Owning a new puppy can be an extremely exciting experience. Most individuals fall in love with their dogs as soon as they see them in a pet shop window, but many fail to realize all the training and responsibility that goes along with taking care of a pet. One of the most difficult aspects of being a new dog owner is trying to train your dog to use the bathroom outside, rather than using the living room rug. While it may be difficult and at times taxing on your patience, once you get through it all, it will have been well worth it and a very necessary process to endure.

One of the first things you need to do when training your dog to use the bathroom outside is to train your dog to go at specific times. Setting up a fixed time to go to the bathroom will help you greatly in training him. You should set up some time for after meals, at night just before you and your family go to bed, and also after you get up in the morning. Typically, your dog will need to use the bathroom 15-20 minutes after a meal, so make sure that they are on a regular meal schedule, as this will help enforce your fixed toilet time.

Another great tip to help you along in the outdoors toilet training process is to use the exact same signal phrases each time your dog goes outside to the bathroom. If, for example, you use the phrase “go potty” the first few times, you will have to keep on using it from that time on. Don’t try and switch up the signal phrases, because you may confuse your dog and he may not go when you let him out.

It’s important to keep in mind that potty training a puppy isn’t that much different than teaching the puppy to sit, stay, or fetch. By getting your dog to understand that it needs to hear the command before going to the bathroom, your dog understands that it can’t just go whenever it wants, but that it needs permission first. This will help make sure that your dog realizes it’s not allowed to go in the house, and in the long run will save you a lot of cleaning up.

Once your dog has returned inside the house, make sure you reward the dog for doing as it was told. Dogs in general respond very well to praise and reward, as this helps to condition their behavior. By affirming that your dog did the right thing, you increase the chances of your dog repeating this behavior later on. There are a lot of tools available to help aid you in this process. One tool that you may find very helpful, especially if you have a very young puppy, are puppy pads. These pads are placed around the house and you train your dog to only go on the pads and not on the carpet or floor. Eventually you can work on getting them outside.

It’s important to remember to be patient with your pet during the training process. There will still be times when they go in the house, so be sure to correct them, but do so with love and gentleness. Try not to get discouraged if it takes a long time to get a dog housebroken, just hang in there and keep on trying. Some dogs will catch on a lot faster than others. Each dog is different, so keep that in mind when you’re training.

One of the biggest concerns a dog owner has is how their furry friend will react to a new baby being brought home. Some dogs can get really jealous when a baby is brought into the home due to all the attention the baby receives. There are instances where these types of situations have caused dogs to violently attack newborns, but these are rare and can be easily avoided by preparing your dog for the new arrival before the baby is even born.

One of the first steps you can take to prepare your puppy for the arrival of a new child in the family is to set up your baby’s room well before the baby’s birth. Set up the baby’s crib, toys, and playpen before the baby is born and allow your pooch to sniff around at all the stuff. There will be a ton of new stuff in the room with a ton of new smells to go along with them.

Allowing your dog to sniff around will decrease his curiosity when the baby is actually born. It may be a good idea to get some type of tape with baby crying and other noises on it to help the dog get used to all the new sounds that will be coming along with your new bundle of joy. Be sure to let your pet know that he is not allowed anywhere near the crib for any reason. If you have a jumpy dog you may want to consider purchasing a mesh cover for your baby’s crib.

Another tip for helping your dog to feel comfortable around your newborn is to expose him to other people’s babies. Invite family and friends that you know have babies over to your house and allow your dog to sniff the baby. Make sure you keep the pooch away from the baby’s face, just to be on the safe side. It’s a new experience for the dog and it may be intimidated at first, so be gentle with your dog as well. You may also want to consider sprinkling some baby powder around the house, as this will help your dog get used to the scent.

After your baby is born and you bring the new arrival home, be sure to allow your dog to sniff at the baby. Again, keep the dog away from the baby’s face and if your dog behaves well, give him a treat and reward him for doing so well. Again, being gentle is extremely important, as this is a whole new world of experience for the dog as well as the baby.

The key to helping your dog become accepting of your baby is to keep your pup involved in family activities. Make sure you still spend some quality time with your dog so that your pet will know he is still part of the family. Play with your dog while your baby is sleeping. Eventually your baby will learn that the dog is friendly and they will have a ton of fun playing together. Take the dog along when you go for family walks. These are just a few things you can do to make your dog still feel like he’s part of the family.

While it may seem intimidating and scary to bring a newborn home with a pet around, don’t be too apprehensive. If you did your best to prepare the pup for the new baby, you probably won’t have much to worry about at all, and over time your baby will become your pup’s new best friend.

Having a dog is one of the most pleasant experiences a person can have. There’s nothing quite like having a furry little friend waiting for you at the door after a hectic day at the office. However, as awesome and wonderful as owning a dog is, it does have a couple of drawbacks, but with the correct training these can be dealt with. One of these drawbacks is when you come home from a hard day of work only to find your furniture and shoes chewed and scratched into shreds and bits. If this is you, then now is the time to put to death the chew monster and train your dog not to destroy your things.

It’s important to realize that a dog who chews things is pretty normal. Don’t be alarmed by a lot of chewing, just try to correct the problem and get the dog to chew on the correct objects instead of your expensive Italian leather shoes. Once you’ve trained your dog what is ok to chew and what isn’t, you’ll be able to leave your dog at home unattended without worrying about the condition of your valuables.

