I noticed this only recently on top bloggers sites such as Seth Godin and Chris Brogan.

If its good enough for Seth then it’s certainly good enough for me!

I like the look of this and have recently put it on my blog – right up the top there – you should be able to see it. Look at the top of this blog and you’ll see a link to FlipTheSquid homepage (that is still under construction!)

It’s called an ‘Hello Bar‘ and no, it’s not a dodgy knocking shop!

It’s a nice looking unobtrusive ‘bar’ that sits right at the top of your blog – not in anyone’s way.

You can insert your own text and include a hyperlink to an optin page – or anywhere you want to direct people! For example, your bar could say “Want To Know How To Earn $400 Next Week – If So Go Here” – your ‘Go Here” text is your hyperlink to a Squeeze page where people optin to receive their report about how to earn $400 next week.

Nice.

I havn’t tested this yet for very long but it’s another way you can direct your visitors to an optin form, without getting in the way of other strategies.

There’s a brand new plugin on the market that I feel obliged to tell you a little about. It’s called Keyword Winner. It’s creator, Australian Daniel Lew, has done the reputation of us Aussie marketers no harm at all with one of the best plugins I have seen in a long time.

Up until now I have used Market Samurai to find keywords that have a lot of people using them (have high traffic) but have relatively little competition (that is, not a lot of websites are using these words).

Ideally I look for keywords that have less than 100,000 competitors and that have a consistent high search trend. This could be anything from 100 searches per day. I then use these keywords in my articles and posts, as tags and alternate texts in images.

If you get this right then it’s amazing what kind of results you can get. Don’t get me wrong, Market Samurai does this great – and much more. But Keyword Winner also does this right inside your post editing page in your blog.

Here are some of the main reasons I like Keyword Winner:

• It takes less than 1 minute to find keywords for your headlines (you don’t have to struggle with titles for your posts—they’re already handed to you on a platter)1. Competition, Insights, Search Trends and Backlink Analysis

It seems the more and more you get into Internet marketing – the more emails you get. They breed and infiltrate your life to the point of complete Internet marketing distraction. They are a virus and, often, a pest. Yet they don’t go away. They keep coming at you sucking up hours of previously productive time.

Just as you think you need to unsubscribe one useful one appears and you think ‘umm, maybe it would be useful to leave that one!”. Before you know it there are 5,000 emails sitting there, festering away. Maybe 10,000, or 20,000.

The point I am trying to make here is that ‘time is precious’ and time wasted reading and flicking through emails is money lost in my book. I have no problem with subscribing to free reports or eBooks or products, whatever.

There is some really good stuff out there and often it is not obvious where the little gems are. Some of the best eBooks and reports I’ve picked up over the years are from small time marketers – people that are not widely known but have original ideas and are able to put them down on paper.

I encourage you to keep subscribing and searching. I also try to give everyone a fair go – to look at their emails to see what they have to offer. I like to know what their opinions are and if they have original content and ideas.

BUT – and this is a big BUT – if they start bombarding me every day and use cheap email opening tricks, or send me copy and paste swipe content, I am out of there in a flash.

What do I mean by ‘cheap email opening tricks’? I mean tacky subject lines like:

“THE REAL SECRET…”

“Your Download Link…”

“Do Not Buy…”

Or the absolute worst:

“Your Payment Notification”

Am I being ultra sensitive here? Am I just forgetting that people on these lists do react to these subject headlines and open these emails? Maybe. But subjects such as “Your Download Link” and “Your Payment Notification” are attempts to mislead you since they invariably come from people that you have not requested a download from and you have not been paid anything.

People who copy payment notification subject headlines are wasting your time and misleading you to opening their emails.

Time is a valuable commodity and if the sender resorts to tricks to get me to open I can safely assume they have nothing worthwhile for me – unsubscribe! Narrow your field of email senders to those you trust and offer value.

Sure, not every email is the worlds most interesting from them – but over time you need to make sure your time is used wisely. Avoid the common Internet marketers email disease and keep your inbox trim and healthy! Avoid Internet Marketing Distraction.

ACTION STEP: Delete and Unsubscribe From Unwanted Emails That Clutter Your Inbox

Tell me – what distracts you from ‘getting on with business’?

