സങ്കടം

മലകളും കൊച്ചു പുഴകളും കാടും
ചേര്‍ന്നു വസിച്ചിരുന്നോരെന്‍ നാടിനെ
വൈദ്യുതി, സമൃദ്ധി, പുരോഗമനം എന്നീപ്പേരിനാല്‍
പുഴകള്‍ വറ്റിച്ചും, മലകള്‍ തകര്‍ത്തും, മരം വെട്ടിയും
മരുഭൂമി സമമാക്കി മാറ്റുന്നതെത്ര സങ്കടം.

സ്വാന്തനം
ഈ പൊടി മണലാരണ്യത്തില്‍ ഞാന്‍
ചോരനീരാക്കി മാറ്റുന്നു,
നിനക്കായും,
നിന്‍റെ സംതൃപ്തിക്കുമായ്.
ശീതള മുറികളില്‍ നീ വസിക്കൂ,
ചുട്ടുപൊള്ളും മണല്‍ക്കാട്ടിലിവിടെ ഞാന്‍
ഒട്ടുകഷ്ടം സഹിച്ചാലും
ഞാനും നീയും സമം സന്തുഷ്ടരാന്നെന്ന സത്യം
എനിക്കേകിടുന്നു
കരുത്തും ഒപ്പം സ്വാന്തനവും

പുഞ്ചിരി
നഷ്ടമാണെങ്കില്‍ വേണ്ട
കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതില്ലോട്ടുമേ

ഒരു നര്‍മ്മ കഥ

സുപ്രസിദ്ധ ചിത്തരോഗ ഡോക്ടര്‍ ശിശുപാലന്റെ ആശുപത്രിയില്‍ ഒരാഴ്ച മുന്‍പാണ് ഒരു മദ്ധ്യവയസ്കയെ നാട്ടുകാര്‍ അഡമിറ്റാക്കിയത്.

പ്രഥമ പരിശോധനയില്‍ നിന്നും രോഗിക്ക് എടുത്തു പറയത്തക്ക അസുഖങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നും തന്നെ ഉള്ളതായി കാണാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

രോഗിയുടെ പരാതി ഒന്ന് മാത്രം. എപ്പോഴും തന്റെ കാതുകളില്‍ 'കള്ളന്‍ കള്ളന്‍' എന്ന ഒരു ശബ്ദം ഉച്ചത്തില്‍ മുഴങ്ങി കേള്‍ക്കുന്നു.

അത് രോഗിയുടെ കാതുകളെ പൊട്ടിക്കുമാറുച്ചത്തിലാണെന്നും രോഗി പറയുന്നുണ്ട്. ഡോക്ടര്‍ ശിശുപാലന്‍ ഒരാഴ്ച കൊണ്ട് പലവിധ ചികിത്സകള്‍ നടത്തി നോക്കിയെങ്കിലും ഫലം പരാജയം.

രോഗിയുടെ കേസ് ഹിസ്ടറി പഠിച്ചതില്‍ നിന്നും മനസ്സിലാക്കാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞത്, സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ ലബ്ദി സമയത്താണ് കഥാപാത്രം (രോഗി) മധുരപ്പതിനേഴിനോടടുത്തത്‌. അക്കാലങ്ങളില്‍ തികച്ചും ഉന്മേഷവതിയും പറയത്തക്ക അസുഖങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നും ഇല്ലാത്തവളും ആയിരുന്നു അവര്‍. എന്നാല്‍ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ ലബ്ദിക്കു ശേഷം മൂന്നു നാല് വര്‍ഷം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ അവരുടെ ചെവികള്‍ക്ക് ഭാരം വര്‍ധിക്കുന്നത് പോലെ തോന്നിത്തുടങ്ങി. തുടര്‍ന്ന് കാച്ചിയ എണ്ണ, ആട്ടിന്‍ മൂത്രം, ഹൈഡ്ര ജന്‍ പെറോക്സൈഡ തുടങ്ങി പലതും പ്രയോഗിച്ചു നോക്കി തല്‍ഫലമോ എന്തോ അപ്പോള്‍ അല്‍പ്പം ഭാരം കുറയുന്നതുപോലെ തോന്നുമായിരുന്നു, അന്ന് അതുകൊണ്ട് അതത്ര കാര്യമാക്കിയിരുന്നില്ലന്നും രോഗി പറയുകയുണ്ടായി.

വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ ചിലത് കടന്നു പോയി 1960 ലോ മറ്റോ ആണെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു ചെവിക്കുള്ളില്‍ കള്ളന്‍ കള്ളന്‍ എന്നൊരു മൃദു ധ്വനി കേള്‍ക്കുകുവാന്‍ തുടങ്ങി, അന്നത് തികച്ചും സംഗീതാത്മകമായിട്ടേ തോന്നിയുള്ളൂ.കാലം കടന്നു പോയതോടെ 'കള്ളന്‍ കള്ളന്‍' ശബ്ദം സഹിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയാത്ത വിധം ഉച്ചത്തിലായി മാറുകയാനുണ്ടായത്. രാപ്പകലില്ലാതെ ഇന്ന് ആ ശബ്ദം രോഗിയുടെ കാതില്‍ മുഴങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

രോഗി ഒരു രാഷ്ട്രീയക്കാരിയോ, ചിത്രകാരിയോ, ഒരു ബുദ്ധിജീവിയോ ആയിരുന്നില്ല. മറിച്ചു എഴുത്തും വായനയും നല്ലവണ്ണം വശമാക്കിയ ഒരു സാധാരണക്കാരിയും, സാധുവും ആയിരുന്നു അവര്‍.

ഇടയ്ക്കിടെ വളരെ വിഷാദം നിറഞ്ഞ മുഖത്തോടെ 'പിടിക്കൂ പിടിക്കൂ' എന്നും വിളിച്ചു പറയുന്നുണ്ട്.

സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ സമരത്തില്‍ അവരുടെ മാതാപിതാക്കളും പങ്കെടുത്തു അറസ്റ്റു വരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. എന്നാല്‍ അതിന്റെ പേരില്‍ ഒന്നും പിടിച്ചു പറ്റാന്‍ നാളിതുവരെ അവര്‍ പരിശ്രമിച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല.

അസഹ്യമായ 'കള്ളന്‍ കള്ളന്‍' ശബ്ദം അവരെ അലട്ടുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും, ദിനപ്പത്രം പതിവായി വായിക്കുകയും ദിനംപ്രതി നടക്കുന്ന സംഭവങ്ങള്‍ വിലയിരുത്തുകയും അതേപ്പറ്റി ചിന്തിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു അവര്‍.

ഈ ശബ്ദം ഇങ്ങനെ തുടര്‍ന്നാല്‍ താമസം വിനാ അവരുടെ കാതുകളുടെ ഡയഫ്രം പൊട്ടി പ്പോകുമെന്നായിരുന്നു അവരുടെ ഉറച്ച വിശ്വാസം.

നാട്ടിലും, പുറം നാട്ടിലും ഒരു പോലെ പ്രസിദ്ധനായ ചിത്തരോഗ വിദദ്ധന്‍ ശിശുപാലന്‍ പല അടവുകളും പയറ്റി നോക്കിയെങ്കിലും ശബ്ദം വര്‍ദ്ധിച്ചു വന്നതല്ലാതെ കുറഞ്ഞില്ല

ശിശുപാലന്‍ ഒടുവില്‍ ഒരു അറ്റ കൈ തന്നെ പ്രയോഗിക്കാന്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചു.

രോഗി കേള്‍ക്കുന്ന ശബ്ദത്തേക്കാള്‍ ഉച്ചത്തില്‍ അതെ ശബ്ദം തന്നെ രോഗിയേക്കൊണ്ട് വിളിപ്പിക്കുക, ഒരു പക്ഷെ അത് അല്‍പ്പം ശമനത്തിനിട നല്‍കിയേക്കും. പക്ഷേ, അവിടെയും ശിശുപാലന്‍ പരാജയപ്പെട്ടു. കാരണം രോഗി പറയുന്നത്, താനെത്ര ഉച്ചത്തില്‍ ശബ്ദിച്ചാലും താന്‍ കേള്‍ക്കുന്ന ശബ്ദ ത്തിന്റെ പകുതി ശബ്ദം പോലും വരില്ലന്നാണ്. അത്ര ഭീകര ശബ്ദമത്രേ താന്‍ ശ്രവിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്.

ഒടുവില്‍ ശിശുപാലന്‍ രോഗിയുടെ ബന്ധുക്കളെയും അയല്‍ക്കാരേയും വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി കള്ളന്‍ കള്ളന്‍ എന്ന് ഒരുമിച്ചു അലറി വിളിക്കുവാന്‍ അപേക്ഷിച്ച്.

ശിശുപാലന്റെ പരീക്ഷണം നൂറു ശതമാനവും വിജയിച്ചു.

പുറത്തുനിന്നും വരുന്ന കഠോര ശബ്ദം മൂലം അകത്തെ ശബ്ദത്തിനു വളരെ കുറവ് സംഭവിക്കുന്നതായി രോഗി പറഞ്ഞു.

തന്റെ പരീക്ഷണം വിജയിച്ചെങ്കിലും വളരെ അപ്രായോഗികമായ ഒരു ചികില്‍സാവിധിയായിരുന്നു അത്.

സാധുവായൊരു സ്ത്രീയെ അല്ലങ്കില്‍ അവരുടെ മാതാപിതാക്കളെ (സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ ലബ്ദിക്കായി സധീരം പട പൊരുതിയവര്‍) ഓര്‍ത്തെങ്കിലും എല്ലാവരും ഒത്തു ചേര്‍ന്ന് കള്ളന്‍ കള്ളന്‍ എന്ന് അലമുറയിടുക എന്നൊരു അപേക്ഷ (പത്രപ്പരസ്യം) ഡോക്ടര്‍ എല്ലാ പത്രങ്ങളിലും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു.

പത്രപ്പരസ്യം കണ്ടു നിരവധി മനുഷ്യ സ്നേഹികള്‍ സാധുവായ ആ സ്ത്രീയെ ആ കാര്യത്തില്‍ തങ്ങളാല്‍ ആവതു ചെയ്തു സഹായിക്കാന്‍ മുന്നോട്ടു വന്നു.

സഹായ ഹസ്തം നീട്ടി മുന്നോട്ടു വന്നവരുടെ ഒരു നീണ്ട നിര തന്നെ ശിശുപാലന്റെ ആശുപത്രിക്ക്

മുന്നില്‍ പ്രത്യക്ഷമായി.

നമുക്കെല്ലാവര്‍ക്കും ചേര്‍ന്ന് ആ സ്ത്രീയുടെ ചെവിക്കരികിലെത്തി കള്ളന്‍ കള്ളന്‍ എന്ന് ഉച്ചത്തില്‍ അലമുറയിടാം.

