I beseech you all to pray for my dog
A strange request upon this blog
But Frodo has a growth near his inner ear
And this discovery has caused some fear
The vet will prod further to find out why
This inner ear growth makes Frodo cry
So in the meantime I ask you to pray
That whatever pains him will go away
And when the x-rays and diagnosis are done
Pray that Jim and I will accept any outcome

Frodo Baggins will be 10 years old on November 26, 2009.

A night of ghosts
goblins and ghouls
Where behind a mask
we can act like fools
playing our tricks
sharing our treats
staying up very late
eating too many sweets
often awakening
to a toilet papered scene
Oh what the heck,

Here is a poem that I wrote in answer to the question “Why do you write poems?”

I never really asked the question
It’s something I just do
not understanding it myself
I’m hoping this gives me an answer too

Well, there are some reasons-
to gain a greater understanding
a sorting of solutions
when problems are so demanding

I may also quest for clarity
and reveal my thoughts to you
which are not simply shown
with a simple “How do you do”

I guess it is also dam control
when emotions are eruptive
I need not spew out lava
these rhymes are less destructive

Poetry brings a connection
to something greater than me
whether for my own expression
or entertainment at a party

They rhythm so simple and calming
soft and sweet like a lulliby
no matter if the topic alarming
or if the pain so harsh I must cry

The words are like a security blanket
that help me to continue
whatever my perspective is
my poems will always ring true

Realizing this Divine expression
of words that bring such peace
I now make this my profession
so that the rhymes will surely increase

Whatever road you follow

Whichever path you choose

As today becomes tomorrow

My love you’ll never lose

Whether we are close together

Or many states apart

In any type of weather

You are always in my heart

In purple I see your face

In butterflies I see your smile

No relations could replace

Our special soul sista style

To no other love could I compare

The unique bond that we both share

I am feeling ready to introduce my novel featuring polar bears entitled True North.  I just handed over the first three chapters to Jake Whiting for editing.  Stay tuned for postings and watch for The Writer’s Page link to be added to this site.  Here is some verse to give you an idea about True North

True North

Sometimes a dead end
Is just a moment to make a choice
Survey the situation
And listen to your inner voice

When you are troubled or confused
And don’t know how to move forth
Trust in your own direction
And head for True North

I look forward to sharing more of this polar bear story as I proceed with editing.

My husband Jim and I are beginning to celebrate our 10th anniversary this weekend.  I thought it would be nice to start off with some Personal Verse.  Feel free to use this poem and maybe change a few words to give it to your spouse, family member, friend or any relationship that you cherish.

When I gaze lovingly upon you
I am able to see God’s perfection
and as I learn to do this with others
I become brighter with each reflection

For this is a Holy Relationship
one in which we blossom and grow
supporting each other’s decisions
and the path each chooses to follow

Most times we travel together
and quite often venture out on our own
resting in our heartfelt connection
and the love that is so deeply known

Though in moments we struggle with ego
and criticize, whine or complain
one of us usually chooses to see Peace
and once more our minds become sane

A sense of humor, oh so essential
we’ve known far more laughter than tears
A joyous bond that has held us so close
during a wonderful marriage of ten years!

Strives Born of Struggles

As a baby we crawled for miles
Before we learned to walk
We mumbled incoherently
Before we learned to talk
I believe God gave us these struggles
So we would understand
That life’s not easy for babies
And it’s even harder as a man
You see, if we never struggled
Then we would never grow
If you don’t take the time to learn
Then you’ll never ever know
It took me many years
Before I could clearly see
The simplicity and the genius
Combined in God’s plan for me
For how could I appreciate
The joys God has sent my way
If it wasn’t for the pains
I survived from day to day
Without knowing both
How could I compare
How could I understand
If I had not been here
I couldn’t appreciate the struggle
If I never had to fight
If it hadn’t been for darkness
I would never have known the glory of the light
That’s why I am grateful for my trials
For my tears, and for my pain
For they taught me appreciation, gave me wisdom
Both of which are eternal gains

Happy here and now
in this space and time
this moment is Heaven
a window to the Divine

Content to simply be
exactly where I am
not trying to change
or come up with any plan

Thoughts simply fade
as I tune in with Spirit
it is only here and now
that I am able to hear it

That still soft voice
sweet, gentle and true
there is no place I must go
there is nothing I must do

But stay here and listen
to the song of my heart
harmony in Oneness
from which I never part

When I hear the same suggestion from many different sources, I better listen.  Over the past week I have heard from several people that Personal Verse should offer song lyrics.  So, here is a lyrical version of an earlier post, “Truth is True”.  Only lyrics are offered, as the extent of my musical talent ended in the fifth grade with my rendition on the trumpet of “This Land Is Your Land” at the school recital.  It sounded like I was playing underwater as I forgot to empty the spit valve.  But I digress…

Truth is True

Let go of your denial
