Pintado nas cores do VA-76 Spirits, este A-4C representa uma aeronave baseada no USS Independence (CVA-62) entre 1968 e 1969. Adoro esse avião desde pequeno. Fiz dois perfis dessa aeronave, uma da Varig, em uma pintura de 1981, e outro da Transbrasil, de 1981. Na época, A Transbrasil pintou as aeronaves com as cores do seu arco-iris. Cada uma contou com uma cor do emblema da empresa. Representei aqui a versão pintada em vermelho. Voando em praticamente todos os teatros de operações em que os Aliados estiveram envolvidos durante a guerra contra o Reich, o C-47 ficou famoso por uma ação ímpar, realizada em meados de 1944 - a Invasão da Normandia, a operação Overlord, ou, como é mais conhecido, o "Dia D".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Estes bravos aviões foram responsáveis por levar os pára-quedistas aliados lançados além das linhas inimigas no escuro da noite de 06 de junho de 1944. Trata-se de um F-5F Tiger II do esquadrão de Adversários da USN VFC-13 "Saint Adversary". Foi um bombardeiro robusto e que marcou a história da vitória Aliada durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Porém, quando conheci a história de um Liberator em especial, minha admiração por esse bombardeiro se tornou ainda maior.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Confira abaixo um resumo de uma pesquisa que fiz sobre esse que talvez tenha sido o mais famoso B-24 a participar da Segunda Guerra Mundial - o "Lady be Good". O perfil que acompanha o texto é um dos primeiros que fiz, lá em 2002. Se não me engano, foi meu terceiro perfil colorido e o acabamento não me deixa mentir.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Lady be Good&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ao decolar da Base Aérea de Soluch, na Líbia, norte da África em 4 de abril de 1943, o B-24D Liberator apelidado de “Lady be Good” (s/n 41-24301) partiu para uma missão rotineira de ataque ao movimentado porto de Nápoles, na Itália.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Com nove jovens tripulantes à bordo e após algumas horas de vôo, o bombardeiro foi instruído a voltar à sua base. A visibilidade sobre Nápoles impedia a realização da missão. No regresso, o “Lady be Good” perdeu o rumo de Soluch e caiu no deserto do Saara, no sul da Líbia, por falta de combustível e após várias horas de vôo sem encontrar a base. O avião ficou desaparecido por vários anos e as autoridades norte-americanas acreditavam que o B-24D tivesse caído no Mar Mediterrâneo.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Em 1959, os destroços do “Lady be Good” foram encontrados em pleno deserto, incrivelmente preservados pelo ambiente árido. Os corpos de oito tripulantes foram descobertos a vários quilômetros do local da queda.