ആ പാവം സ്ത്രീയെ വലിയൊരു വിപത്തില്‍ നിന്നും നമുക്ക് രക്ഷിക്കാം.

ഡോക്ടര്‍ ശിശുപാലനെപ്പോലുള്ള ഡോക്ടര്‍മാര്‍ നമ്മുടെ നാടിന്റെ അഭിമാനം തന്നെ.

ആ പുതിയ ചികിത്സാവിധി കണ്ടു പിടിച്ച ഡോക്ടറെ എത്ര പുകഴ്ത്തിയാലും മതിയാവുകയില്ല.

നാഥാ ഞങ്ങള്‍ അവിടുന്ന് മേയിക്കുന്ന ജനവും അവിടുത്തെ കൈക്കലെ ആടുകളും ആണല്ലോ.

അങ്ങയുടെ സൃഷ്ടിയായ ആകാശവും ആകാശവിതാനവും അവിടുത്തെ മഹത്വത്തെ വര്‍ണ്ണിക്കുകയും അങ്ങയുടെ കൈവേലയെ പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നല്ലോ, അതുപോലെ ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കും അങ്ങയുടെ മഹത്വത്തെ വര്‍ണ്ണിപ്പാനും, അങ്ങയുടെ കൈവേലയെ പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കുവാനും നാള്‍ തോറും അധികമധികം സഹായിച്ചാട്ടെ നാഥ!

അസ്സമാധാനതിന്റെ അലമാലകള്‍ അടിക്കടി ഉയര്‍ന്നു പൊങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ലോക മഹാ സമുദ്രത്തില്‍ സുഖ ദുഃഖ സമ്മിശ്രമായ മനസ്സുമായി പലവിധ കര്‍മ്മങ്ങളില്‍ പെട്ടുഴലുന്ന മാനവ ജാതിയുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ സന്തോഷ ചിത്തനായി കഴിയുന്നതിനിട വരുത്തുന്ന നാഥാ അങ്ങേക്ക് സ്തോത്രം.

സമാധാന സന്ദേ ശകനായ അങ്ങയുടെ പാവന മാര്‍ഗ്ഗങ്ങളില്‍ ആശ്രയം തേടിയതിനാല്‍, അസ്സമാധാനതിന്റെ തിരമാലാകള്‍ക്കൊപ്പം ഉയര്‍ന്നു പൊങ്ങി നാശത്തില്‍ നിപതിക്കാതെ ഉറപ്പേറിയ ആ പാറമേല്‍ അഭയം ലഭിച്ചതിനാല്‍ ഞാന്‍ ഇന്ന് നിര്‍ഭയനും സുരക്ഷിതനുമാണ്

എത്രയോ വേദനാ ജനകമായ ഒരു അവസ്ഥയില്‍ ആയിത്തീരാമായിരുന്ന അടിയനെ അതില്‍ നിന്നും വിടുവിച്ചു രക്ഷിച്ച അങ്ങയുടെ കൃപക്കായി സ്തോത്രം. ജ്ജാന ദായകനും പ്രേമസ്വരൂപനും ആയ അങ്ങ് ഇന്ന് എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില്‍ വസിക്കുന്നതിനാല്‍ ഞാന്‍ ഇന്ന് സന്തുഷ്ടനാണ്.

ഒരു ആണ്ടും കൂടി നമ്മോടു വിടപറയാന്‍ ഇനി ദിവസങ്ങള്‍ മാത്രം.

ആണ്ടിന്റെ അവസാനം വന്നെത്തുന്ന 'ക്രിസ്മസ്' എന്ന ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ജനനോത്സവം കേക്ക് മുറിച്ചും, ആശംസകള്‍ നേര്‍ന്നും, വിവിധ തരം പരിപാടികള്‍ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചും അനേകര്‍ ആഘോഷിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. ലോകരക്ഷകനായ യേശു ക്രിസ്തു പാപികളേത്തേടി മനുഷ്യ വേഷം എടുത്തു ഭൂമിയില്‍ അവതരിച്ചു എന്നത് നിഷേധിക്കാനാവാത്ത ചരിത്ര സത്യമായി നില നില്‍ക്കുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ആ മഹത് സംഭവത്തിന്റെ പേരില്‍ ഇന്ന് നടക്കുന്ന ആഘോഷങ്ങള്‍ എല്ലാം തന്നെ വെറും ചടങ്ങുകളായും, സഭ്യത വിട്ടുള്ള പ്രവര്‍ത്തികളില്‍ ഏര്‍പ്പെട്ടു കൊണ്ടുള്ളതുമാണ് എന്നത് ദു:ഖകരമായ ഒരു സത്യമാണ്. ക്രിസ്തുമസ് ഇന്ന് ക്രിസ്-മിസ്സ്‌ ആയി മാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ചടങ്ങുകളില്‍ നിന്നും ക്രിസ്തു മിസ്സ്‌ ആയിപ്പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

വിശ്വാസികള്‍ എന്നഭിമാനിക്കുന്ന പലരിലും ക്രിസ്മസ് ആഘോഷം എന്ന ഈ ജ്വരം പടര്‍ന്നു പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നത് അതിലും ഖേദകരമായ ഒരു വസ്തുതയാണ്. പല വിശ്വാസ ഭവനങ്ങളിലും സാത്താന്റെ സിമ്പല്‍ ആയി സ്ഥിരീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ട നക്ഷത്ര വിളക്കുകള്‍ ഈ വര്‍ഷവും തൂങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്ന ദയനീയ കാഴ്ച കാണുവാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞു.

ഡിസംബര്‍ 25 ന്റെ ചരിത്രം പരിശോധിച്ചാല്‍, ഇത് പുറ ജാതികളില്‍ നിന്നും കടന്നു വന്ന ഒരു ആചാരമാണെന്നു കാണുവാന്‍ കഴിയും. തന്നെയുമല്ല ഈ തീയതി സ്ഥിരീകരിക്കാപ്പെടാത്ത ഒരു സങ്കല്‍പ്പ ദിവസം മാത്രമാണ്. ക്ലമന്റെ ഓഫ് അലക്സാട്രിയ (A.D.180) യുടെ രേഖകളില്‍ ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ജനനം ചിലര്‍ ഏപ്രില്‍ 21-നും ചിലര്‍ ഏപ്രില്‍ 22-നും മറ്റു ചിലര്‍ മെയ 20- നും ആഘോഷിച്ചതായി രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിക്കാണുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ കിഴക്കന്‍ നാടുകളിലുള്ള സഭകള്‍ അതു ജനുവരി 6- നു ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. അതിനവര്‍ നിരത്തുന്ന തെളിവുകള്‍ രസകരം തന്നെ. ആദ്യ ആദാം സൃഷ്ടിയുടെ ആറാം ദിവസം ജനിച്ചെങ്കില്‍ രണ്ടാം ആദാമായ ക്രിസ്തു വര്‍ഷത്തിന്റെ ആറാം ദിവസവും ജനിച്ചതായി വാദി ക്കുന്നു. നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി അവര്‍ ഈ തീയതിയില്‍ ക്രിസ്തുമസ് ആഘോഷിച്ചു വരുന്നു. അര്‍മേനിയന്‍ സഭകള്‍ ഇപ്പോഴും ഈ തീയതിയില്‍ ക്രിസ്തുമസ് കൊണ്ടാടുന്നു.

തമ്മൂസ് എന്ന ജാതീയ ദേവന്റെ ജനനോത്സവമായി ആഘോഷിച്ചിരുന്ന ഡിസംബര്‍ 25 ക്രമേണ സഭകള്‍ക്കുള്ളില്‍ കടന്നു കൂടി. നാലാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലാണ് പടിഞ്ഞാറന്‍ സഭകളില്‍ ഡിസംബര്‍ 25
ക്രമേണ സഭകള്‍ക്കുള്ളില്‍ കടന്നു കൂടി. നാലാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലാണ് പടിഞ്ഞാറന്‍ സഭകളില്‍ ഡിസംബര്‍ 25 ആദ്യമായി ക്രിസ്മസ്സായി ആഘോഷിച്ചത്. കാലക്രമത്തില്‍ റോമാക്കാര്‍ അത് പൂര്‍ണമായും അംഗീകരിക്കുകയും പിന്നീടത്‌ പരക്കെ പ്രചാരത്തില്‍ വരികയും ചെയ്തു.

ഏതായാലും ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ജനനദിവസം ആഘോഷിക്കെണ്ടതോ, ഓര്‍ത്തു ആച്ചരിക്കെണ്ടതോ ആയിരുന്നെങ്കില്‍ ദൈവം അത് തിരുവചനത്തില്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കിത്തരുമായിരുന്നു കര്‍ത്താവോ തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോ, ആദ്യ നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലെ വിശ്വാസികളോ ആരും തന്നെ തങ്ങളുടെ ജനന ദിവസം ആഘോഷിച്ചതായി രേഖകള്‍ ഇല്ല.

നമ്മില്‍ അനേകരും ക്രിസ്തുമസ് ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നില്ലങ്കിലുംനമ്മുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ വളരെ പ്രാധാന്യം നല്‍കി ആചരിച്ചു വരുന്ന മറ്റൊരു ചടങ്ങത്രേ "watch night service" എന്ന ഓമന പ്പേരില്‍ അറിയപ്പെ ടുന്ന ഈ ആഘോഷം. വിശേഷിച്ചു കേരളത്തിന്‌ പുറത്തുള്ള സഭകളിലാണിത് അധികമായി കണ്ടു വരുന്നത്. ഡിസംബര്‍ 31 -നു രാത്രി ഒരുമിച്ചു കൂടി കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷം കര്‍ത്താവിനായി ഒന്നും ചെയ്യുവാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലന്നും, എങ്കിലും വലിയവനായ കര്‍ത്താവ്‌ എനിക്കു നല്ലവനും 'വല്ലവനും' ആയിരുന്നു എന്നും ഈ വര്‍ഷം കര്‍ത്താവിനായി ചിലതെല്ലാം ചെയ്യാമെന്നും ഉള്ള ഏറ്റു പറച്ചിലിന്റെയും തീരുമാനത്തിന്റെയും, ചിലപ്പോള്‍ കരച്ചിലിന്റെയും മറ്റും ഒരു ബഹളം ആയിരിക്കും ഈ ചടങ്ങുകളില്‍. (രസകരമായ വസ്തുത, ഇതേ പല്ലവി അടുത്ത വര്‍ഷം ആണ്ടറുതി യോഗത്തിലും ഇവര്‍ ആവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു എന്നതാണ്). തുടര്‍ന്ന് കൃത്യം പന്ത്രണ്ടു മണിക്ക് പ്രധാന മൂപ്പെന്റെ അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ സുവിശേഷകന്റെ പ്രാര്‍ഥനയോടെ പുതു വര്‍ഷത്തിലേക്ക് പ്രവേശിക്കുകയായി. പിന്നീട് കേക്ക് മുറിക്കലിന്റെയും, ഉച്ചത്തിലുള്ള അഭിവാദ്യങ്ങളുടെയും, ആശംസകളുടെയും ഒരു ബഹളം ആയിരിക്കും. അതോടെ ആ ചടങ്ങ് അവിടെ അവസാനിക്കുന്നു. പഴയ സ്ഥിതി വീണ്ടും തുടരുന്നു. ഈ പല്ലവി അടുത്ത വര്‍ഷവും ആവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു. നാലു ചുവരുകള്‍ക്കുള്ളില്‍ ഒതുങ്ങുന്ന ഇത്തരം ചടങ്ങുകള്‍ കൊണ്ട് ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പ്രയോജനവും ലഭിക്കുന്നില്ലെന്നതാണ് സത്യം. നമ്മുടെ സാക്ഷ്യം ചുവരുകള്‍ക്കും, കെട്ടിയടക്കപ്പെട്ട ചില പ്രത്യേക സ്ഥലങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നും പുറം ലോകത്തേക്ക് നീക്കേണ്ട കാലം അതിക്രമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

