In the age of 'make do and mend' it is not unsual to repurpose and refurbish our homewares.

It is in fact a trend which is altogether environmentally friendly, economical and saves us the little heart break of disposing of dear old items of furniture and personals {I do, like most nostalgic people, attach sentiment to 'things' and those are the things I carry with me in both my heart and my cart!}.

Renovate with a splash of colour by painting, add patterns with decoupage, add texture when covered with a cool wallpaper, and interest with stencils or even stickers...

here are a few excellent ideas on how to spruce up an old dresser and give it some new life, a new location, new purpose...keep the furniture but move on with times, growing families and living priorities.

Pick a beautiful flower, maybe your Mum's favourite, and wrap a message around it {washi tape is ideal for this!}.

Beauty and Love always come in the simplest of packages.

And you don't have to stop with Mother's day, this is also a great trick for any other day of the year!

If you're looking for a great idea for a Mother's day card, then this is it!

You will need to be inventive and make a pocket shaped card {you get to pick ypur favourite colours and patterns!}.

Write your message on a ballon and deflate it.

Tuck it inside the card and your unsuspecting Mum will have to blow the balloon to reveal the message in its full glory!

It comes from Cyprus and enchants us with every item.

Lilymoon's store is one of my favourites on Etsy, and it has been for a long time.

I'm sure you will fall in love with it too...how can you not?!

Please take a look at some of the few things she makes and visit the shop {here} for some more mesmerizing and intricate details, soothing colours and magical strokes {and birds!}.

...and my personal favourite has to be this Lily Paper Doll postcard which you can cut around and make it a 2D little companion....oh, I want one asap!
