Faculty of Engineering, faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science, Faculy of Dental, Faculty of Wetnary, faculty of Agriculture & the Faculty of Arts

Instead of the acedemic programmes at the faculties the university conduct the external degree programmes & the Post Graduate programmes.

All the faculties are extensively utilised for the conducting acedemic programmes with theirown libraries with a good collection of books & also there is a large main library for all the students in the uni.

All the faculties have Computer centers while there is well facilitated IT center.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

FACILITIES

The University of Peradeniya has extensive facilities for the students for studies as well as for the other activities.

Hall of Residence - This is the largest residential university , & the students are provided with living accommodation during most of their stay at the uni.There are 13 hall for male students, 7 for female students & 2 for bhikkus.

Sports Facilities - It has a large gymnasium for indoor sport activities.An large area as large as 1600 square feet with Parquet floor is available for badminton, basketball, netball & volleyball.There is an international standard(50 meters) swimming pool.There are seperate grounds for track & field athletic activities.

Theatres - There is the E.O.E Perera Theatre at the faculty of Engineering , & the Hettiarachchi Theatre & the Kannangara Theatre at faculty of Arts. Drama festivals , music concerts , & internationally acclaimed films are also shown there.Nationally acclaimed plays are performed at the Sarathchandra Open Air Theatre(known as "Wala").

Health Services - The health care of the campus community ,staff & students , is provided by a team of Medical Officers & their supporting staff at the university Heslth Centre.it is situated on the campus close to Sangamiththa hall.

Places of Worship - Each religious community has its own place of worship within the University premises.There is a Buddhist Temple, a Hindu Kovil, a Catholic church, a Christian church, & a mosque situated among the beautiful hills of the University park.Religious activities are organized on campus-wide basis.

WONDERS

From the ancient times this historical university has wonderful things.So they were introduced as WONDERS of the uni.There are seven wonders in the university premises.

Akbar Corridor - In the Engineering faculty there is a very long corridor. The miracle in that is ,when two people who knows eachother are standing at the two ends noone can recognize them.

Akbar bridge - This was created in 18th century by British Governers & this connect the Engineering faculty with the other faculties.It is not connected in the two ends & only connected from the middle.

Kadolana tree - This is the Kadolana tree which is situated from the heighest of the sea level.
Sarathchandra Open Air Theatre - When some event is performing on this theatre all the university students can gather this memorable place together, as it is very large to seat over eight thousand people.

Runnerway of Charcoal - This is the one & only runnerway of charcoal in Asia.

Wiring system - The wiring system in the uni is underground. Although it's no longer a wonder for today.But at the time that wiring system is created for the university it had been a wonder.

Senat building - In this building there are thousands of stone pilers which holds the building.
