&lt;br /&gt;
By Chris Sherwood, &lt;a class="zem_slink" href="http://www.ehow.com/" rel="homepage" target="_blank" title="eHow"&gt;eHow&lt;/a&gt; Contributor&lt;br /&gt;
What is Frontline?&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Frontline is the number one specialty product used to kill flea infestations on household &lt;a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pet" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Pet"&gt;pets&lt;/a&gt;, such as cats and dogs. The product comes in three forms: Frontline Spray which is used only by &lt;a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veterinarian" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Veterinarian"&gt;veterinarians&lt;/a&gt; for severe outbreaks, Frontline Topspot for home use to kill hatched adult &lt;a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flea" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Flea"&gt;fleas&lt;/a&gt;, and Frontline Plus which kills adult fleas, as well as their eggs and larvae.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
How Does It Work?&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Frontline can kill up to 100 percent of fleas present on your household pet. It works by its active ingredient, fipronil. Fipronil is absorbed through your pet's skin and into its &lt;a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_gland" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Oil gland"&gt;oil glands&lt;/a&gt;. This allows Frontline to be released to your pet's &lt;a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hair_follicle" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Hair follicle"&gt;hair follicles&lt;/a&gt; and skin every time the oil glands are activated. Frontline stays in the &lt;a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Animal"&gt;animals&lt;/a&gt;' oil glands for up to a month, effectively keeping them flea free. All it takes to kill the fleas is contact with Frontline. Frontline also prevents &lt;a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tick" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Tick"&gt;tick infestations&lt;/a&gt;. The treatment should be repeated every 30 days.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
How Long Does It Take?&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Most fleas will die within 18 hours of first contact with a treated pet. Ticks may take up to two days to die. After application to your animals skin, translocation (or movement of Frontline from the application area to the rest of the animals body) can take up to 24 hours. After that point, any tick or flea that comes in contact with your pets hair coat will die.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Pet Safety&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Frontline Spot and Frontline Plus, are both largely safe for all animals, including puppies older than eight weeks, or animals that are pregnant or nursing. However, in rare instances, some pets may develop sensitivity to the product, manifested by irritation at the application spot. In most cases this is harmless, but if the irritation continues for more than a week or increases, you should contact your vet.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Common Questions&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
One common concern that some Frontline users have is the appearance of more fleas directly after treatment. This happens because the Frontline causes the existing fleas to move away from the surface of the &lt;a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Animal"&gt;animal&lt;/a&gt; and towards the tip of the coat. This makes them more easily seen by the naked eye.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Frontline users should also know that the product is waterproof. Since the product is stored in your pet's oil glands, it continues to be distributed after you wash your pet.&lt;br /&gt;

There is even a term that says that the worm and dogs like ice cream and cake. For it is very important to know what types of worms that attack dog. Here are described some of the &lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;worm &lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt;normally found in dogs.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Dog intestinal worms&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
There are five intestinal worms - or parasite - that can affect your dog. They are roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, whipworms and heartworms.&lt;br /&gt;
Not intestinal parasites&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
One other worms that can infect your dog instead of intestinal parasites. This is a ringworm that, despite its name, actually mushrooms.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Roundworms&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
This is the most common type of worm that tends to infect your dog. They are generally 2-4 inches long, brown or white and "spaghetti-like" creatures with tapered ends.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
If your &lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;dog&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt; becomes infected with roundworms, may experience vomiting, diarrhea, and shows a generally unhealthy appearance. If it becomes very full, it may pass the whole worms in his stool. These worms can cause intestinal blockage.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Most of the dogs are actually born with microscopically small roundworm larvae in their tissues. These worms migrate to the mother's womb, then right into the growing puppy. Roundworms can also be transferred to nurse a dog through its mother's milk.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Tapeworm&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Tapeworm segments are usually 1/4-1/2 inch long. When the tapeworm segments dry they tend to look like a grain of rice or sesame seeds.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Tapeworms live in the small intestine of dogs and steal nutrients from the food your dog consumes.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Dog tapeworm symptoms including abdominal discomfort, nervousness, itching around the anus, vomiting, and weight loss&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The only way he could get a dog tapeworms is by eating an infected flea.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
When your dog ingests fleas, digested, releasing a small tapeworm. Tapeworms attach themselves to your dog's intestinal wall. Initially, the worm is only the head, throat and segments. The worm then starts a new segment to grow, each having its own digestive and reproductive systems. These worms eat up the nutrients in your dog's food as it passes by in the intestine. Finally, the worm warehouse of the older segment. When dry, they look like tiny grains of rice or sesame seeds.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Each segment contains thousands of worm eggs.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Tapeworms can grow up to 15 feet long and the largest ever found was a tapeworm almost 60 feet long&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Hookworms&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Dogs Hookworms are parasitic nematode worms that live in the &lt;b&gt;small intestine dogs&lt;/b&gt;. They are like earthworms in that they are bilateral - which means that you can cut one in half and worms will be the same on each side.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Hookworm Typical symptoms include itchy feet, rash on legs dog, wheezing and coughing, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea and blood in the stool or black stools.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Both puppies and adult dogs can suffer from anemia and even death - when infected with hookworm. These worms enter through the skin of your dog and then move through the skin to the lungs where they usually cough and then swallowed. Hookworm is different from other intestinal parasites in that they feed on blood of dogs. Puppies are very susceptible to hookworms and can die from hookworm infection.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Hookworm is difficult to diagnose because they usually do not pass in the stool. In most cases, the only way they can be diagnosed by stool tests are performed by your veterinarian.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;How so hookworms can affect your dog&lt;/b&gt; depends on the overall health and age.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Whipworm&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Like hookworms, whipworms bury their heads into the dog and suck their blood. They live in the cecum, the first part of the intestine of the dogs. These worms get their name from their whip-like shape.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
A dog's reaction to whipworms are usually relatively mild, although exceptions do occur. Severe infections can cause attacks of diarrhea and bloody stools may be fresh. Young dogs or dogs with chronic infections may suffer from severe weight loss, dehydration from diarrhea, and anemia.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The dog must swallow whipworm eggs to become infected.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
A whip worm infestations can cause severe infections which, in turn, causes diarrhea, weight loss and blood loss. This worm is strong and can survive outdoors in soil for many years.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
If your dog shows chronic weight loss and feces which apparently covered with substances such as mucus, may have whipworms and will require medication whipworm&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
