If you’ve ever admired a flawless vehicle wrap, bold fleet graphics, or sharp sign, what you’re seeing is more than great design and expert installation—it’s the result of a production team working behind the scenes with precision, strategy, and craftsmanship long before vinyl ever reaches the vehicle.

At Performance Signs, our production department is where ideas become reality. Every panel printed, every graphic finished, and every detail prepared is carefully executed by a team that combines technical expertise with thoughtful stewardship to ensure every wrap not only looks incredible but performs at the highest level.

Meet the Production Team Behind Every Finished Product

Every exceptional wrap begins in production, where materials, machines, and craftsmanship come together to create the foundation for success.

Leading the department is Jon Herring, our production lead and in-house print specialist. As a 3M Certified Installer, Jon brings a unique installer’s perspective to the print process—understanding not just how graphics should look on screen, but how they must function in real-world installation. His expertise allows him to strategically nest wrap prints for the most visually appealing finished product while also maximizing material efficiency. That thoughtful stewardship helps reduce waste, control costs, and pass valuable savings directly along to our clients without compromising quality.

Working alongside Jon is Ken Morris, our lead graphics finisher, whose craftsmanship ensures every printed piece is transformed into install-ready perfection. Ken’s attention to detail in trimming, laminating, organizing, and finishing plays a critical role in delivering polished graphics that meet Performance Signs’ exacting standards.

Supporting Ken is his son, Nate Morris, who works side by side with him in graphics finishing and production support. Together, they help maintain the pace, consistency, and precision required to keep projects moving smoothly from print to install.

Molly Thomas and Darren Good are also key players in production, stepping up and in to operate the vinyl plotters with accuracy and efficiency. Their versatility helps keep workflows moving, ensuring cut vinyl, decals, lettering, and specialty graphics are prepared on time and to spec. Denver Martinez and Gabe Morris are always at the ready to help with plotter cut weeding too.

Inside Production: Where Strategy Meets Craftsmanship

Step into our production area, and you’ll quickly see that it’s more than printers and plotters—it’s a carefully coordinated operation where multiple projects are moving simultaneously.

From full commercial wraps and fleet graphics to decals, signage components, and specialty vinyl applications, the production team often manages numerous active jobs at once. Each project requires careful planning, color accuracy, material selection, finishing precision, and scheduling coordination.

Jon’s print layouts are built with both beauty and practicality in mind—ensuring graphics align properly during installation while optimizing every inch of material. Ken and Nate’s finishing process ensures each printed panel is laminated, trimmed, labeled, and organized for seamless execution by the install team.

This level of organization doesn’t just improve efficiency—it protects timelines, minimizes waste, and reinforces the consistent quality clients have come to expect from Performance Signs.

Precision Before Installation: Why Production Matters

A successful wrap install starts long before the first panel touches a vehicle. Production is where potential problems are prevented, quality is protected, and project success is built.

Color consistency, proper lamination, clean cuts, accurate paneling, and organized packaging all play a direct role in installation speed and final appearance. Because of the production team’s diligence, installers can focus on flawless application rather than correcting preventable issues.

From plotting intricate vinyl graphics to preparing oversized wrap panels, this team ensures every piece leaving production is installation-ready and crafted for excellence.

Stewardship, Skill, and Shared Pride

At Performance Signs, production is about more than printing graphics—it’s about combining skill, strategy, and stewardship to serve clients well.

Before a wrap turns heads on the road, before signage captures attention, and before branding makes an impression, our production team has already laid the groundwork for people to connect.

If you’ve ever admired a crisp, clean vehicle wrap cruising down the road or seen flawless branding applied to a fleet parked outside a business, you’ve witnessed the craftsmanship of a skilled installation team. At Performance Signs, that work is led by a crew whose expertise, precision, and pride turn every design into a polished final product—whether it’s completed in our bustling installation bay or on the road at an off-site location.

Meet the Install Team Behind Every Impressive Wrap

Every great wrap starts with an experienced installer, and our team is stacked with some of the best in the industry.

At the helm is Darren Good, our lead installer and a 3M Certified Installer whose technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities make even the most complex wraps look effortless. Working alongside him is Jonny Dunnivan, also 3M Certified, known for his attention to detail and consistent, reliable execution. Rounding out our certified install crew is Jake Anderegg, an Avery Certified Installer, whose versatility and craftsmanship shine in both standard and specialty projects.

