In fact, this blog has been spreading the news of the Perodua MPV since early 2008, and we’ve been teased by numerous spy shots and revelations ever since. Well, it’s finally here now and we’ve got a chance to drive it over a weekend, covering 385km over a variety of roads.

Read the rest of the report after the jump.

The model we tested

The Alza we sampled is an SXi, which means it’s the Premium spec manual transmission variant priced at RM60,990 (OTR including insurance). Extra equipment over the Standard models include ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, dual airbags, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, leather wrapped steering with audio controls, driver seat height adjuster, fog lamps, rear spoiler, higher grade seat fabric and silver/chrome trim in the cabin. That’s quite a lot of added kit for an extra RM5,000 – well worth it in our opinion.

Here’s a brief recap of how Perodua’s MPV stands on paper to its immediate rivals. The Alza sits on an elongated Myvi platform and its 2750mm wheelbase compares well with the Toyota Avanza (2655mm), Nissan Grand Livina (2600mm) and Proton Exora (2730mm) even though it’s the second shortest here after the Avanza. The Alza’s footprint is actually much smaller than the Exora’s – the long wheelbase is derived by pushing the rear wheels right to the car’s edges.

Under the bonnet is a cast iron block 3SZ-VE 1.5-litre engine, as used in the Avanza 1.5 and Rush, although it’s mounted longitudinally in the rear-drive Toyotas and transversely in the FWD Alza. Perodua quotes 103bhp (104PS) and 136Nm of torque, which is slightly lower than the Avanza’s 108bhp/141Nm – perhaps a slightly different state of tune. Transmission options are a four-speed auto and our tester’s five-speed manual.

For more detailed technical info and measurements, view our previous post.

Living in the Alza

Using wheelbase length as a measure of spaciousness is more applicable in a passenger car than an MPV because rear overhangs contribute to an MPV’s interior length, so we shouldn’t read much into the Alza’s class leading wheelbase. The Alza feels much smaller than the Exora inside, and should be about the size of a Grand Livina, but with a much higher roofline than the Nissan which contributes to an airy and open feel. Stepping into the Alza is very easy, as doors open wide (typically Perodua) and the ride height is just perfect – no need to “climb” into the car.

Access to the third row is trickier. The Alza lacks a tumble fold system for the second row, which means you’ll need to fold down the seat backs (it doesn’t go fully flat) and pull the base – a two-step operation that’s less convenient than the Exora’s two-way, one-touch lever. Once that’s done, the opening is small and those who are less nimble might have difficulty entering.

Once inside, the high roof gives adequate headroom but legroom fully depends on the kindness of other occupants – it can range from zero (if the second row is pushed fully back) to decent for mid-sized adults if a compromise between second and third row members can be made. Anyhow, the seat base is not much higher than the floor so your knees will point high, but this is not uncommon in a seven seater. There’s also very little space for luggage with all seats up. I also wished that the non-split rear seats can be folded flat with just one operation – at present you’ll need to pull two straps (one on each side) to tumble it.

“Is the air-con strong enough?” is a common concern among Malaysian carbuyers and we’re happy to report that despite not having a separate blower and vents for the rear section, the Alza’s air con provides a strong enough breeze to reach rear occupants. The system also cools very fast. There are also plenty of cupholders – 12 in our car!

From the driver’s seat

From the driver’s seat, the driving position, ergonomics and visbility are all pleasant. For me, the highlight of the dashboard is the integrated stereo system, which is full featured, easy to use with big buttons and looks premium with tight fit buttons flush with the surface. In contrast, the Vios derived “bottle cap” style A/C controls look cheap, and without the auto gear lever sharing this space, the area looks rather empty, as if something is missing.

The centre mounted instrument pack is OK for clarity, but the trip computer didn’t have much info other than Range. The manual variant also lacks the driver seat extension and fold down arm rest since the gear lever and hand brake are in their traditional location – between the seats. What it gets over the auto are a couple more cubbies and cupholders.