It is usually difficult to prove that the dog has whipworms because they produce relatively few eggs. So, even if you see some samples of dog feces, you may not see whipworms.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Is there a strong possibility that your dog may become infected again? In this case, repeated wormings may be necessary.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Rarely causes death of the dog hookworm, but they can be a real nuisance for dogs.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Liver fluke / &lt;/b&gt;&lt;b&gt;Heartworms&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Heartworms&lt;/b&gt; are very dangerous because they can actually kill your dog. In addition, it can be as long as nine months since your dog become infected with heartworms to mature and the threat to the &lt;a href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/11/what-you-should-know-about-pet-health.html" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;b&gt;life of your dog&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/a&gt;. Scary part is that all this time you will not know the dog has become infected. This is why the liver fluke is often called the "invisible killer."&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Unfortunately, your dog will show symptoms of heartworm disease liver fluke after becoming an adult and are at the heart and lungs dog. &lt;b&gt;The symptoms of heartworm disease&lt;/b&gt; at this stage include a dull coat, weight loss, difficulty breathing, fainting, and abdominal bloating. In the end, the dog will suffer from congestive heart failure.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The only way you can contact the dog heartworms is if bitten by a mosquito that has given the other dogs infected with heartworms. When a mosquito ingests a blood meal from an infected dog, ingests too small, microscopic creatures called microfilariae. When the mosquito next feeds on your dog, microfilariae are deposited on the skin. Sixty to 90 days, then they broke through and entered one of the arteries dogs, they are then transported to the heart of the dog. These microfilariae will then develop into adult heartworms, which, if untreated, it can clog your dog's heart and lungs and cause death.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The only way &lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;heartworms &lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;can be diagnosed is through a blood test administered by your veterinarian. If you live in warm, wet like the south, or areas where mosquitoes are prevalent, you should have your veterinarian give your dog these blood tests as part of its routine inspection, yearly. In this way, if already infected with heartworms your veterinarian can begin treatment before it is too late.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Dogs infected with adult heartworms can still be saved through a series of injections that your vet will give at a rate of two per day for two days.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;Ringworms&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;Ringworms not an intestinal parasite&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt;, but a fungal infection that can have an effect on your dog's appearance and health.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
One clear sign of ringworm is a small area of fur on your dog. This area will also have pustules and scaly skin. The dog will scratch the itching that causes ringworm. If the area is not treated, it will grow larger over time. Dog legs, head and tail of the most common areas for ringworm lesions.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
If your dog ringworm contact will usually take it from its surroundings - cages, animal burrows, or from other infected animal.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
If you believe your dog may have ringworm, take it to the vet. He can diagnose the disease and then advise you as an anti-fungal pills or topical medications would be best to rid your dog of this disorder.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Preventing worm infestations&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The best way to &lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;prevent &lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt;your dog from contacting each type of worm is to take the annual exams. While you're there, you can ask your vet to recommend a broad spectrum of preventive products. The latest of these products will protect your dog against &lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;heartworms, roundworms, whipworms, and even lice&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Be sure to keep your dog flea free because only through fleas that your dog can contact tapeworm.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Try not to expose your dog to a wild animal or &lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;wildlife&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;, because they often carry fleas and other parasites. Also, it's a good idea to keep your dog away from the dog park is not well maintained, as this can be a source of parasite&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Keep your dog from eating animal carcasses, such as birds, mice and rabbits. It can bring a dead adult worms which then grow into adult worms after your dog ingests them.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Do not let your dog eat the feces of either your own or from other dogs or animals.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Check your dog's anus and feces regularly and look for signs of tapeworms. As indicated above, a small segment of the tapeworm, broad and flat and resemble grains of rice.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Finally, the veterinarian has examined specimens of dog waste when it has an annual inspection.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
As you can see, there are a number of parasites that can infect your dog. This makes a double imperative that you take your dog in for a routine check-up because this is the only way to ensure it remains parasite free.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/982482134033868055-4451151497259200895?l=u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~4/SXv0FbAwPUA" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</content><link rel="replies" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/feeds/4451151497259200895/comments/default" title="Post Comments" /><link rel="replies" type="text/html" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2012/01/worms-in-dogs.html#comment-form" title="0 Comments" /><link rel="edit" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/4451151497259200895?v=2" /><link rel="self" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/4451151497259200895?v=2" /><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~3/SXv0FbAwPUA/worms-in-dogs.html" title="Worms in dogs : Common types of worms that infect dogs." /><author><name>Admin</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail" width="16" height="16" src="http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif" /></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hvbC3PtCArc/Twqqm0UZ2nI/AAAAAAAAAW0/q9aoVChuQrE/s72-c/worms+in+dogs.jpg" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total><feedburner:origLink>http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2012/01/worms-in-dogs.html</feedburner:origLink></entry><entry gd:etag="W/&quot;D0UBSXcyfCp7ImA9WhRREUo.&quot;"><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-982482134033868055.post-2162011114937652149</id><published>2011-11-24T14:54:00.001-08:00</published><updated>2011-11-24T14:54:18.994-08:00</updated><app:edited xmlns:app="http://www.w3.org/2007/app">2011-11-24T14:54:18.994-08:00</app:edited><title>Funtastic Tales</title><content type="html">

My name is Fun London. I have many interests and activities but wherever life takes me, I insist on one important ingredient―fun. I love to have fun which is how I got my name. One way I share my fun with others is through writing. I like to write stories that are fun, that have action, that entertain, that make us laugh and remind us that life can be an adventure. In this book you will find three of my favorite tales.&lt;br /&gt;The Dog Prince is a classic fairy tale in which you'll travel back in time to the land of Brink where a dog becomes the prince of an entire country.&lt;br /&gt;The Wonderkind is a fanciful tale about a boy who falls overboard and finds himself in the amazing world of an ancient race living beneath the surface of the earth.&lt;br /&gt;In Lost in the Woods you will meet Jack, a boy whose tragic life desperately needs a little magic. Jack gets some unexpected help from Allen, a talking squirrel who leads him on an adventure in the woods.&lt;br /&gt;Although my sto! ries are often read by young people, many adults find them entertaining too. They are written for the children in us all.&lt;br /&gt;It is with great pleasure that I present these tales to you.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;hr/&gt; &lt;h2&gt;Product Details&lt;/h2&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;li&gt;Amazon Sales Rank: #200110 in eBooks &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;Published on: 2011-11-19&lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;Released on: 2011-11-19&lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;Format: Kindle eBook&lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;Number of items: 1&lt;/li&gt; &lt;/ul&gt; &lt;span style="font-size:10px"&gt;&lt;a href="http://taskpost.net/"&gt;Auto Post&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/982482134033868055-2162011114937652149?l=u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~4/1TRZR5BzR_0" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</content><link rel="replies" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/feeds/2162011114937652149/comments/default" title="Post Comments" /><link rel="replies" type="text/html" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/11/funtastic-tales.html#comment-form" title="0 Comments" /><link rel="edit" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/2162011114937652149?v=2" /><link rel="self" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/2162011114937652149?v=2" /><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~3/1TRZR5BzR_0/funtastic-tales.html" title="Funtastic Tales" /><author><name>Admin</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail" width="16" height="16" src="http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif" /></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-TewvYA4ZxQk/TrKp41QAl2I/AAAAAAAAAHQ/rV12H5Z3Oto/s72-c/buy-at-amazon.png" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total><feedburner:origLink>http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/11/funtastic-tales.html</feedburner:origLink></entry><entry gd:etag="W/&quot;D0YCR3cyeip7ImA9WhRREUo.&quot;"><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-982482134033868055.post-689258412046252197</id><published>2011-11-24T14:52:00.001-08:00</published><updated>2011-11-24T14:52:46.992-08:00</updated><app:edited xmlns:app="http://www.w3.org/2007/app">2011-11-24T14:52:46.992-08:00</app:edited><title>Equinox, A Short Story</title><content type="html">