Supporting the team—and playing a critical role in the finished result—are Denver Martinez and Gabe Morris, who handle vehicle prep. From cleaning and decontaminating surfaces to disassembling components for seamless installations, their prep work sets the stage for the installers’ success. Without strong prep, great installation isn’t possible, and Denver and Gabe ensure every project starts with a perfect foundation.

Inside the Bay: Up to 10 Projects in Motion

Step into our installation bay on any given day, and you’ll find a fast-moving, well-orchestrated environment with as many as ten projects in progress at once. Some vehicles are being fully wrapped from bumper to bumper. Others may be receiving partial wraps, decals, spot graphics, or finishing touches before delivery.

Because our team is efficient and well-coordinated, partial wraps are often completed in just one day, ensuring minimal downtime for customers. Full wraps, depending on complexity, typically take three to five days, allowing our installers enough time to achieve the level of quality Performance Signs is known for.

Despite the fast pace, the vibe is calm, controlled, and professional—every project has a plan, every installer knows their role, and every vehicle receives the same high level of care. The bay team also keeps the energy high with their own diverse selection of music, a soundtrack they proudly curate together each day.

Beyond the Bay: Professional Off-Site Installs

Not all installations happen at our shop. Many clients need their graphics applied directly at their business or at a fleet parking location—and our team is equipped and ready for those jobs too.

Whether it’s a box truck parked in a gravel lot, a lineup of fleet vehicles at a job site, or specialty equipment that can’t easily be transported, Darren, Jonny, and Jake bring the same expertise off site that they apply in the bay. With mobile tools and certified installation methods, they ensure the wrap quality remains consistent no matter where the project takes place.

Off-site installs require adaptability and problem-solving—working around weather, uneven surfaces, or limited space—but for our team, it’s just another part of delivering excellence.

From Prep to Completion—It’s All About Precision and Pride

Every wrap that leaves Performance Signs represents hours of prep, careful alignment, proper material handling, and the craftsmanship of certified installers. Whether it’s in our busy bay or on location for a client, the goal is the same: clean lines, smooth finishes, and long-lasting results.

Our install team doesn’t just apply vinyl—they bring designs to life that connect people.

Every successful company has that one person who sees solutions long before anyone else can even define the problem. At Performance Signs, that person is Tommy Darnell, our Innovation Specialist, and the steady, inventive mind behind some of our toughest challenges. Long before he joined the Performance Signs team, Tommy Darnell was already part of our story. As the owner of a gutter business, Tommy was one of Robbie’s very first clients, trusting him with vehicle lettering and branding in those early days.

A Specialist in Problem-Solving

Tommy’s role is built around ingenuity. When a situation arises that leaves others scratching their heads, he steps in with a calm confidence and a talent for creative thinking. Whether it’s a complex installation challenge, a tricky fabrication request, or a unique client need that falls outside the standard playbook, Tommy is the one who makes seemingly impossible ideas possible.

He has a rare ability to look at a challenge from every angle, consider how the final product must connect with people, and engineer a solution that works—every time.

Keeping the Fleet Rolling and the Team Safe

Tommy’s work stretches far beyond project support. He is also the caretaker of our fleet and equipment, ensuring that everything we drive and everything we use operates safely, reliably, and at its best.

His responsibilities include:

Keeping the company fleet on the road and in top shape

Repairing, maintaining, and fine-tuning tools and equipment

Identifying potential safety concerns before they become issues

Ensuring every vehicle, ladder, lift, and shop tool is dependable and secure

When the team hits the road for off-site installs or tackles big in-bay projects, they do so with confidence because Tommy has made sure everything behind the scenes is solid.

Creative Solutions With Purpose

What makes Tommy truly stand out is not just his skill, but his mindset. Every fix, every custom-built part, every solved problem is guided by a single goal: helping people connect.

Whether that connection happens through a perfectly installed sign, a reliable work vehicle, or a unique solution that brings a client’s vision to life, Tommy is always thinking about the end impact. He understands that the work we do is ultimately about communication—and he plays a key role in making that communication possible.

A Trusted Teammate With an Essential Role

While much of his work happens quietly and without fanfare, Tommy’s impact is felt across every department. He supports projects, protects the team, empowers installers, and keeps the gears turning—literally and figuratively.

For Katherine and the entire staff, having Tommy on the team means having someone they can rely on no matter how complicated a challenge may be. His creativity, patience, and problem-solving abilities strengthen the company every single day.

Behind Every Great Project, There’s Tommy

At Performance Signs, innovation isn’t just about new ideas—it’s about the people who bring those ideas to life. Tommy Darnell does exactly that. His talent for solving the problems no one else can keeps our work moving forward, our fleet operating safely, and our clients thrilled with the results.

