It’s taken a lot of time but like the yoghurt covered digestive it’s worth the wait. PetStockBoys has a new website and crikey it’s a lovely lovely thing. Have a gander and see what we’ve been up to…. there’s a ‘chicken and egg’ situation captured in The Sunday Times and we’ve gone fruit batty in The Telegraph, You Magazine, BBC Good Food and ‘other quality publications.’ We hope to keep you up-to-date every month but give us a tinkle if we can be of service.

Hello

As you can see from our last post, we’ve been a little preoccupied since August…. and it is with much regret that we have to suspend this blog, we are knee-deep in work and other NEW plans, it’s all very complicated but very,very exciting. We hope to be back in blogmode at some point but we can’t say when, we could make something up but that would be silly…… Big love to everyone out there and if you want any help or assistance with animal photography or pet photography we are but a mere phone call away on 01908 566 366.

Dear Reader, Well we’ve had a bit of a break and have some great new images for the site - Scottish sheep, highland cattle and a very scary looking rook - I mean a sort of evil personified with wings. We’ve got some new groovy business cards with Ratty on them (cool) and we’ve even splurged on some new Canon kit. Sadly, we didn’t win at The ChipShop Awards (we’d travelled all the way from Milton Keynes to Edinburgh) but on the train home we had M&S sandwiches and a big jelly (with raspberries) which cheered us up a bit. Karen, our chief photographer has been mentioned in Photobox and her website has been inundated with visitors, so we’d like to say well done and why didn’t we think of that…….. Today is Bank Holiday so we really should be out and about shooting animals, best have a cup of tea and prepare……TTFN

We are HUGELY excited and feeling quite chipper as we have been nominated in The ChipShop awards (www.chipshopawards.com) which we think are by far the coolest creative awards. PetStockBoys are up for best Business to Business Ad. The other nominations in this category are from two advertising agencies - one of which is part of DDB so we’re extra thrilled. The awards ceremony is 23rd August - so paws are crossed.

How to soak a Badger…

My bath is getting cold but talking of water….I just have to mention that our model collie - Badger was a superduper star last week and gamely got soaking wet in the name of art. We shot him in a small lake (a local field had become flooded) as he bounced up in the air to catch a stick. It was time to get out the big gun (P21 digitalback) and the results are incredible. We were relieved that we didn’t drop the camera in the water.�? If you know anyone who would love some huge prints of some wet dog action (appologies as that sounds a tad rude) let us know. We’ll prob put them on Flickr nice & big! Now where did I put me sponge……?

Just up the road there are some adorable kittens and we had the terrible job of (digitally) shooting these balls of fluff, in the end we spotted a sweetie and she became our unofficial star. Sadly she has no name but we came up with Marmalade as she’s ginger and sticky (well if you take your hands off her she sticks her itty bitty claws in your jumper. She also has the most awesome blue eyes and two of them which is a bonus. We also managed to get her and her mum together, bit tricky but one wet grass covered knee later and voila. The pix will get uploaded next week but until then I’ll just have to be mean and say she’s soooooooooooooooooo little and sooooooooo cute.

PSB & BBC Wildlife Magazine!

Much excitement as we’ve flogged a shot to BBC Wildlife Magazine - it’s in the June issue, the one with a lovely bunny on the front and our shot is on page 58. Our shot is of two bunnies jumping on each other (we think they were playing but then Biology was never�? our strong point.) But BBC Wildlife magazine is one of our fave magazines and the quality is very very high so we’re all very excited - pass round those gypsy creams! We’ll pop the shot in press cuttings or Flickr next week.

The smallest buns you’ve ever seen

Mark and I ventured into bunnyworld and stalked some furry friends that had taken residence in a huge hill, Mark thought it wasn’t ‘exactly a hill but more of a mound’ - ‘hillocks’ I said, to which he replied ‘there’s no need to be like that.’ Anyway we stalked and then sat, waited and pondered and then I found a patch of stinging nettles - ouch.

You couldn’t get that close to the big buns as they were way too wary but the smaller bunnies were wonderful but so fast. Then suddenly one tiny little bunny popped out of his burrow and sat for a few seconds - just time to focus, get him fullframe and take just two shots. It was a great afternoon and proof that it’s a bunny old world.

Popped up to Bucks and discovered a field of Jersey cows, beautiful, cuddly and eyelashes to kill for, they were very friendly and we got a little lick from a big sticky tongue. Unfortunately, Karen got pronged by the electric fence - she was wearing clean knickers and was well earthed but it took a mug of tea and custard doughnut to recover from the ’shock.’ Moo pix to follow.

Telephone Sales People

I don’t know perhaps it’s us but we do get a lot of phone calls from people trying to flog us stuff and they can be a bit rude and pushy. We know that people have a job to do but sometimes when you say no, that should be it.

When we’ve had enough we can get a bit peeved and this is what we say..

‘What part of no don’t you understand?’

‘I’m sorry but I’ve lost the will to live’

‘I’ll have to go there’s someone at the fridge’

‘My three o-clock horse is here’

If they revert to asking for the person that deals with marketing/advertising/the website etc

We sometimes reply…

‘I’m sorry she’s melted’

‘Do you speak Polish?’

‘Did they ask you to call?’

‘Why not give me your number and I’ll phone you at a completely inopportune moment’

‘He can’t talk he’s sucking a big gobstopper - it could be days before we get another word out of him’

‘He’s on a three year sabbatical’

‘He’s on remand’

Failing that (and if it’s a Friday) we sometimes take it in turns, to call like a dolphin down the phone (the extra keen add in their own flapping & splashing noises.)