Her only company is Plato, the devoted orange tabby cat who is her long-time companion. She expected more from life when she married Arthur. He had his shortcomings, but he was a good man who provided well for her until he was killed in an accident at the mine. Essie takes comfort in her natural surroundings&amp;mdash;the sunny hillside Arthur chose for a home site, the trees he planted so many years ago, the flowers and shrubs she tends with loving care.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But it seems that this winter has gone on forever, and Essie is low on hope. She spends her time dreaming of things that might have been. When she was a girl, before she met Arthur, men found her pretty and desirable. Oh, the way that Mr. Pratt looked at her! But those days are gone and will never come again. Now it takes Plato, always at her side, to make the discovery that on! ce again brightens her outlook on life. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;hr/&gt; &lt;h2&gt;Product Details&lt;/h2&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;li&gt;Amazon Sales Rank: #232836 in eBooks &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;Published on: 2011-03-31&lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;Released on: 2011-03-31&lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;Format: Kindle eBook&lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;Number of items: 1&lt;/li&gt; &lt;/ul&gt; &lt;span style="font-size:10px"&gt;&lt;a href="http://taskpost.net/"&gt;Auto Post&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/982482134033868055-689258412046252197?l=u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~4/y2KxASNFDDY" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</content><link rel="replies" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/feeds/689258412046252197/comments/default" title="Post Comments" /><link rel="replies" type="text/html" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/11/equinox-short-story.html#comment-form" title="0 Comments" /><link rel="edit" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/689258412046252197?v=2" /><link rel="self" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/689258412046252197?v=2" /><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~3/y2KxASNFDDY/equinox-short-story.html" title="Equinox, A Short Story" /><author><name>Admin</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail" width="16" height="16" src="http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif" /></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-TewvYA4ZxQk/TrKp41QAl2I/AAAAAAAAAHQ/rV12H5Z3Oto/s72-c/buy-at-amazon.png" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total><feedburner:origLink>http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/11/equinox-short-story.html</feedburner:origLink></entry><entry gd:etag="W/&quot;D0QDQH8yfSp7ImA9WhRREUo.&quot;"><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-982482134033868055.post-7105921553888531598</id><published>2011-11-24T14:51:00.001-08:00</published><updated>2011-11-24T14:56:11.195-08:00</updated><app:edited xmlns:app="http://www.w3.org/2007/app">2011-11-24T14:56:11.195-08:00</app:edited><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="dog" /><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Exotic Pets" /><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Pets Book story" /><title>Silent Night: A Raine Stockton Dog Mystery (Volume 5)</title><content type="html">

&lt;br /&gt;

The smell is familiar to the parent hamsters, so the parent alleges that the smell is not the smell of her son.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/982482134033868055-2052438928874005848?l=u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~4/tZp8z4Vz29s" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</content><link rel="replies" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/feeds/2052438928874005848/comments/default" title="Post Comments" /><link rel="replies" type="text/html" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/09/knowledge-about-hamsters-compulsory-you.html#comment-form" title="0 Comments" /><link rel="edit" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/2052438928874005848?v=2" /><link rel="self" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/2052438928874005848?v=2" /><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~3/tZp8z4Vz29s/knowledge-about-hamsters-compulsory-you.html" title="Knowledge About Hamsters: Compulsory You Know Before Buying a Hamster" /><author><name>Admin</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail" width="16" height="16" src="http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif" /></author><thr:total>0</thr:total><feedburner:origLink>http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/09/knowledge-about-hamsters-compulsory-you.html</feedburner:origLink></entry><entry gd:etag="W/&quot;D0YBR306cCp7ImA9WhdRFkk.&quot;"><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-982482134033868055.post-5582065989802521086</id><published>2011-08-06T08:02:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2011-08-06T08:39:16.318-07:00</updated><app:edited xmlns:app="http://www.w3.org/2007/app">2011-08-06T08:39:16.318-07:00</app:edited><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Rescues and Shelters" /><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Health" /><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Rabbit" /><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Pet" /><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Recreation" /><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Domestic rabbit" /><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Animal" /><title>The Best Rabbit Care and Tips</title><content type="html">

Children often desire &lt;a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pet" rel="wikipedia" title="Pet"&gt;pets&lt;/a&gt; more than adults do as they think animals are cute and fun to have. Adults of course know the work required. Like any pet, &lt;a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit" rel="wikipedia" title="Rabbit"&gt;rabbits&lt;/a&gt; need care. They need to go to the vet, get feed daily, and have their domain cleaned. When you decide to purchase a rabbit, you will need to know exactly what is required of you.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Before we get into your rabbits needs, you will want to know a few of the species available.&amp;nbsp; Most common are cottontails, dwarf, and lop eared rabbits for pets. The &lt;a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwarf_rabbit" rel="wikipedia" title="Dwarf rabbit"&gt;dwarf rabbit&lt;/a&gt; is small and best kept indoors, while the cottontails are not as sensitive to the weather and can be housed outside in moderate climates. The lop eared rabbits like the cottontails grow to be a good size and have long floppy ears. The type of rabbit you wish to have for a pet will in part decide on the care.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
First like cats and dogs, rabbits require shots from the vet to keep them in good health.&amp;nbsp; People carry diseases that can harm animals if we do not wash before and after we handle our pet. Rabbits can be susceptible to worms and other dietary parasites so it is important to take your rabbit for its vet visit when needed. Speak with a vet about your rabbit’s care and any questions you may have before you complete your purchase.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Rabbits eat pellets, hay and vegetables. Most rabbits like to munch on carrots or lettuce. You want to feed your rabbit everyday to ensure they are receiving the proper amount of food. Unlike cats that eat when they are hungry, a rabbit can &lt;a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overeating" rel="wikipedia" title="Overeating"&gt;over eat&lt;/a&gt; and become over weight.&amp;nbsp; Some commercial feeds for rabbits contain nuts; however, these are typically not good as they are high in fiber. You can feed your rabbit fruit as a treat, but you should not do so daily.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Housing for a rabbit can be in your home or if you wish to keep them outside a wooden cage will work. Most outside cages are designed to let the waste fall through so they are not sitting on it or laying on it. The cage should be built large enough to house an adult rabbit with bedding spread out to make a nice little home. They should be given plenty of water and have it changed out daily. Having a backyard for your pet rabbit is a great idea. They can roam for a little exercise, which all pets need. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
You will want to clean their cages out at least once a week or more depending on how messy or smelly it becomes. Your rabbit needs a clean environment just like you to eliminate the possibilities of disease. An important factor in having a long living rabbit is their environment. Most rabbits live 5 to 10 years.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Rabbits with their fuzzy cottontails or floppy ears are just some of the cutest pets you can own. They are a medium maintenance pet with proper &lt;a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eating" rel="wikipedia" title="Eating"&gt;feeding&lt;/a&gt; and environment care you can have your rabbit for years. Your children will enjoy showing off their pet rabbit to all their friends and beg you to take him to show and tell.&amp;nbsp; Pets are needed to complete a family and provide enjoyment for everyone. &lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Mike Scharf, the O. Wayne Rollins/Orkin Chair in Molecular Physiology  and Urban Entomology, said his laboratory has discovered a cocktail of  enzymes from the guts of termites that may be better at getting around  the barriers that inhibit fuel production from woody biomass. The Scharf &lt;b&gt; Laboratory &lt;/b&gt;found that &lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;enzymes &lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt;in termite guts are instrumental in the  insects' ability to break down the wood they eat.&lt;br /&gt;