We’re proud to have an Innovation Specialist whose work helps connect people—and whose dedication strengthens the foundation of everything we do.

For more than 30 years, Performance Signs has been deeply rooted in the community we call home. While signs and graphics are what we produce, service is part of who we are. From the beginning, we’ve believed that a successful business functions like a family—one that cares for its neighbors, invests in relationships, and shows up when help is needed.

Serving Side by Side With Our Community Family

Our partnerships with local churches—including Spring Hill Baptist, Grace Community, and others—reflect shared values of faith, compassion, and service. Together, we support community events, school initiatives, and outreach programs that strengthen families and meet real needs.

These relationships go beyond sponsorships. They are rooted in trust, shared mission, and a genuine desire to care for the people who make up our community.

Fighting Hunger With Heart and Creativity

Supporting Feeding Greene and local food pantries has become a meaningful part of our outreach. Each year, our team comes together for “Fill the Bucket,” an annual food drive that has grown into a company tradition. The campaign reflects not only generosity, but also the creativity of our team—finding new ways to engage, encourage participation, and maximize impact.

Our commitment to family extends beyond people. Through “Fill the Bucket”, we’ve also supported local animal shelters, ensuring our four-legged neighbors receive care and nourishment as well. It’s just one more way we live out our belief that community includes everyone.

When the Team Has an Idea, We Rally Together

At Performance Signs, some of our most meaningful outreach efforts start with a simple idea from a team member. When that happens, we rally together as a family and move forward at full speed.

Just last year, that spirit led to school supplies and shoes being sent to children in the Congo. What began as a desire to help became a collective effort—proof that when creativity meets compassion, the impact can reach far beyond our own borders.

Supporting Missions That Serve Others

We are passionate about supporting the missions of local nonprofits that are making a meaningful difference. One organization especially close to our hearts is Love No Ego, whose work aligns beautifully with our values with authentic connection, service, and positive communication.

We truly enjoy assisting others as they fulfill their missions to help people—whether that support comes through signage, sponsorships, or hands-on involvement. Helping mission-driven organizations communicate their message and expand their reach is one of the most rewarding ways we use our skills.

Grateful for the Blessings, Committed to Giving Back

We are deeply grateful for the community that has supported and trusted Performance Signs for three decades. Our growth and success are blessings we do not take lightly, and we believe those blessings come with responsibility.

Service doesn’t always look the same—and sometimes, giving back includes having a little fun. Our team enjoys participating in local golf tournaments and pickleball tournaments, using friendly competition as another way to support great causes, build relationships, and stay connected with the community we love.

Our goal is to serve the community tenfold what has been given to us—to love generously, to help creatively, and to care like family. Whether through church partnerships, food drives, global outreach, or spontaneous acts of kindness, our commitment remains the same:

When our community thrives, we thrive together.

When Robbie Morris was growing up in Ruckersville, Virginia, he didn’t imagine that one day he’d be leading a thriving sign company, collaborating closely with a talented team, and spotting his work displayed across the region with a sense of pride only a creator understands. A William Monroe High School graduate who later studied at Virginia Tech and earned an Associates degree from Piedmont Virginia Community College, Robbie’s early interests were shaped not in classrooms, but at the racetrack—where asphalt, dirt, and the hum of engines filled the air. Watching his older brother win races sparked his fascination with design, decals, and the visual identity of speed. Without knowing it, those nights at the track were laying the foundation for Performance Signs.

Long before business ownership, Robbie’s first job was far less glamorous—scooping ice cream at New River Valley Speedway. It was there he learned teamwork, how to stay calm under pressure, and discovered what blisters feel like when you hand-scoop a little too enthusiastically. Those small but mighty lessons would eventually fuel something much bigger.

In 1996, Robbie officially launched what would become Performance Signs—not from a storefront, warehouse, or polished office, but from a dorm room. Replacement decals for his brother’s race car were expensive and inconvenient, so Robbie found a solution. Soon, the business moved from his dorm room to his bedroom, and staying organized became both a challenge and a comedy. But even then, Robbie’s creativity and determination were clear. What started with racing decals slowly turned into a growing stream of projects, relationships, and momentum.