Dogs chew things up due in large part to their instinct. If you try to completely stop your dog from chewing anything, you’ll most likely fail. The key to successfully putting to death the chew monster is to get your dog to chew on certain items that you allow him to chew on. Go to your local pet store, purchase a few different types of toys, and see which one your puppy likes to chew on the most. This method alone can sometimes completely change a dog’s behavior, so if this works just go with it.

You can also try moving your dog into a smaller living space. You may want to consider blocking off certain areas of the house so that the dog does not have access to the items you have stored in that particular area. This works great if you are not going to be home all day and have no way of checking up on your pet.

Another option you have to help break your dog from chewing is to get him or her to hate the taste of whatever object they keep chewing on. There are a number of safe products you can purchase to help you accomplish this task. Once you purchase the anti-chewing product all you have to do is apply it directly to the surface. As soon as the dog begins to chew, he will be greeted with a rather bitter flavor that tastes awful. A few times of getting this, your dog will be broken in rather quickly.

You may want to look into purchasing bones for your dog to snack on as well. If you find these to be too expensive you can try bones that are made up of nylon fibers. These kinds of bones come in edible and non edible kinds. The non edible bones are filled with meat flavors, including chicken, which tastes good to a dog.

Remember not to get too upset if you come home and find the house a mess all because of your dog. Keep in mind that they have to be trained properly in order to stop repeating bad behavior. It may be a good idea for you to reward your dog with treats whenever he does what he is supposed to so that you reinforce good behavior. It may take some time, but after it’s all said and done, the process will have been worth it.

Dogs make the best pets that a human being can ever own. They patiently wait to see you all day while you’re away at work, and when you finally come through the door, they are the first ones to greet you with an excited and happy wag of the tail. Since your pet loves you so much, you probably love them back just as much. No doubt you want your pet to have a long and healthy life with you, and the key to achieving that is to make sure that your dog is eating right.

If a dog isn’t fed properly, you run the risk of cutting the pooch’s life short and increase the risk of the dog having diseases. It is important to make sure that you feed your pup a healthy diet both for physical growth and to help avoid diseases. Overfeeding your dog can cause obesity, and this is extremely dangerous for your pet.

The type of dietary needs your dog has will depend largely on the breed of the dog. Each breed of dog is different and has different needs. How old your dog is and his body weight also play huge parts in determining what kind of diet is best for your dog and his development. There is no such thing as a general dog diet that can be used for all dogs.

One of the first things you need to do to plan out a proper diet for your dog is to consult a veterinarian about what brand name of dog food is best for your dog. Your vet is a trained professional in pet nutrition and can help you to choose a brand of dog food that will be healthy for your pet.

It’s best to avoid just randomly choosing a brand due to its popularity, as this brand may not meet the nutritional needs your dog has. Make sure that if your vet offers several suggestions for food that you choose the one that is of the highest quality. Again, take into consideration the size, breed, and age of your dog before going with a specific diet.

Another highly recommended tip is to feed your pooch both dry dog food as well as moist canned food. This is really healthy for your dog for a couple of reasons. The moist canned food helps to aid in cleaning your dog’s teeth, which is very important. Feeding a mixture of both types of food also helps to make sure your pet gets all the nutrition he needs daily. It’s also important to make sure that your dog is getting all the protein he needs to get daily. Your dog’s diet should consist of 20 to 30 % of protein per meal that your dog consumes.

It’s very important to make sure that you do not overfeed your dog. Feeding your dog too much can lead to making your dog extremely overweight. An obese dog faces similar health problems and risks that overweight humans face, so this can even be deadly. Never feed your dog table scraps, as these are extremely unhealthy for your pet.

This will get your dog to think it is ok to beg for scraps at the table during dinner. Make sure that you feed your dog at the same time every day and that you measure out the amount of food your dog needs at each meal and don’t go over or under that amount. The amount your dog eats will differ individually based on the dog’s weight, breed, and age.

Anyone who owns a dog, or knows someone who owns a dog, is well aware of the fact that dog is man’s best friend. Dogs make the best pets, as they are loyal, friendly, loving, and just plain fun to be around. Who doesn’t like to have someone excited to see them when they come home from work? This kind of love and devotion deserves to have the same kind of love given back. One of the ways you can show your puppy how much you love him is to bathe him properly.

One of the most important keys to dog bathing success is the type of environment that you bathe the pooch in. The last thing you want is for your dog to get injured during bath time because of slippery surfaces. Make sure that if you are bathing your pup in the tub or sink that he or she doesn’t slip. One of the best ways to ensure that your furry friend won’t slip and slide around is to place a rubber mat in the tub or sink you are using to bathe him in.

It’s also important to make sure that the area you use for bathing your dog is also safe for you as well. Be very cautious and careful if you use a hose to bathe your dog outside, as this can cause some slipping as well. Make sure to keep a firm grip on your pup’s collar to prevent him from running into the street.

Another key element in dog bathing is the type of shampoo you use to wash your dog. You’ll want to use a mild shampoo and preferably one that is especially made for dogs as these are the safest to use. Using shampoos that aren’t really meant for dogs can actually strip the oils out of your dog’s coat. The oil produced by a dog’s coat is what gives them healthy skin, so this is very important. If there isn’t any type of formulated dog shampoo available to you, try using baby shampoo designed for newborns. It’s best to avoid using perfumed or scented shampoos, as these can also cause your dog to have dry skin.