പൗലോസ്‌ അപ്പോസ്തലന്‍ ഗലാത്യരോട് പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുകള്‍ വീണ്ടും ഓര്‍മ്മയില്‍ വരുന്നു.
"ഇപ്പോഴോ ദൈവത്തെ അറിഞ്ഞും വിശേഷാൽ ദൈവം നിങ്ങളെ അറിഞ്ഞുമിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങൾ പിന്നെയും ബലഹീനവും ദരിദ്രവുമായ ആദിപാഠങ്ങളിലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞു അവെക്കു പുതുതായി അടിമപ്പെടുവാൻ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ? നിങ്ങൾ ദിവസങ്ങളും മാസങ്ങളും കാലങ്ങളും ആണ്ടുകളും പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നു. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു വേണ്ടി അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചതു വെറുതെയായി എന്നു ഞാൻ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു.(ഗലാത്യ ലേഖനം 4:10-11).

ആണ്ടില്‍ ഒരിക്കല്‍ ഒരു പ്രത്യേക ദിവസത്തിന് പ്രാധാന്യം നല്‍കി ദൈവത്തെ വാഴ്ത്തുന്നു സ്തുതിക്കുന്നു, ആരാധിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നത് തികച്ചും അര്‍ഥശൂന്യമാണ്. കാരണം ദൈവം ദിവസങ്ങളെ എല്ലാം ഒരുപോലെയാണ് സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ആ ദിവസങ്ങളുടെ ഓരോ നിമിഷത്തിലും നാം അവനെ ഒരേ രീതിയിലും അവസ്ഥയിലും സ്തുതിക്കുവാനും ആരാധിക്കുവാനും കടപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. വര്‍ഷത്തിന്റെ ഒരിക്കല്‍ മാത്രം ദൈവത്തെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നവര്‍ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യട്ടെ. നാം അവരെ അനുകരിക്കേണ്ടതുണ്ടോ ? നമുക്ക് ദൈവം തന്നിരിക്കുന്ന കാഴ്ച്ചപ്പാടിനനുസരിച്ചു നമുക്ക് ദൈവത്തെ സ്തുതിക്കാം. നാം നമ്മെ നാശത്തില്‍ നിന്നും വീണ്ടെടുത്ത ദൈവത്തെ അനുദിനം സ്തുതിക്കാന്‍ കടമ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു, അതത്രേ ദൈവം നമ്മില്‍ നിന്നും ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതും. വ്യര്‍ത്ഥമായ പുറം ആചാരങ്ങളില്‍ നമ്മുടെ വിലയേറിയ സമയം പാഴാക്കാതെ നമ്മെ വിളിച്ചവന്റെ സല്‍ഗുണങ്ങളെ നമുക്ക് മറ്റുള്ളവരോട് ഘോഷിക്കാം, കര്‍ത്താവതിനേവര്‍ക്കും സഹായിക്കട്ടെ.

മേല്‍പ്പറഞ്ഞ ചിന്തക്ക് ഒരു മറുവശം കൂടിയുണ്ട് എന്നുള്ളത് ഇവിടെ വിസ്മരിക്കുന്നില്ല:

"വളരെ അത്മാര്‍ഥതയോട് തന്നെ ഇത്തരം യോഗങ്ങങ്ങളില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്ന ഒരു നല്ല കൂട്ടം ഉണ്ടെന്നുള്ളതും ഒരു വസ്തുതയാണ്.

നമ്മുടെ സാക്ഷ്യവും, പ്രസംഗവും അത്മാര്‍ത്ഥതയോടെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ അന്തര്‍ഭാഗത്ത്‌ നിന്നും ഉയരുന്നതു ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ

എല്ലാം ഉചിതവും ചന്തവുമായി കര്‍ത്തൃ നാമമഹിമാക്കായി മാത്രം നടക്കട്ടെ.

ഇത്തരം സന്ദര്‍ഭങ്ങള്‍ ഒരു ആഘോഷത്തിന്റെയും ഉല്ലാസത്തിന്റെയും
പ്രതീതി പ്രകടമാക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ഒരു ഇടം ആകാതെ അവിടം ആരാധനയുടെയും സ്തുതിയുടെയും ഒരു ഉറവിടം ആകട്ടെ.

എന്റെ   ഈ ചിന്തയെ ഒരു വിമര്‍ശന ചിന്തയായി പ്രീയപ്പെട്ടവര്‍ ഗണിക്കില്ല എന്ന്   അത്മാര്‍ത്ഥ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.

India celebrate 100 Years of its National Anthem Today

India's National Anthem is composed by the Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and first sung at the Kolkata session of Indian National Congress in the year 1911on December 27th.

After the British rule in the year 1950 it was adopted by the Indian Constitution as its national anthem.

It should be rendered in 52 seconds.

Is Jesus Christ Still an Infant in the Manger?

(A Thought and an Invitation on the Eve of Christmas and New Year)

The Christmas season is here again, people around the world are in a festive mood and celebrated Christmas. Yes, Yet another Christmas is just passed by. No doubt the season is a happy occasion and a happy celebration time. Not only to the Christians but others as well it's a joyous season, of course immediately after Christmas the New Year too falls in line to double the joy. Yes this season is a continuous process of joyous celebrations.

Let us come to the subject of Christ and His birth termed as "Christmas" by reading the title some of you might have got irritated and thought that what this person is going to tell at this happy occasion. Is he going to spoil our holiday mood?

Oh! Not at all!

But, Yes, some may call me an "ICONOCLAST" Though, a bit difficult word even to pronounce but a very meaningful word. The Webster's dictionary gives its meaning as:

"One who destroys religious images or opposes their veneration; one who attacks established beliefs, ideals, customs or institutions,"

For some it may sound shocking. Yes, you can call me an, '˜Iconoclast' yes by accepting this I wanted to convey a very meaningful and a beneficial message through this page.

God the Father send His only begotten son Jesus Christ to ill stricken world to save the sinners from the eternal damnation. He came on this earth to save the mankind from their wretched condition.

But His own rejected Him and thereby we the heathens got the privilege of being His children. Many are still rejecting him and are on their way to the bitter situation called the eternal hell.

The Word (Jesus Christ) came down to this earth and dwelt among us and lived for our sake and died on the cross of Calvary to save us. Yes according to the Scriptures He died on the cross and buried and rose again on the third day and He is now interceding for His people at the right hand of God.

He is not a helpless babe in a manger as many of us see today, instead He is the Creator and Savior God who can do anything for you and me and He is the God himself, and He is coming again to receive His people to His fold.

At this season, dear friends, please listen to His loving and still voice. He is knocking at the door of your heart and says: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with him."

Heed to this voice and take a Great decision in your life at this happy time. Revelation. 3:10

Are you able to hear the still small voice of the Savior of this world amongst the vociferous voices of celebrations?

Listen and accept Him as your Savior and Lord.

Let us seriously think of the real reason for this season and then involve in our celebrations.

May God help you to note of these points and live a life for His glory.

അടുത്ത നാളുകളിലായി പവ്വര്‍ കട്ടിനൊരു പഞ്ഞവും ഇല്ല.
അയാള്‍ തന്റെ കുടുംബാഗംങ്ങളുമായി കൂടുതല്‍ സമയം ചിലവിട്ടു
അത് കുടുംബത്തില്‍ ഒരു പുത്തന്‍ ഉണര്‍വ്വ് പകര്‍ന്നു
അല്പ്പാല്പം തമാശകള്‍ക്കും തിരി കൊളുത്തുവാന്‍ അത് കാരണമായി.
അതുവരെ മൌനം തളം കെട്ടി നിന്നിരുന്ന ഭവനത്തില്‍ പുഞ്ചിരിയുടെ പൂത്താലം വിരിഞ്ഞു, എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ മതിയല്ലോ.
ഇടയ്ക്കിടെ യാതൊരു മുന്നറിയിപ്പുമില്ലാതെ കരണ്ട് കട്ട് കടന്നു വന്നു കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
അന്നൊരു പൊതു അവധി ദിവസം ആയിരുന്നു
കുട്ടികളും കുടുംബവും അന്ന് വീട്ടിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നു
അതൊന്നും കാര്യമാക്കാതെ അയാള്‍ കംപ്യുട്ടറിനു മുന്നില്‍ കുത്തിയിരിപ്പ് തുടങ്ങി
കംപ്യുട്ടറില്‍ നിന്നും ഒഴുകി വരുന്ന ഗാന ശകലത്തിന്റെ ഈരടികള്‍    ആസ്വദിച്ചു
കൈ വിരലുകള്‍ കീബോര്‍ഡില്‍ പായിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് അയാള്‍ തന്റെ പതിവ് ജോലി തുടര്‍ന്നു കൊണ്ടേയിരുന്നു.
പെട്ടന്ന് പതിവിനു വിപരീതമായി കറന്റു പോയി.
ഒരു ക്രൈസ്തവ സ്തോത്ര ഗാനമായിരുന്നു അപ്പോള്‍ അയാള്‍ കേട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നത്‌

"യെഹോവ നാ കാപ്പരി" (യ്ഹോവ എന്റെ ഇടയന്‍)
"യെഹോവ നാ ഊപ്പിരി" (യെഹോവ എന്റെ ജീവന്‍)

എന്നു തുടങ്ങുന്ന ഒരു തെലുങ്ക്‌ ഗാനമായിരുന്നു അയാള്‍ അപ്പോള്‍ കേട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നത്‌
പെട്ടന്ന് തന്റെ ഏഴാം തരത്തില്‍ പഠിക്കുന്ന മകന്‍ അയാളുടെ അടുത്തേക്ക് ഓടി വന്നു
ആ ഗാനം ഇപ്രകാരം പാടി

"മാര്‍ട്ടിന്‍ ലൂതര്‍ കാപ്പിരി"
"ബാരക് ഒബാമാ കാപ്പിരി"

അത് കേട്ട അയാള്‍ പറഞ്ഞു
മോന് കവി ഭാവന ഉണ്ടല്ലോ!
ഒരാള്‍ക്കെങ്കിലും അച്ഛന്റെ കവി ഭാവന കിട്ടിയിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ, സന്തോഷം.
എന്നയാള്‍ ഓര്‍ത്തുകൊണ്ട്‌ തമാശ രൂപേണ ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു:
കപിയുടെ മകനല്ലേ പിന്നെ കപിയേപ്പോലാകാതിരിക്കുമോ?
അത് കേട്ട മകന്‍ അതെ, കപി (കുരങ്ങു)യുടെ മകന്‍ കപി (കുരങ്ങു) തന്നെ ആകണമെന്നുണ്ടോ?
അത് കേട്ട അയാളുടെ ഭാര്യ
അതെ, അതെ, കപിയുടെ മകന്‍ പിന്നെ പശുക്കിടാവോ ആട്ടിന്കുട്ടിയോ ആകുമോ?

