Unfortunately, my wife Patty “pulled” due to lameness half way through the first day, but congratulations to everyone else who completed.

A couple of years ago, I was able to sell the cover of a saddle catalog to a manufacturer in Australia via emails back and forth. For that one, I had to get a model release from the young lady with her horse from a senior portrait session. I was able to get the student’s mother to sign the release and the image license was sold and paid for via Paypal invoice before the image was delivered.

Great management and lots of great help from Oaats volunteers and works from Elkins Creek Horse Camp were handed challenges from nature. Nature had its way with the Black Sheep Boogie Endurance ride with heavy rains just before the day of the ride and high temperatures and humidity which all made for a very challenging event. The rain softened up some trails which had been just dandy days before.

Although it didn’t rain the days of the events, the humidity was high along with the temperatures. Congratulations to all who finished. You’ll want pictures to remember the challenges of this ride.

I am currently working on the pictures from the event. Give me till MONDAY night to load them all up and give you a link. I will give you a small peek at a couple of images from the ride. This is experimental and guaranteed (if there are glitches or problems with the app, I will refund your investment). However if it proves to be more work than I anticipate, the price will go up. Update: Back Sheep Boogie Dodged a Bullet

It appears that Black Sheep Boogie just dodged a bullet. Riders coming from East of the ride in West Virginia saw torrential rains, swollen rivers, flooded towns and more on June 24th. Riders called in from East of the ride to say they would not be able to fill their camping spot due to a state of emergency in West Virginia. While we suffered from the high humidity and sloppy trails in some areas from the rain that came the two days before the ride start, area to the East of the ride in West Virginia only an hour or two away was suffering devastating floods.

It was great photographing the Top of the Rock endurance ride at Deem Lake. The weather was pretty good although it did get pretty hot and humid for the horses and riders and there and that played a part in the competition rate.

Many of the trails, I was told, were closed due to logging that was going on in the park so for the 50’s there was one grueling loop that everyone was talking about. Slippery, rocky, and steep for miles it seemed. Many people used almost all their time getting through.

Therefore, THE WINNER of the free equine session has TWO DAYS to respond by email once I email to them. After two days I will select another winner and so on until someone acknowledges with a reply email.

Here are the requirements to be a winner:

1. You own or ride a horse that we can photograph with you
2. Your horse is within one hour of my location (or you may choose to pay a mileage fee and still receive the prize package at no charge)

Some of the images from your session will be used to inspire others to get their session scheduled. So many people wait too long. The grass turns brown and the pictures are not as beautiful as they could have been during the spring and early summer. Your winning images will be used to get the ball rolling and to inspire other to schedule their session sooner.