One thing your furry companion will appreciate is a little brush before bath care. It’s highly recommended that before you even put your dog in the tub, you sit down and brush their coat. This will help to settle your dog down and relax him. Brushing your pup’s coat will also help you to get rid of all the loose dead hair from your dog before he gets in the bath. This is a great way to avoid the aggravation of clogged drains.

Making sure the water you use to bath your dog with is the right temperature is very, very important. If the water is too hot, it can do a lot of damage to your dog’s sensitive skin, while water that is too cold will give your pup a case of the shivers. Also try to avoid using too much water, as this will make your dog very uneasy and will only make a bigger mess to clean up later.

After you have lathered your pooch up, starting at behind the ears and working toward his tail, and rinsed him off, it’s time to get dry. The best way to dry off your dog is to use a nice, thick, fluffy towel. It’s important to take a little time and play with your dog after his bath in order to comfort him and reassure him that bath time can be a fun experience.

Many individuals know how to swim and especially know how to doggy paddle. Most people don’t know that dogs also have to be taught to swim just like humans. While dogs are born with the ability to do the “doggy paddle” they aren’t born with a natural ability to stay horizontal in the water. This is why it is important to take the time to actually teach your dog how to swim using other techniques besides the doggy paddle.

If you decide that now is the right time to introduce your furry companion to the wide world of swimming, make sure you choose the right kind of environment in which to teach him. Make sure it’s a warm day outside with lots of sunshine. You should have a helper come with you on your doggie’s first swimming lesson. Try to avoid beaches or rivers where there is a lot of noise and crashing waves.

If your dog is still a pretty young puppy you will probably not have much trouble getting him into the water. Most puppies don’t have a fear of water and will just dive right in with all four paws, while older dogs tend to be a bit apprehensive about taking the big plunge. Just remember not to get discouraged or think that your dog doesn’t want to swim. Your pet just wants to feel safe and secure.

Take your dog out in the water until it gets about knee high, no higher than waist high. You should put one of your hands underneath your pup on his stomach, and the other hand holding up his tail to help him stay level while in the water. Make sure you and your pet are facing your help on the shore.

This individual should be offering praises and encouragement to your pooch during the lesson. Next, immerse the dog’s torso into the water. The first thing your pup will do as soon as it hits the water will be to start paddling. Once the pup is paddling at a decent pace, remove your hand from its belly and keep holding up its tail to keep it steady and level.

If you don’t have access to a river or a beach, you can always teach your pooch to swim in a swimming pool. The only drawback to teaching your dog to swim in a pool is cleaning the hair out of the pool’s drain. This can be a laborious task so make sure you have the right equipment.

The first thing you should do is help your dog feel comfortable with the pool by allowing him to get familiar with it. Let your dog come with you in the pool and show him where the steps are located. Carry the dog away from the edge of the pool and immerse him in the water. Let him swim all the way back to the steps. After you repeat this process a few times, your dog will be a champion swimmer!

It’s important to remember that you should never toss a dog into water. Your pup will panic and this can cause your dog to drown. Also remember that while dogs do love to play games in the water, they are susceptible to getting cramps as well as just getting plain worn out from the exercise. If you aren’t paying close attention and your pooch takes a cramp or tires out while in the water, he could drown. Please make sure to keep your furry friend safe and enjoy the water!

Owning a dog can be an extremely rewarding experience for any family, and especially for families with children. Kids and dogs go so well together and usually become the best of friends. Dogs are great for kids for a number of reasons.

They are loyal, playful, warm, and love to please their owners. Most people who own dogs love the thought of coming home from work or school and finding their furry little friend waiting at the door to greet them with a wagging tail. However, if you’re a family who is getting a new puppy for the first time, it can be a bit challenging to make your new friend feel at home and like he is part of the family. There are a few things you can do to make your dog feel like he belongs.

Dogs desperately need to feel loved and wanted, so make sure you give them plenty of attention. Dogs naturally like to be petted and loved on. They love to display and return that same affection to those who show them affection. One way to make your dog feel like he belongs is to make sure that you and the other members of your family take some time out during the day to play with him and pet him. This will also be extremely important when it comes time to train your dog to obey your commands as well, as dogs love to please their masters.

Another way to make sure the dog feels like part of the family is to include him in family activities. If you are taking your children to the park for the day, bring the dog along! Your kids can play with their pooch and he can get some much needed exercise at the same time. If you have a newborn and you take the baby out in the stroller for a walk, bring the dog along. If you keep your dog involved, he will feel he is wanted, and that will make him feel at home and comfortable with you and the rest of the family.

It’s important, too, that you discipline your dog when he or she does something bad gently, so the animal doesn’t feel it is unwanted. So often we hear stories of how people abuse their pets for years and years and finally the animal snaps and turns on its owners. This is not typical behavior, and had the dog been treated good it would probably not have turned. Don’t hit your dog for no reason or seek to injure him, as this will only make the dog feel lonely and unloved.

Another great way to make your pooch feel welcomed is to take time to play with him each and every day. Buy a few different toys and see which one he likes to play with the most. Play tug of war or fetch with your pet. Your dog will love the attention and it will be fun for you and him both. Also make sure you feed him properly and bathe him regularly, as this helps him to see that you love spending time with him.

Having a family dog is a lot of fun for the whole family. Dogs are excellent pets, and with the proper care they will live long, healthy lives. Play with your dog often and involve him in the everyday lives of your family. Just remember that your dog needs to feel loved, and if he or she feels loved, that love will be returned to you, and that is a great reward in itself.

