Tokimonsta, Daedelus, and Shlohmo @ The Glass House videos!

2011-04-29T19:11:00.000-07:00

I promised videos! Got some Daedelus vids uploading right now, will add them later.

This video isn't mine. I recorded the same part (plus a little bit more at the beginning), but this one has better audio quality. This was the highlight of Toki's performance for me. It's a mashup/edit of Timbaland's Ayo Technology beat, mashed up with Max Romeo's I Chase the Devil, and some other song I can't put my finger on. She also played the same mashup/edit at both of her Coachella performances so I was lucky enough to hear it three times!

Daedelus, Tokimonsta, and Shlohmo - 4/23 @ The Glass House, Pomona, CA

2011-04-24T22:51:00.000-07:00

Awesome show! Been a big fan of all three and it was the perfect opportunity to satisfy my post-Coachella craving for some good live music.

Shlohmo.

Tokimonsta.

Daedelus.

Really fun night... Will post some footage of all three tomorrow.

Random Bits

2011-04-21T17:30:00.000-07:00

Post Coachella music listening isn't the same... all the tunes I used to love now sound boring as shit after hearing them live.

Anyyyways, here's some random bits, mostly Coachella inspired.

LOVE Tokimonsta... Saw her twice at Coachella and I've got a ticket to see her as well as Daedelus and Shlohmo on Saturday. Should be fun.

Speaking of Shlohmo...

Why not some Daedelus as well?

I love this record so much... It was an honor getting to meet Kode9 himself at Coachella... Incredibly nice guy.

Lorn was another fantastic performance... One of many great Brainfeeder artists who was there.

NUTS! This one especially really got the ladies in the crowd moving... Surprised I still managed to snag a copy on Redeye.

Beefy tune. Great remix of a great original.

I'm back, bitches ;)

2011-04-20T22:36:00.000-07:00

I know I've been gone for a while, but it was really just an absence from posting. I was actually still reading you guys' blogs pretty frequently.

Anyways, let's kick it off with this absolutely fantastic tune from Tyler, the Creator. Not the type of stuff you would normally expect from him to be honest.

Lykke Li - I Follow Rivers (Tyler the Creator Mix) by factmag

I'll be posting lots more soon :)

Sorry...

2011-04-03T16:10:00.001-07:00

Sorry for not posting lately, Grampa wasn't doing too well so I flew to Austria with my Dad to visit, he died as soon as the plane landed :(

2011-03-26T13:55:00.000-07:00

About fucking time. Hopefully HDB013 (Street Halo) and SWAMP010 (Mean Streets Pt. 1) will come soon as well.

All nighter....

2011-03-22T23:04:00.001-07:00

Gonna be up all night remixing this one I think... Gorgeous.

Random stuff - Round 2

2011-03-20T16:22:00.000-07:00

Thanks to Knell for this one.

You've all heard it before by now, but I really love this track...

Classic... Rhythm never fails to get my body movin', even if I'm sitting at my desk and end up looking like a retard.

Lovely vibes on this one... Puts a smile on my face every time.

If I had a time machine...

And my favorite song of all time...

Got my hands on Fabriclive 56 early

2011-03-14T19:20:00.000-07:00

Nice variety! This one crosses across too many genres to count. It's even got a bit of shangaan electro. Will definitely be purchasing it as soon as it comes out.

Goth Trad - Two Faced / Sun Beam

MEDI033, big like always

Addison Groove - Work It / Sexual (SWAMP009)

2011-03-13T13:35:00.000-07:00

Can't wait for this one to come in the mail.

Definitely my new favorite Addison Groove record.

Random stuff...

2011-03-12T16:35:00.000-08:00

More witch house hehehe...

Some nice juke from Spinn... Really liking this track and the EP as a whole.

I haven't been into metal for a good two or three years, but it's a refreshing alternative to all the electronic stuff I listen to 99% of the time.

And how about some GY!BE to finish it off... This song is incredible...

Forgive me, for I have sinned...

2011-03-11T22:59:00.000-08:00

I've started listening to far too much Witch House... what is wrong with me?