The findings, published in the early online version of the journal  PLoS One, are the first to measure the sugar output from enzymes created  by the termites themselves and the output from symbionts, small  protozoa that live in termite guts and aid in digestion of woody  material.&lt;br /&gt;
"For the most part, people have overlooked the host &lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;termite &lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;as a  source of enzymes that could be used in the production of biofuels. For a  long time it was thought that the symbionts were solely responsible for  digestion," Scharf said. "Certainly the symbionts do a lot, but what  we've shown is that the host produces enzymes that work in synergy with  the enzymes produced by those symbionts. When you combine the functions  of the host enzymes with the symbionts, it's like one plus one equals  four."&lt;br /&gt;
Scharf and his research partners separated the termite guts, testing  portions that did and did not contain symbionts on sawdust to measure  the sugars created.&lt;br /&gt;
Once the enzymes were identified, Scharf and his team worked with  Chesapeake Perl, a protein production company in Maryland, to create  synthetic versions. The genes responsible for creating the enzymes were  inserted into a virus and fed to caterpillars, which then produce large  amounts of the enzymes. Tests showed that the synthetic versions of the  host termite enzymes also were very effective at releasing sugar from  the biomass.&lt;br /&gt;
They found that the three synthetic enzymes function on different parts of the biomass.&lt;br /&gt;
Two enzymes are responsible for the release of glucose and pentose,  two different sugars. The other enzyme breaks down lignin, the rigid  compound that makes up plant cell walls.&lt;br /&gt;
Lignin is one of the most significant barriers that blocks the access  to sugars contained in biomass. Scharf said it's possible that the  enzymes derived from termites and their symbionts, as well as synthetic  versions, could be more effective at removing that lignin barrier.&lt;br /&gt;
Sugars from plant material are essential to creating biofuels. Those sugars are fermented to make products such as ethanol.&lt;br /&gt;
"We've found a cocktail of enzymes that create sugars from wood,"  Scharf said. "We were also able to see for the first time that the host  and the symbionts can synergistically produce these sugars."&lt;br /&gt;
Next, Scharf said his laboratory and collaborators would work on  identifying the symbiont enzymes that could be combined with termite  enzymes to release the greatest amount of sugars from woody material.  Combining those enzymes would increase the amount of biofuel that should  be available from biomass.&lt;br /&gt;
The U.S. Department of Energy and Chesapeake Perl funded the research.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/h-MM7ZTrogHQf5Kcqfo3iDDOtkg/0/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/h-MM7ZTrogHQf5Kcqfo3iDDOtkg/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/h-MM7ZTrogHQf5Kcqfo3iDDOtkg/1/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/h-MM7ZTrogHQf5Kcqfo3iDDOtkg/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;GAINESVILLE, Fla. — It sounds like a pest control technician’s dream come true — eradicating hard-to-reach underground termite colonies by introducing small quantities of a pathogen or parasite, a practice called biological control.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
But after 50 years of research, scientists have yet to deliver a successful method. Researchers’ efforts have been hindered by flawed experiments and lack of field testing, according to experts with the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Their findings appear in a review article published online this week by the journal Biological Control.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Subterranean termites account for 80 percent of the nation’s annual $4.1 billion in termite control expenses. Colonies can hold anywhere from 100,000 to 1 million of the wood-destroying insects, and miles of pencil-sized tunnels.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In past studies conducted at many institutions, researchers have experimented with fungi, bacteria, nematodes and viruses thought to be promising biological control agents, said Thomas Chouvenc, a postdoctoral associate with UF’s Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center and the review’s lead author. In a typical study, termites in a confined space are exposed to an enemy organism, often at concentrations impossible to achieve in the wild.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
“We can kill a bug in a jar, but the vast majority of these studies don’t describe any way to implement that approach in the real world,” Chouvenc said.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Distributing a pathogen or parasite in a termite colony is no easy task, said Nan-Yao Su, a UF entomology professor at the center and another author of the study. He developed a baiting system widely used to control subterranean termites.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The insects detect and avoid some fungal pathogens, and will close tunnels to confine threats. Other behaviors, such as constant grooming and removal of dead individuals, reduce the likelihood of pathogen transmission.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Among the 227 studies analyzed, many were authored by scientists who were not termite experts and probably had little understanding of the insects’ behavior, Su said.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Biological control of subterranean termites may be possible, he said, but researchers should learn from past mistakes — notably, the focus on soil-dwelling fungi as potential control agents.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
“Termites have lived in the soil with those fungi for millions of years, and they have evolved a wide range of mechanisms to prevent the pathogens from spreading within the colony,” Su said. “You need something that has not co-evolved with termites.”&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The key to success, Chouvenc said, might be finding a pathogen that can spread to other termites before its host dies, not after.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Both researchers say journals are often biased toward publishing studies that show positive results, meaning that scientists may not learn about unsuccessful experiments.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
“We need to encourage negative reporting so we don’t replicate the same mistakes,” Su said.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/z7MiJ5tyKHwPmgtpde_qPccJTJo/0/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/z7MiJ5tyKHwPmgtpde_qPccJTJo/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/z7MiJ5tyKHwPmgtpde_qPccJTJo/1/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/z7MiJ5tyKHwPmgtpde_qPccJTJo/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;It is possible for &lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;children and pets&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt; to coexist in the same household, peacefully. Many people mistakenly think that as soon as they start having children that their pet needs to head to the local shelter. They fear that the cat or dog will not get along with the new child and it will result in biting or scratching. This is not always the case and if you take the time to introduce your pets to your children properly, your kids and pets can live in harmony. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
One of the biggest concerns that new parents have when it comes to pets in the home is how it will react to a baby. Many of the old wives tales such as cats sucking the breath out of babies simply are not true. In fact, many cats and dogs readily accept a new child into the home and become fiercely loyal and protective over the baby. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
When you bring your &lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;baby home&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt; from the hospital, you should introduce your pet to your new baby. Of course, these introductions need supervision. Allow your cat or dog time to sniff your child at his or her own pace. Make the introduction pleasant for your cat or dog. In most cases, your cat or dog will not give your baby a second thought. Allow your pet to adjust to the new situation on his or her own terms. When a baby comes to the house, it is an adjustment for everybody.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The other thing that you might want to consider doing when you bring a baby into the home is to make sure that your cat or dog is properly groomed. This includes trimming your dog or cat nails. Your dog may want to put a paw on your baby.&amp;nbsp; If his or hers nails are long and sharp, your dog may accidentally scratch your infant. While you can never eliminate pet hair from your home, if your dog or cat clipped and brushed it will certainly help your home stay a little cleaner. Many new parents also worry about allergies. The fact is, many studies have shown that children who are exposed to pets from a very young age, actually have less pet allergies than children who are not exposed to pets.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Another good idea is to make sure that your pets do not have access to your baby’s room during naptime or at night without supervision. While your pet probably means no harm to your child, pets are naturally curious. A cat may jump into your infant crib, or in large dogs could easily a knock bassinet or cradle over. You should always supervise your pet when it is around your new baby at all times. Most of all, you should try to make sure that you are still spending quality time with your pet when possible. This especially pertains to dogs, which are used to playing in the backyard and going for walks.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