One of the most difficult aspects of being a dog owner is training your dog to do what you ask it to do. Training your pooch for obedience can really be taxing on your nerves and your patience, but the end results are well worth the effort, especially if you’re tired of having all your favorite shoes chewed on and messes left all around your home.

One of the first tips you need to keep in mind when you are obedience training your dog is to never scold or punish your dog during the actual training. This will only produce a negative attitude in your dog towards the training. It may also cause your dog’s behavior to actually get worse and completely stop listening to commands.

Another tip that will help you to train your puppy is to reward him when does well. Give him words of praise and lots of petting and rubbing to let your dog know you love him and are proud of him. It’s good to reward them with a food treat, but dogs love to be loved on, so this is the most effective form of reward you can give to your pet. Also, take time out to play his favorite game with him or something of that nature, as that is a great way to reward your dog for his accomplishments.

You also need to keep in mind that sometimes dogs just act a bit badly. You don’t need to be overly strict with them and punish them severely for a small bit of bad behavior. This doesn’t mean that you let it go, but that you don’t punish them so bad that they run away with their tail tucked between their legs. That is counter-productive to what you are trying to do during their training.

Make sure that you take into account the level of obedience your dog is actually at. If you have a puppy and you’re trying to give him complicated commands, you’re only going to frustrate the dog and discourage him from listening to your commands. Again, this type of scenario will only prove to hinder the work you are trying to accomplish.

If your dog doesn’t do what he is told, then you need to penalize your dog. There is a huge difference between punishment and penalty in this case. If you look at your dog and tell them you are mad and what they did was wrong, along with leashing them up, they will get the hint pretty quickly. They will more than likely not repeat the behavior that upset you because they want you to spend time with them and love on them.

One of the keys to training your dog is to know what makes him tick. What does he love to be rewarded with? What rewards motivates him to do what you ask? Find these out by testing different methods of rewarding him. See what gets the best results, and use that method often. Intersperse play time in between giving him commands so that you can keep him focused and attentive rather than bored and distracted.

It is extremely important to keep your dog happy and to reinforce his good behavior with praise. Remember that it takes time to train a dog, so do not expect overnight results, as it takes a lot of work. Although it may be an extremely difficult task, the rewards you will reap will definitely outweigh the price of all the work that needs to be done.

Finally we’ll look into the matter of training a guard dog. Not all dogs have it in their nature to protect and some just don’t have the size for the job. However having your dog bark on command or if someone is trying to break in will help you avoid a lot of trouble with burglars.

While purchasing pets we worry about a lot things, like its health, weight and its price. But most importantly it is the health of the pet that worries us because it has long lasting consequences. To this effect pet sale health guarantees are sprouting up to provide buyers with the much needed help.

Health care of pets comes under different schemes. For instance it may be a lifetime pet sale health guarantee or it may just be for one or two weeks. Dogs are generally guaranteed to have good health throughout, given that the buyer takes his/her pet to the vet regularly, but one must make sure to get the guarantee to prevent future worries.

For the first seventy two hours dogs are guaranteed against fatal diseases such as Distemper, Parvo and Corona, given that all these diseases have been vaccinated immediately. Congenital diseases and genetic diseases are guaranteed for over one year while diseases such as luxating patellas, severe hip and elbow dysplasia are guaranteed for up to two years.

Before buying your pet you must read the sale agreement carefully to note if the seller would replace the pup within six months, in case the health of your pet deteriorates seriously. If the dog dies before two years of age, the seller is often liable to pay back 50% of the amount or provide with a new pup. But before doing that they often claim the pup to get autopsied. Special note must be taken of such clauses in the agreement.

Further, the purchaser of pets must promise to keep it in a proper manner. General health problems can be reported to the breeder but one must be careful that they don’t breed their pets on their own.

There is no guarantee of the puppy’s ability to breed so you must not try to breed them without informing the seller. Again, there is no guarantee to the animal’s show quality because they are sold as a companion pets only, so health issues arising out of these exercises shall not be guaranteed. Further, the adult size, color and temperament; fitness for breeding, bad bites and appearance are also not guaranteed by sale agreements.

Cats are generally sold as companions and to promise good health they are generally spayed or neutered. Proper health care is guaranteed by the seller of cats and at times guarantee of good appearance are also given.

But one must be sure to buy the right kind of pet because breeder pets are quite different from show quality pets and their health issues varies differently. Generally there is no guarantee that the purchaser will be able to show or breed the pet so it’s up to the buyer to decide which quality of pet he/she wants.

Pets are sold with the guarantee to proper health, but this doesn’t mean that your pet won’t contact a disease. If it does so, you must immediately take it to the vet, get it examined and rush to the seller with the medical documents. The seller must be informed immediately about any examination done on the pet, as otherwise you may not get back your money if later you pet falls ill or dies.

Lastly one must note that pet sale health guarantee covers almost everything, but all animals sold as pets are to be used as pets only. Serious health issues may arise if pets are used in research or if vivisection is done on them. Such health issues are not guaranteed under pet sale and thereby it would be a loss on your part if something happens to your pet. Finally it’s the discretion of the purchaser to make sure he/she buys a good and healthy pet.

