Most of us take pride in our homes and realise that in order for our humble abode to look nice the windows needs to be clean, which for some is a bit of a chore. There are options such as hiring a window cleaner and this is still the safest option if you need to clean those windows on the second floor of your home on the outside.

However, if you are more interested in keeping the inside of your windows clean then the Karcher WV 50 looks to be the perfect tool for the job – well that’s according to the recent TV commercial we saw. We were sent this Window Cleaning Vacuum a few days ago, although we have to point out that we were not sent the spray bottle to make the cleaning process easier, but we made do with a sponge and some washing up liquid.

You’ll know from the moment you take the window vacuum from the box you have a Kärcher product in your hands because of the yellow and black plastic design, if their idea was for their products to stand out above the rest then they have already ticked that box.

The idea behind the Kärcher WV 50 Window Cleaning Vacuum is to not only clean your windows to leave a streak free shine but also other surfaces, such as mirrors, tiles, condensation, cars and also spills on the floor – obviously not carpets though.

Having tried a number of different products in the past to clean my windows I was a little apprehensive, again we had to make do with using a different cleaning agent and applicator because of not being sent the correct accessories, but we were surprised at the results.

After cleaning the window we were left with a smeared wet surface, which was quickly sucked up to reveal a clean finish, and when we say clean we’re not joking because the results are shocking. Having got carried away (much to my wife’s delight) I found that the lightweight design was a big positive, as my hand did not ache after cleaning the windows in the conservatory. We would advise you to fully charge the device first, or you could get half way and the battery could die on you, which happened to me. The Kärcher Window Vac uses a lithium-ion battery, which can be charged with the adapter allowing you to clean those surfaces without a tangled cord getting in your way.

There is little to no mess because you can just use the spray applicator (seen below) and then the Vac will suck up the residue into its collector bottle, which you can then empty once full or when you have finished what you needed to clean.

I personally know someone with this device and they said by using the Kärcher cleaning solution and applicator they did say that it can leave streaks, so I was glad to have used a sponge and washing up liquid because I had a streak free finish – just something worth remembering. Having said that, we are told that after using the correct cleaning solution a few times your windows will not streak, so it’s up to you if you want to pay the extra or not?

Whatever way you look at it this Window Vac will make life much easier for you – well it did for me.

It’s a bad day if you are the owner of a German built car because both Porsche and BMW have announced a recall of some of their vehicles over potential problems. The former are recalling the 2012 911 Carrera S while the latter is having to recall the 2003 and 2010 BMW 5 and 6 series.

The issue with the 911 is because there could be interference with the coolant and fuel line, which in some cases could mean that the fuel line could become disconnected to the connector, if this happens then fuel could leak causing a misfire or in some cases the car could stall, which could be dangerous in certain situations and could even catch fire.

Those who have affected vehicles will be notified by Porsche and have their car booked in to be repaired for free, this should begin in April. For those who fear they have an affected model should contact Porsche on 1-800-767-7243. More details can be found by visiting the NHTSA website.

As for BMW the issue is much worse because there are 1.3 million vehicles being recalled due to a potential issue with the battery-cable cover, we are told that this is one of the largest recalls for the German automaker. There are cases where the cable cover that is inside the trunk/boot could be fitted incorrectly, if this is the case then there could be a failure with the electrical system, which could lead to a possible fire risk.

BMW 5 and 6 Series built between 2003 and 2010 could be affected so you are advised to contact your local dealer or customer service in your region; thankfully there have been no reports of injury. Those affected by the recall will be notified by BMW soon and the free fix will only take 30 minutes to resolve. Again more details on this recall can be found by heading over to the WSJ.

Citroen knows that if they have any hope of competing with the likes of Mercedes and BMW then they will need to offer drivers something special, and they believe the Citroen DS9 to be it. We have to say that some of the recent spy shots of this car certainly look inspirational; we just hope that the French maker is able to deliver on their promise.

We already knew what the car was going to look like from some concept images, but was finally nice to see the first pictures of Citroen’s flagship model on the streets ahead of its big unveiling during the Beijing Motor Show. The images that you can see either here or in one of the videos below gives you the chance to see the actual first shots, and it’s easy to see that the DS9 has been inspired by the concept C6-based Metropolis.

There have already been a few production DS models for Europe, these are the DS3, DS4 and the DS5; all are good in their own way but nothing like the DS9. We have yet to receive any firm details on specs, what the interior will look like or even price – let’s hope that Citroen feel a little generous next month.

According to one report we should expect a spacious interior, well they need to because this car will be aimed at the Chinese business market. This is a shrewd move by Citroen because it’s a known fact that the Chinese auto market is growing at an alarming rate and big automakers need to stay ahead of the game, as Chinese car manufactures are also trying to prosper, even if their vehicles are inferior – for now.