On the move, the Alza is a very easy and undemanding car to drive – the steering is light, turning circle is tight and clutch is similarly effortless. But the clutch pedal does not seem to have any biting point – it’s either up or down – and those without the habit of resting their foot on the clutch might crave for a foot rest – at present, the pedal is so near the centre console that Perodua wouldn’t have been able to fit one anyway.

The Alza’s gearchange could also be better. The shallow gates and imprecise rubbery feel means that there’s little satisfaction to be had swapping gears; the process feels quite crude and van-like actually.

Many have doubts whether a 1.5-litre is sufficient for an MPV and this is where the Alza surprised us and our passengers. Acceleration is lively, whether from rest or in gear, and there’s enough low down torque to merge with faster flowing traffic without venturing high up the rev range. You do hear and feel the engine buzz, as you would in other Peroduas, but it’s never annoying.

I ferried the family up to Genting Highlands to see how the Alza would cope with four adults on board, and it managed the task admirably. For the first half of the journey on the Karak highway, the Alza made decent progress in fifth gear; only a few times did I need to downshift to fourth to regain momentum. After exiting the highway to begin the climb, the Alza took care of slower traffic and more powerful but poorly driven cars mostly in second gear, even for the few super sharp slopes on the route. It did struggle a little to be honest, but so does its rivals, so there’s not much of an issue here.

That experiment showed that the Alza is pretty flexible on the move, although there’s an occasional hesitation and pause in the mid range, as noticed in our preview report. The Perodua feels more energetic, responsive and effortless than the 1.6 CPS powered Exora and although we did not do a side-by-side comparison, my money is on the car from Rawang in a performance test.

The Alza rides and handles capably as well. There’s not much body roll to speak of, and the ride comfort is relatively good – it doesn’t buck and bounce around like the Avanza or react so sharply to small bumps and ridges like the Grand Livina so it’s a good effort from Perodua. The 185-section Silverstone tyres aren’t exactly high on grip (ours were barely scrubbed in) but other than a steering that I feel should be tighter in high speeds, there’s very little to complain about. What the Exora does better is isolating the engine from the cabin, general refinement and car-driver communication.

On the matter of fuel consumption, I did 385km in the Alza with the trip computer showing a range of 150km (two bars of petrol) when I returned the car. The Alza’s full tank capacity is 42 litres and I added 10 litres to it, so the rough calculation points to 10.3 km/l, which is pretty decent considering the Genting detour. Perodua’s claim is 15.5 km/l for the manual, but keep in mind that it’s almost never possible to hit official figures.

Conclusion

Alza’s rear resembles the pre-facelift Myvi; here, it’s parked next to the current Myvi

As an MPV, it’s far from perfect. But to its credit, Perodua doesn’t call the Alza a full-sized MPV, preferring the “5+2″ occasional seven seater status. And if viewed as a bigger Myvi with much better legroom, a huge boot and two “emergency seats” the Alza becomes a brilliant proposition. We can see how popular the Myvi is with Malaysians, and if given more of the same with the abovementioned benefits at a small premium, there’s no reason why the Alza won’t be a runaway success. As a bonus, the Alza has adequate performance and is entirely decent to drive.

Perodua has released its sales figures for 2009, and it comes as no surprise that the Rawang based company ended the year in top spot. Perodua sold 166,700 units to top Malaysia’s sales charts for the fourth consecutive year. The 2009 total is also the second highest in the company’s history.

With that, Perodua’s market share is 31.3 per cent, which is an improvement over 30.5 per cent in 2008, when it sold 176,400 units. “We did considerably well in 2009 with a minimal contraction of 0.4 per cent despite the global economic downturn,” said Perodua’s new managing director Aminar Rashid Salleh at a meeting with the media this afternoon.

Aminar, previously from UMW Toyota, attributed some of Perodua’s success to the Government’s scrapping scheme, which brought 20,000 new sales to Perodua. Perodua’s top seller continues to be the Myvi, which contibuted over 90,000 of the total figure. He also revealed Perodua’s target for 2010, which is to sell 176,000 units.