Today, Robbie serves as Performance Signs’ Business Development lead and EOS Visionary. His role no longer includes all-hours production sessions, but it does include shaping direction, solving complex challenges, and supporting the entire team through leadership rooted in clarity and innovation. While others manage installs, design files, printers, vinyl, and workflow, Robbie sees the horizon—what’s coming, what’s possible, and what’s next. He collaborates closely with every team member, weaving together people, ideas, and opportunities with the same precision he once used to align race car graphics in his dorm room.

Over the years, Robbie has seen countless projects move through the shop, but one he will never forget is the installation of an overhead highway sign project in Lynchburg—an unforgettable combination of scale, logistics, adrenaline, and accomplishment. And even now, when he’s out and about with his four children, he still spots signs and wraps from past projects. Each one sparks a grin and a story, retold from the driver’s seat like a proud artist pointing out gallery pieces across a hometown landscape.

Outside of work, Robbie enjoys time at the cabin with his goats, a setting that balances the fast-moving pace of entrepreneurship with quiet, earthy simplicity. He has been married to Katherine for over 20 years, and together they are raising four children. Katherine, who works alongside Robbie daily, is not only his wife but also the owner of Performance Signs and a central force in the company’s success. Her leadership guides the heartbeat of daily operations—overseeing systems, supporting the team, nurturing company culture, and ensuring that the shop runs with the same precision and intentionality she brings to every part of her life. Robbie’s vision might look to the future, but Katherine’s day-to-day stewardship ensures that the company stays grounded, organized, and thriving in the present.

Family remains at the heart of why Robbie builds, leads, and imagines what comes next—and Katherine’s influence, strength, and partnership shape Performance Signs just as deeply as Robbie’s creativity and forward-thinking direction.

What motivates Robbie each day is the new and unknown—the projects that stretch the imagination, the challenges that require inventive thinking, and the opportunities that move the company forward. Creative problem-solving is his favorite part of the process, and his natural leadership style offers guidance, encouragement, and a steadying presence to the entire Performance Signs team.

As the company continues to grow, evolve, and refine its craft, Robbie remains energized by what lies ahead. His vision, paired with his lifelong love of design, movement, and momentum, ensures that Performance Signs continues to thrive—one project, one customer, and one proud team at a time.

When Jon graduated from James Madison University in 2002, running a bustling print department and overseeing production at a sign shop were not part of his plans. Turning to stone masonry first and realizing how much he appreciated Industrial Design, Jon continued looking for creative outlets that tied together his passion for design and the desire to not live in a van down by the river. The Greene County local and William Monroe High School graduate has great joy knowing Performance Signs is a consistent and encouraging place to build a career. Jon also enjoys the deep rivalry with Madison graduate, Darren as they both crank out vehicle wraps and designs.

Since Jon has been with Performance Signs the longest of any team member, he has also weathered the different locations and working conditions. Starting back in 2003, Jon recalls the inventive quarters Robbie and Katherine utilized to bring quality pieces to Greene County and the surrounding areas. As the business grew and evolved, so did Jon’s respect for all steps in the production process and the unique art medium that is vinyl, wraps, and signs. In his previous role as a stone mason, he created with stone and mortar. At Performance Signs he transitioned into a master of design and colors. Today Jon can be spotted at his computer editing pictures and measurements, assisting Darren in the Installation Bay, or enjoying his lunch on the second-floor patio. Eating al fresco and allowing his brain to shift from minute details to big picture and back again helps Jon remain creative and energized for each new project.

While Jon could appreciate the former sign shop for its cardiovascular benefits, he remains grateful for the conscientious design and flow of the new shop on Performance Way. Jon no longer needs to sprint up and down multiple flights of stairs, dart around corners, or play vehicle Jenga in the Installation Bay. With every possible tool for design and production located conveniently within his reach, Jon can now receive design information from Brianna, oversee production in the bay, and communicate with all team members from the comfort of his rolling chair. A huge picture window affords him constant monitoring and a spectator’s view of the plethora of printers.

“There are so many bells and whistles here. I remember having to let the air out of tires to get vehicles in the bay at our very first shop 20 years ago. The bay door wasn’t high enough to fit the vehicles we were wrapping. But now we have huge doors, at least 16 feet of clearance, and the bay is an amazingly well thought out and fun place to work on wraps.”

Bringing 20 years of experience to Performance Signs, Jon takes no assignment for granted. Having installed projects through the years, he can attest to the higher quality of life the new shop now offers everyone. Being in a clean, climate-controlled environment to crank out all manner of signs, banners, fleet wraps helps every teammate function at the top of their game every day they arrive in the new shop.