Back to the car itself, we do expect the DS9 to be powered by a 2-liter V6 engine but will get additional power from an electric motor, the two should be able to deliver around 460bhp and give off just 70g/km of CO2 emissions, which would be pretty impressive for such a large car.

Because the DS9 is still in the concept stage a number of things that you see in those images and videos may not make it to the production model, two things that could be lost are those wing mirrors and even those awesome looking wheels – well they’re not practical for the business market. However, we do expect the design of the DS9 to stay pretty much the same – well we hope.

There seems to be a huge focus on the Mac lineup and from what we have learned Apple will soon have to start overcoming the challenges ahead, although the release of these may not be as soon as you think. We have to remember that last year the iMac was released in early 2011, the MacBook Air in July and the Pro in October, although we have seen these releases change over the years.

It’s still not certain that Apple will introduce the Retina screen to their Mac range but they will have to overcome some of the issues the iPad had too, having said that there is more room to play in the Mac range. While it’s a nice thought to think that your new MacBook and iMac will be sporting an improved display, it’s no guarantee though that you will get double the pixels and also the fact that a Retina iMac would have much better quality than a MacBook.

Another issue is with the cost of implementing Retina to the Mac range because it will be much harder to offset the price on products that don’t sell as much as an iPad. Now Apple could do three things, swallow the cost, pass the increase on to the customer or cut corners in other areas.

There’s an interesting article that suggest that these improved displays require far more power, which could have an affect on the battery performance of the new 2012 MacBook range – if they go for the Retina display that is. This will mean that the MacBook range will require a beefier battery and there have been suggestions that this will need to be increased by 70 percent at least – not certain if they will be able to increase it by this much?

That’s not the only issue because once you add in a Retina, then a bigger battery this in turn means that the weight will have to increase, there’s another downside though because both the MacBook Air and Pro would run much hotter, which will not be welcomed by users. One final area where the MacBook range needs to improve on is RAM because we know that they only offer 2GB to 4GB, a perfect number would be 8GB to 16GB at least in this day and age.

We can clearly see that Apple has their work cutout because if they implement one design change it has a huge knock on effect down the line, so this is why we say they need to overcome these challenges.

Looking into the unknowns – it’s almost certain that the new MacBook Pro will have a completely new design and go down the MacBook Air root by having a much slimmer unibody, but we are not so certain on the rumor that it will come with a touchscreen because of issues with its practicality. Do you feel the Mac lineup needs a Retina display?

Whenever Apple release an S version of the iPhone many users seem to feel letdown because they expect so much more, but it seems as though we are more worried about what the device looks like rather than what it performs like. This was the issue with the 4S because many of my friends (Apple haters) thought it would be funny to say it’s just the same as the outgoing model, but they never seem to think there’s more going on inside. Anyway this will not be an issue this year because the new iPhone 5 will look decidedly different – the question is how though?

In the coming months we will no doubt begin to hear many rumors not only concerning the release date for the 6th-genertaion iPhone but also its hardware specs and more importantly to some, the design of the exterior. We do find it interesting that so many people out there have differing approaches when it comes to how the new iPhone 5 will look.

Over the years we have seen that Apple likes to be very different when it comes to what their products look like, you only have to look at the iMac and when the MacBook Air was first launched, but it was the original iPhone that amazed many of us. Apple knows that they need to keep ahead of the game and while some of you will now suggest they are falling ever further behind, we should remember that they always have a way of surprising us.

A recent article looks at how Apple could surprise us by making good on one of their patents that will offer an all-glass portable device, which as we know would help to increase signal strength because it would flow unhindered. Most of the iPhone is already made from glass, with just the metal antenna band running around the edge of the device. If this were the case then Apple would need to put the antenna back on the inside, which would not pose much of an issue for signal but we do fear that this could take up valuable space for the latter, as we know the iPhone is not exactly king when it comes to battery performance.

While it’s hard to come to terms with an all-glass iPhone we are almost certain that the 6th-genertaion model will have a larger display, there have been many suggestions in regards to its size but not for a 4.6-inch model. We have seen many Android phones getting bigger but we just don’t know if current iPhone users would want such a big device in their hands? Personally speaking I would like my next iPhone to come with a larger screen and I think 4.6-inch would be the maximum, although 4.3-inch would be preferable. There are many other aspects we would love to see change with the iPhone 5 such as these, which as you will see will make Apple’s next iPhone far more superior.

These are two different approaches to the new iPhone 5 but which of the two would you rather see, an all-glass design or a much-needed larger version?

Now that the new Apple TV (third-generation) is available consumers will be able to see just what has changed, although many of us will be hard pushed to see the differences unless they have a good TV to take full advantage of the 1080p Full HD feature. The device also comes with the 5.0 update but we can’t help notice that there are still a few issues, which we hope to see Apple fix and bring in some other new features with update 5.1.

