Over Reaction To Colorado Theater Shooting

A post worth repeating....

Over Reaction To The Aurora, Colorado Theater Shooting

<< Man In UK Sentenced For 21 Months For Stun Gun Possession Uncategorized >>
Nancy and I decided to go to an afternoon movie. We don’t go to movies a lot, but when we do go, we like the nearly empty theaters you find during the weekdays.

We paid the exorbitant tickets price of $22 to get in, then are greeted by a bespectacled teenager who must have been 5′ 6″ and weighed 120 pounds. He said he needed to look in Nancy’s purse to see if she was carrying anything illegal, like a gun. He didn’t even question me if I was carrying a gun. I was wearing a Tommy Bahama shirt worn not tucked in and could have easily been carrying a concealed weapon.
Even though I knew why he had been instructed to do it, I asked him why he was doing it anyway. He replied, “Because of what happened in Colorado.”
I promptly removed his hands from inside my wife’s purse, walked back out to the ticket window and asked for a refund. The girl behind the window didn’t seem to grasp what I was asking for.
She said, “Are you saying you want your money back?”
Yes, I want my money back.
I think this was the first time any one had asked for their money back without even seeing the movie. She refunded our money and we went home. Well, I went home to get back to work, and Nancy went to the mall. Probably would have been cheaper for me if we had gone to the movie.
In all the years TSA has been inspecting people at the airports in the United States, they have not caught one terrorist. Now the movie theaters think they can catch terrorist. You cannot predict or stop a crazy person. But, now because he did this, this act of terror, once again, the innocent people and businesses will be inconvenienced with more infringement of their liberty. In fact, it would not surprise me if this is the straw that breaks the back of the movie, and specifically, the theater industry.
I wanted to tell that little guy at the movie theater, who was looking for terrorist, that if I had come in there armed and with evil intent, he would have been the first one to go. He wouldn’t have stopped anything.
I am also bothered by the fact that not one person in that Aurora theater was legally carrying a concealed weapon — not one!
But, one good thing has come out of this. Concealed weapon permit applications in Colorado and other parts of the country have sharply risen since the shooting.

Friday’s shooting at an Aurora movie theater may be prompting a spike in concealed weapons permit applications to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, while the presidential election season seems to be driving up the sales of firearms.
Weld County Sheriff John Cooke said Tuesday that applications for the right to carry a concealed weapon are up sharply since a gunman killed 12 and injured 58 at the Century Aurora 16 movie theater.

This is the way you fight terrorism and those that would strike at your liberty, property and life. Take responsibility for your own safety and the safety of your family. If you don’t want to arm yourself with a gun, then at least carry a pepper spray or a Taser. But, do something.

Stun Guns For Self Defense

2011-11-09T10:42:00.000-05:00

Stun guns use high voltage and low amperage to temporarily disable an attacker for several minutes. The stun gun does not rely on pain for results. The energy stored in the gun is dumped into the attacker's muscles causing them to do a great deal of work rapidly. This rapid work cycle instantly depletes the attacker's blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid. In short, he is unable to produce energy for his muscles, and his body is unable to function properly. The stun gun also interrupts the tiny neurological impulses that control and direct voluntary muscle movement. When the attacker's neuromuscular system is overwhelmed and controlled by the stun gun he loses his balance. Should the attacker be touching you, the current will NOT pass to your body! The Runt is a small fit in the palm of your hand stun gun. It is the new kid on the block, it packs a maxi punch in a mini size. The Cell Phone Pretender is a stun gun that looks like a cell phone stun gun.

Personal Safety Now!

Pepper sprays make great inexpensive personal safety devices!

Pepper Shot swells the mucous membranes, which makes breathing difficult, and swells the veins in the eyes, causing the eyes to close. These effects can last up to 45 minutes and cause no permanent damage. All models have a locking actuator except for the Pepper Pen. All of these models make excellent self defense items. The Mace Pepper Gun is a great personal safety item.

Taser For Self Defense

2011-09-27T09:02:00.000-04:00

In police studies, the TASER has a higher instant incapacitation rate than a 9mm hand gun. The TASER shoots out 2 darts attached to 15 feet of wire. 50,000 volts travels over the wires and over-rides the central nervous system providing incredible takedown power.

The TASER C2 is TASER’s newest product designed for personal protection. Utilizing the same technology as their proven law enforcement models, the C2 has incredible take down power.
The TASER C2 is a self defense electronic control device. Electronic Control Devices (ECDs) use propelled wires or direct contact to conduct energy to affect the sensory and motor functions of the nervous system. The TASER C2 uses a replaceable cartridge, containing compressed nitrogen, to deploy two small probes that are attached to the TASER C2 by insulated conductive wires with a maximum length of 15 feet (4.5 meters). The TASER C2 transmits electrical pulses along the wires and into the body affecting the sensory and motor functions of the peripheral nervous system. The energy can penetrate up to two cumulative inches of clothing.

Inert Gas Practice Pepper Spray

2011-09-06T19:47:00.000-04:00

http:The spray uses water instead of pepper spray. They are pressurized with nitrogen. Their purpose is to be used as a practice spray instead of wasting a real pepper spray. They will enable the user to get proficient at using a defense spray. Practicing teaches reality because if you ever have to use your pepper spray in real life, you're in a real situation. You want to have confidence that you can whip out that pepper spray and fend off an attack in a self defense situation.

WARNING: Do not spray on anyone or yourself. Even though there is nothing in the sprays to do any permanent harm to anyone, the nitrogen can cause some skin irritation or burning if sprayed in the eyes.