One of Jon’s earliest install projects included 20 feet of space between the ground and the sign installation. Knowing that a 5×10 foot sign would not magically install itself, especially at such a great height, Jon recalls how funny and challenging that install was. Jon also enjoys spotting his work around town. His first vehicle wrap brings a wide grin to his face as he recalls the large box truck he still gets glimpses of and flashbacks of all the lessons and experiences he now carries into each project. He appreciates each part of the process, from design to print to install and functions as both manager and chief encourager for teammates. Jon knows what every project requires from start to finish and his teammates know they can rely on his keen eye and detail-oriented work ethic.

Jon rolls into the shop everyday looking for ways to assist his teammates in creating consistent and customer-pleasing designs. The overall layout of the new shop continues to impress him but the small details he notices help him complete each project more efficiently and with customer satisfaction in mind. Simply having more room and a functional space for the giant laminator has given Jon and everyone in the production area a dedicated space to print, laminate, and cut out each project without having to shift or rearrange a space every time a project requires more room to complete. This means customers receive their projects in less time and with the highest quality and attention to detail.

While Jon enjoys each day at the shop and looks forward to projects that challenge and drive him to excellence, he also enjoys the moment-to-moment interactions with each of his production partners. Whether scheming about office Halloween costumes or discussing football strategies, Jon knows the office culture Performance Signs has built through the years supports each teammate in producing their best work on each project. When Jon goes home to his wife and four active kids each day, he knows whatever project lands in his hands next will not only get his full creativity but also the dedication and support of the production team. His Pantone paint swatches and pencils are always waiting for him at his desk and Jon walks away wondering what innovative and creative design he gets to tackle next.

If there is anyone on the team who benefits from having extra space to work, it is Ken. Our Graphics Finisher here at Performance Signs, Ken rolls into Production with a can-do attitude, lots of caffeine, and the willingness to complete all tasks to perfection. Now that he has more room to spread out projects on the giant application table, he can easily create and piece together the largest signs to the smallest of designs. Ken has enjoyed using his talents with us since 2011 to finish fleet wraps, banners, and signs. Since Ken works closely with Lead Graphic Designer Jon and Graphic Designer Molly, he constantly hones his skills and is usually one of the final people working on a project before a client receives it.

Ken works with vinyl lettering and banners the way some artists paint with watercolors. The Monet of trimming and vinyl, Ken utilizes a variety of materials required to complete a project. He recalls starting out eagerly, learning the art he now creates daily. Ken works his magic whether he adds hems and grommets to a classic banner or needs a steady more skilled hand trimming. Every project is a chance to sharpen his abilities and Ken enjoys the challenge of working with a multitude of surfaces and the variety that every day brings him. He claims to not have a favorite material to apply work to but enjoys the challenge each new project brings him.

Ken cranks out any size project thanks to the new and vast Production space. He can now work continuously without having to shift different elements to make room. Ken believes the increased space and accessibility in the Production area benefit clients more now than in the previous shop. There is greater consistency and flow and any project needing many hands can easily fit in the new Production space. Although Ken can work on a variety of projects at the same time and there is plenty of space to do so, he prefers focusing on one project all the way through until it is officially finished and ready for the client to pick up.

“The best part of what I do as a Graphics Finisher is completing a project of any size. The best feeling is seeing it through from the second it comes off the printer to the very last moment I touch it. When I get to see my work around town, well that just makes it even more rewarding. Having this big space creates more opportunity to create even more projects and serve clients better.”

One of Ken’s favorite machines to play with is the giant metal shear he now has much easier access to in the new shop. Our resident tallest teammate, Ken gets a small thrill when anything requires the karate-chop action of the cutter followed by slicing different shapes and sizes for projects. The cutter requires both hand and foot coordination for utilizing the giant pedal to control the cutting and now that Ken has plenty of room to move around he has all but achieved shearing perfection.

Given Ken’s drive to make clients happy, it comes as no surprise that he would rather be in the Production area cranking out his craft than anywhere else. While some teammates head out for “field trips” as Ken calls installation days, he would rather remain at home base working at his table. He enjoys the innovation of the new shop and thinks there is nowhere better to work than using his tools and next to his teammates he genuinely enjoys and who drive each other to create their best on each project.

“I never even used a saw before I started at Performance Signs. I didn’t know a thing. And now I can’t imagine doing anything else. I love it here and want to stay at my table turning out projects for as long as I can.”