നിങ്ങള്‍ മനുഷ്യരെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കുന്നവരോ?

മനുഷ്യരെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കുവാനും, മനുഷ്യരാല്‍ പ്രശംസിക്കപ്പെടുവാനും വെമ്പല്‍ കൊള്ളുന്ന ഒരു കൂട്ടരേ ഇന്ന് പുറം ലോകത്തില്‍ എന്നപോലെ ആത്മീയ ഗോളത്തിലും കാണുവാന്‍ കഴിയും എന്നത് ദു:ഖകരമായ ഒരു സത്യമത്രേ! വിശ്വാസ ഗോള ത്തില്‍ ഇന്നനേകര്‍ക്കു സംഭവിക്കുന്ന ഒരു അമളിയത്രേ ഇത്.

ദൈവ വചനത്തിലെ വിലയേറിയ സത്യങ്ങളെ അവഗണിച്ചു കൊണ്ട്, വചനം ഉച്ചൈസ്തരം പ്രഘോഷിക്കുന്നവര്‍ എന്നഭിമാനിക്കുന്ന വരില്‍ കൂടിയും ഈ കാലങ്ങളില്‍ ഈ പ്രവണത കണ്ടു തുടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു. അടുത്തിടെ ഒരു ക്രൈസ്തവ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണത്തില്‍ ഒരു സഹോദരന്‍ എഴുതിയ ചില വാക്കുകള്‍ ഇതോടുള്ള ബന്ധത്തില്‍ വളരെ ശ്രദ്ധേയമായി തോന്നി. അതിവിടെ വീണ്ടും കുറിക്കുന്നു. ....വാക്യങ്ങള്‍ കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്‍ത്തു പ്രസംഗിക്കുവാന്‍ നാം ഇന്ന് ആരുടേയും പിന്നിലല്ല. എന്നാല്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിയില്ലാത്ത വിശ്വാസവും മാതൃകയില്ലാത്ത ജീവിതവും വിശ്വാസികളില്‍ ഇന്ന് എന്നത്തേതിലും അധികം കടന്നു കൂടിയിരിക്കയാണ്.

ഹേ! അന്യനെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നവനേ നിന്നെത്തന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കാത്തത് എന്ത്?

മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ കുറവുകളും കുറ്റങ്ങളും പ്രതിഫലിപ്പിച്ചു കാണിപ്പാനും അവരെ ഉപദേശി പ്പാനും നല്ല സാമര്‍ത്ഥയമാണു, പക്ഷെ സ്വന്ത പ്രവര്‍ത്തിയോടടുക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ഇതൊന്നും തങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ബാധകമേ അല്ല എന്ന ചിന്തയാണിവര്‍ക്ക്. പ്രവര്‍ത്തിയില്ലാത്ത പ്രസംഗം വെറും വ്യര്‍ഥം അതിനു മിക്കപ്പോഴും മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ ചെവി കൊടുക്കുകയും ഇല്ല.

എല്ലാവരും തങ്ങളെ പ്രശംസിക്കണം, തങ്ങള്‍ പറയുന്നതും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നതും മാത്രം ശരി എന്ന എന്ന മനോഭാവവും ഇക്കൂട്ടര്‍ക്കുണ്ട്. സ്ഥാനമാനങ്ങള്‍ക്കും മനുഷ്യപ്രീതിക്കുമായുള്ള പരവേശം ഇവരില്‍ പടര്‍ന്നു പിടിച്ചിരിക്കയാണ്‌. മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ പ്രശംസയും സഹായ സഹകരണങ്ങളും പിടിച്ചു പറ്റാന്‍ മുഖസ്തുതിയും, മായം കലര്‍ന്ന പുകഴ്ത്തലുകളും മറ്റും വാ തോരാതെ കോരിച്ചൊരിയാനും ഇക്കൂട്ടര്‍ക്ക് ഒട്ടും മടിയില്ല.

സഭാ ചരിത്രം പഠിച്ചാല്‍ ആദ്യകാല വിശ്വാസികളുടെയും ഇന്നുള്ളവരുടെയും ദര്‍ശനത്തിനും വേലക്കായുള്ള സമര്‍പ്പണത്തിനും തമ്മില്‍ വലിയ അന്തരം ഉണ്ടെന്നു ഖേദത്തോടെ മാത്രം ഓര്‍ക്കേണ്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു. അന്നുള്ളവര്‍ സര്‍വ്വവും ത്യജിച്ചു കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഇറങ്ങിത്തിരിച്ചെങ്കില്‍ ഇന്ന് എന്തെല്ലാമോ സ്വരുക്കൂട്ടാമെന്ന മോഹത്തില്‍ എന്തെല്ലാമോ ചെയ്തു കൂട്ടുന്നു. കര്‍ത്താവ്‌ ഇന്ന് തങ്ങളുടെ ചെയ്തികളില്‍ പ്രസാദിച്ചാലും ഇല്ലെങ്കിലും തങ്ങള്‍ക്കതൊന്നും ഒരു വലിയ പ്രശ്നമേ അല്ല, എന്നാല്‍ മനുഷ്യപ്രസാദം ഒട്ടും കുറയുകയും അരുത് എന്ന ചിന്തയില്‍ മുന്നോട്ടു പോകുന്നു. അതിനായി എന്ത് വേണമെങ്കിലും (എത്ര നീചമായ പ്രവര്‍ത്തി പോലും) ചെയ്യുവാന്‍ തയ്യാറാകുന്നു.

ഇത്തരം ചിന്തകള്‍ കടന്നു കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നവരുടെ എണ്ണം ഇന്ന് വിശ്വാസ ഗോളത്തിലും വര്‍ദ്ധിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നത് ഭയാനകരമായ ഒരു വസ്തുതയാണ്. മനുഷ്യരെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിച്ചെങ്കിലെ തങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ലഭിക്കേണ്ട പ്രശംസ, പ്രസാദം ലഭ്യമാവുകയുള്ളൂ എന്ന ചിന്തയോടെ ഇവര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ പരിപാടികള്‍ ആസൂത്രണം ചെയ്യുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ മനുഷ്യ പ്രസാദം ലഭിപ്പാനായി മനുഷ്യരെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കുവാന്‍ ശ്രമിക്കുന്ന സഹോദരാ, സഹോദരീ, ആ തിരക്കിനിടയില്‍ ഒരു വലിയ ദൈവീക സത്യം നിങ്ങള്‍ മറന്നു പോകുന്നു.

"മനുഷ്യരെ ദൃഷ്ടിസേവയാൽ അല്ല, ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരെപ്പോലെ ദൈവേഷ്ടം മനസ്സോടെ ചെയ്തും. മനുഷ്യരെയല്ല കർത്താവിനെ തന്നേ പ്രീതിയോടെ സേവിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു അനുസരിപ്പിൻ. (എഫെസ്യ ലേഖനം 6: 6-7). ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ

മനുഷ്യരെയോ ദൈവത്തെയോ സന്തോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു? അല്ല, ഞാൻ മനുഷ്യരെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിപ്പാൻ നോക്കുന്നുവോ? ഇന്നും ഞാൻ മനുഷ്യരെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ദാസനായിരിക്കയില്ല. (ഗലാത്യ ലേഖനം 1: 10).

മനുഷ്യ പ്രസാദത്തിന്നായി വെമ്പല്‍ കാട്ടുന്ന സ്നേഹിതാ, മനുഷ്യ പ്രസാദം മാത്രം ലക്ഷ്യമാക്കി നീ നീങ്ങുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍ നിന്റെ എല്ലാ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിയും വെറും വ്യര്‍ത്ഥവും ഫലരഹിതവുമായിത്തീരും. ഇന്ന് നീ മനുഷ്യരെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍ ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ദാസനായിരിക്കുകയില്ല, നിന്റെ പ്രസംഗവും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിയും തമ്മില്‍ യാതൊരു യോജിപ്പും ഇല്ലാതെ പോകും, ആരും അത് കേള്‍ക്കാനോ, ചെവിക്കൊള്ളാനോ മാനിക്കുവാനോ മുന്നോട്ടു വരില്ല.

ഈ ലോകത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാനമാനങ്ങള്‍ ചപ്പും ചവറും എന്നെണ്ണി ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഇറങ്ങിത്തിരിച്ച അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരുടെ മാതൃക നാം പിന്തുടരേണ്ട കാലം അതിക്രമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്തിനെ വിട്ടോടി വന്നോ അതിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ പരക്കം പായുന്നതിനുള്ള ഒരു തരം തത്രപ്പാടാണിന്നു ചിലര്‍ക്ക്. (ഒരിക്കല്‍ വിട്ടേച്ചു പോന്ന പള്ളിയും പട്ടക്കാരും ഒന്ന് തിരിച്ചെടുത്താല്‍ എന്ത്? ആകാശം ഇടിഞ്ഞു വീഴുകയോ മറ്റോ ചെയ്യുമോ? എന്ന ഭാവമാണവര്‍ക്ക് , - പ്രമാണിമാരും പ്രമുഖന്മാരും ഇക്കൂട്ടത്തില്‍ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ എന്നത് ഞെട്ടലോടെ മാത്രമേ കാണാന്‍ കഴിയുന്നുള്ള! നാളിതുവരെ ഇവര്‍ പഠിപ്പിച്ചതും പറഞ്ഞതും വെള്ളത്തില്‍ എഴുതിയത് പോലെ ആയിപ്പോയല്ലോ എന്നോര്‍ക്കുമ്പോള്‍ സത്യത്തില്‍ ദു:ഖം തോന്നുന്നു. തികച്ചും ദു:ഖകരമായ ഒരു വസ്തുത).