As your child grows, you need to begin teaching your child proper pet etiquette. If your &lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;dog or cat&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt; has learned to respect your child, then your child also needs to learn to respect your pet. Teach your child from a young age that they should never pull or yank a cat or dog's tail or ears. Your child can learn proper pet etiquette even at a very young age. You will also want to teach your child to respect your pet’s space. This includes making sure that your child understands that he or she should never wake a sleeping pet. This could cause your pet to become startled and could result in biting or scratching.&lt;br /&gt;
In addition, you will want to make sure that your child understands to stay out of your pet’s food, water and litter box. Your child will be naturally curious, so it is always best to give your pet some private space away from your child.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
There are many things you can do to make sure that children and pets coexist peacefully.&amp;nbsp; Your children and pets need to learn to respect each other from the very beginning.&amp;nbsp; There is no reason to get rid of your cat or dog just because you have a child in the home.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/982482134033868055-4866872626821306854?l=u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~4/la1HPWkHFz8" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</content><link rel="replies" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/feeds/4866872626821306854/comments/default" title="Post Comments" /><link rel="replies" type="text/html" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/07/teaching-kids-and-pets-to-co-exist.html#comment-form" title="2 Comments" /><link rel="edit" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/4866872626821306854?v=2" /><link rel="self" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/4866872626821306854?v=2" /><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~3/la1HPWkHFz8/teaching-kids-and-pets-to-co-exist.html" title="Teaching Kids And Pets To Co-Exist Peacefully" /><author><name>Admin</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail" width="16" height="16" src="http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif" /></author><thr:total>2</thr:total><feedburner:origLink>http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/07/teaching-kids-and-pets-to-co-exist.html</feedburner:origLink></entry><entry gd:etag="W/&quot;CkYGSX48fSp7ImA9WhRVEU0.&quot;"><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-982482134033868055.post-2502560548798549627</id><published>2011-07-17T06:26:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2012-01-09T01:08:48.075-08:00</updated><app:edited xmlns:app="http://www.w3.org/2007/app">2012-01-09T01:08:48.075-08:00</app:edited><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Pet Insurance" /><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Pet Health Insurance in California" /><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Pets News" /><title>Pet Health Insurance in California</title><content type="html">
&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/Ru-pWe-X01tdNHMZ6wy2HkKFtDE/0/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/Ru-pWe-X01tdNHMZ6wy2HkKFtDE/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/Ru-pWe-X01tdNHMZ6wy2HkKFtDE/1/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/Ru-pWe-X01tdNHMZ6wy2HkKFtDE/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;In 1849 hundreds of men made the grueling climb across the &lt;b&gt;Rocky mountain&lt;/b&gt; range before stepping onto California's soil.&amp;nbsp; These men, who history remembers as forty-niners, came to California with dreams of striking a mother lode of gold and spending the rest of their days in the lap of luxury. Few of these forty-niners had possessions worth speaking of, just the tattered torn clothes they were wearing, a shovel, a pan specially designed to sift through river sediment, and an old mule to haul their find out of the mountains.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Over a hundred and fifty years have passed since the last forty-niner made their final trek across the Rockies with only his own voice and a cantankerous old mule named Worthless for company.&amp;nbsp; In this new modern world a different type of person is journeying across the country seeking the answers to all their dreams and prayers in the warm California sunlight. Today its students, freshly armed with brand new high school diplomas and a tiny sub-compact car loaded down with expensive clothing and glamour shots, seeking not gold but rather fame under the bright lights of an acting studio. Like the fortey-niners, many of these future stars have only their CD collections and a family pet to keep them company on the long drive across the country.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
What many of these Hollywood hopefuls don't realize is the animal health branch of the &lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;California Department of Food and Agriculture&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt; has rules and regulations for bringing pets into the state. Most of the rules will involve the young pet owner to take their pet to the veterinarian for a round of shots and an exam before leaving for the land of movie stars and millionaires. The purchase of pet health care coverage can sometimes let the youngsters get the routine vet work out of the way without forcing them to dip to heavily into their savings.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Domestic cats that are infected with a contagious disease are not allowed into California. Cats are not required to have a current rabies vaccination nor do they have to have a &lt;u style="color: blue;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;Certificate of Veterinary Inspection&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/u&gt; before they cross the state line into California. They must have a health certificate if they are coming from an area that was under rabies quarantine. If you are coming into the state of California via airplane check with the airline about what health requirements they enforce before allowing your cat to fly. Before you leave your home town for the California shore line, ask your veterinarian what can be done to make the trip as comfortable and safe for your cat.&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;
Just like cats the &lt;u style="color: blue;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;California Department of Food and Agriculture&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/u&gt; will not allow dogs that are carrying an infectious disease to cross the state line into California. Any dog over four months of age is required to a certificate stating the date of its last rabies vaccination, the type of vaccination used, the manufacturer lot number of the rabies vaccine used, and the name of the vet who gave the injection. If you are traveling by plane ask the airline about any additional health requirements your dog must meet before it is allowed to fly. The sooner you contact your airline the better.&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;
If you are bringing a more exotic type of pet, such as a potbellied pig, into the state of California you may be required to have an entry permit.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/982482134033868055-2502560548798549627?l=u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~4/yED8Efxjlwk" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</content><link rel="replies" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/feeds/2502560548798549627/comments/default" title="Post Comments" /><link rel="replies" type="text/html" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/07/pet-health-insurance-in-california.html#comment-form" title="1 Comments" /><link rel="edit" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/2502560548798549627?v=2" /><link rel="self" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/2502560548798549627?v=2" /><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~3/yED8Efxjlwk/pet-health-insurance-in-california.html" title="Pet Health Insurance in California" /><author><name>Admin</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail" width="16" height="16" src="http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif" /></author><thr:total>1</thr:total><feedburner:origLink>http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/07/pet-health-insurance-in-california.html</feedburner:origLink></entry><entry gd:etag="W/&quot;CkADRXs9eSp7ImA9WhdTFEU.&quot;"><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-982482134033868055.post-9186233175380093204</id><published>2011-07-12T07:26:00.001-07:00</published><updated>2011-07-12T07:26:14.561-07:00</updated><app:edited xmlns:app="http://www.w3.org/2007/app">2011-07-12T07:26:14.561-07:00</app:edited><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Tips For Introducing Cats" /><title>Tips For Introducing Cats</title><content type="html">
&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/L2RJTb6YIOGmwpmEmKRbES78fmg/0/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/L2RJTb6YIOGmwpmEmKRbES78fmg/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/L2RJTb6YIOGmwpmEmKRbES78fmg/1/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/L2RJTb6YIOGmwpmEmKRbES78fmg/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;When you decide to add a new cat to your home, it’s normally more exiting for you and your family than it is for the cat you already own. &amp;nbsp;Although most cats are solitary by nature, most will also come to accept or eventually tolerate any additions. &amp;nbsp;Cats can be very territorial, which is why you should always be careful when you introduce a new cat to your current cat.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
