Assassin Promises Big Night

Dancehall's agent, Assassin aka Agent Sasco, is reassuring the Sumfest audience of his plans to provide a special set when they come out to see him on July 25. "I always give 100 per cent on any stage, and Sumfest is certainly no different. Being one of the premier events, I always try to represent myself, my craft, and my industry well," said Agent Sasco.

Over the years, Assassin has built his reputation as easily one of the best and most consistent deejays to have emerged on the dancehall scene with his collection of impressive hits such as Gully Sit'n, Girls Gone Wild, and Idiot Ting Dat.

A recurring act on Dancehall night, Assassin will be making his fifth performance at the reggae festival and patrons must expect his signature relaxed but highly skilled delivery.

Assassin, who is known for his mighty performances, was dubbed one of the best acts after his set at the 2011 staging of the show. With a catalogue spanning many years and a loyal and supportive fan base, there is no doubt that the artiste will deliver and 'run the place' on Dancehall Night 2013.

Assassin is currently booming on local radio stations with his recently released hit single Shell. The song is featured on JA Productions 'Afterlife' rhythm. Other recent releases include Tell Unnuh; How Yuh Mean, featuring Ankle Socks (Twin of Twins character); and Material Girl.

According to the deejay, "These are the summer hits you need to listen out for."

Reggae Sumfest kicks off with the beach party on July 21 and moves into Dancehall Night, July 25 and International Nights 1 and 2, July 26-27.

The 2013 Sumfest line-up includes a host of other must-see local artistes along with international headliners Miguel and Flo Rida.

DeMarco set for tour in Australia, Canada

Back from his month-long sojourn in Africa and currently featured in a six-page spread of the July edition of Canada's L3 Magazine, DeMarco is now making final preparations for his upcoming tour of Australia and Canada. According to a release sent to THE STAR, the artiste is expected to headline a five-concert series in Canada this summer before jetting down to Australia for a four-city tour commencing September. The Australian trip will also mark DeMarco's inaugural visit to the continent. While there, he'll make stops in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney as part of his ongoing quest to blanket the globe with his brand of music. Last weekend, the release stated, DeMarco delivered a spirited performance to revellers at the Washington DC Carnival in the US. He was said to have left directly from the island's airport to the set of his latest video shoot forApartment featured on the newly released Seduction Rhythm. "Due to my hectic travel schedule I don't get to spend enough time in Jamaica, so I have to use every opportunity to connect with the fans and remain current. Therefore, if it means leaving from the airport to shoot a video then catch another flight to somewhere else, then that's what I'll do." DeMarco said in the release. Meanwhile, with singles such as Continue Whine, Badman World and Money threatening the top spot on several charts, DeMarco and his team will be releasing the official video for the latter in the coming days. Dj Rasta is back with the 3rd installment in the highly successful mixtape series 'Dj Rasta Goes To Jamaica Inna Dancehall Stylee'. The original release for the series was originally released in 2008 upon Dj Rasta's return from his first trip to Jamaica. The mixtape was inspired in bringing both his experiences & what was hot in Jamaica back to Australia. The mixtape was an immediate success with over 1000 mixtapes copies being distributed.

The third edition is based on this years trip back to Jamaica where Dj Rasta played 'Fully Loaded' for the second time. This years edition featured djs/sounds Green Lantern, Baby Drew (Chris Browns Dj, Black Kat, Sky Juice, Barrier Free & artistes included Bounty Kiler, Beenie Man, Capleton, Elephant Man & ANG. Future Soundz was rated up with the best performances of the night, with tweets going thru the roof & making into The Jamaican Star's Review.

The mixtape has 64 of the hottest Dancehall tunes from Mavado, Bounty Killer, Opal, Vybz Kartel, Assassin & More. Also included is the Dubplates, Future Soundz used in their performance @ Fully Loaded.

On the 16th July Perthdancehall.blogspot.com will be traveling to Jamaica. In this time we will be giving you an up to the time in site in regards to travelling to the Dancehall Mecca. This will include Reviews from World Class Festivals REGGAE SUMFEST, FULLY LOADED, ST. MARY MI COME FROM & MANCHESTER FIESTA. We will also be travelling into the hottest nightspots Weddy Weddy, The Building as well as getting Dubplates from the biggest Dancehall Artistes.

There will also be footage of the full performance of Australia's own Future Soundz as they play Fully Loaded 2011. This will be second time at the event, with Dj Rasta representing in 2009.

Hailing from the ghetto community of Salt Spring, Jamaica, Jesse Proverbs is a singer very much in the style of Luciano, Dennis Brown and Sugar Minott. He honed his skills as a youth on Jamaican Sound Systems such as OUTLAW MUSIC, GHETTO INTERNATIONAL SOUND, TICKA MUSIC and ELECTROFORCE. Jesse has shared the stage with such reggae luminaries as Lieutenant Stitchie, Little John, Frankie Paul and Terry Ganzie. In 2004 he signed with Tuff Gong (Bob Marleys Label & studio), and in February 2009 he performed for Tuff Gong Records in Jamaica at the Bob Marley Festival at Nine Mile (Bob Marleys birthplace), to more than 3,500 reggae fans. Now residing in Adelaide, Jesse Proverbs is touring Australia to launch the Australian release of his album “Chapter and Verse”, recorded in the UK. Jesse will be performing with
HARRY CULTURE (TRINIDAD/CAIRNS) a Trinidadian born selecta who in 2008 performed nationally with Jamaican reggae star Bushman on his Australian tour, and in 2010 played as support to Turbulence in Queensland.

Ali MC NEW DUB CITY SOUND

New Dub City Sound are part soundsystem, part musical collaboration, part live show led by producer/ frontman Ali MC, New Dub City Sound is a mash up of reggae, dub, hiphop and dancehall, delivered with a punk attitude. Ali collaborated with producers, artists and musicians from around the world, including UK Metalheadz dub and drum n bass producer Mikal, and Jamaican born New York bred graphic designer Freestylee. In February 2011 Ali MC and New Dub City Sound released a limited edition 7 inch Dub in Liberia, which followed the online single and film clip release Welcome to Melbourne, Ali's take on Damien Marley's seminal Welcome to Jamrock. New Dub City Sound are set to release their debut album Home. Released by Raspect Records, Home will be available in stores around Australia and New Zealand from June 10 and at the live shows in WA.

With local support from RTRFM'S The Empressions and The Jamdown Kingz, catch this amazing reggae tour on their only WA shows on Friday 17th June at Bar Orient in Fremantle and on Saturday 18th June at Bar 138 in Perth.

In addition to this our special guest all the way from Melbourne will be the man RANKIN YONI who not only being the founder of Australia’s no.1 website for all things reggae ‘OZREGGAE’ but has worked in studio’s in Jamaica and is one of the most knowledgeable selectors in the business.
But wait there’s more!!!! Also playing on the night will be some of Fisherman friends from over the last five years – original soulja CHOPPA CRUCIAL, the no.1 lady EMPRESS CORBY, the man BUSHA D, DERUKI and the original bro DUBHEAP!!!