Here are some updates on the Alza. We haven’t seen that many of Perodua’s small MPV on the road, and it’s been confirmed that our eyes are not problematic. 18,000 bookings have been received to date, but so far less than 3,000 units have been delivered. Perodua promises to reach 3,000 by the end of this month and to produce/deliver about 4,000 units per month beginning March (February is a short month with the Chinese New Year break).

Currently, the waiting period for the Alza is from three and a half to four months; Perodua aims to cut this to 2-2.5 months. There won’t be a repeat of the epic waiting list that Myvi buyers had to endure; Perodua admits that they underestimated demand for the Myvi when it was launched.

PERODUA ALZA 1.5 litre

PERODUA ALZA 1.5 litre, 1500cc (rm 90 road tax, good performance with low road tax) (Automatic) brand new RM63,900 full loan, low interest, affordable down payment, u can afford monthly RM780 x9 yrs fast delivery high trade in.

Perodua Alza MPV: Perodua Alza News

KUALA LUMPUR: Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) is confident its newly launched Perodua Alza will be the top-selling multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in 2010.
Managing director Datuk Syed Abdull Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar said Perodua was targeting to sell between 3,500 and 4,000 units of the model per month, adding that it had already received 3,500 bookings for the Alza since Nov 13.KUALA LUMPUR: Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) is confident its newly launched Perodua Alza will be the top-selling multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in 2010.

Managing director Datuk Syed Abdull Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar said Perodua was targeting to sell between 3,500 and 4,000 units of the model per month, adding that it had already received 3,500 bookings for the Alza since Nov 13.
“Based on our target of 4,000 units a month, it should be the highest (selling MPV),” he told a press conference before the launch of Alza yesterday.
Hafiz said he expected the local MPV segment to grow to 30% of total industry volume in 2010 compared with 10%–11% currently.
He said the Alza was targeted at young families and urban singles, adding that the bulk of the pre-launch orders were for the automatic variants.
The Alza is available in standard, premium and advanced variants. All variants are available in both manual and automatic transmissions.
With a starting price of RM56,000, the Alza (which means “to rise” in Spanish) is the cheapest MPV in the market. The vehicle maker will in March launch the advanced variants, priced at between RM67,000 and RM70,000.
Asked about the potential impact of Proton Holdings Bhd’s newly launched Exora Basic variant, which has a starting price of RM57,548, Hafiz said: “I don’t think it would affect us significantly.”
“We did a survey and found that 30% of the respondents would purchase an MPV if it was affordable,” Hafiz said.
As of October 2009, Perodua had sold 138,000 vehicles compared with 142,000 units a year earlier. It currently commands a 31.1% market share of TIV.
Hafiz said the Alza would boost its market share to 31.5% of an estimated TIV of 520,000 units by the year-end. Perodua expected its market share to reach 33.3% next year when the TIV was projected to hit 530,000, he added.
Currently, Myvi and Viva account for 55% and 41% respectively of Perodua’s sales. Hafiz said the vehicle maker was on track to achieving RM7bil sales this year.
For 2010, Hafiz said the Alza would contribute 28% to total sales, with Myvi and Viva contributing 40% and 32% respectively.

The Malaysian Car Perodua Alza

Perodua Alza 1.5L Manual Test Review

<ins><ins></ins></ins>

The Perodua Alza is surely one of the most anticipated cars of recent times. Why? Because December is the cheapest time to buy a new car. In fact, if you’re looking for a bargain, six of the 10 best days to buy all year are between December 14 and the end of the year.

Buy in December

That’s the conclusion the car pricing experts at TrueCar reached when they crunched data from the last three years of pricing trends. “The average discount in December is around 6.5 percent off MSRP, compared to 4.5 percent in a typical month,” says Jesse Toprak, TrueCar vice president of Trends and Insights.