If you are introducing kittens to one another, the entire introduction process can be short, lasting as little as 10 – 15 days. &amp;nbsp;Introducing cats to each other all depends on their temperament and their personality. &amp;nbsp;When you introduce a new cat to your current cat, you should always make sure that you give your current cat plenty of love and attention. &amp;nbsp;This way, your cat will feel secure and know that he isn’t in competition with your new cat for affection.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
When you bring your new cat home, you should let him stay in a safe room until you have finished introducing the cats. &amp;nbsp;Your safe room can be any small room in your home, such as a bathroom or spare bedroom. &amp;nbsp; The key here is to use a room that your current cat doesn’t go in. &amp;nbsp;In the room, you should leave your new cat a scratching post, bed, water dish, litter box, and food dish.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
At first, your current cat may howl and hiss when he stands at the door, trying to tell the other cat that he doesn’t belong. &amp;nbsp;When this happens you should ignore it, as punishing your cat for his behavior will only lead to more problems. &amp;nbsp;After a while, the first cat will start to act calm when he is near the new cat’s door. &amp;nbsp;As he starts to act calm, you should pet him and give him praise.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
When your first cat starts to go by your new cat’s door and doesn’t howl or hiss; you can start introducing them to each other. &amp;nbsp;The best way to do this is to get them used to each others scent. &amp;nbsp;You can start letting them eat out of the same food dish, although you’ll want to feed them at different intervals at first. &amp;nbsp;This way, the scent of each cat will be present at the food dish, and each cat will get the scent when he eats his food.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Once both cats have got used to the scent, you can begin to feed them closer together. &amp;nbsp;To do this, you should keep your new cat in the safe room with the door closed, and your first cat on the other side of the door with his food dish. &amp;nbsp;This time, feed both cats at the same time. &amp;nbsp;After doing this a few times, they should start eating without any hissing or growling. &amp;nbsp;At this point, they are ready to be introduced to one another.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
When you introduce them to each other in the same room, a bit of growling and hissing is to be expected. &amp;nbsp;Although they may be used to each others scent; your first cat will still feel a bit awkward with your new cat being in his territory. &amp;nbsp;You should play with them both at first, so they can smell one another and greet in their own way. If they start to fight you should break them up, and give them some time apart.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
It may take some time to get them fully used to one another, although once they do – they will become playmates for life. &amp;nbsp;Cats love to be social, although it may be a bit rough at first, especially for your first cat. &amp;nbsp;Cats can be very territorial, especially if you have a kitten around. &amp;nbsp;If you get both of them used to each other early on – it will be a lot easier to add future cats to your home.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

Like the Bengal Cat, Monkey and Lion Snow Albino.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Monkey, Singan and Chimpanzees are animals we usually encounter in zoos or in the event discovery chanel. But in the United States these animals can be legally purchased.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
www.eldia.com.ar reported that the Bengal cat can be priced between 800 to 1000 dollars. Bengal cats are the result of a cross between a regular cat with Leopard Asia.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Chimpanzees are one of the pets that are very difficult to get it. Because it is difficult to obtain a license legally. So chimps become very expensive price. Reported prices chimpanzee reached 60,000 U.S. dollars.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The last entry into the most expensive animal is the Lion Albino. Reported by price www.eldia.com albino lion reached 135,000 U.S. dollars.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/982482134033868055-6130115365706674903?l=u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~4/1QsE1qdIf50" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</content><link rel="replies" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/feeds/6130115365706674903/comments/default" title="Post Comments" /><link rel="replies" type="text/html" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/06/most-expensive-pets.html#comment-form" title="0 Comments" /><link rel="edit" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/6130115365706674903?v=2" /><link rel="self" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/6130115365706674903?v=2" /><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~3/1QsE1qdIf50/most-expensive-pets.html" title="Most Expensive Pets" /><author><name>Admin</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail" width="16" height="16" src="http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif" /></author><thr:total>0</thr:total><feedburner:origLink>http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/06/most-expensive-pets.html</feedburner:origLink></entry><entry gd:etag="W/&quot;D0QHQXw7eCp7ImA9WhZbFk4.&quot;"><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-982482134033868055.post-9100106142249157010</id><published>2011-06-20T22:48:00.001-07:00</published><updated>2011-06-20T22:48:50.200-07:00</updated><app:edited xmlns:app="http://www.w3.org/2007/app">2011-06-20T22:48:50.200-07:00</app:edited><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Pets News" /><title>The pattern of China's pet food market</title><content type="html">
&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/wqblBVWI29CcG4bQzmY8-B6sVos/0/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/wqblBVWI29CcG4bQzmY8-B6sVos/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/wqblBVWI29CcG4bQzmY8-B6sVos/1/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/wqblBVWI29CcG4bQzmY8-B6sVos/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;Currently, China's pet food market is the kind of situation then we take the dogs and cats, for example, you follow the author to see a simple market analysis.?&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Pet food in the market today can be divided into the following categories:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Pet staple food (cat food, dog food);&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Pet snacks (dogs and cats cans, packages, fresh meat, meat, etc.);&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Pet nutrition health products (dogs and cats of calcium, vitamins, proteins and other nutrients).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Pet goods in China after about 1 0 years of development, Chinese cities pet owners spend a pet growing consumer awareness, consumption of which is the biggest dog food cat food, cat food dog food is second only to pet food, pet nutrition and health care products is growing at an alarming rate to be recognized by most pet owners, the shape of the three mainstream Chinese goods are now pet food consumers.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Dog food cat pet food market is now China's main foreign food giants occupy the three U. S. Mars (pet food first in China to promote a U.S. private food companies, brands Pedigree, Usergroups, Yiwei); Nestle Purina (Nestle's acquisition of pet food currently sold in the Chinese market, the brand has the highest energy, health and more music, hi jump, Jennifer Hi, beautiful music and more); reputation of the European pet food (Mars U.S. foreign-owned a French company, the brand for the Royal French). In recent years, with the inclusion of Nestle Purina, Mars in pet hospitals, pet specialty channel market share for the most part, but the strong Martian channels still remain strong supermarket stores Po Ka Wai growth, but Mars Nestle Purina professional in erosion channels at the same time, the store has followed Mars supermarket channel, and a very short time achieved remarkable results, European reputation responsibility at all costs, to focus more on long-term brand construction, making the brand Royal Canin pet owners always give people feelings of one of the most professional, the product of single A3 French royal dog food has become the fastest growing in the performance of one product. All three foreign companies accounted for the pet food market is currently China's most market share.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In addition to the three foreign animal food companies, has also met many purely foreign imported high-end consumer brand, Procter &amp;amp; Gamble Ai Musi, Eukanuba, Hills Colgate, and snow-capped mountains, natural resources, mining and other foreign brands Ling Of course there are merchants China introduced from Brazil, Australia and other major agricultural brands, today is a noble general, Brazil, Tao Tao, the main agricultural products to foreign products more expensive than European import prices should be lower, so that occupies part of the domestic high-end market share .&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