Are you the one who are planning to buy a rabbit for a pet or someone who already has one? Whatever might be your ownership status yet, it is necessary to keep yourself informed on the latest information on rabbits. Pet Rabbit health should be taken proper care of so that your rabbit stays perfectly alright throughout. Your pet rabbit might fall severely ill and then you need to know all the minute details of a rabbit’s health. At the very beginning, necessary information on a proper veterinary doctor is required.

It is a very bad practice to search for a doctor at the last moment. This may even endanger the precious life of our pet. You should stay in touch with a veterinary doctor who is absolutely well acquainted with rabbits. Just like humans even pets need regular health check-ups. Take your loving pet rabbit to the nearest pet clinic for medical check-ups and vaccinations. Moreover, rabbits also need routine spraying, clipping, neutering and teeth trimming. All these should be done on a proper time and in the best place.

Choosing a proper doctor for your pet is also difficult. You should personally visit a specialized pet doctor and find out if he is comfortable with rabbits. Keep yourself updated with all kinds of information on rabbits. While interacting with your pet’s doctor try and know from him if he is knowledgeable on rabbit surgeries or even simple vaccination.

Apart from choosing the right doctor and regular health check-ups there are several other points too which should be kept in mind while keeping a rabbit as a pet. The first thing that should be kept in mind is to choose unscented bedding for rabbits. Rabbits are very sensitive and a scented bed can even cause damage to the respiratory system of a rabbit. Usually wood shavings and other natural products are used to prepare their beds.

As long as their diet is concerned you should be very careful. Your Pet rabbit’s health much depends on its diet. Rabbits love to have carrots throughout the day. But it is recommended to give your loving pet rabbit small pieces of carrots instead of larger ones. Carrots have high sugar contents which would cause severe illness. Check your pet rabbit’s weight regularly. If you find that its weight is very high, that means the internal organs of the rabbit are not working properly.

Does health care involves only medication and proper feeding of your pet? I guess no. It also includes how the pet is kept. Often pet rabbits are caged in iron cages. This might cause infection in their feet. So, it is always better to have plastic bottoms for the comfort of your pets.

To keep your pet rabbit healths in form engage him with several games. Spend ample time with your rabbits to make them comfortable and feel at home. You can also give him, toys and other tools to play with. Know more about the behavioral pattern of your pet rabbit and study its nature. If it is burrowing a hole somewhere note that it is a socializing kind of a pet. Let it be how it wants to be.

Notice all the change in behavior of your loving pet rabbit. If there is any kind of a change or improper attitude in your pet, visit the nearest pet doctor without any delay. Know proper medications and other health details to ensure a safe life for your pet. Your Pet rabbit health should be checked regularly. Remember one thing, if you have a rabbit at home it is none other than your child. So, if he stays well, it will also bring about a happy life for your family.

Consult your pet’s doctor to choose the best pet insurance program.

While choosing a suitable insurance program for your pet it is also necessary to check the cost. You should always choose an insurance plan which is suitable for both you and your pet. A plan which covers all the aspects in a price which is reasonable and cost-effective is the most suitable one.
If you are an owner of a pet, do not wait for anything and grab the opportunity to insure your pet with the best plan. Keep yourself and your pet away from tensions. So, next time you need a health check-up for your pet, do not hesitate take him immediately to the nearest vet clinic. A proper insurance policy and pet health plans will keep your pet healthy forever.

Most owners know a lot about their pets and understand when they are happy, but at times they miss signs of sickness and are unable to notice pet health symptoms. Actually it is not always possible to detect signs of sickness as pets generally prefer hiding their illness.

Animals are bound to be animals whether you classify them as pets or not. Hence it is an inherent quality of dogs and cats to hide their weaknesses as otherwise they would fall prey to higher animals. Thus it gets tough for the owners to notice when and if their pets fall sick.

To prevent your pets from falling sick you must keep a check on their habits, mood and diet. Often pets refuse to eat and skip meals but if it recurs frequently then you should take your pet to the veterinarian immediately.

Dogs and cats generally maintain an average temperature of 101.5°F, which is their normal temperature. Owners must be aware of this and look out for any symptoms that may result in a rise or fall in temperature and inform the vet as soon as possible. Pets with a 105 temperature or lower than 96 is seriously ill and should be taken to the vet for checkups.

Frequent vomiting in cats and dogs is the most common symptom of intestinal parasites, liver disease, gastric ulcers and food allergy or simply absorption and digestion disorders. Pets also start losing weight under such situations. Symptom of losing weight is when you can see the ribs of your pet through its coat.

Blood in the urine of your pet is a serious issue and you must be prepared to handle the situation immediately. It is possibly due to malfunctioning of the kidneys or bladders. Blood in stool is a symptom of infection, inflammation or trauma in bowels.

Biting, scratching and itching in your pet indicate that your pet is not clean and is suffering from bacterial skin diseases and allergies. You must give your pet regular baths and stop him from continued scratching or biting as that might leads to lesions; which in turn would seriously harm your pet.

Coughing in your pet is a symptom of lung tumours, pneumonia and bronchitis or may even indicate heart failure. It is advised to get your pet examined if it coughs regularly and do check your pet’s gums and teeth for signs of dental infections. In ideal health your pet’s teeth must be free of mortars; his gums must be firm and red and he must be able to eat food completely.

Lethargy in your pet is also a pet health symptom which occurs when it is either neurologically or physically misbalanced or when there is immunal, endocrinal, hormonal and nutritional disorders. Excessive panting and open mouth is also a symptom of such disorders.