Those with the second-generation Apple TV will have to update their software to 5.0 and in most cases this will be an automatic process, you may on occasion have to go into the settings and force an update yourself. The changes within the update are certainly being welcomed because the menus are now much improved and we also love how you can now stream iTunes movies from the Cloud.

Having already established that the new features makes Apple TV a much better device, it’s been pointed out that all is not perfect because a few flaws have been found. There have been instances where the remote for the Apple TV will not only sync with that device but also a Mac as well, being able to control the latter when you wish to control the former will be a huge pain so a fix is needed. Again we have to point out this is not a widespread issue but we would like to know if you are suffering with this problem?

We’ve also learned that you are unable to control the volume without a TV remote, which as you would imagine can become a huge pain. One of the biggest issues that needs to be resolved with update 5.1 is allowing users to gain access to apps, all their iOS and new Mac devices can use apps so it’s about time that Apple TV can as well.

It’s no secret that Apple wants in on the gaming market so it makes sense to allow those with Apple TV to be able to download apps and start playing them on a larger screen. Having said that, we have to wonder if Apple are saving this feature for their (rumored) iTV device, which we hope to see in the not too distant future?

What other features would you like to see implemented in the 5.1 update for Apple TV? To see how Apple’s latest device ticks we have a teardown for you to enjoy.

Update: Having done some research we have learned that you can get around the first issue by switching off the IR receiver on your Mac.

Since the launch of the App Store we have seen some amazing apps released that just seems to make us laugh and have fun, yes there are a ton of games like Angry Birds and Temple Run but we love the little gimmicky ones that just puts a smile on our face, such as the those that allows you to talk and interact with them. If you are looking for something like this then maybe you should talk with Simsimi?

As with all apps they always seem to be in a constant battle between Apple and Android but there seems to be some unison between the two these days, and that is how some users think that teaching Simsimi abuse is fun. Okay, it’s obvious that this was always going to happen but we can’t help feel that such a fun app is now being spoiled, although we have to remember that it’s down to each user what they wish to teach their little friend.

To get an idea of the kind of abuse that people have been subjecting Simsimi to then we suggest you watch the first video we have embedded for you below, although we have to warn that some of what is said can be insulting to some.

If your child is going to use Simsimi or you hate all the abuse then do not worry because you are able to turn on or off the Bad Expression Filter, which you can do in Settings. We have tried the app and while it was fun for a while it doesn’t take long for the novelty factor to wear off – maybe that’s why some users have decided to get abusive instead?

There were a few known issues with the app, such as being timed out because of busy servers amongst others, but you’ll pleased to know that SimSimi Inc. released version 3.6 on March 6, 2012 to resolve those issues.

For those who have never used Simsimi before then we suggest you view the second video, which is a review of just how the app works. We just have to point out this is the previous version so will notice one or two bugs with the app in the footage.

One of the most interesting videos we found is the one where they manage to interact with Simsimi via Siri, now we have no idea how they are doing this so if you can enlighten our readers then that would be great?

How long will it be before the novelty factor of Simsimi wears off, just like it has with Siri for me?

Now that Apple has upgraded the iPad their next device waiting for a refresh is the MacBook Pro and while we may think the usual suspects will see an improvement, such as the CPU and graphics there’s also another possibility, a touch gimmick. There have been rumors like this before but we wonder if there could actually be some truth to the possibility this time, as we know that touch will feature heavily with Windows 8, which is due for release in October of this year?

Apple were not the first to offer touchscreen devices but what they did was improve on it with the original iPhone, and since then we have seen all sorts of devices upgraded so that people are able to control smartphones, tablets, PC’s and much more just with the gesture of thier fingers. Microsoft are still on their back foot and need to find ways to get back on top and they believe that Windows 8 being more reliant on touch is the way to go, so one would assume Apple would do the same with their upcoming products, and with Mac OS X Mountain Lion being inspired by the iPad you have to wonder if there will be touch support?

We have seen in the past that Windows 7 was able to support touch but for those of you who have tried it there’s a long way to go, but then again a lot of that is down to the third-party hardware. Personally I feel the idea of having a touchscreen on a MacBook Pro is a bit of a gimmick because after playing with a few Windows PC’s it just doesn’t feel right. Having touch on a tablet is perfect because the tasks that you perform are pretty basic, but on your main computer things need to be far more precise and using your finger to do fine details is never going to work – well not yet anyway.

Having said that it’s hard to ignore the potential of the technology and with Apple putting in a patent back in 2010 it’s hard to ignore the fact that they’re considering it. Apple also has plans to increase the resolution of the MacBook Pro screen to that of the iPad, so it does make sense that they are trying to make their notebook more like their iOS devices.