After the foreign brands, let us look back to see domestic brands. China's largest pet food company is a good pet food company owner (the company that registered Tong Wei Group Inc.), followed by recognition from the standpoint of products, namely, Norrish pet food (from Shanghai, a young company, brand Norrish, Biruiji, Rasa Good, fruit quality, etc.), Tianjin Jin Combo pet food (which is located in Tianjin export processing enterprises, especially in brand-based assets), followed by several regional markets brands, brands, especially in Beijing, Hebei, Shandong regional territory, technology and company personnel are mainly from institutions associated with domestic agricultural higher education. Face of strong foreign brands, domestic brands of pet owners how to get more recognition, I believe that it might take, how to reduce the duration is shorter, I think what we need technology and strong marketing skills to achieve. For example, a good owner Tongwei can be said that in the domestic market has been doing for years, but a good host is not a very good market performance, mainly because of marketing in product definition, positioning, market work. I once saw in a pet store as a promotion, a red banner hanging on the walls of these pets, reminds me of the Ministry of Rural hang banners feed wholesale "Dabeinong ... ..., CP ..., Huadu .... .. hope .... "Although the food of animal feed, poultry and fish, but different pig feed. Consumers really chicken feed chicken, but the money to buy feed to farmers, so the farmer is the pursuit of profit, of course, not high-end consumers, farmers pay more attention to quality and price. Pet is different is that it lives in urban households, the consumer is the real dog food cat food cats and dogs, but the money to buy pet food that pet owners, so pet owners do not pursue profit, pet owners pay more attention to quality , the brand does not focus on price, so they are high-end consumers. The higher accuracy of consumer psychology, the product will be more accepted by consumers.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
So I believe that pet food as we drink, with everyday needs, we need a way to sell consumer goods to move quickly to sell pet food.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Located in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, Shandong coastal pet snacks are also many companies now have foreign pet snacks businesses interested in learning the Chinese market, pet snacks also have to maintain a rapid growth rate. Currently the domestic market on the one hand there is an old pet snacks brands Pedigree, Usergroups, but also mischievous pets in Yantai, Qingdao, there are Japanese companies ina gold treasure rice, etc. The company, relies on overseas markets OEM, ODM, others On the one hand the domestic market also started to expand the brand, but most of the agents in different cities, and do not press the extent of the potential depth of the channel, is still huge room for growth.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Pet nutrition and health care products that rapid sales growth, market, especially calcium, protein, vitamins and several major categories as the main sales categories, new product features consumers need some time to receive the brand overseas, especially in the perfect, Taiwan Haimix, brand Other domestic Imber.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
I believe that domestic companies now need to maintain business operations costs while improving product quality, the art of marketing, brand, accelerate the pace of development, the only way China's own brand of pet food have a better future!&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Zhou Jianfeng, FMCG marketing plan, a global independent research institute, U. S. Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG) group member panel of industry experts, U. S. former Chinese company Mars (Mars is one of the world's largest food company, the world's largest chocolate confectionery and pet food companies), has served in Shanghai Guan Sheng Yuan Group, the Mongolian sheep from Australia Limon (Inner Mongolia) Meat Industry Co., Ltd., the United States pet supplies, pet food Imber, Tianjin Bronte Group and other companies.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/982482134033868055-9100106142249157010?l=u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~4/vAEi74S9J_I" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</content><link rel="replies" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/feeds/9100106142249157010/comments/default" title="Post Comments" /><link rel="replies" type="text/html" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/06/pattern-of-chinas-pet-food-market.html#comment-form" title="1 Comments" /><link rel="edit" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/9100106142249157010?v=2" /><link rel="self" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/9100106142249157010?v=2" /><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~3/vAEi74S9J_I/pattern-of-chinas-pet-food-market.html" title="The pattern of China's pet food market" /><author><name>Admin</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail" width="16" height="16" src="http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif" /></author><thr:total>1</thr:total><feedburner:origLink>http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/06/pattern-of-chinas-pet-food-market.html</feedburner:origLink></entry><entry gd:etag="W/&quot;D0MNR308cCp7ImA9WhZbFk4.&quot;"><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-982482134033868055.post-6345424607691001955</id><published>2011-05-24T08:00:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2011-06-20T22:51:36.378-07:00</updated><app:edited xmlns:app="http://www.w3.org/2007/app">2011-06-20T22:51:36.378-07:00</app:edited><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="canidae" /><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="therapy cats" /><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="PAWS" /><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Guido the Italian Kitty" /><title>On The Job with Guido the Italian Kitty</title><content type="html">

&lt;br /&gt;
My job has no formal Job Description – it’s just my job and I’m fortunate to just wing it at work. People are curious as a cat about what I do as an &lt;a href="http://canidaepetfood.blogspot.com/2011/02/guido-italian-kitty-is-therapy-cat.html"&gt;Animal Assisted Therapy Cat&lt;/a&gt;, so I’m gonna give you a real PURRsonal insight to my having fun on the job with the fantastic seniors at The ARC of San Francisco.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Commuting to my job on a San Francisco cable car is a good way to start my day, (of course I hum the Mice a Roni tune up and over the hills). Sometimes I visit little groups of 20 or a larger group of 55 seniors, all with mental or physical challenges. There’s so many meowvalous activities going on, and I purrticipate in them all! &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
When they sit in chairs at the activity tables, I purrfur to forego the chair to sit on their table, like the crafts table where I check out their balls of colorful yarns and great artwork they’re making. I might put my paw in the watercolor paints (I’ma an artisticat doing paw print paintings) or play hockey with their crayons. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Dominos at the game table are my favorito – just paw tap one and bamzatini they all go down! The clients giggle or say “Oh NO Guido!” Some days I join in card games – just putting my paw on the card they should select. So you see, my job can’t have a job description cuz I always changes what I do on the job.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;a href="http://www.blogger.com/post-edit.g?blogID=982482134033868055&amp;amp;postID=6345424607691001955" name="more"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;Some clients are content with me just sitting close to them, and they massage me so nicely – makes me purr for sure, so going to my job is kind of like going to Spa for me. We ‘shake paws’ and some of them tickle my chin, and it all revs up my purr machine.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
I started working as a therapy cat 3-1/2 years ago, and I’ve seen amazing things happen over the years while on the job working with these special people. It’s taught me that weeza all have challenges and weeza all really the same: just wanting to have a nice day.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Can I share some speshule moments on the job, with you?&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
One reclusive man never talked much – never shaked paws or pet me. After 2 years knowing him on the job, now he jumps up and heads like a bullet towards me and myself when we enter the room, and he also says my name and pats my head nice.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; During a field trip with his group to the grocery store, he saw my momma in the aisle and ran to her giving her a peck on the cheekie and said loudly “Geedoe – Geedoe – where Geedoe?” This is purrcisely why I love my job.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
When a client passed away, me and myself was invited to the funeral cuz I knew her (she always cupped my face in her hands and told me she loved me!). I was catnapping the day of the funeral so I sent a Flat Cat Guido with my Staff to the funeral home. When the Staff entered holding my life size paper cut-out self, a bunch of clients saw me and jumped up out of the pews and raced over and petted me and squealed and carried my flat cat self up to the coffin placing me upon it saying “Guido gonna guard her.” It was something, and the Priest almost fainted when he turned around to sprinkle the Holy water on the coffin and was facing me and my meowster self!&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
