अलंकार

अलंकार म्हणजे भूषणे, दागिने. शरीर शोभायमान दिसण्यासाठी अंगावर दागिने घालतात. शरीराची शोभा दागिने अधिक खुलवतात. आपली भाषा सुंदर व्हावी, म्हणून भाषेतही भूषणांचा, अलंकारांचा उपयोग कवि आणि लेखक करत असतात. विशेषत: पद्यात अलंकार अधिक शोभून दिसतात. गद्यसुद्धा अलंकारांनी सुंदर दिसते. ‘मुख सुंदर दिसते’ किंवा ‘मुख सुंदर आहे’ ही साधी (गद्य) वाक्ये झाली; ‘परंतु ‘मुख कमलासारखे सुंदर आहे’ किंवा ‘मुख जणू कमलच आहे’ असे म्हटले तर ते अधिक सुंदर दिसते. यालाच अलंकारिक भाषा म्हणतात. अलंकारिक भाषण किंवा अलंकारिक लेखन सर्वांना आवडते. त्यांत एक प्रकारची चमत्कृती दिसते व मन आनंदित होते.

पद्यामध्ये शब्दांची किंवा अक्षरांची पुनरुक्ती असली, की त्यामध्ये नादमाधुर्य येते. अशा शब्दचमत्कृतीची पद्यात योजना असली, तर त्या पद्यात ‘शब्दालंकार’ असतो. पद्यात अर्थचमत्कृती प्रामुख्याने असली, तर त्या पद्यात, ‘अर्थालंकार’ असतो.

अलंकारांचे ‘शब्दालंकार’ आणि ‘अर्थालंकार’ असे दोन मुख्य प्रकार आहेत.

I) शब्दालंकार

जे अलंकार शब्दांच्या केवळ विशिष्ट रचनेवरच अवलंबून असतात, शब्दांची चमत्कृती शब्दांचा अर्थ आणि शब्दयोजना यांच्यावर आधारीत अलंकारांना ‘शब्दालंकार’ म्हणतात.
प्रकार-

1.अनुप्रास

कवितेच्या चरणात एकाच अक्षराची पुनरावृत्ती होऊन त्यातील नादामुळे जेव्हा सौंदर्य प्राप्त होते तेव्हा अनुप्रास अलंकार होतो.

उदा. गडद निळे गडद निळे जलद भरुनि आले,
शीतल तनु चपल चरण अनिलगण निघाले
( गडद गडद जलदची पुनरावृत्ती)

2.यमक

शब्दालंकाराचे अनेक प्रकार आहेत. त्यांत ‘यमक’ हा अलंकार महत्वाचा आहे. एखादा शब्द किंवा अक्षर पुनःपुन्हा पद्यात चरणांती आले, की तेथे ‘यमक’ हा अलंकार होतो.
उदा.
मना चंदनाचे परी त्वा झिजावे |
परी अंतरी सज्जना नीववावे ||
या वैभवाला तुझ्या पाहुनिया, मला स्फूर्ति नृत्यार्थ होते जरी |
सामर्थ्य नामी तुझ्या जन्मभूमी, तसे पहिले मी न कोठे तरी |
अशा शब्दांनी नादमाधुर्य निर्माण झालेल्या पद्यपंक्ती तुमच्या पाठ्यपुस्तकातील कवितांतून निवडून काढा.
3.श्लेष
एकच शब्द वाक्यात दोन अर्थानी वापरल्यामुळे जेव्हा शब्दचमत्कृती निर्माण होते तेव्हा ‘श्लेष’ हा अलंकार होतो.
उदा.
मित्राच्या उद्याने कोणास आनंद होत नाही. (मित्र = सखा, मित्र = सूय)
श्रीकृष्ण नवरा मी नवरी |
शिशुपाल नवरा मी न-वरी ||

