I wanted to let you know how great MC Lance was for my son’s Bar Mitzvah on June 1st.

The afternoon could not have been any more fun and I believe that was all due to Lance’s amazing talents!  From the very moment the party began, he had the kids up and moving and kept them engaged throughout the day.  His mix of games and music was perfect and allowed all the adults to enjoy the day as well.  My family continued to talk about him and how great he was long after our guests had departed.

I also truly appreciated his professional skills in overseeing the afternoon. From my first phone call with him, it was clear he knew the best way to structure the day–and his suggestions were very much appreciated.  He was also very willing to work with us when we needed to make adjustments to the plan.  All of the adults commented on how quiet the teens were during the speeches and candle lighting, and again, I believe that was in large part due to Lance’s great skills. My husband and I really enjoy having the songs he played during the candle lighting–that was an unexpected gift to have as a memory of that day.

And he should know that Zachery and all his friends wore their tattoo sleeves to school on Monday following the Bar Mitzvah–in my opinion a true testament of the fun the kids had at the party!

So thank you for helping us to find Lance.  I know our celebration would not have been nearly as enjoyable had we not had him as our DJ.

While most of you were probably relaxing over this July 4^th holiday weekend 2011 – Black Tie headed North, South, East and West on a mini-tour of Maryland and Virginia performing at 4 events in 4 days.

Friday, June 30th the band went east to the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club, a favorite venue for Washington Talent acts. The Beach Club is just across the Bay Bridge in Stevensville, Maryland and offers a beautiful view of the water. The wedding went off flawlessly with the help of Erin Janes at the beach club and Ryan and Heather got some amazing sunset pictures on the beach.

Saturday, July 1st Black Tie headed east for Josh and Jessica’s wedding at Shade Trees and Evergreens in Frederick, Maryland. The tree nursery doubles as reception site on the weekends with an outside covered pavilion adjacent to their man-made lake. They had friends perform on strings and guitar for their ceremony then moved up the hill to have Black Tie perform for the reception. The pavilion is covered but the roof is clear to let the sunlight through and it was 96 degrees when the band started. Not letting the heat put a damper on the celebration the band turned in a scorching non-stop 2.5 hour set that had all 210 guests dancing and sweating right up until the end. Black Tie lived up to their bumper sticker slogan “Rock hard, Go home tired, Wake up happy.”

Sunday, July 2nd the band travelled north to Towson, Maryland to perform for Shawn and Lindsay’s wedding at The Mansion at Valley Country Club. A beautiful affair and the first time the band has played an Uncle Cracker song “Smile” for a first dance. Support by WTAs finest Jack Hartzman, Monica Vidal had the Photography responsibilities, while Jeff Schofield handled the Videography.

For the last performance of the weekend, Black Tie headed to the Country Club of Fairfax where they have played the July 4^th celebration for the past 17 years. Strickland Bonner, band leader and guitarist for Black Tie (and now President of Washington Talent Agency) remembers this event as the first 4^th of July party Black Tie ever played when the band began in 1994.

Here’s his take on performing at the same event 17 years running. “It is amazing to be here every year for Independence Day, and actually watching some of these kids grow up. The members here are like family, I have seen them go from kindergarten to college! The food is always great and the fireworks from the golf course get more incredible every year. Can’t wait ‘til next year!”

“Hardest working band in show business”? Well, they’re not touring the country performing at stadiums like U2, but it is hard to find a group playing more often in the Baltimore/Washington area than Black Tie.

A simply perfect Saturday afternoon, May 21, 2011 for Alex’s Bar Mitzvah.

Blue skies and 75 degrees does not make for one to want to spend an afternoon inside the Bolger Center Ballroom, unless of course you have Black Tie and MC FRESH entertaining and it feels like a Saturday night inside!

Black Tie, one of Washington Talents Agency’s premiere Mitzvah hybrid entertainment acts featuring MCs Chris, Adrian and Jami and backed by live guitar, keyboards and drums, set the stage and tone for a terrific afternoon affair for Alex. MC FRESH added another level of excitement making a surprise guest appearance, joining BT for the event. Band leader Strick Bonner, his green Carvin guitar and matching green “Chucks” sneakers put on an excellent performance; non-stop for 4 hours. The party also included Wax Hands, Lighting & Plasma Screens by Washington Talent, a fabulous photo montage made by Alex’s dad Steve and desserts from Starbucks featuring Tiramisu, Rocky Road, Carrot Cake and Chocolate/Peanut Butter mini pops and cupcakes.

Photographer Jack Hartzman recalls photographing the incredible wedding Alex’s parents had 16 years ago; grandparents, aunts and uncles alike were on the dance floor celebrating yet another family Simcha.

Bob Mills was fantastic in helping us find the type of band and ceremony music we wanted for our day.

Cynthia Bilger was the harpist for our ceremony and her music really helped set the scene and elevate our ceremony to another level. Her music was classy, elegant, and exactly what we wanted.

Main Line Affair was our band for the cocktail hour and reception. For the cocktail hour we used one of the horn players and a guitarist to provide light jazz music. It was fantastic and got people in the mood for what was to come, without being too loud or overwhelming.

Main Line Affair rocked it for our reception, plain and simple. They looked numerous songs just for us and all of them sounded amazing. They were flexible enough to know what the dance crowd was looking for and when, and this kept the party going throughout the night. They even let me sing a song to my new wife (with a lot of assistance from their singers!). If you are looking for a young, lively band that can play anything from Motown to 80s to “Call Me Maybe”, this is your band!

We would like to recommend Brian Viollet as your DJ for your next event. Brian was an awesome DJ at our reception. He was easy going, kind, and flexible with changes to the agenda. Thank you for playing songs that would make our guest just want to dance [...]]]>

Everyone kept saying it was the best wedding they had ever attended DJ Bob came to our home to discuss Philly Event Group’s services and helped to put together an affordable package of lighting, cocktail hour music and the band Prime Time for our reception. He was easily reachable and very responsive through our entire planning phase. He was very flexible on the day of the wedding and was able to quickly rearrange everything to be inside when rain unexpectedly struck including the ceremony sound system and microphones. Cocktail hour music was excellent and our event seamlessly transitioned into the band Prime Time running our reception. Prime Time was just incredible! They interacted with us and our guests all night and got just about everyone up on the dance floor! My husband and I met at karaoke and they even played that song as we entered and let me grab the mic Also- My dad was in a doo-wop group in the 50s and they even learned one of his songs for the occasion. They really surprised us by getting our parents up in the chairs during the horah! My parents are Catholic but they absolutely loved that part! We had such an amazing time, cannot say enough great things about DJ Bob and Prime Time!

They were worth every single penny!

By the end of the night I felt like they were my best friends…I had such a great time, we really enjoyed every single minute of our reception

I can’t imagine what the event would have been like without you. You added so much energy and really kept people engaged and excited throughout the evening. Loved your lighting set up. Not too flashy, but just enough to create some atmosphere. Especially liked that light box you put in front of your table. And, Bob – what a great auctioneer you are! I am sure your efforts brought in hundreds of extra dollars for the Girl Scouts. You have a great way of begging people to pay more and they feel good about it! I wish I could have more of that talent!

Our very own DJ Doug Sandler played an opening set and introduced 70′s Rock-n-Roll legends, The Guess Who (American Woman, No Sugar Tonight) at The Gaylord Hotel at National Harbor. At the conclusion of their 90 minute set of amazing classic tunes, DJ Doug pumped up the ballroom with dance music for more than 2 hours. The dance floor was never empty as 1,500 danced to classic rock, hip-hop and R&B tunes. Corporate entertainment at its best.