Personally we feel that Apple will wait at least another year if they were thinking of implementing touchscreen on to their MacBook Pro devices, just until they can gauge how popular the technology will be on Windows 8 laptops. This goes back to Apple not worrying about being the first because they would rather wait and get it right – if they ever do it at all.

What’s more practical than touchcsreen? The smart money would be a sort of MacBook Pro and Air hybrid, so we should expect a much slimmer unibody for the former. Okay so we know that the Pro will lose that little something that has made it stand out but everyone would agree that it’s been long overdue to go on a diet. However, there’s a worry that Apple maybe taking a step back with the graphics becasue while we thought they were moving away from AMD and going with NVIDIA, it now seems like they could be going for an integrated Intel Ivy Bridge graphics instead.

Where do you stand on the whole touchscreen saga and what would be the perfect graphics setup for you with the upcoming MacBook Pro 2012 refresh? One thing we do know though, Apple has been very aggressive with their pricing in recent years, but don’t expect any MacBook Pro sale deals because they just won’t be there – not unless you are looking to purchase an outgoing model from stores looking to get rid of old stock.

Below we have three videos for you, the first is a simple way for you to create a working touchscreen on a current MacBook Pro, the second is an animation of what such a device would look like if ever released and the final video is footage of a Dell Latitude E6420 running with Windows 8 with full touchscreen support.

The Samsung Galaxy Note from what we are hearing is still a very popular Android device; one reason is because it bridges the gap between the smartphone and the tablet much better because of that 5.3-inch screen. The phone is a bit on the large side to be considered a phone and too small for a tablet so we have to consider the Note as some sort of Hybrid.

We have four visual reviews for you to gauge an idea regarding the Note and if you think it’s a worthy smartphone or whatever we should be calling it? The handset itself has a very stable platform because it has been built on top of the ever-popular Galaxy S II, although there are a few needed upgrades to make the device more relevant – well it is newer after all.

Our first video review will be interesting because they have had the European version of the Samsung Galaxy Note for just over a month so have given it a decent test drive, he does say you need to make certain you are prepared to have such a big device in your pocket for the next two years though.

It’s easy to see that the Note looks a little silly because of its size and could take time to catch on, but look what was said about the iPhone when that was first introduced. The reviewer said that he is going to find it hard going back to his everyday phone because the Note is so good – the biggest issue will be the size difference.

In the next video review goes on for almost 30 minutes and from the start the women in the video is full of praise for the Galaxy Note, and even though she points out the size of the thing she does say that it’s pretty manageable. While the reviewer is informative we can’t help think she is speaking a little too fast – much like the wife does when I’ve done something wrong.

The third video is much easier to understand because the guy in the video is not talking too fast or getting over excited about the Galaxy Note, instead he’s just keeping a level head and going over all the facts that you need to know. While he does his best to explain all there is to know about the device we can’t help feel the quality of the video could have been better.

Our final video the reviewer explains that AT&T are calling this a Super Phone because of its size, which makes the iPhone 4S look silly once placed side-by-side with each other. The market for the Samsung Galaxy Note might not be like it is for the Galaxy S II, but Samsung are not stupid and are doing their best to cater for all consumer needs – even though it’s a little over the top.

Honda is back in the news again and not for the right reasons, it seems that their recall lists is ever growing because the 2008/2009 Odyssey minivans and ATVs have issues with their rear doors and upper suspension arm. According to reports the gas-powered struts that help to keep the power tailgate in position could in some cases fail, which may cause a serious injury.

The recall was announced today and will include the 2008 and 2009 model with 45,000 vehicles in total, the models in the list are the Odyssey EX-L and Touring vans. Owners of the affected vehicles will begin to receive notification from March 13, which does seem a little too long to wait for those who are now worried their support rods on their tailgate could fail.

The risk could be serious because if the tailgate does come down on someone’s head it could cause an injury, without these struts taking the weight of the tailgate they are very heavy and will fall with a great amount of force.

According to a recent article there have been two incidents where injuries have occurred, thankfully both were not serious. Honda reports that this is a manufacturing flaw where gas can leak from the struts, so you are advised to be careful if you have reason to believe you have an Odyssey minivan that could be affected by this recall.

Once Honda put the recall into effect owners can check out recalls.honda.com or call (800) 999-1009 and select option 4. If your vehicle has been identified as a faulty model then all you need to do is visit your local Honda garage to get the problem fixed for free. The Odyssey has been involved in two recalls in the past couple of years one in 2010 and another in 2011, the former was for a braking issue (see video below) and the second for windshield wiper issues.

As for the ATVs the list of VIN models can be seen in an article here, which is the two-wheeled drive 2012 Honda FourTrax Rancher. There have been four incidents involving the weld failures on the suspension arm, there have not been any serious injuries expect for a sprained wrist. It’s good news to hear this but we cannot help but fear something worse could happen if action was not taken; you are advised to visit this website or call (866) 784-1870.