There is an old rule of thumb in the auto industry, Toprak explains, that says “the end of the week, the end of the month, and the end of the year” are the best times to buy. “Statistically speaking,” he tells us, “that actually turns out to be the case.”

Best Days to Buy in December

Date

Expected Average
Discount

12/14/2009

6.86%

12/16/2009

6.74%

12/21/2009

7.13%

12/24/2009

7.25%

12/28/2009

6.90%

12/31/2009

7.04%

Why would prices dip at the end of the year? Like so many things in the car shopping process, the phenomenon is psychological – but it has real impact on the financial health of car dealerships and shoppers.

The calendar hits 2010 next month. But for automakers, it’s been 2010 since mid-summer. Some of the earliest model year 2010 cars were rolling off of factory lines by July, and by now, dealerships are filled with cars with next year’s date on the window sticker.

But they also have plenty of 2009 cars left to sell -- more than in a typical year, in fact. That’s because automakers overbuilt, underestimating the impact of the recession on American buying habits. On Jan. 1, 2010, the value of those 2009 cars will drop because they will seem out of date. Dealerships want to get rid of them before that drop comes.

In reality, the differences between model years can be subtle. The 2010 Ford Fusion is a dramatically better car than the 2009 version, since Ford significantly modified its midsize sedan between model years. The 2010 Honda Accord LX, however, is virtually identical to the 2009. Honda lightened the color of the ventilation switches. That’s it. That’s the full list of changes. Yet, come January 1, the 2009 Accord will be worth thousands less than its 2010 counterpart -- so dealers are willing to negotiate this month to push the 2009s out the door.

There are a handful of exceptions to Toprak’s guidelines. Prices of some vehicles vary seasonally. Convertibles, for instance, are typically cheapest in colder months. All-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive vehicle prices dip a little in the summertime. “But even with trucks,” he says, “buying an expiring model-year vehicle in December may be cheaper than buying the same truck in the summer,” when dealers don’t feel the pressure of January 1 looming.

Buy at the End of the Month

No matter what month you do your car shopping, Toprak says, you can still save money by timing your purchase carefully. Plan to buy, he says, late in the month. Dealerships are most willing to accept a lowball offer as the start of a new month rolls around.

“There is something called an Objective Bonus,” he explains, “that few shoppers seem to know about.” It’s a simple concept. Automakers set targets for their dealerships each month – “if they sell a certain number of units by the end of the month, they get a bonus from the automaker.” If you time your purchase for the last few days before the calendar switches over, you might find yourself negotiating with a dealer who knows he needs to sell just a few more cars to qualify for a big check from the home office – so he’s willing to take less from you in order to get one sale closer to his quota.

Buy on Saturday

The day of the week you go shopping can change the amount you’ll pay as well. In most weeks, TrueCar’s analysis shows, the biggest discounts tend to fall on Saturdays.

Car dealers are acutely aware of all the competition they face from other brands and even other dealerships selling the same brand. They know that when shoppers leave the house intending to make a purchase, they generally do.

“I ran dealerships for a few years,” Toprak says, before launching his career as an analyst. “The thinking at dealerships,” he explains, “Is that if you don’t give customers enough of a discount to close the deal on Saturday, they will go down the road somewhere else. They’re shopping on Saturday, and they intend to buy that day.”

Buy on a Holiday

Finally, TrueCar’s data shows you should consider car shopping when your neighbors are wrapping presents, or getting things ready for their party. Two of the least expensive days of the year are Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, when the average discount tops 7 percent off MSRP.

Maybe those commercials that propose giving a car as a Christmas gift aren’t completely crazy after all.

ALZA - local MPV given breath more fresh, stylish and economic.

AFTER a long time waiting, finally fulfill their promise when Kia launched multi-purpose vehicle model (MPV) first, Alza in the capital, yesterday.

Seven-seat model is indeed anticipated loyal fans who previously claimed Perodua MPV model is the 'birth' the Daihatsu Boon Luminas popular in Japan.