അങ്ങനെയുള്ളവര്‍ക്കുള്ള മുന്നറിയിപ്പല്ലേ? അപ്പോസ്തലെന്റെ ഈ വാക്കുകള്‍ :

"അവര്‍ ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ദാസനായിരിക്കുകയില്ല" (ഗലാത്യ ലേഖനം 1: 10).

പ്രീയപ്പെട്ടവരെ നാം ഇന്ന് ആരെ അനുഗമിക്കുന്നു? ആരെ പ്രസാദി പ്പിക്കുന്നു ?

നിങ്ങള്‍ മനുഷ്യരെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കുന്നവരോ? അതിനുള്ള തത്രപ്പാടിലോ? എങ്കില്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ ദൈവത്തിനുള്ളവരല്ല. തിരുവചനം അതത്രേ പറയുന്നത്. മറിച്ചു കര്‍ത്താവിനെ ത്തന്നെ ഭക്തിയോടെ സേവിച്ചും, അവനു പ്രസാദമായതു ചെയ്തും കൊണ്ട് അവനെ പ്രസാദി പ്പിച്ചും കഴിയുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ അവന്റെ മക്കളായി തന്നെ ഇരിക്കും.

ഇന്ന് വിശ്വാസ ഗോളത്തില്‍ പലയിടത്തും അറിഞ്ഞോ അറിയാതയോ കടന്നു കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്ന ചില ദുരാചാരങ്ങള്‍ അല്ലെ ജന്മ ദിന ആഘോഷങ്ങള്‍, വിവാഹ വാര്‍ഷികങ്ങള്‍, ഷഷ്ടി പൂര്‍ത്തി ആഘോഷങ്ങള്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവ? തങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളുടെയും, മക്കളുടെ മക്കളുടെയും തങ്ങളുടെ തന്നെയും ജനന ദിവസങ്ങള്‍ക്കു അമിത പ്രാധാന്യം നല്‍കി വിരുന്നു സല്‍ക്കാരങ്ങളിലും, അതെ തുടര്‍ന്നുള്ള ആഹ്ലാദ പ്രകടനങ്ങളിലും വിശ്വാസികളായ പലരും ലോക ജനങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ തന്നെ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്ന അവസ്ഥ ഇന്ന് പല ഇടങ്ങളിലും കാണുന്നുണ്ട്.

വിശ്വാസ ജീവിതത്തില്‍ അനേകം പടികള്‍ ചവുട്ടിക്കടന്നു പക്വത വന്നവരെന്നഭിമാനിക്കുന്ന വരില്‍പോലും ഈ പ്രവണത കാണുമ്പോള്‍ സത്യത്തില്‍ ദു:ഖം തോന്നുകയാണ്.

പൗലോസ്‌ അപ്പോസ്തലന്‍ ഗലാത്യയിലെ വിശ്വാസികളെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ടെഴുതിയ വാക്കുകള്‍ ആണ് ഇത്തരുണത്തില്‍ ഓര്‍മ്മയില്‍ വരുന്നത്.

"എന്നാൽ അന്നു നിങ്ങൾ ദൈവത്തെ അറിയാതെ സ്വഭാവത്താൽ ദൈവങ്ങളല്ലാത്തവർക്കു അടിമപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. ഇപ്പോഴോ ദൈവത്തെ അറിഞ്ഞും വിശേഷാൽ ദൈവം നിങ്ങളെ അറിഞ്ഞുമിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങൾ പിന്നെയും ബലഹീനവും ദരിദ്രവുമായ ആദിപാഠങ്ങളിലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞു അവെക്കു പുതുതായി അടിമപ്പെടുവാൻ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ?

നിങ്ങൾ ദിവസങ്ങളും മാസങ്ങളും കാലങ്ങളും ആണ്ടുകളും പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നു.

ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു വേണ്ടി അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചതു വെറുതെയായി എന്നു ഞാൻ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു.

പൗലോസ്‌ അപ്പോസ്തലന്‍ പറഞ്ഞത് പോലെ ഒരു കാലത്ത് നാം പിന്‍പറ്റിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നതും, പിന്നീട് വിട്ടു കളഞ്ഞതുമായ ബലഹീനവും ദരിദ്രവുമായ ആദി പാഠങ്ങളിലേക്ക് നാം വീണ്ടും തിരിയുകയോ? ദിവസങ്ങളും മാസങ്ങളും കാലങ്ങളും ആണ്ടുകളും പ്രമാണിക്കുവാന്‍ നാം വീണ്ടും മുതിരുകയോ? ചിന്തിക്കുക!

തിരുവചനം ഇതേപ്പറ്റി എന്ത് പറയുന്നു എന്ന് നമുക്ക് നല്ല നിശ്ചയം ഉണ്ട്.

എങ്കിലും അത് പലപ്പോഴും നാം മനപ്പൂര്‍വ്വം മറക്കുകയല്ലേ ചെയ്യുന്നത്?

തിരുവചനത്തിലേക്ക് നമുക്കൊന്ന് മടങ്ങി വരാം.

വചനം ഇത്തരം ആഘോഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് യാതൊരു വിധ പ്രാധാന്യവും നല്‍കുന്നതായി നാം എവിടെയും വായിക്കുന്നില്ല. മറിച്ചു അത്തരം ചടങ്ങുകളെ നിരുല്‍സാഹപ്പെടുത്തി മാത്രമേ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തി കാണുന്നുള്ളൂ.

ദൈവ ഭക്തരായ ഇയ്യോബും യിരമ്യാവും തങ്ങളുടെ ജനന ദിവസത്തെ ശപിച്ചതായിട്ടാണ് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിക്കാണുന്നത്.

ഇയ്യോബിന്റെ പുസ്തകത്തില്‍ നാം ഇപ്രകാരം വായിക്കുന്നു:

"അനന്തരം ഇയ്യോബ് വായി തുറന്നു തന്റെ ജന്മദിവസത്തെ ശപിച്ചു." (ഇയ്യോബ് 3:1).

"ഞാൻ ഗർഭപാത്രത്തിൽവെച്ചു മരിക്കാഞ്ഞതെന്തു? ഉദരത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ തന്നേ പ്രാണൻ പോകാതിരുന്നതെന്തു?" (ഇയ്യോബ് 3:11).

യിരമ്യാവിന്റെ പുസ്തകത്തില്‍ നാം ഇപ്രകാരം കാണുന്നു:

"ഞാൻ ജനിച്ച ദിവസം ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കട്ടെ; എന്റെ അമ്മ എന്നെ പ്രസവിച്ച ദിവസം അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടാതിരിക്കട്ടെ."

നിനക്കു ഒരു മകൻ ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു എന്റെ അപ്പനോടു അറിയിച്ചു അവനെ ഏറ്റവും സന്തോഷിപ്പിച്ച മനുഷ്യൻ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ." (യിരമ്യ്യാവ്. 20:14-15).

ദുഷ്ടന്മാരും ദൈവം ഇല്ലാത്തവരുമായ കേവലം രണ്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ ജന്മ ദിനാഘോഷങ്ങളെ പ്പറ്റി മാത്രമേ തിരുവചനത്തില്‍ പ്രതിപാദിച്ചു കാണുന്നുള്ളൂ.

ഒന്ന് പഴയ നിയമത്തിലും (ഫറവോന്‍), മറ്റൊന്ന് പുതിയ നിയമത്തിലും (ഹെരോദാവു) ഇവരുടെ രണ്ടു പേരുടെയും ജീവിതം ഒരു വിധത്തിലും ശ്ലാഘനീയമായിരുന്നില്ല. ഈ രണ്ടു സന്ദര്‍ഭങ്ങളിലും

അത്യന്തം ദു:ഖകരമായ രണ്ടു അനിഷ്ട സംഭവങ്ങളും നടന്നതായി നാം കാണുന്നു.

ഫറവോന്റെ ജന്മ ദിനത്തില്‍ തന്റെ അപ്പക്കാരുടെ പ്രമാണിയെ അവന്‍ തൂക്കിക്കൊന്നു.

ഉല്‍പ്പത്തി 40:20-22 നാം ഇങ്ങനെ വായിക്കുന്നു:

"മൂന്നാം നാളിൽ ഫറവോന്റെ തിരുനാളിൽ അവൻ തന്റെ സകലദാസന്മാർക്കും ഒരു വിരുന്നുകഴിച്ചു. തന്റെ ദാസന്മാരുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ പാനപാത്ര വാഹകന്മാരുടെ പ്രമാണിയെയും അപ്പക്കാരുടെ പ്രമാണിയെയും ഓർത്തു.

പാനപാത്രവാഹകന്മാരുടെ പ്രമാണിയെ ഫറവോന്റെ കയ്യിൽ പാനപാത്രം കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വീണ്ടും അവന്റെ സ്ഥാനത്തു ആക്കി.

അപ്പക്കാരുടെ പ്രമാണിയെയോ അവൻ തൂക്കിച്ചു; യോസേഫ് അർത്ഥം പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ തന്നെ."

ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ ജനനോത്സവത്തില്‍ യേശു ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ തന്നെ മുന്നോടി ആയിരുന്ന യോഹന്നാന്‍ സ്നാപകന്റെ ശിരഛെദം നടത്തേണ്ട ഗതി തനിക്കുണ്ടായി.

എത്രയോ ദു:ഖത്തില്‍ പര്യവസാനിച്ച രണ്ടു ആഘോഷങ്ങള്‍. ഇന്നും ഇത്തരം പല ആഘോഷ തിമിര്‍പ്പുകളുടെയും പരിണിതഫലം ഏതെങ്കിലും തരത്തിലുള്ള ദുരന്തത്തിലവസാനിക്കാറില്ലേ?

അത്തരം പല ഉദാഹരണങ്ങള്‍ ഈ എഴുത്തുകാരന് നിരത്തി വെക്കുവാന്‍ കഴിയും.

ഇന്ന് ക്രൈസ്തവ ജനത കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ജനനോത്സവത്തെ കൊണ്ടാടുന്നു എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു കാട്ടിക്കൂട്ടുന്ന ചെയ്തികള്‍ എത്രയോ ഹീനവും നിന്ദ്യവും ആയ രീതിയിലാണ്. ലോകത്തില്‍ ഇന്ന് ഏറ്റവും അധികം അക്രമങ്ങളും, അപകടങ്ങളും നടക്കുന്ന ദിവസങ്ങള്‍ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ജന്മദിനം എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു ആഘോഷിക്കുന്ന ഡിസംബര്‍ ഇരുപത്തിയഞ്ചിലും, അതേത്തുടര്‍ന്നുള്ള പുതു വത്സര ആഘോഷ ദിനങ്ങളിലും ആണെന്ന് അടുത്തയിട ഒരു പത്ര വാര്‍ത്ത കാണുകയുണ്ടായി.