If Ken had to pick one type of project to consistently dedicate his time to, he would pick real estate signage. Whether he is driving through his home town here in Greene or where he grew up in Charlottesville, Ken enjoys spotting his handiwork in yards and nearby subdivisions. Having completed too many signs to count, Ken smiles thinking of his favorites and the desire to create and finish the next sign. He remains dedicated to his new Production space which means he usually stays behind-the-scenes with minimal client interaction. However, there are occasions when he helps clients face-to-face and Ken beams recalling the moments he witnesses a customer seeing a project he helped create.

“Every so often I get to watch a client see a finished project I worked on and those are really special moments. They are so appreciative and excited and that makes me excited. I want to work harder and keep finding new ways to produce what people want.”

Even though Ken finds contentment at his Production table, he does enjoy sitting with teammates around other tables. The new kitchen at Performance Signs provides space to share trainings, daily life, and our local King Kong pizza. Ken is a family man and loves to be beside his wife, Barbara, enjoying her famous kitchen creations or watching the New York Yankees. It should come as no surprise he cherishes his two sons as well. Now that his oldest son, Gabe, is also a teammate here at the shop Ken gets to see his family even more. Gabe will start at UVA in Fall of ’23 and Ken’s pride is tangible. His younger son Nate continues diligently studying in high school and will graduate in 2024.Ken recognizes how fortunate he is to have grown into the Graphics Finisher position he thrives in and that he can watch his sons grow into the next level of adulthood all from the comfort of his table.

With his pocketful of squeegees and knife wielding abilities, Jake made the transition from woodworking to the Performance Signs Installation Team flawlessly. One of our rookies, we see Jake’s eagerness and interest leading his talent on the squad. Our Installation Apprentice came to us with experience working with his hands and creating something out of nothing. Today, Jake stays busy installing frosted window panels for local businesses, applying vinyl to vehicle fleet wraps, and picking up tips and tricks from expert production and install teachers Jon and Darren.

Jake spent only a handful of months at our previous shop but clearly sees the difference the new space on Performance Way in Greene offers him. More room to spread out and the accessibility of all tools rank chief among his favorite things. Since most of his home-base work takes place in the production and installation bay, he appreciates the multiple large garage doors and not having to play vehicle roulette. The quick learner and self-proclaimed “gear head” enjoys the challenge of starting with plain sides on a vehicle and transforming an otherwise bare vehicle into a custom design. Applying vinyl and using elbow grease along with his menagerie of tools, Jake cranks out customer pleasing, eye catching designs in the bay.

Jake thrives in the new production space but also in the field on installation days. Having grown up in Greene County, Jake appreciates taking field trips to install window etchings on local businesses. Installation can take a few hours to entire days as he applies and smooths decals on doors and windows. Stepping back to observe his creation fills Jake with immense pride as the vinyl gives instant gratification. Starting with a blank canvas and ending with an intricate design leaves Jake excited to jump into the next project. Home-grown and a William Monroe High School graduate, Jake enjoys seeing the fruits of his labor around town. Being able to point out projects he completed fuels his desire to continue working hard and learning more as he studies at Piedmont Virginia Community College.

Back in the installation bay, Jake is often found enjoying everything with wheels. From large fleet wrap projects to personal car wraps, Jake’s pleasure working on all vehicles propels him to continue installing unique and detailed designs. Once he receives design details from Project Manager Brianna and Installation Team Leader Darren, Jake jumps into action. With every tool at his disposal, Jake admits how liberating and efficient installs are in the new bay:

“There’s an ease to each install here now. Everything I need is quickly within reach. I don’t have to break focus or stop what I’m doing to hunt down different tools or design pieces. Customers get our best because we have everything we need right here. The install bay was designed with us in mind and that’s pretty awesome.”

For all the new space and design of the install bay, Jake delights in all things that go. Every new shelf, bin, chair, and cart now have wheels to help the install team do their job effectively and efficiently. Jake has every tool close at hand and this allows him to complete each project with precision as well. Since many of his installs are taller than he is, Jake also enjoys the days he gets to work on the scissor lift. Working from high above his normal everyday position, Jake appreciates the challenge taller vehicles like first responder transports, cement mixers, and even large box trucks afford him. But following intricate design instructions and with the team always nearby, Jake gets to hone his skill set and fill his adventure-seeking side daily. Working here is no ordinary job for Jake and that suits him just fine. When Jake descends from the scissor lift and hangs up his tools for the day, he always looks forward to going home to his two biggest fans- his dogs Gus and Milo.

One of Jake’s favorite completed projects at Performance Signs was a race car for Rooster Hall Racing.