It’s a well known fact that email optin lists are the lifeblood of many successful Internet marketers. They represent ‘customers on demand’ and, according to the industry, have a ‘rate of return’ of $1 per subscriber per month.

So, if you have 1,000 subscribers you can earn $1,000 per month. Or if you have $50,000 subscribers you can earn $50,000 per month.

But let me tell you a story.

In August 2010 I purchased a year’s worth of Solo Ads. This is where you pay someone with a large list, in this case 60,000, to mail out your promotion each month. I paid $995 for a year’s worth of monthly mail outs.

I saw this as an excellent way to rapidly accelerate my list building so I was prepared to pay the fee.

I did the maths. Even if the click through rate was as little as 2%, this would represent 1200 clicks per month. My Squeeze pages usually convert to over 50%. So, to be conservative and use 40% as the guide this would mean 5760 subscribers for the year.

So, in future that’s an extra $5,760 per month. Easily worth the $995 initial investment you would think. This was using very conservative figures.

I eagerly prepared my first set of Solo Ads. After payment I did not hear from the marketer for weeks. After many emails and follow-ups the first Solo Ad did go out.

I received 87 subscriptions from a mail out to 60,000 people using a squeeze page that is proven to convert at 60%.

The results since the first Solo Ad have been similar, regardless of the offer being used. Why would this be?

It could be that my mail out is not going to 60,000 people at all and that I am being lied to. I have no way of proving this.

It is more likely that the marketer concerned, much like many others, promote products, paid and unpaid, every day of the week. Sometimes twice a day.

Their list is burnt out and useless apart from a few initial sales every day. They rely on the newcomers to create a steady daily income.

People on these lists soon start to ignore the endless barrage of emails and promotions as they essentially offer no value at all. The majority unsubscribe or simply ignore.

The lesson from this story?

If you are thinking of investing in Solo Ads you should:

1) Ask for proof of open and click rates for the last 10 broadcast emails.
2) Set up a schedule for when your ads will go out.
3) Ask for targets for the Solo Ad campaign. There is no reason why you cannot ask for a guarantee that ‘X’ number of subscriptions will be achieved.
4) Ask for proof that your Solo Ad went out to the number of people it said it would.
5) Look to see what kind of promotions and emails get sent out from the person offering the Solo Ad. If they mail out every day with en endless stream of offers then you can be sure that response rates will be very low.

Email Optin Lists Are Gold

Email optin lists are gold dust for marketers and Solo Ads can be an excellent way to accelerate  your list building efforts. But if you want to avoid the over promotion hell then do your due diligence and double check who you are going into business with.

The thing about article marketing is that you need consistency – creating articles regularly over a long period of time to see results.

Doesn’t suit everybody, but still effective.

We all know that article marketing is still a good way to generate traffic .. perhaps not as effective as it used to be .. but still an important part of a marketers arsenal of tactics to generate traffic.

The problem is it takes time and is, to be honest, boring! Well I think so anyway.

One of the ways that you can speed up the process of writing articles is to use an article ‘spinner’ – a piece of software that will effectively re-write your articles for you using alternative words and phrases. On the face of it, a mighty fine way to save a bunch of time.

Now – cards on the table time – I am not a great fan of these types of software as for me I have to get used to how they work and then I spend a heap of time customizing the article anyway as the alternative words make the article look like its been written by a house fly! And I like to add my own style cause I’m fussy!

BUT – I know people that swear by them – use them a lot – and churn out hundreds of articles. All power to them then!

Now I probably shouldn’t do this but I am going to give you here a FREE copy of Spin Master Pro and Easy Article Spinner. I say ‘shouldn’t’ because I know this is being sold elsewhere online – but I have the ‘Rights’ to do this so what the heck – live on the wild side eh!

It’s a very neat tactic and you should give it a try.

Anyhow – at the end of the 28 minute video Dave suggests that you should take a look at a product called ‘Clickbank Cash’ – that you can buy as it will help you implement the Code and multiply your effectiveness with this tactic. This is a more sophisticated article spinner software.

He does not say that you must have ‘Clickbank Cash’ though to make this work. I emphasize that because I am very aware of the criticism of Clickbank Cash as a product – you know, the $37 rip-off variety.

I can’t really tell you myself to buy it or not buy it – up to you. But Dave does show you how to use the software from Clickbank Cash to implement this method of article marketing. So your choice!