എത്ര പരിതാപകരമായ ഒരു സ്ഥിതി വിശേഷം. പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിന്റെ സൃഷ്ടിതാവിനെ വേണ്ടും വണ്ണം അറിയാതെ തന്നേ പ്രീതിപ്പെടുത്താനെന്ന മോഹത്തില്‍ എന്തെല്ലാമോ കാട്ടിക്കൂട്ടുന്നു.

വര്‍ഷത്തിന്റെ ഒരു പ്രത്യേക ദിവസത്തിന് കൂടുതല്‍ പ്രാധാന്യം നല്‍കി ആ ദിവസം മാത്രം ദൈവത്തെ പുകഴ്ത്തുന്നു ആരാധിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നത് തികച്ചും അര്‍ഥ ശൂന്ന്യമാണ്, കാരണം

ദൈവം ദിവസങ്ങളെ എല്ലാം ഒരുപോലെ ആണ് സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ആ ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ എല്ലാം തന്നേ ഒരേ രീതിയിലും ഒരേ അവസ്ഥയിലും തന്നെ ആരാധിക്കണമെന്നും ദൈവം മനുഷ്യരില്‍ നിന്നും ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.

ഇന്ന് അനേകരും ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ കൂടാതെയുള്ള ക്രിസ്തുമസ് ആചരണത്തിന് പ്രാധാന്യം നല്‍കുന്നതായാണ് കാണുന്നത്. ഇതില്‍ നിന്നും എത്രയോ വ്യത്യസ്തരായിരിക്കേണ്ട വിശ്വാസികള്‍ എന്നു പേര്‍ പറയുന്നവര്‍ പോലും ഇത്തരം വെറിക്കൂത്തുകളിലും, ആചാരങ്ങളിലും അകപ്പെട്ടു പോകുന്നത് എത്രയോ ദു:ഖകരമാണ്.

അപ്പോസ്തലന്‍ പറഞ്ഞത് പോലെ, ദൈവത്തെ അറിയാതെ കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്ന കാലത്തെ ബലഹീനവും ദരിദ്രവുമായ ആദി പാഠങ്ങളിലേക്ക് തിരിഞ്ഞു അവയ്ക്ക് വീണ്ടും അടിമകള്‍ ആകാതിരിപ്പാന്‍ നമുക്ക് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാം. "ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു വേണ്ടി അധ്വാനിച്ചത് വെറുതെയായി എന്നുള്ള സ്വരം കേള്‍പ്പാന്‍ നമുക്കിടയാകാതിരിക്കട്ടെ.

ക്രിസ്തു ഹൃദയങ്ങളില്‍ ജനിക്കാതെയുള്ള ഒരു ആഘോഷവും, ഒരു ആചാരവും യഥാര്‍ഥ സമാധാനവും സന്തോഷവും തരില്ല. യഥാര്‍ ഥമായി ക്രിസ്തു ഹൃദയങ്ങളില്‍ വസിക്കുന്നുയെങ്കില്‍ ആ വ്യക്തിക്ക് തന്റെ ജീവിതത്തില്‍ ഓരോ ദിവസവും ക്രിസ്തുമസ് ആഘോഷിക്കുവാന്‍ കഴിയും.

വ്യര്‍ഥമായ ഇത്തരം പുറം ആചാരങ്ങളില്‍ നമ്മുടെ സമയം നഷ്ടമാക്കാതെ നമ്മുടെ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ വരവിനെ ബദ്ധപ്പെടുത്തുന്നവരും, തന്റെ വരവിനായി ആവലോടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നതിനും, അതെപ്പറ്റി രണ്ടായിരം വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ശേഷം ഇന്നും അജ്ജരായിരിക്കുന്ന അനേകരെ അതറിയിക്കുന്നതിനും നമുക്ക് യെജ്ജിക്കാം, ഏതു വിധേനയും നമുക്കതറിയിക്കാം. കര്‍ത്താവ്‌ അതിനേവര്‍ക്കും സഹായിക്കട്ടെ.

Have You Ever Heard About LPG (Liquid Petrolium Gas) Cylinder’s Expiry Date?

Many Users Do Not Aware About This.

Please Read on.

Do you know that there is an expiry date (physical life) for

LPG cylinders? Expired Cylinders are not safe for use and

may cause accidents. In this regard, please be cautious at

the time of accepting any LPG cylinder from the vendor.

Here is how we can check the expiry of LPG cylinders:

On one of three side stems of the cylinder, the expiry date

is coded alpha numerically as follows A or B or C or D and

some two digit number following this e.g. D06.

The alphabets stand for quarters -
1. A for March (First Qtr),
2. B for June (Second Qtr),
3. C for Sept (Third Qtr),
4. D for December (Fourth Qtr).

The digits stand for the year till it is valid.

Hence D06 would mean December qtr of 2006.


The second example with D13 allows the cylinder to be in use until Dec 2013 .

Let Us Celebrate Jesus Christ’s Death Not His Birth

It is about the Lord Jesus Christ’s birth celebration commonly known as ‘Christmas’

The writer questions the celebrations with biblical evidences.

Christ never asked His followers to celebrate His Birth, instead He asked or

commanded His followers to celebrate His death.

On December 25th people the world over will celebrate the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. This central event in history divided the calendar into B C (Before Christ) and A.D. (Anno Domini – “In the Year of Our Lord”). He was born to die. The meaning of His name is “He will save His people from their sins” (in Hebrew- “Jesus” means “Savior” Matthew 1:21). The prophets foretold His birth years before it took place. Isaiah the Prophet predicted it in 740 B.C. (Isaiah 9:6, and 7:14). Prophet Micah also predicted the same event in 742 B.C. (Micah 5:2). Christ’s sufferings too were described beforehand by Isaiah (Isaiah Chapter 52:13- 53:12). The very purpose of Christ’s coming to earth is to die for the sins of mankind.

The recent movement to replace the word ”Christmas” by other names in America and Britain is an interesting development. In America the conservative argue that Christmas has become almost a dirty word in a politically correct society. The recent report says that a similar situation is arising in Britain too.

In this connection let us look at the reality. What exactly does the Bible say about such celebrations? The Bible has not given any importance to the birthday celebrations. The great Prophets of the Bible Job and Jeremiah have cursed it (Job 3:1-11, and Jeremiah 20: 14-15). In the whole Bible only two birth celebrations are mentioned, one in the Old Testament, that is of the Pharaoh, a heathen King and another one in the New Testament that is, Herod the cruel and ungodly King. On both these occasions some tragic events took place. On Pharaoh”s birthday, he hanged his chief baker (Genesis 40: 20-22) and on Herod”s birthday he beheaded a godly and innocent person ”John the Baptist”, the forerunner of Jesus Christ. (Mark 6:21-28). Giving too much importance to that particular day is not good, because God had made all days equal and wants people to worship Him in the same tempo and manner on all the other days of the year as well.

Many celebrate Christmas without Christ in their heart. Unless Christ is born in the heart, no one can meaningfully celebrate Christmas and really experience the full joy of the occasion. Can Christmas be a celebration without Christ? With Christ dwelling inside, one can celebrate Christmas not only on 25th December but every day of his life.

At Christmas we tend to give much importance and priority to getting new clothes, decorating our houses, singing carols, preparing delicacies and savories. Often the main person, who is the cause of the celebration, is forgotten and out of the picture. We have no time or rather do not take pains to think about Him, His great teachings and His great sacrifice. Rather we take this opportunity to amuse ourselves and entertain our friends and relatives many times in an unholy way, which brings dishonor to His name as well as to our faith. Instead, let us celebrate this awesome occasion in a worthy manner as the shepherds who glorified God (Luke 2:20) when they received the news.

Jesus never asked His followers to remember His Birth; instead he commanded his followers to remember His Death. This is very clearly mentioned in the book of Luke, “..And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me. Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you (Luke 22: 19 -20).” This institution is called ”The Lord’s Supper”, He has asked the believers to carry out this till His second coming. Christians cannot neglect this institution, because it is His commandment. Christians are looking forward to the Lord’s glorious appearing the second time. Instead of wasting time, money and energy on merry-making and celebrations, why not take the opportunity to tell others about His first coming. Let us make known the teaching of the Lord to many who do not yet know Him even after 2000 years of His coming.

A survey says the greatest number of accidents take place on the eve of Christmas. What does it show? People go about the day in an unworthy manner, and that leads to a number of accidents.

The time is very short. The Bible says, “The end of all things is at hand” therefore be serious and watchful in prayer (I Pet. 4:7). Recent world events are vivid signs of His imminent return. Before His coming, let us strive together and faithfully go about the Lord’s great commission, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey every thing I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20. This is the great and last commission Christ has given to His followers to follow.

May the Lord help us to fulfill this task which our Lord entrusted to us.

Let us celebrate His Death by obeying His commandments!!

Some of the co- writer's write-ups put my memory back to my school days, Yes, it happened when I was in my 6th or 7th grade.

I was an avid reader and whatever comes to hand, I read. Newspapers, weeklies, magazines and books were my favorites. In our village (Valanjavttom, near Thiruvalla, Kerala, India) there was a library Called "Gandhiji Smaaraka (memorial) Library". I was a member and a regular visitor to this library and borrow books from this library. I read many of the books novels short stories and poems of many major writers of the Malayalam language.

My reading habit continued and started reading all Malayalam Newspapers available in the library. Malayalam newspaper's letters (Kathukal) column attracted me a lot and I started sending letters to this column. Immediately after sending letters to the newspapers I eagerly wait for the next day's paper to see my letters, but nothing published, again I send, nothing published. This continued for few days without any result. Days and months passed I could not find any result. I was really frustrated at that but my passion for newspapers and writings did not stopped me there, instead with more care I prepared letters and send. One fine morning as usual when I picked up the daily I found my letter printed with my name. I was overjoyed by seeing my name in print that too in one of the major and famous publication called Malayala Manorama. (The largest circulated Malayalam daily in Kerala and also the leading and largest circulated vernacular daily in India). www.manoramaonline.com

Though after a good number of rejections, the printed letter made me so happy and it made me to write more. Again I jotted down many things in my note books under the headings short stories, mini stories, poems and prose etc.

About that time I heard about a Christian magazine called "Suviseshakan" (Evangelist) published by a well known evangelist from Madurai (Tamil Nadu State). I thought of sending some of my writings to that magazine and picked up some of the jottings from my note books and copied it in a paper and send it to the Editor. A week later I received a letter from the editor saying, ''the story which you send is good and will publish it in one of the coming issues, but the song is not up to the mark but don't give up, write more ok!!'' Reading the editor's letter I could not control myself, with joy, I jumped up and down. My first story is going to see the light of the day, that too in M E Cherian Sir's Magazine. (A word about M E Cherian, lovingly known or called as 'M E C' or 'Cherian Sir'. (Before becoming an evangelist he was a high school teacher, so most of the people called him Cherian Sir).