Great episode, especially Joe Nice's set. Too many quality dubs in there to count.

Too indie for words

2011-03-10T19:11:00.000-08:00

Thanks to my super mega indie buddy Ian for this one. Not normally what I'm into, but I like it.

Forgot how much I liked breakcore...

Enneagram Personality Test

2011-03-10T00:18:00.000-08:00

I'm not normally the type to be into stuff like this, but a friend of mine convinced me to try it.

It's called the Enneagram and the results I got describe me EXACTLY.

I got Type 4 with a Type 5 "wing". I was really shocked as to how accurately the results describe me. I'd be hard pressed to find a statement that doesn't apply to me, aside from a minor one in Five. Here's a few that kind of stood out especially.

Four:

Fours tend to see their difference from others as being both a gift and a curse - a gift, because it sets them apart from those they perceive as being somehow "common," and a curse, as it so often seems to separate them from the simpler forms of happiness that others so readily seem to enjoy.

They long to be understood and appreciated for their authentic selves, but easily feel misunderstood and unappreciated.

They are emotionally centered and spend much of their lives immersed in their internal mental landscapes, where they feel free to cultivate and analyse their feelings. A desire to manifest this internal world often leads Fours to an interest in the arts, and some do become actual artists. Whether artistic or not, however, most Fours are aesthetically sensitive and concerned with self-expression and self-revelation.

Fours are somewhat melancholic by disposition, and under stress tend to lapse into depression.

Easily give way to a self-indulgence which they perceive as being fully justified as a way to compensate for the general lack of pleasure they experience in their lives.

Five:

Fives feel comfortable and at home in the realm of thought.

They are generally intelligent, well read and thoughtful and they frequently become experts in the areas that capture their interest.

Feel little need to alter their beliefs to accommodate majority opinion, and they refuse to compromise their freedom to think just as they please.

Reluctant to ask for the help that others might well be happy to extend to them.

Careless indifference or intellectual arrogance, which has the unfortunate consequence of creating distance between themselves and others.

They are often devoted friends and life long companions.

They often have stronger feelings than they let on.

Some of these traits I have seen in myself before and I've worked hard to conquer some of the more negative ones (the one about intellectual arrogance especially), but they're still there. They're kind of inherent qualities, and if you try and even succeed to mask the more negative ones, they're still there deep down.

Take the test. It might teach you some things about yourself that you never really noticed, but realize are true once they're pointed out to you.

Take the test. Comment with your results and how accurate you feel they are.

Burial meets Clubroot?

2011-03-09T20:26:00.000-08:00

Seems to rest somewhere between those two styles... A bit more polished than Burial (not that that's a good or a bad thing), and yet slightly more raw than Clubroot. I love it...

Tyler, the Creator tells a joke

2011-03-09T20:23:00.000-08:00

There ain't no potatoes!

Anyways, I got myself a ticket to see Syd from Odd Future on the 1st... Apparently the rest of the gang will be there to do a surprise performance, but even if they don't, it should be a good time.

OFWGKTA

2011-03-08T23:18:00.000-08:00

Let's face it, OFWGKTA are huge right now...

I sort of wish I would've payed more attention to them sooner. I remember the Earl video, thought it was pretty sick, but just kind of moved on and forgot about it.

Recently, the frontman of the group, Tyler, the Creator, released this video.

Wicked. The lyrics are clever, the video is top notch, and his personality is hypnotic.

Let's start things off!

2011-03-08T22:39:00.000-08:00

Today I managed to get on GetDarkerTV just in time to watch Joe Nice's set.

He pulled quite a few tunes from his legendary bag of dubs... Highlights were definitely DMZ vs. MZN and Monster, a previously unheard tune by Kromestar. I'm hoping the podcast goes up soon, because I know that I'll be listening to this one for months to come. GetDarker has also stated that they plan on giving Joe Nice his own 3-4 hour show the next time he's around. Definitely won't miss that. Crossing my fingers that he gives Stand Against War a play. Haunting tune by Mala.
