Currently pending in the Illinois legislature is a bill to increase the minimum insurance coverage for drivers from $20,000.00/$40,000.00 to $50,000/$100,000.00. This is a much needed change given the costs for medical care and treatment. We urge you to call your legislature to support this bill.

Big Lady gets Big Verdict

I just obtained a verdict for a client who slipped and fell at Alexian Brothers Hospital. She was 415 pounds and tripped over the carpet causing her to fracture her knee and eventually needed a knee replacement. The hospital refused to offer any settlement, disputed liability and the case was tried before a jury who found in favor of my client and awarded $500,000.00 in damages. The case was a very difficult one, yet we were able to show the jury that indeed it was the fault of the hospital for allowing a carpet that was not laying flat on the floor, that presented a tripping hazard to visitors to the hospital. A hospital is a place where many people, who are elderly and have infirmities visit daily. I convinced the jury that the hospital was negligent.