If your pet shows signs of illness it is advised to keep a record of the symptoms as it will help the vet in diagnosing and treating you pet correctly. Behavioural attitudes should also be taken care of as it helps immensely in understanding the gradual growth of your pet.

Nowadays pets suffer from chronic ailments which didn’t even exist few years back. Lack of care and proper nutrition; accumulation of toxins and weak immune systems are the main reason behind such health issues. Detoxifying your pet by giving liquid zeolite can improve your pet’s health remarkably.

Finally it is the duty of the pet owner to make sure that he/she notices the pet health symptoms regularly and take his/her pet to the veterinarian for regular checkups. Keeping a pet should not be your ultimate aim; rather you must learn to take care of animals in general.

In today’s world no family can stay happy for long without having a pet. Pets have become an integral part of our daily life and just as there has been a rise in human health problems; pets too are now showing a rising trend in health problems. As such people are now more worried about their pets and throng the veterinary clinics with multiple pet health questions.

One of the most prominent pet health questions that veterinary doctors have to answer regularly is about the pet’s immunization program. People are worried about when to start with the vaccination of their pets and ask several related questions. Generally veterinary doctors receive twenty to thirty queries everyday regarding dog or cat health problems.

There are several virulent viruses that may affect your pet so it’s best to get it immunized as soon as possible. Dogs can be yearly vaccinated from viruses like the Parvo virus or the distemper virus and immunized with the kennel cough vaccination as soon as possible. Cats too should be vaccinated as early as at 8 weeks of age. Then a series of vaccines can be given at an interval of four weeks to retain its good immunity. Rabies is the most important vaccine that must be given to your pet because if left untreated then it may cause serious damage to your pet.

Dogs exhibit several health problems but most of them can be cured quite easily. Modern medicine can tremendously help to cure pets from chronic health problems such as allergy, arthritis and diabetes.

If you see your pet itching all day then don’t panic. Don’t call up the vet and start firing him with numerous questions, but rather handle the situation calmly. There’s a Chinese herbal supplement called Zemaphyte which would magically stop your pet from scratching all day long. Similarly acupressure can be performed on arthritic pets to get rid of the disease.

But you must understand that more than advanced medicine or pills, it is the care and natural treatment received at home that enables the pets to recover soon.

Dogs often suffer from ailments such as diarrhea, vomiting, epilepsy and ear infections. To avoid such diseases treat your dog well and provide them with good food. You can give them Wysong Pet Food Products or Nutro Canine Food Products. Pancreatitis, hypothyroidism and canine influenza are also dog diseases that generate several health related questions in the owners’ mind.

In cats diseases such as allergy, diabetes, diarrhea, and hyperthyroid generates most health related questions. But these problems too can often be easily solved at home.

Some other pet health questions concentrate on the care required for proper growth. Deworming of pets is a serious issue which must be taken care of as otherwise pets may suffer seriously with recurring ailments. Several parasites such as tapeworms and fleas create great discomfort to your pets. To prevent fleas from infecting your pets you may place flea collars around your pet’s neck.
Dogs are often infected with ticks and this can be prevented by utilizing preventive tick collars and defend liquid. Dog lice can also be got rid of by regular washing and brushing.

In conclusion we can say that pet health is a serious issue in today’s world and pet health questions and queries are growing in number. Several vets are coming up with new plans to answer such questions and several online sites are also available which specifically cater to delivering answers to such questions. But finally one must know that the kind of love and care imparted on pets at home can keep a lot of ailments far out of their pet’s reach.

Pet health care insurance has growing importance as families are a lot busier nowadays and financially aware, and often there are serious issues regarding the pet’s health which can be met if your pet is insured.

Several insurance agencies offer varied insurance policies to meet your requirements, and you may choose the one that best suits you and your pet. Knowing your pet well is an added advantage as it helps you decide whether to go in for superior reimbursement plans or for the less expensive ones.

Going in for pet health care insurance is a personal decision but you must keep in mind that pets are quite susceptible to health problems. Your financial state may worry you but that doesn’t mean that your pet would be left to die if such situations arise. Often your pets have lifelong illness such as diabetes or diarrhea, incurring more expenses, and in such situations it is best to leave it upon the insurance agencies to take care of your pet’s health.

Most pet insurance companies offer detailed insurance policies offering reimbursements in case of accident or illness of your pet. If your pet is not insured then you may end up paying huge amounts in case your pet falls seriously ill, but if you are insured then you may end up saving thousands of dollars. Now you may decide what you want. Do you want to save some money in the insurance policies so that they take care of your pet or do you prefer going bankrupt trying to cure your pet from serious ailments? Now this is the reason why one must go in for pet health care insurance.

Most insurances policies pay out all pet medical costs, including checkups. A certain amount is deducted from the total fee which you have to pay for but other than that all fees are taken care of by the insurance agencies. So, pet health insurance helps you save a lot of money by actually paying a small amount monthly.

Pet insurance offers a range of programs that will allow you to determine the scheme that best suits your needs; you may choose from 90% to 70% coverage or just go in for reimbursement in case of lost or death of the pet. Again, if your pet is insured then you can freely go on about your life without worrying about the vet’s expenses, as they too come under the insurance policy and would be paid for.

Pet insurance covers charges in case of accidents, illnesses or for routine care. The difference is that each plan suits your need but it is preferable that you go in for yearly schemes as that way you’d save a lot of money. Yearly veterinary costs are met by insurance agencies providing for expenses incurred during accidents, illnesses and routine preventive care, including office visits, lab fees, X-rays, surgeries and treatment.

