Korea: "Dynamic Busan" Subway

Engineer Einjel went to Korea last June 18 - 24, 2011. The trip was a wonderful opportunity to observe and see the transportation system in Korea. The following photos of Dynamic Busan - a subway service were obtained in Busan, Korea. Subways in Seoul was said to be better than this. But this was way better than our trains in the Philippines. To get a card, commuters just have to buy from the vending machines provided. There were no long queues of people on a booth typical for instance in our MRT 3. Notable also was the guard rails on the train platform. This was designed for the safety of passengers. Hmm, planning to visit Seoul sometime.

Korea: Bus and Bus Stop in Downtown Busan

The following photos of bus and bus stop areas were obtained in Busan, Korea. The buses have wide center area where commuters usually stand. The elders or physically challenged commuters can seat on the few seats provided. The bus stop area was in the middle part of the street in Hadan Station, downtown Busan. The bus stops and picks up passengers along its route at designated bus stop areas only.

Korea: Airport Limousine in Jeju

Engineer Einjel went to Korea last June 18 - 24, 2011. The trip was a wonderful opportunity to observe and see the transportation system in Korea. The following photos of airport limousine and its waiting area were obtained in Jeju, Korea. Jeju is like the Boracay of the Philippines but larger and it has more tourist attractions than beaches alone. Airport limousine bus in Jeju leaves every 20 minutes from the airport and goes to major tourist destinations along east and west route. This service makes travelling very convenient.

Korea: Vehicle Parking Inside a Building

Engineer Einjel went to Korea last June 18 - 24, 2011. The trip was a wonderful opportunity to observe and see the transportation system in Korea. The following is a photo of the entrance/exit of a parking area obtained in Busan, Korea. As you can see in the picture, there is no security guard posted at the entrance/exit of the parking area. The gate has sensors and it automatically opens and closes for entering and exiting vehicles.

Korea: Gimhae International Airport

The following photos of Gimhae (Busan) International Airport were obtained in Busan, Korea. This is the first foreign international airport that Engineer Einjel saw. The terminal for international flights was separated from the terminal for domestic flights but is just a walking distance away.

Korea: Brand New Vehicles

The following photos of brand new vehicles were obtained in Busan, Korea. The government of Korea imposes little tax on brand new vehicles that is why a lot of their citizens are encouraged to buy new vehicles. This in turn has positive implications on the emissions of vehicles. As we know, newer vehicles emit lesser emissions since they have more efficient engines than older ones. Trivia: brand new vehicles in Korea are a lot cheaper there than when bought in the Philippines.

Latest Toll Rates at Nichols Gate

Here's the photo of the toll rates at Nichols gate. The steep increase in the fees was a bit surprising. However, the SLEX should at least maintain their good service in terms of smooth and better highways, and efficient traffic management to compensate for this high charge. The photo above shows the Tokyo Subway Route Map! A friend of mine who toured Japan just recently gave me this. I was awed with how complex and intricate Japan's railway system is which also makes me realize how behind our railway in the country. I hope I will be able to personally see and observe Japan's transportation system to enrich my knowledge and exposure. Soon. Soon. :)

LRT 2 - Light Rail Transit 2

There are only few train lines in Metro Manila. Since this blog is about transportation in the Philippines, it would be most appropriate if the different trains will be featured.

Here is LRT2 or Light Rail Transit 2 which runs from Manila via Quezon City to Pasig. The capacity of LRT2 trains is huge and has not yet been optimized even during peak travel periods. LRT2 trains' body is the largest among other trains. It has provision for the disabled and disadvantaged group of individuals.

Pink MMDA Signs

MMDA = Pink! or Pink = MMDA!

The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) road traffic signs under the supervision of then Chairman Bayani Fernando is a beautiful PINK! It is not that I want the color PINK but it's just that it made the Metro Manila unique. However, this does not mean that I do appreciate it.. heck!?

Now that there is a new man handling the MMDA, I am wondering what would become of the color of traffic signs. Green? Yellow? Blue? Haist!

Anyway, let us take a look at the photos below, a reminder of PINK MMDA or PINK Metro Manila.

Yes, it's traffic.. The photo below shows a regular mid-day traffic in Katipunan Avenue. The presence or convergence of several schools and universities as well as commercial areas along the road corridor is the major reason of severe traffic which is usually experienced by motorists passing that route.

Pinoy's Jeepney Goes Electric

The electric jeepney or E-jeep that runs on electricity is now more environmentally friendly than ordinary vehicles. A hoorah for everyone because this will surely lessen emissions from vehicles.

Reports have said that test runs started as early as mid 2007. Makati CBD is the pioneer city to adopt this technology. The picture below shows the existing Makati Green Route.

These pictures of road traffic signs in the Philippines were taken inside the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) campus. UPD together with some private sectors, have launched UP Traffic Model Zone that aims to make the UP-Diliman campus a model of an ideal road traffic management zone. This is why this place is the best area to take photos of different road traffic signs.

C5 Kalayaan Elevated U-turns

This is the newly constructed elevated u-turns in C5-Kalayaan intersection. The MMDA has been bragging about this first ever in the world structure despite some negative assessments by transport experts. Hopefully, this would indeed solve the traffic congestion problems encountered in the area for relatively long time.