However, Alza distinct characteristics and meet the local MPV given breath more fresh, stylish and economic.

In fact, the road offered starting price around RM56, 000 to RM65, 000 is able to attract single people and families to have a small Kia Alza.

External features such as the latest front projector lamp, LED taillight and turn signals on side mirrors prove Perodua satisfy customers.

In addition, the aerodynamic design makes a Alza machinery worth owned.

Alza supplied coded 3SZ-VE engine 1.495 cc DOHC 16-valve with DVVT.

Engine involved the same model as used in Toyota Vios and Avanza, but Alza use than front-drive Avanza which uses rear-wheel drive.

Throughout 4.205 mm, 1.695 mm wide and 1.620 mm high, Alza can accommodate seven passengers with a comfortable medium-sized.

In fact, given a new lease of inner space when the second seat can be pulled up to the front passenger seat for easier third-row entry and exit.

In addition, the EZ model, connected between the front seats drivers and front seat passengers, thus giving the true picture of a MPV for the family.

Simple and attractive dashboard button while in the presence of automatic gear steering facilitate driver.

Alza audio system comes equipped with Bluetooth technology players and other USB audio controls on steering.

Priced between RM55, 490 to RM61, 190 for the manual version and RM58, 480 to 64.190 for the automatic version, Alza comes with six color choices of Medallion Gray, Glittering Silver, Ebony Black, Pearl White, Solid White and the latest colors, Classy Purple.

Bank offers an added bonus with car loans

WITH the launch of the Perodua Alza recently, EON Bank decided to give away free Smart Tag packages when customers buy the new multi-purpose vehicle with its AM/PM car loan.

Perodua Alza - One Moment Car, MPV The Next...

Be the first of Perodua MPV, Alza can continued success model Myvi and Viva?

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to make coverage of Japan Tokyo Auto Salon 2009. For a country which has the world's largest automotive industry, car manufacturers from various segments, the new model entering the market almost every week, Japan has a unique automotive landscape.
I believe, if you're just normal people, it is impossible to know each model is available in Japan. K-Car models from the many kinds of bicycles, MPV like Yamaha LC with various variants.
Exhibitions Tokyo Auto Salon is also a focus tuner (tuner) to perform aftermarket products will enter the market. I will not be talked about in the aftermarket industry there, I just interested in one corner of the site there are several models exhibition Passo Sette talaan special, Modellista and Admiration.
Perodua MPV
At that time also, Malaysia is warm with rumors that Perodua MPV will introduce in 2009. In jujurnya, I do not anticipate that direct Perodua will take Passo Sette / Boon Luminas as the basis for logic, Daihatsu Luxio is the most suitable candidate.
Daihatsu Luxio is a successful project outside Japan, just like Gran Max is very popular in Indonesia. It is famous as the Toyota Lite Ace. Vanmini that only smaller. However, to see if poliferasi Toyota-Daihatsu and strategies in Asia and Malaysia in particular, the model is the most Luxio almost ended. Just look at segmentation Mini and midi controlled MPV Avanza and Innova. No Estima, Ipsum Isis or even.

ENGINE 1.5 liter is also quite save.
When rumors about Perodua MPV D46T blows blustery, Spyshot pictures to be seen on the website, I again find the hard disk image was recorded. Yes. It witnessed the same car earlier this year. Passo Sette and Boon Luminas already in the article I wrote two months ago. Perodua officially launched Alza, model MPV 'local' second Proton Exora.
It sold at a price starting RM56, 000 to RM64, 000 for standard and premium variants. Same with this strategy before, Perodua also offer variants on the advance price of RM67, 000 to RM70, 000. It is a version with full body package, GPS navigation system with reverse camera, leather seats and tinted.
Too many options
Kia is looking for smart opportunities. Now he works in the passenger vehicle market through only two models, Myvi and Viva. May be strange, but that is about ajaibnya Perodua, they succeeded in filling vacancies with only two models that dominate the list of sales each month.
If you continue to take into account competition with Proton Perodua, Myvi and Viva sales each month is always ahead of sales figures combined model Saga, Persona, Exora, Waja and Satria Neo.