Reimbursement benefits for health maintenance and number of treatments are available in the market. These health care insurance policies cover pet diseases such as allergies, asthma and diabetes to accidents, animal bites and life coverage. Pet insurance also offers budget schemes of monthly payments to reduce the owner’s pay load.

So ultimately it is a win-win situation if you get health insurance for your pets. Dogs and cats are a part of our life and it is very essential to get them insured for life. Dog is after all man’s best friend and it wouldn’t be proper to let them die when we ourselves are making merry. Pet health care insurance has seriously sprouted the health of pets, and today owners can boast of well groomed, fit and robust pets.

It is surprising that yet today a number of pet owners are not aware of their pet’s health conditions. There are several pet health advices for the owners of pets. But yes, it is solely their responsibility to keep themselves informed on their pet’s health and read through the advices carefully. It is recommended to take your pet to a vet regularly for health check-ups. A veterinary is the right person to give you opinions on your pet’s health condition.

It is always necessary to give your pets vaccination on the right time. Apart from vaccination, the pets should be regularly checked if they require any de-worming programs or dental check-ups. Often pet owners think that vaccination is not required. But believe me it is only for the benefit of your loving pet. Another advice while dealing with your pets is, never take your own decisions. Consult your veterinary doctor before any decision you take.

The first step for a Pet Health Advice is training your pets. Consult the trainers or people who have pets to know how to train your pet. You should not feed your pet whatever you are eating. Chocolates and fried food can be very poisonous for your pets so never run away with emotions. This will only result in endangering your pet’s life. Dogs are advised to be provided with a raw bone which keeps their bones and teeth in proper shape.

Give your pet proper medication on time. But medicines are not only the solutions for your pet’s good health. Keeping it clean and out of germs is another very important aspect of pet’s health. Choose his best soaps and body showers whenever you feel it is dirty. Do not ignore any of your pet’s abnormal behavior. Often the pets behave very surprisingly and full of anger. Find out why he is angry and then spend some time with him.

It is necessary to spend a good amount of time with your pet. Play games with our pet and enjoy a whole lot of good time with him. Bring new games items and balls for him to play. While playing with the pets, notice if he is running properly, walking properly and is full of strength. Check your pet’s diet. Set a time frame for him so that he eats at the same time every day. This makes him punctual.

As we all know it is always good to prevent a disease rather than cure it. It is suggested that there is a health insurance for your pet. These insurances cover all kinds of health hazards of pets. These insurances include accident coverage to basic health check-up coverage too. While traveling from one place top another pets fall sick. To cover this illness there are insurances like pet travel insurance.

This says if your pet falls sick when it’s away from home, the money for the treatment will be provided. Almost all kinds of diseases are curable. It is just that you have to know what kind of disease your pet is suffering from.

Pet owners have a number of advices in hand with them. Apart from the doctors, there is several online information over the Internet suggesting on pet health. For your pet’s healthy living it is necessary to follow all these advices. Pet Health Advices are very important for all the pet owners. So, whatever pet you have, read on them and find out more. Note down the advices for your pets and follow the proper instructions. You will find that both you and your pets are living a very happy and healthy life.

Mental health therapy using pets is a new form of alternative therapy that’s helping out patients in psychological rehabilitation centres. This form of therapy is also known as Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT).

Pets are playing an important role in our life and share a large part of our family. Today, millions of dogs, cats, horses, birds, fish and several other pets are sharing our households. 90% of pet owners value their pets as being very important while 79% of them believe pets to be their closest friend.

Loneliness and depression is rampant in our life and in such situations pets play an important role in providing with much needed love, safety and protection. Pets encourage interaction and also serve as conversation partners; even the sense of touch can be achieved with pets. All these features make pets an important mental health therapist.

In mental health pet therapy the health-related aspect of animals and pets comes into play. Interacting with animals that are strong gives a sense of security and mental health patients often prefer talking to pets rather than human beings. The non judgemental characteristic of pets also helps in allowing the mental patients to interact with them and reduce their stress. Interacting with pets also develops the trust and self- esteem of the patients and helps to boost up their ego.

Mental patients benefit largely from the social and emotional bonding that it creates with animals. Patients with poor communication skills lack judgement and don’t open up in front of people. But in the presence of a cat or a dog they find it much easier to communicate easily and explain themselves.

It has been noted that children with severe ADHD showed improvement once they were put under mental health pet therapy. Marked improvement in patients with Alzheimer’s disease was also noted. Incidentally the most prominent improvement was in their attention power which improved immensely and in their aggressiveness which lessened remarkably. Depressed patients too showed marked improvement in their socialization skills.

Generally good temperament pets such as friendly dogs are used as pet therapists. Animals that are physically strong are preferred as they have to regularly undergo tests and must have listening skills and patience. Animals with specific skills and abilities are generally utilized in the critical therapeutic cases.

Depressed people lack focus and remain lost in their own world. Therapy dogs are a great help for such patients as they induce the patients to come out of their own world and take a note of what’s happening outside. Mental patients are triggered by the constant presence of pets around them and are advised to talk about them. This way they come out of their cocooned world and learn socializing skills.

Psychiatrists say that patients who had had pets previously recuperated much faster when they were introduced to pet therapists as they were freer with them and could relate to them instinctively. Patients who never had instances of interacting with pets also show marked improvements in the company of mental health pet therapists.

