All the major brake manufacturers have different levels of product with often just a general comment on what they are and what the intended application is. Beyond that, there are literally hundreds of other brands selling product from all over the world with hardly any government oversight as to the quality or performance of the products. The consequences of the wrong choice can be excessive noise, unsightly brake dust, shortened rotor life, longer stopping distances, and additional repair or replacement expenses.

Other issues such as the effect on the environment can also impact the decision making, which is why we do not have any copper in our brake pads.

So what makes our pads so special? The first thing you should know is that they are made right here in the USA! We do this so that we can maintain consistent product and ingredient control. All of our pads are produced to our proprietary formula where each ingredient is selected to yield the best impact on overall pad performance and value. The type of steel fibers, resins, carbon, and other ingredients have been tested in real world applications for many millions of miles. Compared to traditional replacement pads, our HDM Fleet pads can operate at temperatures up to 1000 degrees without significant friction fade or loss. All of our HDM disc pads are integrally molded using a Positive Mold Technology to a specially treated backing plate. These pads can withstand extremely high shear loads so that pad separation is never an issue in the field. Slots and chamfers are added as per Original Equipment specifications. Every set is also electrostatically powder coated for protection from corrosion.

If you would like to know more about our pads or you are interested in a fleet quotation, give us a jingle at 877-570-5630.

Here are some of our more popular disc brake part numbers:

HDM 7108-D184, HDM 7141-D224, HDM 7142-D225, HDM 7654-D786, HDM 7655-D786

Acura and Honda Stage 2,3, & 4 clutch kits

We have in stock and available through our website the popular clutch kits for 1990-2002 Acura CL and Honda Accord and Prelude vehicles with 2.2L or 2.3L engines. We show both the engine torque and horsepower ratings for each performance level. All of our ratings are conservative to allow occasional severe demands to be handled without concern [such as towing a six horse trailer up Pike's Peak - just kidding :) ]. The kits are:
This conversion kit comes complete with everything you need to change to a solid mass flywheel, including the flywheel bolts and prefilled hydraulics. This kit offers a very smooth engagement. The torque capacity is 620 lb-ft. (good for payloads/towing capacity up to 15K lbs). Available at $699.99.

The second option (Stage 3 Clutch Kit) uses the same pressure plate and flywheel, but with a Phoenix Friction engineered Cerametallic Clutch Disc. This disc is specifically designed to increase the torque rating from 620 lb-ft. from the OE conversion kit to over 900 lb-ft. of torque. This kit is what you will want if you have moderately modified the engine or are hauling loads from 15 to 25,000 lbs. The only perceived drawback (while under load) is the this disc has a very quick engagement and can chatter a bit while shifting in the lower gears, and can be more pronounced in reverse. For most Dodge Rams "as work trucks", this is a small price to pay and is an expected tradeoff in relation to the torque increase. Available at $899.99

Our Stage 5 Clutch Kit option uses a high torque Phoenix Friction Cerametallic Clutch Disc and a specially designed pressure plate that uses a unique weighting system that increases clamp load by centrifugal forces. The clamp load of the pressure plate increases relative to the spin rate of the flywheel. This offers a significant increase in clamp load over the amount of clamp load of the springs alone, and offers a significant increase in torque capacity. This kit is capable of 1500 lb-ft. of torque without the expense of employing a dual disc clutch system. This kit is for those that have a highly modified engine and therfore have very high torque requirements. Available at $999.99.

We also have Kevlar button versions of these kits available for trucks used in towing applications. These Kevlar button kits give you very smooth engagement characteristics, higher torque capacities, and very long life. Call for more information. Toll free 877-570-5630. Visit us at http://www.phoenixfriction.com/.

First Blog

Hello everyone!