Here is a YouTube video, an interesting narration of the story of Ruth from the Holy Bible, 'Book of Ruth', under the title, "Paadathe Praave"

This small but great incident in my life encouraged me much. This made me to write more. Again I send another article, story and a song to Cherian Sir. With in a short span I received his reply saying, 'Your article and story I will publish it in one of the coming issues after a few corrections. It seems you are more talented in writing articles, think on that line and do write more. May God bless." This note of MEC, I read again and again. There was no limit for my happiness.

A few months later I came to know about MEC's arrival to Kumbanad (A Christian convention center in Kerala) for the annual convention of Brethren Assemblies, as a preacher. This yearly convention takes place on December last week and goes on to January first week. Every year my parents used to attend these annual conventions. I was so eager to meet Cherian Sir and I expressed this desire to my Dad and he agreed at once. The day came, with my parents I went for the meetings at the center. We met MEC and my Dad introduced me to Cherian Sir. He recognized the little writer and with much joy he greeted me. I expressed my heartfelt thanks to MEC for his encouragement.

Immediately he took a copy of the current issue of Suviseshakan (January) and handed over to me and said, "one of your articles is published in this issue" then he patted on my shoulder and encouraged me. The loving touch of that famous personality and those joyous moments I can't forget in my life. This was the beginning of my writing life.

Later, after his departure from this earth the Y M E F published a souvenir (M E Cherian Smaranika), under the editorship of Br. George Koshy, Mylapra. The editor published this small incident in the souvenir. A Malayalam version of that story you can read Here

So good to read about this wonderful experience. MEC did a great thing in encouraging 'the little writer'. How many big people are willing to do that, to take time to 'sabash' the attempts of beginners? And we all thrive on appreciation and encouragement, don't we?

Blessings Are for Sharing; Let's Share Our Blessings

It's about the blessed hope which the Christians are enjoying in Christ Jesus. He encourages the reader to share their heavenly blessings with others which they are possessing through Christ Jesus. He says, the blessings are for sharing not for their selfish interests.

These days everything seems unsafe. A crime blitz has hit the country.

On one side innocent people are being caught in the merciless radar of terrorism. People are being attacked and killed in the name of politics and religion. Recent incidents show many fall victims to this evil. On the other big and small business establishments lace their products (food stuffs, medicines etc...) with spurious materials which lead innocent people to different kinds of ailments to a slow process of death. Yet another fear grips the people's mind is that the recent findings in the age old noble and traditional system of ayurvedic medicines. Ayurveda the widely accepted medicines too are laced with toxic dangerous materials. Latest findings reveal that manufactures of these medicines are using human parts in their medicines. Lastly the recent outbreak of bird flu which hit the country made people panic all over the nation.

In every sphere a certain kind of uncertainty and panic prevails. People don't want to believe each other. Trust is lost among all spheres. Everywhere a kind of fear and unbelief is taking place. Even in such situation God's people need not fear because we are under the great control and cover of the creator of the universe. We are safe and secure under the wings of the almighty one. Yes, we are under the protection of the mighty and unchanging God. He never changes nor forsakes those who put trust in Him. When we are on this earth we too have to undergo such panic situation or to face trails and persecutions and even death. But believers need not get panic in such situation, because we are in the palms of the Lord almighty.

We have a blessed hope in Christ. When we finish our course on this earth we will meet our Savior and we will be with him for ever and ever. What a blessed hope we believers have in Jesus Christ. Whereas, others (those who are without Christ) should get panic that they do not know where they are going. We are a blessed people Eph.1:3; 2:6 makes it very clear that we are rich in Christ, we are raised up together with him and made us sit down together giving us joint seating with Him in heavenly sphere in Christ Jesus, the Messiah, the Anointed one. (Amplified Bible).

The Scripture is filled with comforting words for the believers, if we trust Him fully; we need not fear anything or anybody on this earth. Circumstances may frighten us, things may go against us, rulers and leaders may rise up against us, but you need not worry, you are in the safe hands of the Lord Almighty. The recent incidents proclaim that our Lord's coming is very close. Dearly beloved of God, we are so blessed people, as mentioned in Ephesians we are rich in Christ. What are you going to do with these riches? Or what are you going to do with the other fellow brethren who are perishing without these riches? Are you making any efforts to share this richness to them? Let us make note that these blessed privileges and positions He has given us not to keep it for ourselves but to share with others. Many a times we hold these blessings for ourselves for our selfish interests.

Abraham is a good example. Lord Jehovah brought him from the clutches of idol making and idolatry and blessed him abundantly. He became a leader and the father of the nation. Even after obtaining huge blessings he did not hold back the blessings for himself. Instead he shared it with others. Let us emulate his nature, let us be in his category, so that Lord will bless us with much more blessings. Let us be a blessing to many around us, let us share the greatness of this God which we are enjoying today to others, then they too will be blessed and through them others also may be blessed. Dearly beloved in the Lord, we do not have much time on this earth. Let us not hold this blessings for our own selfish interest, instead let us do something to bring the perishing souls to His fold with all the heavenly riches.

Let us share it for the glory of our Lord. May God help us.

കുറിച്ചിട്ടവയില്‍ ഒന്ന് രണ്ടു ഗാനങ്ങളും ഒരു ചെറുകഥയും കടലാസ്സില്‍ പകര്‍ത്തി ചെറിയാന്‍ സാറിന്റെ പേരില്‍ അയച്ചു കൊടുത്തു. അധികം വൈകാതെ മറുപടിയും വന്നു.

"കഥ നന്നായിരിക്കുന്നു, അടുത്തൊരു ലക്കത്തില്‍ ചേര്‍ക്കാം, ഗാനങ്ങള്‍

അത്ര നന്നായിട്ടില്ല. വീണ്ടും എഴുതണം കേട്ടോ".

കത്തു വായിച്ച ഞാന്‍ ആനന്ദാതിരേകത്താല്‍ തുള്ളിച്ചാടി. എന്റെ ആദ്യത്തെ രചന
ഇതാ വെളിച്ചം കാണുവാന്‍ പോകുന്നു. അതും ചെറിയാന്‍ സാറിന്റെ മാസികയില്‍.
എന്നെ അത്യധികം സന്തോഷിപ്പിച്ച ഒരസുലഭ നിമിഷം.

പ്രസിദ്ധനായ ഒരു പത്രാധിപരുടെ കത്തു ലഭിച്ചു എന്നതും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മാസികയില്‍ എന്റെ ആദ്യ രചന പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കാന്‍ പോകുന്നു എന്നറിഞ്ഞതും എന്തെന്നില്ലാത്ത ഒരാനന്ദം എനിക്കനുഭവപ്പെട്ടു. ഒപ്പം അതെനിക്ക് കൂടുതല്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ എഴുതണമെന്നുള്ള പ്രേരണയും പ്രോത്സാഹനവും നല്‍കി അങ്ങനെ പലതും

കുറിച്ചിടുവാന്‍ എനിക്കു കഴിഞ്ഞു.

തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഒരു കഥയും, കവിതയും, ലേഖനവും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പേരില്‍ മാസികക്ക് അയച്ചു. വീണ്ടും മറുപടി ലഭിച്ചു.

"ലേഖനവും കഥയും അല്പം ചില തിരുത്തലുകള്‍

വരുത്തി മാസികയില്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കാം. ലേഖനങ്ങള്‍ എഴുതുന്നതിലാണ്

കൂടുതല്‍ വാസന എന്നു തോന്നുന്നു. ആ വഴിക്കു ശ്രമിക്കുക. കര്‍ത്താവ്‌

സഹായിക്കട്ടെ."

ആ വരികള്‍ ഞാന്‍ വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും വായിച്ചു. എന്റെ സന്തോഷത്തിനു
അതിരില്ലായിരുന്നു. സാറിന്റെ അന്നത്തെ കത്തുകള്‍ എനിക്കു നല്‍കിയ
പ്രോത്സാഹനം പ്രത്യേകം എടുത്തു പറയേണ്ടത് തന്നെ.

അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ കുമ്പനാട് കണ്‍വന്‍ഷന് ചെറിയാന്‍ സാര്‍ പ്രസംഗിക്കാന്‍
വരുന്നുണ്ടന്നു കേട്ടപ്പോള്‍ അതിയായ സന്തോഷം തോന്നി. എങ്ങനെയെങ്കിലും
സാറിനെ കാണണം എന്ന ചിന്ത എന്നെ ഭരിക്കുവാന്‍ തുടങ്ങി. എന്റെ
മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ എല്ലാ വര്‍ഷവും കുമ്പനാട് കണ്‍വന്‍ഷനു പോവുക
പതിവുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അവരോടൊപ്പം പോകാനും സാറിനെ കാണാനുമുള്ള എന്റെ
ആഗ്രഹം ഞാന്‍ പിതാവിനെ അറിയിച്ചു. പിതാവ് അതിനു സമ്മതിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ
ആദ്യമായി കുമ്പനാട്ടുവെച്ചു സാറിനെ നേരില്‍ കാണാനും പരിചയപ്പെടാനും
കര്‍ത്താവ്‌ സഹായിച്ചു. ആ വര്‍ഷം ജനുവരി ലക്കം സുവിശേഷകനില്‍ എന്റെ ഒരു
ലേഖനം പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിരുന്നു. അതിന്റെ ഒരു കോപ്പി എനിക്ക് തന്ന് എന്റെ
പുറത്തു തട്ടി എന്നെ പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിച്ച ആ അസുലഭ നിമിഷങ്ങള്‍ ഞാന്‍ ഒരിക്കലും
മറക്കില്ല.

The people of Kerala (A. southern state in India) members of the collection of the ethnic groups defined by their native language 'Malayalam. They are generally called- 'Malayali' or "Malayalees" this word is derived from the word 'Malayalam.' The people who speak the language Malayalam and are natives of Kerala are called Malayalis or Keralites or yet another nick name added that is "Mallus".

There is a common belief and saying that Malayali's English accent is poor and others laugh at them when they speak English. Of course now the trend is changed and an estimated 75 to 80% of the children are getting convent or English medium education and they are proving or proved their metal in many areas the world over. And among them there are a good number of well educated and renowned professors, scientist and business people. But still people make fun of us on our English accent. There are a good number of created stories on this line. Just for a change and for a lighter vein I am herewith posting some of the jokes for the day. I am sure my Malayalee brethren (Malloos) the world over will not get annoyed. Instead I am sure they take this lighter vein.

Here is a sample of such stocks, received via mail from my friend, Vasanth Kumar (A Telugu Brother). Hope my Malayali breth .

Don't worry we are no less than anybody else. In literacy we are on the top of the list. I congratulate and appreciate my fellow Kerala brethren scattered all over the world.

Yet another interesting thing, a common saying about Malayaalees are that "They are found even on the surface of the moon" That means whereever you go you can find a Malayaali. I am happy to note this with much proud, Keep up my dear fellow Malloo brethren.

I am again proud to say that Kerala is the only State achieved 100% literacy rate in the world.

So Cheer up My Dear Fellow beings.