Gear lever is placed in the center console makes the
dashboard Alza see updates.
Too many options to users is also not good. Perodua learn about the market carefully. If the ability to measure, they can introduce two or three models each year. But in reality, many types of cars in one segment, not good for a limited number of buyers.
Just look at Proton, they have models that compete with each other mutually. Market strategy is confusing, but they sometimes conflict with the plan requirements of the market.
They have to Saga and Savvy small car buyers. Model Persona, Gen2 and Waja sedan car to the buyer. Proton-segmentation is tunggang langgang. At one point, they introduced the Waja car makers as they prove that is free. Then, Gen2 and comes not long after that Persona.
When sales fell Gen2, Gen2 modify them as sporty models. Did the market sporty Satria Neo? Then Savvy with designs that I believe many Malaysians can not accept such extreme designs.

Storage space for all goods.
More surprising, they once again teamed up with Renault. While Tiara already proven performance. Not long after, Saga launched. Although it bak selling hot cakes, so I believe to this day, not even Savvy investments pay off.
Market often depends on demand. In this case I have to admit that Perodua always successfully find the best formula. Alza said to meet the current market was buyers who want a small MPV. It can be MPV or a car (station wagon it seems more appropriate).
Depth study
They have made only a small number of studies that only use the third row seat in the MPV. Requirements of the market also wanted a sporty MPV that they could have.
Affordable? It may Avanza, sporty? Certainly Alza. Power? No MPV authorities in this class, both Avanza, Exora or Grand Livina. If you want power, buy only Swift Sport, MPV is not intended to be a champion in the light signal.

Driver seat height can be adjusted.
Studies done by serious market. Perodua really lucky because Toyota has earned extensive experience in recognizing market. Studies conducted in Malaysia, Malaysia's clear that family profiles have been changed since a decade ago. Average number of family members reduced from six to four.
In fact, the MPV was seen not only should have wide space, they were more concerned about factors sporty, fuel savings and an affordable price. In short, they wanted something like Toyota Wish and Honda Stream at affordable prices.
Alza fulfill tastes
Perodua was targeting sales of 3.500 to 4,000 units per month Alza. They are also optimistic that the MPV market will grow reaching 30 percent next year.
These figures may seem unrealistic. But history has proven that when the early introduction of Avanza, TIV (Total Industry Volume) for the MPV had reached 21 percent. Figures is linked to internal research they had done. If Avanza built based on truck chassis (ladder frame) is selling, Alza monocoque body certainly will do better.
SPACE cabin is comfortable enough to bring the whole family.
When introduced Myvi also many who do not mempedulikannya, until they dominate the market almost every month from the first day it launched. I never predict the model on the market will explode. Essentially then, if people can buy the Hyundai Getz, Chevrolet Aveo and Suzuki Swift Myvi certainly has many advantages in terms of price. It is cheaper, something difficult to ignore you.
If your regular review on the website and blog local automotive, cars such as Viva received various criticisms and accusations. But the fact that can not be changed, the car number two larisnya in Malaysia.
It is a package car driving city needed by young people who start new work, housewives and college students. The reality, accurate market segmentation, price reasonable for the status of local cars.
Perodua believed binaannya quality. Perodua cars rarely pose problems to the owner. Tools lieu thereof cheap and easily available, the technology base.
Although the offensive operation, but how many buyers the story? Buyer pentingkan something worth to be paid. They do not even know about the story of a high safety rating, or operating too good. What is more important, and economical car that has a high value sales back.
Alza meet the tastes of small families and young people who want stylish. Not my words, but it is based on data from market research.
Alza did not really fit called MPV. Perodua himself realized that fact by placing the tagline 'One Moment Car, MPV The Next'. Vehicles that are in transition between a car, station wagon to the MPV.