II) अर्थालंकार

दोन सुंदर वस्तूंमधील साम्य दर्शवून पद्यामध्ये अर्थचमत्कृती आणली जाते. तेथे अर्थालंकार होतो. बहुतेक अर्थालंकार अशा साम्यावर आधारित असतात. त्यात चार गोष्टी महत्वाच्या असतात.
ज्या गोष्टीचे वर्णन कवी करत असतो, तिला अलंकारात ‘उपमेय’ असे म्हणतात. ‘मुख कमलासारखे सुंदर आहे’ या वाक्यामध्ये मुखाचे वर्णन कवी करत आहे, म्हणून ‘मुख’ हे ‘उपमेय’ आहे.
उपमेयाचे साम्य ज्या दुसऱ्या गोष्टीशी कवी दाखवतात, तिला ‘उपमान’ असे म्हणतात. वरील वाक्यात मुखाचे साम्य कमलाशी दाखवले आहे, म्हणून ‘कमल’ हे तेथे ‘उपमान’ आहे.
उपमेय आणि उपमान यांमधील साम्य दर्शवणाऱ्या गुणधर्माला ‘साधर्म्य’ किंवा ‘समान धर्म’ असे म्हणतात. वाक्यात उपमेय ‘मुख’ आणि उपमान ‘कमळ’ यांमध्ये साम्य दाखवणारा गुण सुंदरता हा आहे.
उपमेय आणि उपमान यांमधील साम्य दर्शवणाऱ्या शब्दाला ‘साधर्म्यसूचक शब्द’ किंवा ‘साम्यसूचक शब्द’ म्हणतात.
वरील वाक्यात ‘कामलासारखे मुख’ यातील ‘सारखे’ हा ‘साधर्म्यसूचक’ शब्द आहे.
प्रकार -
1.उपमा
उपमेय हे उपमानासारखेच आहे, असे जेथे वर्णन असते, तेथे ‘उपमा’ हा अलंकार असतो.
उपमा अलंकारात सम, समान, सारखे, वाणी, जसे, तसे, प्रमाण, सदृश, परी, तुल्य यांपैकी एखादा साधर्म्यसूचक शब्द असतो.
लाट उसळोनी जळी खळे व्हावे,
त्यात चंद्राचे चांदणे पडावे,
तसे गाली हासता तुझ्या व्हावे,
उचंबळूनी लावण्या वर वहावे ||
2.उत्प्रेक्षा
उपमेय हे उपमानच आहे असे जेथे वर्णन असते, तेथे ‘उत्प्रेक्षा’ हा अलंकार असतो.
उत्प्रेक्षा अलंकारात जणू, जणूकाही, जणूकाय, की, गमे, वाटे, भासे, म्हणजे यांपैकी एखादा साधर्म्यसूचक शब्द असतो.
विद्या हे पुरुषास रूप बरवे, की झाकले द्रव्यही
तिच्या कळ्या | होत्या मिटलेल्या सगळ्या |
जणू दमल्या | फार खेळूनी, मग निजल्या ||
3.व्यतिरेक
या प्रकारच्या अलंकारामध्ये उपमेय हे उपमानापेक्षा सरस असल्याचे वर्णन केलेले असते.
उदा.
अमृताहुनीही गोड नाम तुझे देवा
तू माउलीहुनी मायाळ | चंद्राहूनी शीतळ
पाणियाहूनी पातळ | कल्लोळ प्रेमाचा
4.अतिशयोक्ती
कोणतीही कल्पना आहे त्यापेक्षा खूप फुगून सांगताना त्यातील असंभाव्यता अधिक स्पष्ट करून सांगितलेली असते त्यावेळी हा अलंकार होतो.
उदा.
दमडीचं तेल आणलं, सासूबाईचं न्हाण झालं ||
मामंजीची दाढी झाली, भावोजींची शेंडी झाली ||
उरलेलं तेल झाकून ठेवलं, लांडोरीचा पाय लागला |
वेशीपर्यंत ओघळ गेला त्यात उंट पोहून गेला ||
5.दृष्टान्त
एखादे तत्त्व, एखादी गोष्ट किंवा कल्पना पटवून देण्यासाठी तसाच एखादा दाखला किंवा उदाहरण दिल्यास ‘दृष्टान्त’ अलंकार होतो.
उदा.
लहानपण देगा देवा | मुंगी साखरेचा रवा |
ऐरावत रत्न थोर | त्यासी अंकुशाचा मार ||
तुकाराम महाराज परमेश्वराकडे लहानपण मागतात ते कशासाठी हे पटवून देताना मुंगी होऊन साखर मिळते आणि ऐश्वर्यसंप ऐरावत होऊन अंकुशाचा मार खावा लागतो अशी उदाहरणे देतात.
6.स्वभावोक्ती
एखाद्या व्यक्तीचे, वस्तूचे, प्राण्याचे, त्याच्या स्वाभाविक हालचालींचे यथार्थ वैशिष्ट्यपूर्ण वर्णन करणे हा या भाषेचा अलंकार ठरतो तेव्हा ‘स्वभावोक्ती’ अलंकार होतो.
उदा.
मातीत ते पसरले अति रम्य पंख |
केले वरी उदर पांडुर निष्कलंक ||
चंचू तशीच उघडी पद लांबविले |
निष्प्राण देह पडला श्रमही निमाले ||
7.विरोधाभास
एखाद्या विधानाला वरवरचा विरोध दर्शविला जातो पण तो वास्तविक विरोध नसतो. तेव्हा विरोधाभास अलंकार होतो.
उदा.
जरी आंधळी मी तुला पाहते.
मरणात खरोखर जग जगते ||