A JOKE FOR THE DAY

Q. Name the wonly part of the werld, where Malayalis don't werk hard? Ans: Kerala.

Q. Why is industrial productivity is very low in Kerala?

A: Because 80% of the shift time is spent on lifting, folding and re-tying the mundu or lungi (a garment worn around the waist) LOL

Q. Why did Malayali buy an air-ticket?

A: To go to Thuubai (Dubai), zimbly to meet his ungle in the Gelff (Gulf)

Q. Why do Malayali's go to the Gelff?

A: To yearn meney

Q. What did the Malayali do when the plane caught fire?

Q. Why did his wife divorce him?

A: Because he was louwing another woman. Who found out that? His aandy (aunt).

Q. What does a Malayali do when he goes to America?

A: He changes his name from Karunakaran to Kevin Curren.

Q. What does a Malayali use to commute to office everyday?

A: An Oto.

Q. Why Kerala is the heghly literrate state in India?

A: It's easily giving Degree to get rid of the peapal from Kerala.

Q. Which car does he purchase when he gets license?

A: A second hand Mercedes.

Another interesting part of this joke is given in the Post Script, it says:

PS: Please don't delete this; it's not a junk mail. If you send this mail to 10 Malayalis you will receive ½ liter cocunut oil. 20 Malayalis you will receive 1 kg benena chips. 40 Malayalis you will receive 3Appams (a dosa like preparation (sweet taste) prepare on festive seasons) and mutton curry.

Yet another interesting joke I noticed is given below:

A "Mallu" (Malayalees are called sarcastically by this word) female (from the central part-more educated class lives in this part) of Kerala) went for a job interview for the post of a PERSONAL SECRETARY.

When the manager saw the Mallu's colorful attire and gold and well oiled uncombed jet black hair, his mind was screaming "WHOW!! NOT THIS WOMAN."

Nevertheless, he still had to entertain the Mallu.

So he told her "If you could form a sentence using the words that I give you, and then may be I will give you a chance. The words are GREEN, PINK, YELLOW, BLUE, WHITE, PURPLE and BLACK."

The enthusiastic Mallu lady thought for a while and said:

I hear the phone GREEN GREEN GREEN, then I go and PINK up the phone, I say YELLOW......BLUE's that? WHITE did you say? Aiye, Wrong number ........Don't PURPOSELY disturb people and don't call BLACK, ok? Thank you."

Hearing this the Manager fainted.......

Hey....

Most of these jokes have become old now; also, some of them sound very much like the Gujju accents I come across in Surat--like benena instead of banana. Ungle instead of Uncle is a Mallu accent for sure.

"ISMILE" instead of smile could be either Bihari or U.P...There are countless more such examples; just observe when they speak...

The joke given below is also very interesting---I guess i should say "Bery interesting" since I am Bengali...

A Delhi Panju guy decides to buy 3 samosas from a popular road side eatery. He asks the shop guy to "rape" (wrap) 3 samosas for him. The shop guy asks "do you want them to be raped separately or together?"

Dear Friend, Thanks for the comment, Yes, I know these are pretty old jokes and i agree too that some other states like AP, Gujarat, Bengal and many others too will fall into this section, but still keralites accents are far more better than of all others, Just for the sake of some fun I posted this, I am sure many of my Malayalee friends here and elsewhere will not get offended and will take this lightly,

Very Interesting

Its really interesting. These jokes made our DAY. Thanks PV for this funny Jokes about, we malayalees, though its interesting many are not relevent at all at this present day, because Malayalees are improved a lot in thier status in all levels. Some we can't take it, any way thanks for the "PERSONAL SECRETARY" joke. All the best

My Beloved Mother Saramma Varughese

This is a brief memoir of my mother 'Saramma Verghese' (85 years) who passed away on 8th July 2008.

She was the first daughter of Mr. Thomman Chummar and Sara. Her parents were from an aristocratic family named Pappalil. They lived at a village called Maaraady, near Moovattupuzha town.

She was brought up with strict discipline of the Syrian Christian tradition. Her mother Mrs. Sara was the first person (who came to know the Lord in their family) in her family to know the lord. Along with her conversion some wonderful things happened in their home. Her mother Sara's father Mr. Ulahannan Kakkatuputhenpurayil was staying at Palakkuzha village. At that time there was no gospel preached or heard in that village. One day two evangelists visited the village and decided to do some open air preaching, they started singing some songs and was about to start preaching, all of a sudden an angry mob reached the spot and caught them and started beating.

Their plan was to kill them and throw their bodies into the nearby river. One of the evangelists was Br. P H Peter lovingly called as "Peter Upadesi" (Now with the Lord), father of Evangelist George Peter of Chitoor. Hearing the news Mr. Ulahannan, my mother's grand father ran to the place, he being the village leader, no one was brave enough to protest against him. By the time it was dark, fearing that the angry mob might attack them again he gave shelter to them at his home. That night the servants of God shared their testimony and spoke to the family about Christ and the salvation they could gain by believing in Christ. That was a turning point in their family and my mother's mother accepted Christ as her personal savior.

Her faith was so strong and she started witnessing the truth to other members of her family. Her husband Thomman expressed his displeasure and was dead against to her new faith. But among the five children Saramma and her younger sister Mariamma accepted Christ as their personal savior. Later they decided to take baptism according to the Word of God. The news spread through out the village and it was shocking news to the relatives and the nominal orthodox Christian society. The Orthodox Syrian Jacobite Church ex-communicated them and they were considered out casts and were not allowed participating even in the funeral services of their relatives. They faced severe persecution from inside the family as well as from outside.

Though they were firm in the faith there were no believers in the nearby villages. So they had to walk about 60 kilometers every Sunday to participate in a worship meeting and other week days gatherings. My mother and her sister told us that they never missed Sunday worship meetings except when they were ill. They continued this way for almost five years and the Lord sent some of His children to extend their evangelistic work in those areas.

Some of the prominent evangelists at that time in the brethren movement M/s. K V Simon, Lonappen Upadesi, Peter Upadesi, K G Kurian, E P Varghese, C T Mathai, A P Paily, Vattakattu Varkey Upadesi and a few other's through their inspirational messages and classes strengthened them to be firm in their faith. Though they faced many problems from their family members, whenever these brethren conducted gospel meetings and Bible classes in the nearby places, they made it a point to attend those gatherings. A few more Christians joined the faith and started a small gathering at Pothanicade near Parambencherry.

My mother's brothers were dead against her faith and they were not willing tot ake care of their parents so she decided to stay unmarried to look after the parents. Meanwhile her younger sister got married.The years went by and the parents were getting old. After their death Saramma's life and safety became a question, so they convinced her to get married. A few years passed by and their firm faith in the Lord and the exemplary life they led in the Lord enabled her other family members too to come into the faith. Some of their children are in the service of the Lord.

The Lord was faithful to His daughter and gave her a partner who was a believer. Mr. P T Varghese from Kota, Chengannur, who was a God fearing, humble, loving and well disciplined person. Evangelist K P Stephen of Thiruvankulam and his wife (she can be seen in the adjacent picture--in white dress holding a bag) took initiative in this matter and they were united in holy matrimony. At that time my father was working as a pattern maker in the carpentry section of the erstwhile Pampa River Sugar Factory - Now Travancore Sugars and Chemicals Ltd-. My mother was an ideal wife to my father and a loving mother to all of us and an excellent home maker like the woman in Proverb 31. She was a mature woman, devoted wife, mother, honorable, humble, unselfish and kind. She was a caring and loving mother not only to us but also to the neighbors, especially to the fellow believers. She was so keen to share whatever we had with others especially with those in the Lord's service. In spite of our tight financial budget she always made it a point to set apart some amount for this purpose.

Those days running a family of nine members was a great task. With my father's meager salary it was difficult to make both ends meet. On my mother's initiative father bought a cow and started selling milk and manure to the neighboring people and earned a small income from that. At that time we were staying in the company's staff quarters. There was a high demand for our milk as it was not diluted. My mother was so strict that she never diluted the milk with water for sale. Apart from this my father used to work in the evening hours after his eight hours duty at the factory. He made different types of wooden furniture with good quality wood. This too was in high demand because of the carpentry skill and the reasonable prices.

Through their dedicated life, all the children got educated and are settled in different parts of the world. By the grace of God all are in the Christian faith. She was an instrument in bringing them up in the fear of the Lord. She continued steadfast in the faith till her departure from this earth. My mother set a good example for us to follow. We, her children are very happy to follow in her foot prints. Though, she was a silent doer of the Word of God we are sure that her reward in heaven will be much greater. We thank God for being the children of this loving mother.

We are seven children, five brothers and two sisters - Rosamma John Secunderabad, P V Thomas Bangalore, Ammini Daniel U S A, P. T. John Chennai, Philip Verghese Secunderabad, Paul Varghese Pulikeezhu, Shaji Varghese Palghat.

Sons and Daughters-in-law: John Philip Secunderabad, Glory Thomas Bangalore, M V Daniel U S A, Sally John Chennai, Omana Philip Secunderabad, Nessy Paul Pulikeezhu, Annie Shaji Palghat.

Thanks for the comment, good to know that you are touched by mother’s exemplary short history. Yes, tolerance of humans no doubt should be taught at the early stage. For that matter not only this but many other good moral fibers should be taught at the tender age that will definitely have an impacting effect till a person’s death. As far as I know it will not dissipate.

About your Sis-in-law’s faith, I really appreciate her guts to lecture to a person like you about her unchallenging faith. LOL. and I fully agree with her, though a bit religious oriented subject, since you raised this let me put my view, Yes, her stand is a wonderful and an acceptable one, and as you said very few in this world opt for that, yes the Bible too says it, only a meager number follow this truth. The people who opt and go towards that way is very very less comparing to the other groups towards hell… That road to heaven is very short but towards the other side that road is wide open and many I mean the majority blindly rush towards it to their peril.

Yes, as humans we need to question and search the truth, but I am sure that will not be an endless search. If one genuinely searches for the real truth he will find it. Many scholars and researchers found out that real truth where your Sis-in-law put her firm faith. Murry I don’t want to elaborate this further but would like to put a long full stop here.

I was touched by your Knol, a very nice tribute. Do you suppose that tolerance of humans regardless of their beliefs should be taught at a very early age? Your story recounts essentially hysterical fear and hate-based behavior. If only tolerance, acceptance and love were taught and reinforced during childhood, such events would dissipate.

My sister-in-law, an otherwise wonderful woman, would sit in my home and lecture that unless I accepted her specific brand of born-again Christianity, I was condemned to hell. I questioned her to point out the problem of a sparsely-populated heaven, since her specific brand embraced far less than 10,000 souls. It did not matter. She was incapable of intellectually accepting logic. She chose to remain mentally lazy, believing the dogma from the pulpit of her church without challenge.

Tolerance takes intellectual bravery and energy. Blind faith is in my opinion at the root of hatred and war. As humans we need to question and test endlessly. What do you think?