If you expect seven adults with luggage and comfort, Alza not the right choice. But if you want a car that can carry hardware from Ikea, bring a friend or family relax at the weekend, Alza best possible candidate.

The All-New Perodua MPV

The long awaited Perodua MPV is finally here!

I didn’t get to go as I was not feeling well for the launching.
Must be the “landas” season, been feeling a bit under the weather of late …..

A friend Solomon, from our local Perodua Dealer; Erazoom of Jalan Satok did ask our people to attend the launching yesterday. (23rd of Nov)

Well, we finally went to one of Perodua’s showroom located at Jalan Tun Abg. Openg.
It was a rather wet afternoon, so I didn’t want to try and drive the test unit which is readily made available to anyone who requested it.

The prices given us ranging from RM57,000 – RM72,000..

I didn’t ask how long the “queue” is if you were to place a Booking Fee today?

Compare to Proton’s Exora, this should give them a run for their money because Perodua’s is cheaper though comparatively, smaller in size!

The “ALZA” the chosen name, is running on a 1.5cc DVVT, DOHC 16 valve (4 valves per cylinder) engine with EFI (electronic fuel injection)

It has a 3yr or the 100,000km Manufacturer’s Warranty,whichever comes first!

This time, Perodua only added 1 “new color” that is Classy Purple.

The fuel capacity is only 42 litres, equivalent to today’s gas price if you opt for our RON 95, RM75.60 only!

By the way, ALZA is a Spanish word, I was taken aback why the Management agreed to the name, or is that solely for business reasons?

But then again, why Kelisa, Kancil? I would prefer it “christened” a Malaysian instead of “dan lain-lain?” What say you?

perodua alza photo

<img border="0" – First Texas Honda, Austin’s only locally owned and operated Honda dealership and service center, is excited to announce the arrival of the all new 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour. Erik Berkman, Vice President of Honda America, described the Crosstour in Car and Driver: "Our concept is to broaden the appeal of the Accord lineup by leveraging traditional Accord strengths of fun-to-drive performance and handling while also adapting to dramatic shifts in the light truck marketplace. The Accord Crosstour accomplishes that by offering a modern interpretation of a CUV while integrating the refinement and efficiency of a premium sedan."
The Crosstour is a bold, sporty take on the popular Honda Accord, designed as an optimal blend of utility and performance. A 271-horse power 3.5-liter V-6 engine and the latest in Honda’s Variable Cylinder Management™ technology give the Crosstour an abundance of power and efficiency, while the vehicle’s advanced handling system and available Real Time™ 4-Wheel Drive, make the drive as comfortable as possible. Also, with 51.3 cubic feet of cargo room and an easy fold-down 60/40 split rear seatback, the Crosstour quickly and easily accommodates a wide range of space and seating requirements, providing passengers with the same roominess of previous Accords.
The 2010 Crosstour has just landed in the First Texas Honda showroom, so come by the dealership on West Koenig Lane and be the first to experience this new incarnation of the legendary Honda Accord.
alt="perodua-alza-1" src="http://paultan.org/image/perodua-alza-1.jpg" width="380" height="195" />

Here it is – the new Perodua Alza! We’ve been following the development of this MPV ever since we first got news of its existence back in early 2008, where it was reported that Toyota and Daihatsu were going to build a new MPV and produce it in Indonesia. When the Daihatsu Luxio MPV came out we all got a shock – that more of a van so we waited patiently until Christmas last year when the Toyota Passo Sette was finally unveiled in Japan. Nearly a year later, the Perodua-badged model with a new front, rear and interior is here. Read the full details after the jump

Perodua Alza TV Commercial

I am still putting the finishing touches on my Perodua Alza story. Anyway, we’ve got some short driving impressions around Putrajaya for you to accompany the full details and specifications.

I probably should have thought of this earlier – if you have any questions about the Perodua D46T MPV please post them in the comments section here and I’ll try to see if I can answer them in the story at 5PM.
