Cebu Again

2012-03-18T06:10:00.001-07:00

We returned to Cebu hoping to catch a boat going to Luzon. It was late, and none were left, so we ended up staying overnight and catching a plane to Manila.

Bohol

Seeing two things would have been enough to have made my trip to Bohol worth the effort, Chocolate Hills and a tarzier monkey. I saw more than that, and enjoyed every minute while there.

I didn't venture through Cebu. I stopped there long enough to board a boat to Bohol.

Port of Iloilo

Beyond that door is where I slept, for the second time in my whole life, on a boat. The ferry was bound for Cebu City on Cebu Island.

Boracay

The water really did look that blue and my belly really was getting that big.

As our jetty boat was being landed upon Boracay's white shore, we were greeted by about dozen or so business proprietors with business cards in hand inviting us to spend our money at their place. We didn't come here to spend all day of this gorgeous weather inside a plush motel room. Basic accommodations was all we wanted, and one kind lady had just the place not far away.

Can calamari come any fresher than this?

The beach was my dining room.

While there, I found an office where I could get my passport stamped, so that I could stay in the Philippines up to fifty-nine days.

Caticlan Jetty Port Terminal

What scene is not made to look more lovely when a rainbow (or two) graces the sky?

We had to go here, so that we could go there...

I was the first time (as far as I know) that I spent the night on a boat.

I wonder how much change has been made to this place since then. I hope it's been good.

Port of Roxas, Oriental Mindoro

Today, as I was posting this, is March 18, 2012. The pictures above were made in 2006, and all this stuff I wrote came from my memories.

I can't quite remember how we got to this port (some tricycle riding, some jeepney riding perhaps), but it wasn't long after our arrival that we had these picture made, so you can guess that it took us a few hours. The folks we met there treated us very kindly as we wait for the ferry we would ride all night, through rainy weather, to our next destination so that we could go to our NEXT destination.

Puerto Galera

You could call that a boat a "bus on the water." It's how we, friends and I, got from a Batangas pier to Puerto Galera's whilte sandy shore.

Yea! I think this will do.

I knew them as Carlo, Joey, Gerri, and Dante. They knew me as Ron.

That's a fake tattoo.

They had only "Karo" brank clear corn syrup to top that big pancake,

but it was delicious with the instant coffee.

Besides, we're on a tropical island beach, for crying out loud!

Who didn't notice that brown hunk in the reddish shorts?

Hey, Ya wanna buy this?

A view of the room's outside up there.

A view from the room's outside up there.

Another view from the room's outside up there.

Pick the food you want, and that guy under that little roof will roast it.

It was "off season," so there was not as much eye candy around as on a crowded night.

Still, it was a good place to enjoy a few beers, dinner, and whatever there was to see.

Puerto Galera was the first stop on a short trip through the Philippines West Visayas region.

Gerri, Joey, and Carlo returned to Luzon.

Next stop?