My job izza the mostest impurrtant job I’ve ever had, and the pay is super high: unlimited overtime purrs galore! Now that I’m getting older, I’m not gonna slow down, but I’m gonna speed up at work to keep up with the fabulous seniors at The ARC of San Francisco. It’s my meowvalous birthday month, and I’m turning 5 on May 26th. You can give me the happiest birthday gift ever by &lt;a href="http://www.pawssf.org/page.aspx?pid=611"&gt;helping me help PAWS&lt;/a&gt;, which stands for “Pets Are Wonderful Support.” And you don’t even have to wrap up this present! &lt;br /&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/Rxek0H-nxHacVWkdjLoF3UNIcPw/0/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/Rxek0H-nxHacVWkdjLoF3UNIcPw/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/Rxek0H-nxHacVWkdjLoF3UNIcPw/1/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/Rxek0H-nxHacVWkdjLoF3UNIcPw/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;To keep your cat healthy a majority of time, all you really need to do is give him good shelter, food, and plenty of water.  Like other living things however, cats can get sick from time to time no matter what you do.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As a cat owner, you’ll want to ensure that you feed your cat only the best.  Premium cat food is the ideal for cats, as the food is designed to keep your pet happy and healthy.  You’ll also need to pay attention to his behavior, so you’ll know when he’s sick and when to take him to the vet.  Most of the more common ailments and sicknesses are minor, although there are some cases where a vet can be the determining factor between life and death for your cat.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a name='more'&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Your cat’s behavior will be one of the most critical factors when you are trying to determine whether or not he is under the weather.  Acting sluggish, laying around all the time, lack of energy and not eating are all signs that you need to take him to the vet immediately.  His coat is also a good thing to watch as well.  If you notice his coat dull and patchy or notice him shedding abnormally, you should contact your vet as soon as you possibly can.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Diarrhea and vomiting are sometimes common, even with basic sickness.  On the other hand, if your cat seems to be doing either one of the two for more than a day, you should contact your veterinarian.  Coughing is common as well, simply because coughing will cats dislodge hairballs.  If your cat seems to be coughing for another reason, you should have him checked out as soon as possible.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To ensure that your cat isn’t subjected to various diseases, you should always make sure that he stays up do date with his vaccinations. There are several diseases out there that require vaccinations, including rabies and feline distemper.  Feline distemper is one of most devastating diseases a cat can get, yet it is also one of the easiest to prevent as well.  The disease strikes cats very fast, and leaves you as an own very little time to seek treatment.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Feline leukemia is another disease that is very deadly, yet can be prevented early on with the proper vaccinations.  Although the disease isn’t possible for humans to contract, it can be spread quickly among cats.  There are vaccinations that can treat the disease these days, although you’ll still want to be careful and not expose other cats around a cat you know has feline leukemia. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another problem, which is very common with cats that stay outdoors, is worms.  Cats that have worms will normally have a lackluster coat and little to no appetite.   There are several different types of worms, including ringworm and hookworm.  Worms can come from fleas, lice, or even the organs of dead rodents that cats consume.  Normally, the cat will digest the eggs which will later mature and attach themselves to the walls of the intestines.  If you feed your cat garlic frequently during feedings, it can help to protect him against worms.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you take care of your cat, chances are you’ll keep him healthy for years to come.  You should always make sure he has quality food, and doesn’t miss any of his scheduled checkups with the vet.  If he gets the proper vaccinations when he is required to get them, he should be safe against numerous pests and diseases.  Taking the proper steps with your cat now will prevent anything from happening in the future.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/982482134033868055-2999357246548591704?l=u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~4/9zK2C4-M1R0" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</content><link rel="replies" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/feeds/2999357246548591704/comments/default" title="Post Comments" /><link rel="replies" type="text/html" href="http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/05/helping-your-cat-stay-healthy.html#comment-form" title="0 Comments" /><link rel="edit" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/2999357246548591704?v=2" /><link rel="self" type="application/atom+xml" href="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/982482134033868055/posts/default/2999357246548591704?v=2" /><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/PetInformationCenter/~3/9zK2C4-M1R0/helping-your-cat-stay-healthy.html" title="Helping Your Cat Stay Healthy" /><author><name>Admin</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail" width="16" height="16" src="http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif" /></author><thr:total>0</thr:total><feedburner:origLink>http://u-petinformationcenter.blogspot.com/2011/05/helping-your-cat-stay-healthy.html</feedburner:origLink></entry><entry gd:etag="W/&quot;DkEAQXo7eCp7ImA9WhZTFUw.&quot;"><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-982482134033868055.post-7080141051614067443</id><published>2011-03-18T23:04:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2011-03-18T23:04:00.400-07:00</updated><app:edited xmlns:app="http://www.w3.org/2007/app">2011-03-18T23:04:00.400-07:00</app:edited><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="dog" /><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Dog Daily Walk" /><title>3 Reasons why Some Dogs Will go to a Daily Walk</title><content type="html">
&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/ZCkkDAF8TcL5DCQ0qczY3KPJp4c/0/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/ZCkkDAF8TcL5DCQ0qczY3KPJp4c/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/ZCkkDAF8TcL5DCQ0qczY3KPJp4c/1/da"&gt;&lt;img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/ZCkkDAF8TcL5DCQ0qczY3KPJp4c/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"&gt;&lt;/img&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;Many people think that small dogs don? T need to go for a walk because? They get enough exercise in the yard.? if the poor creatures do not come out on the end of a leash, it is only to liberate themselves.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
but the truth is, little dogs really need to go on walks every day, like their larger cousins.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
daily walks have an important psychological effect on dogs. Small dogs need:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;script type=”text/javascript”&gt;
write_contents = “”;
write_legacy = document.write;
document.write = function(s) { write_contents += s; }
&lt;/script&gt;&lt;script type="text/javascript"&gt;
&lt;!--
google_ad_client = "pub-4023591736122356";
/* Pet Information 1 */
google_ad_slot = "3771341143";
google_ad_width = 336;
google_ad_height = 280;
//--&gt;
&lt;/script&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;script src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js" type="text/javascript"&gt;
&lt;/script&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;script type=”text/javascript”&gt;
document.getElementById(“adblock1″).innerHTML = write_contents;
document.write = write_legacy;
&lt;/script&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
1. to get tired every day with a period of significant, ongoing exercise.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
2. learning new things about the world through all their senses.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
3. knowing they belong to a healthy, safe social unity and to understand their place in it.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In other words, they need to experience acting as a dog. and dogs love to go for a ride.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
it? s even more important if your pooch is overweight, as many small dogs are. take a small dog for a walk will give her all the stress-reducing benefits it gives you. her serotonin levels will rise, and levels of stress hormone cortisol will go down, giving her naturally calm himself. she? ll be happily tired after doing a real dog? s job to go on a nice long walk, so she? ll be able to come home from her walk relaxed, happy and content.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
to go with a trusted, quiet owner (it? s you), she can take her place in the family and relax. someone else (again, it? s you) will decide when and where to go and when to come home. They will be there to guide and protect her from something unusual situations. she? ll get to act and be treated like the adult dog she really is.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
so don? t let her size fool you? Small dogs need their walk as much as the giant dogs do. she may not be able to go as far or as long as you can, but she needs her walks.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
It is a fact that the smallest dogs, glass poodles and toy yorkshire terriers, for example, Is the perfect pet for someone with debilitating arthritis. Your little pooch will love to go to the end of the block and back, she? ll get you out of house and talk to your neighbors, and she? ll give you hours of fun, loving friendship.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Plus, these little dogs are also too small to exert a dangerous tug on the leash, so even a well-trained older dog can do when he hears the chirping of the neighborhood squirrels.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
with all these advantages for the small dog and it's loving human owner, who can resist taking their small dog for a daily walk?&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;script type=”text/javascript”&gt;
write_contents = “”;
write_legacy = document.write;
document.write = function(s) { write_contents += s; }
&lt;/script&gt;&lt;script type="text/javascript"&gt;
&lt;!--
google_ad_client = "pub-4023591736122356";
/* Pet Information 1 */
google_ad_slot = "3771341143";
google_ad_width = 336;

//--&gt;
&lt;/script&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;script src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js" type="text/javascript"&gt;
&lt;/script&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