Children are innocent and those who have undergone some traumatic event can recover quickly if an animal is present during his/her therapy process. The situation becomes less troublesome for them as the pets provide security; they assist children in explaining their problems and traumas more explicitly.

However, it must be noted that AAT is not always possible and patients may often react aggressively in presence of pets. Patients who had no instance of knowing pets previously may often react in a negative way. Further, patients might be allergic to pets or have certain phobias. In such cases their mental health pet therapy must be stopped immediately.

Canine Arthritis is one of the major painful diseases in veterinary science. Arthritis means inflammation of the joints. An infection in the joint is the root cause of this inflammation. Lyme disease is one of such infections which are common in pets. The physical symptoms include stiffness, limping and favoring a single limb.

The suffered dogs become reluctant to jump or climb stairs. Inflammatory joint disease mostly related with degenerative joint disease commonly known as osteoarthritis which can even endanger the life of your loving pet. So proper diet and care should be given to them to prevent and cure from these joint related diseases.

It’s always better to prevent a disease than curing it. Your pets need a good healthy diet and physical exercises in their daily routine. Over weight dogs are more prone to suffer from joint disorder. So, regular physical exercises are the most important step to control body weight. Physical therapy by pet experts is also very helpful. Swimming is very effective physical therapy for adult dogs. But, only physical exercise does not prevent the joint related diseases. An improper food can severely affect the body’s own resistance power to prevent these joint disorders.

That’s why; Joint Supplement Pet Health is becoming popular day by day. Lots of pet owners are searching for Joint Supplement products and using them to prevent these diseases. There are many well known pet product companies who are offering products and instructions to use this supplement.

But it is always recommended to consult veterinary physician before using those products. Only a veterinary doctor can understand which supplement product will be most effective for your pet. Most of supplement products contain some edible organic elements which should be used in specified amount. Over dose of those elements may cause negative side effects in your pets.

Joint Supplement Pet Health takes care of the cartilage tissues which get affected in arthritis. The supplement products mainly contain Glucosamine as the primary content. Glucosamine is a major precursor of cartilaginous tissue. Supplemental glucosamine helps to rebuild cartilage and treat arthritis in pets.

Extract of bovine tracheal cartilage is also used in supplement dietary products. Boswellic acids supplement is also present in these products. Curcumin, extract from Sea Cucumber increases the quality of the supplement. Vitamin C is also needed as supplement. Some metals like Zinc, Magnesium, Calcium and Manganese should be present in supplement food.

Methyl Sufonyl Methane is another joint supplement for pet health commonly used. It is mainly recommended when the dog is already suffering from arthritis. It has very less known side-effects. Omega-3-fatty acids are also very helpful to prevent arthritis in pets. Regular prescribed dose of omega-3-fatty acids should be a part of pet diet.

Taste and palatability of these supplements are also important. Added flavors like beef liver and ginger increase the taste and flavor, so that your pets take the food happily. Available supplement products are highly palatable because they are prepared according to the recommendation of dietary experts. These packaged supplement foods should be preserved carefully. The amount of dietary supplement should be recommended by Veterinary physician. Over dosage can even worsen the condition of your pets. One should be very careful when using this joint supplement.

Besides Joint Supplement Pet health, your pets need loving care and affection from you which can give them a little relief in their painful days. Your affectionate touch will give them joy and that will ease their suffering. You may massage the joints and muscles to make them fill better. So, physical exercises, supplementary foods and loving care can prevent joint diseases in pets.

It is one of the most fulfilling things in the world to own a pet that loves you unconditionally. Coming home from work to meet your hairy friend wigging its tail because he is so happy that you’re back is an experience that most pet owners know and love. For many that is one of the primary reasons that they keep a pet in the first place.

Cats are animals that can spend a lot of time on their own. That is however not the case for dogs as their personality isn’t to have things its own way as it can be with most cats. You can’t leave your home for days and leave your dog stranded without food or water. Even if you had provided it with sufficient food and water it would still require a regular exercise and human company to stay happy and fit.

So what do you do when you’re going away for a trip that last more than a day and you can’t take your dog with you? The obvious option is to have friends or family take care for him while you’re gone but for many people that is not an option. Maybe they do not have many friends and family or they live to far away to be able to help. Maybe they are allergic to dogs and have a handicap that makes them unable to take the minimum daily walk with the dog.

Next option will be to find some pet sitters. Pet sitters are people that will pet sit your dog for money and they are often very professional in their approach. One of the larger pet sitting agencies are Pet Sitters International (find them at www.petsit.com) but they are not the only agency out there. By doing a simple search online you will find hundreds if not thousands of pet sitting companies that will be more than willing to help you with your pet.

Normally there are two options to choose. One is the home pet sitting where the pet sitter comes to your home once or twice a day to feed your dog and take him for a walk. This option is great if you want to keep your dog in its natural environment and if you think it is a good idea to have someone look after your house at the same time. You will however need to be able to trust the company you’re dealing with. In that case I suggest that you go with one of the larger companies and be sure to check that they are insured (just in case).

The other option is to drop your pet of at the pet sitters place. I suggest that you go visit the place before entering into an agreement with the agency. You need to see for yourself that they have a great place and that they know how to treat animals the right way.

Finally there is the issue of price but I suggest that you don’t focus too much on that part. It is far more important that you pet has a great time while you’re away. You would not forgive yourself if you came home to a mistreated and unhappy pet.
