was reported the suspect was doing handstands and flips in the water, going down the water slide and might have had a bloody nose.

Law enforcement sources and the Mansfield victim’s parents say Taymor Travon McIntyre, known locally as the rapper Tay-K 47, is now a suspect in a murder in San Antonio.

He has not been captured as of Wednesday.

The U.S. Marshals office released pictures of McIntyre on Monday, calling him a “violent fugitive” and asking for the public’s help in locating the teen, who is thought to be in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Authorities refused to disclose details about the capital murder for which he is wanted.

The Star-Telegram, however, has learned that McIntyre had been one of seven people charged in connection with the July 26, 2016, robbery and slaying of 21-year-old Ethan Walker.

Walker’s parents, Roberta and Richard Walker, said certification hearings were about to be held for McIntyre and another juvenile suspect in the case when the two teens boys cut off their ankle monitors in late March and reportedly fled together to San Antonio.

On March 27 — the day they reportedly fled — a tweet on McIntyre’s Twitter page states: “(Expletive) dis house arrest (expletive) (Expletive) 12 they gn have 2 catch me on hood.”

The Walkers said they’ve since been told — and law enforcement sources have confirmed to the Star-Telegram — that both teens are now suspects in a separate murder case in San Antonio.

San Antonio police officials did not return a message from the Star-Telegram seeking confirmation and details about their case.

The second teen was recaptured about a month ago, the Walkers say, and remains in juvenile custody.

McIntyre didn’t turn 17 until June 16, which is why he is still in the juvenile system.

Roberta Walker said she’s angry, but not surprised.

“The fact that they cut off their monitors was no big surprise at all. It was kind of surprising that it took them so long, actually,” Roberta Walker said.