Outside of the install bay, Jake enjoys the kitchen here at Performance Signs. Eating Cane’s chicken around the table with his teammates, Jake looks forward to the time he shares with those who continually inspire and guide him into each new project. Although he has gotten close, he has not quite mastered the recipe that is Cane’s secret dipping sauce but enjoys the trial and error of such a delicious challenge. There is also the 20 minute nap room he has yet to take advantage of but appreciates knowing it exists. Sharing lunches and working elbow to elbow with teammates provides Jake opportunities to excel and grow in his craft. Although he takes each project seriously and completes installations in the bay or in the field with great care and pride, the flat surface and clean open space of the bay just cry out for him to take a few laps around on his hover board or rip stick.

Missy greets, welcomes, and brings the hospitality as Director of First Impressions here at Performance Signs. Missy kick started her career while in 2013 working in Production at the shop. Her hands-on experience continues to help her serve clients even better in her current role. Having lived the lingo and having spent time in the production space, Missy has a clear understanding of what the client is requesting even if the client has not yet found the words to describe their need. Knowing that a welcoming space for clients is instrumental, Missy takes great pride in keeping the new lobby inviting and warm. When the bell rings to alert team members of a client’s arrival, Missy jumps to action making sure all real estate signs, temporary banners, and vinyl projects are handed over efficiently. As business has increased, so has her need for more room and flexibility in serving clients. The new Performance Signs space in Ruckersville provides not only increased space for clients but also ample room for her favorite item, her giant desk.

“My favorite spot in the new space is definitely the one-of-a-kind desk Tommy hand built just for the open concept of the new waiting area. It’s large and I can spread out paperwork and anything needing to be shipped. It’s just right for me.”

The intentionality given to each element in the new office continues to impress Missy as she assists clients when dropping off or picking up their vehicles. Some projects have a quick turnaround time which means a client can now wait more comfortably in the deluxe lobby. Missy makes certain that police fleet wraps, taxi lettering, and more are expedited while clients relax in style, enjoying the new waiting area.

Missy is often our customer’s first and last point of contact. When clients call looking for signs and banners, Missy sends them in the right direction. She expertly directs each new project to the right team member and returns completed work to those coming in for pickup. If being the gatekeeper for a bustling sign shop is not enough, Missy also keeps Performance Signs organized and running. Every team member knows that grabbing supplies quickly and efficiently expedites tasks and the new office helps everyone do just that.

“There’s so much room to spread out but also use efficiently and keep projects moving. I absolutely loved moving to this new shop and having the freedom to start from scratch and organize every single item we use. There are so many bells and whistles throughout the building and I enjoy every one of them.”

Coordinating the recent move afforded Missy a major opportunity to hone her organization skills. Hands down her biggest project thus far, managing smaller office items to state of the art printing equipment kept Missy hustling. Since production never broke for the move, Missy also continued welcoming clients while accepting new furniture deliveries. She also thoroughly enjoyed helping orchestrate the design of the new lobby. Once the team had all items transferred and everyone else was settling into their new space, Missy’s work to keep Performance Signs humming picked up even more speed. Missy helped turn a vacant room into a warm and welcoming lobby fit for clients to comfortably wait for their banners or vinyl car wraps.

While the former Performance Signs shop met the needs of clients and teammates, being in the new space has upped the level all members are functioning at these days. Among the many bells and whistles the increased space offers, Missy enjoys the ability to interact with her teammates more regularly. The kitchen is a favorite gathering space for the whole office and having already hosted many training sessions for different teams, Missy can attest to having a great area to feed and gather. She also appreciates the occasional Mexican feast brought in for lunches, with extra queso of course.

With a background in customer service, Missy is no stranger to meeting the needs of clients and whatever project they carry through the doors. Being able to serve clients helps all the team members at Performance Signs focus on their tasks. The new space at Performance Way in Ruckersville affords Missy the opportunity to discover unique answers for daily tasks. Whether they require public safety fleet wraps or construction signs, Missy will see that every client gets the service and attention they deserve. With the new waiting area offering posh comfy seating and snacks, Missy enjoys visiting with people and knows every person who walks into the shop has a story and she wants to hear it. Connection-driven and the sweetest extrovert to roam the halls, Missy makes certain each sign gets individual attention and guarantees her teammates will see every project like it is their only project.

Since Missy grew up in Greene County and has remained local most of her life, nearly every person who comes through the doors of Performance Signs knows her or her family. Missy is married to Installation Team Leader and Certified 3M Graphics Installer Darren and they enjoy sharing a workspace near each other. Even after the large move and getting everything transferred over to the new office, Missy and Darren remained on-the-go at home having fun with their daughter and their Blue Heeler Mountain Cur dog. When Missy has any down time she wants to be with her family or reading a book. She enjoys watching all college sports and takes in our home team UVA Cavalier games in-person when she can.

When Molly was 10 years old she started saving birthday and allowance money to purchase her own iPad. Determined to create graphics and art on her own, Molly’s stylus upgraded to an Apple Pen over the years as she dreamed of finding work to support her talent. Fast forward to today and that same Molly has her dream job creating graphics and assisting with finishing for our bustling Production area. Molly joined Performance Signs in 2022 as Production and Design Assistant, learning the ins and out of creating logos, fleet wraps, and texts for signs. Molly brings a touch of youth, playfulness, and perspective to the team.

Molly’s fresh talent and attention to detail immediately impressed the team. During one of her first interactions with Katherine, Molly needed to create a vector-based design from an image handed to her. Molly laughs recalling how long it took for her to design something that today would take her only a fraction of the time. Becoming accustomed to the more straightforward use of vectors rather than images meant Molly needed to deconstruct images she had grown familiar with creating. She admits how easy it is to find vectors in everyday images now and finds herself skipping out on adult chores at home to keep creating for her own joy. Constantly grateful for the opportunities to sharpen her skills and learn both the Design and Production sides of creating are even easier in the new space. Her favorite part of the new shop is her personalized design space. Having a desk and area built for exactly what she needs makes her more productive and able to focus for each client’s project.

“Our new space is so homey and welcoming. I got to setup my area in a way that helps me create and design. By being comfortable in my space, clients get the best of me and my attention to details. I love each part of my space and how it helps me find new ways to create in order to serve our clients.”

Molly often creates designs at her sparkly new desk but regularly pivots to the Production area to assist Jon and Ken with finishing. Molly’s proximity to colleagues serves her well in the new shop. She can quickly converse with Brianna concerning project details, with Jon about whether a design will work, and with Ken concerning finished application and how a completed piece will look. Molly admits the new shop has an improved layout. This allows the whole team to have more consistent interactions with each other from the moment a project begins until handing off a completed banner or sign to a client. This consistency keeps Molly focused and efficient, which benefits customers at the same time.

Serving clients and continual learning keeps Molly engaged and up-to-date on the latest methods working with vinyl, signs, and banners. The new space at Performance Way allows Molly’s Production side to operate more efficiently. Increased Production space means it is far more open than the former shop. Another benefit of the new space Molly already notices is the increased amount of storage and ease of access to all materials. She no longer requires step-stools or waiting until a long-armed-teammate walks by to grab vinyl rolls for her.

“It may seem small to be so excited about the new storage system we have, but I love it! It helps all of us in Design and Production stay focused and on task. We’re not juggling so many materials in a small space anymore. Having instant access to everything we need means clients’ needs are met more efficiently.”

As with any artist, Molly will jump through a window in a moving car to see her designs around town. She thoroughly enjoys pointing out her creations and which teammates she collaborated with on the designs. A self-proclaimed “foodie” it is no surprise her favorite projects are food truck designs. She gets a huge kick out of food truck colors, the amount of work involved in creating an eye-catching design, and the fun she has making it all work together. Molly grins wide recalling the first time she saw her own design on a food truck in public. Whether someone is in the car with her or not, her excitement about seeing her craft on display around town motivates her to continue creating. Molly could only appreciate them more if they all included hot tea and boneless wings.

One of her favorite non-food-truck projects was for the West Virginia Wildlife Rescue wall mural. The thought and care necessary to focus on such an involved task meant Molly spent dedicated time creating and planning innovative techniques for this large project. She quickly remembers that this piece included shades of beige, burgundy, and black coming together to create a show stopping piece to be proud of. Since Molly enjoys hiking the nearby mountains and spending time outside, the Wildlife Rescue project became personal for her as she wanted to do her best work for a worthwhile organization.

Molly currently lives in Ruckersville but grew up in nearby Madison. A lifelong local, she enjoys seeing work on display that she and her teammates created and brought to fruition. Working in the encouraging and fun environment of Performance Signs motivates Molly for every new project. She knows her talent and her ideas are valued. She has a hard time believing that this is her real actual life because it is everything 10-year-old Molly wanted. Turning a hobby into a dream career leaves Molly grateful and always ready for her next challenge.
